How to Dress Like Meghan Markle

Prince Harry’s engagement to Meghan Markle surprised many. She is American after all. However, many people were not so surprised once they saw her style. Meghan is the epitome of grace and class, like all the royal brides before her. She never looks out of place with the other royals, yet maintains a down to earth style that others don’t have. So how can you copy her style?  

Many of the royals are known for their perfectly immaculate hair. Kate, for example, often sports perfectly placed curls, that are the height of sophistication. Meghan however takes a different route. Meghan’s hairstyles often don’t look like she’s done anything special at all. She’s generally seen wearing her hair down, appearing to have done nothing beyond washing and combing it. Shocking, perhaps. How could a royal care so little about her appearance after all. But if you see it on her you’ll understand. Her simple hairstyle perfectly expresses her down to earth confidence, and never looks out of place even amongst the poshest of peers.

Like the rest of her wardrobe, Meghan’s shoes emulate that not so quiet American confidence she’s so well known for. She’s been seen in everything from pumps, to stilettos, to flats and even sandals. The thing that ties them all together is they’re always simple. Meghan doesn’t need her shoes to do the talking for her. You’ll not find bright colors, sparkly bits, garish patterns or gaudy bows on her feet. Everything she wears lets her confident shine through. To emulate this, try to find simple shoes that allow your natural personality to shine through, whatever that is.

One thing the royal women are certainly well known for is their hats. Every major event will feature them wearing all kinds of hats. The thing is, generally these hats are what one might call extravagant. You’d think that there is some kind of contest on to find out who has the most flamboyant hat around. This makes hats the one area where Megan somewhat breaks from her tradition of simplicity for a bit of extravagance. Certainly she can be seen wearing fairly standard hats like berets, sun hats and even baseball caps. But some of her other hats are what one might call “off the deep end.” To copy this let your tastes run wild. Just don’t care about anything when picking a hat, just grab whatever catches your eye that day.

Megan’s dresses, like the rest of her style, tend to be rather toned down. You won’t see a lot of flashy colors, or diving necklines, or over the top styles. They tend to actually be rather simple affairs, though they are often very very form fitting. This, like the rest of her fashion, allows her natural confidence and charisma to shine through. To copy her here look for simple dresses that accentuate your figure, while not revealing too much otherwise. You certainly want to be sexy, but you don’t want your body to be distracting people from your natural magnetism.

Her Confidence

This is perhaps the one thing that sets Meghan apart from not just most of the other royals, but most people in general. And that is her confidence. When you look at her you know that she’s 110% okay with who she is, and doesn’t give your negative opinions of her a second of her time. It’s of course perhaps the hardest aspect of her style to copy. But it can certainly be done. When you’re out and about make a point of owning who you are. Whatever that might happen to be. If that’s hard to do, ask yourself why. Why do you care about the little extra pudge you have, or that your hair is a little dull, or your nose isn’t quite right? Just own it. If it doesn’t feel right just do it anyhow. You’ll often find that when you do that you’ll attract that kind of people that will accept you for you.

In her choice of handbags, like with everything else, Meghan tends towards the simple and practical. You won’t see her toting around tiny little purses you can barely fit a credit card and a pack of tic tacs into. No, she’s often seen carrying rather large ones. Not comically or “fashionably” large though. Just big enough to get the job done. They’re also rather simple and practical. In order to copy this you’ll want to actually not think too hard about your choice. Try to relax, and pick a handbag for its practicality. You’ll find if you do that you’ll generally have chosen almost the same bag she would have.

How does pricing work?

The rental price of an item is determined by a combination of both the item’s recommended retail price (RRP) and a day rate which is calculated by our algorithms. The higher the item’s RRP, the more competitive the day rate becomes. This keeps rental prices fair and accessible on more expensive items. It also means that longer rental periods become better value options to our customers without compromising on payouts to our Lender community.

You're all so helpful, thank you. So, I much prefer midi. I am 5'8", slim and have very small breasts. I prefer darker colours. There's nothing I want to cover up (well apart from what's socially expected!).

I am not keen on the lack of any detail on the Yumi one. I love the buttons and the slight gathering on the Ghost one - really flattering I think. The Nobody's Child one looks too much like a BM dress I think - though I love the cut and detail. The floral one would be a possibility if I could guarantee a very warm day.

What is Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL)?

BNPL is an interest bearing option that allows you to delay payments on your purchases for up to 12 months depending on how much you spend. The delayed payment period starts from the date of order (including pre-ordered items and those not ready for immediate dispatch).

How is interest calculated? Interest is calculated from date of order and compounded daily. The interest will be added to your account as a lump sum at the end of the delayed payment period. This means you will pay interest on interest.

How to avoid paying interest? What is excluded from BNPL? The costs for delivery, installation services and monthly insurance products cannot be placed on BNPL.

Do I still have to pay my monthly minimum payment? Yes, allocating payments to BNPL will not cover the minimum payment on your account. If you have a non-BNPL balance, you will still need to make at least your minimum payment as shown on your statement.
