Quotes
Hotel Manager : [snaps his finger] Mr. Smith, quickly. I want that door open NOW!
[points at the guy]
Hotel Manager : Donald, stand over there.
Dr. Peter Venkman : [after capturing Slimer] We came, we saw, we kicked its ass.
Hotel Manager : Did you see it? What is it?
Dr. Raymond Stantz : [holding ghost trap like a rat by the tail] We got it.
Hotel Manager : What is it? Will there be any more of them?
Dr. Raymond Stantz : Sir, what you had there is what we refer to as a focused, non-terminal, repeating phantasm or a class-five full-roaming vapor. A real nasty one, too.
Dr. Peter Venkman : And now...
[Peter clears his throat]
Dr. Peter Venkman : ... let's talk seriously. Now, for the entrapment, we're gonna have to ask you...
[Egon holds up four fingers]
Dr. Peter Venkman : ... for four big ones, Four thousand dollars for that. But we are having a special this week on proton charging and storage of the beast...
[Egon holds up one finger]
Dr. Peter Venkman : ... and that's only gonna come to one thousand dollars, fortunately.
Hotel Manager : Five thousand dollars? I had no idea it'd be so much. I won't pay it.
Dr. Peter Venkman : Well, that's all right. We can just put it right back in there. Thank you.
Dr. Raymond Stantz : We certainly can, Dr. Venkman.
[Ray turns back toward the ballroom]
Hotel Manager : [stopping Ray] No, no, NO! All right. Anything.
Dr. Peter Venkman : [handing the manager a check] Thanks so much.
Dr. Raymond Stantz : Thank you. Hope we can help you again.
[as he, Peter and Egon leave the hotel, Ray calls out to the witnesses]
Dr. Raymond Stantz : Coming through! One class-five full-roaming vapor. Move 'em out.
Dr. Peter Venkman : [after capturing Slimer] We came, we saw, we've kick its ass.
Hotel Manager : You've seen it? What was it?
Dr. Raymond Stantz : We've got it.
[Holds up the smoking ghost trap]
Dr. Raymond Stantz : Sir, what we have here is what we call a non-repeating phantasm, or a class-5 free roaming vapor, real nasty one too.
Dr. Peter Venkman : Okay.
[Clears throat]
Dr. Peter Venkman : Let's talk serious, for the entrapment, we're gonna ask you for 4 big ones $4,000 for that, but we are having a special this week on proton charging, and storage of the beast, so we are gonna ask for $1,000 fortunate.
Hotel Manager : $5,000 I had no idea it would be so much, I won't pay it.
Dr. Peter Venkman : Oh, that's okay we can just put it right back in there.
Dr. Raymond Stantz : We most certainly can, Dr. Venkman
Hotel Manager : [Stops Ray] No, no, NO! Anything.
[Peter hands the manager a check]
Dr. Raymond Stantz : Thank you. We hope that we can help you again.
[the Ghostbusters arrive at the Sedgewick Hotel in Ecto-1, fully decked out in uniform and gear]
Dr. Peter Venkman : [entering the main lobby] HEY, ANYBODY SEEN A GHOST?
[a pretty lady goes by. They all stare appreciatively. The Hotel Manager comes running up behind them]
Hotel Manager : Thank you for coming so quickly!
Dr. Peter Venkman : [startled] JESUS!
Hotel Manager : The guests are starting to ask questions and I'm running out of excuses.
Dr. Raymond Stantz : Has it happened before?
Hotel Manager : Well, most of the original staff knows about the twelfth floor; the disturbances, I mean. But it's been quiet for years! Up until two weeks ago. It was never, ever this bad, though!
Dr. Egon Spengler : Did you ever report it to anyone?
Hotel Manager : Heavens, no!
Dr. Peter Venkman : Oh, no. You kidding?
Hotel Manager : The owners don't even like us to talk about it. I hope we can take care of this. Quietly! Tonight!
Dr. Raymond Stantz : Yes sir, don't worry. We handle this kind of thing all the time!

Personality [ ]
Much like his predecessor, John O'Keefe is an uptight man that is all about class.
History [ ]
On Thanksgiving weekend 1991, when the Ghostbusters arrived at the Sedgewick Hotel in search of Slimer , John O'Keefe was irate that the ghost had returned. O'Keefe demanded a refund but Peter Venkman reminded him the warranty on the back of the invoices expired a while ago. Peter and the Rookie tracked Slimer to the Alhambra Ballroom. O'Keefe refused to allow them entry with the Rodriguez Bar Mitzvah set to start in half an hour and was willing to risk that Slimer would just wander away. Peter played it cool and set off to find an alternative entrance from the kitchen. 15 minutes later, O'Keefe was horrified by the site of the ballroom and questioned the team about who would pay for all the damages. They assured him the city's insurance policy would cover it. O'Keefe caved in and allowed the Ghostbusters to continue capturing the rest of the ghosts.
After the Paranormal Contracts Oversight Commission sealed off the Sedgewick and the City & County shut off the electricity, O'Keefe went in to retrieve some payroll records but the paranormal residents prevented him from leaving and he was forced to stay in overnight. [1] Luckily, the Ghostbusters returned and found O'Keefe in a stairwell. In need of power, the Ghostbusters learned from O'Keefe the hotel's circuit breaker was in his office but it was useless since the City & County came. [2] He revealed there was a back up generator in the Utility Room off the kitchen for emergency black outs. [3]
As they head through the Sedgewick, they sighted the Spider Witch and one of her victims. O'Keefe instantly recognized her based on stories from the senior staff. O'Keefe fainted just as the Ghostbusters reach the kitchen.
While the Ghostbusters were busy trying to restore power in the kitchen, O'Keefe regained consciousness and waited for them. When they form a plan to search for the Mandala Node, O'Keefe goes with Ray and Winston up to the 14th Floor. While up there, he informed Egon of the Spider Witch's nefarious habits: hanging her victims from the wall and draining them of blood. He also told them of her room, Room 1221. This information allowed Egon and the Rookie to find and defeat the Spider Witch, shutting down the hotel's Mandala node.
Ghostbusters: The Video Game Trivia [ ]
- The character's likeness is modeled on Terminal Reality's Studio Director. The character's voice, mo-cap mannerisms, and distinctive girly shriek are not. [4]
- The seventh message left on the Firehouse answering machine accessible after the cut scenes that follow the Panic in Times Square Level is from a very angry Haim Rodriguez upset over the destruction of the ballroom he paid over $50,000 for his son's Bar Mitzvah. He alludes to O'Keefe as the "hotel manager that won't stop crying". [5]
- In the Return to the Sedgewick Level (realistic version) level, Ray mistook O'Keefe for a Level 5 Anchored Ambusher. [6]
Tertiary Canon Trivia [ ]
- On page 29 of Egon's Journal, a supplement of the Hasbro Haslab Ghostbusters Plasma Series Spengler's Proton Pack , John O'Keefe is quoted in a newspaper article about all the damage the Ghostbusters did in 1984.

Cost me over 50 grand for one, a busted up ballroom, and a hotel manager that won't stop crying. FAN-TAS-TIC. It's all good. I'll just wait for my precious son to become a man for the second time. How does that sound? We'll just wait it out. Or you know, he'll probably be getting married in eight years or so and maybe you can come and destroy the wedding? Or maybe his son's bris? Ah, ah... Would you like to attend the Blessed Occasion with your lasers and your hollering? We look forward to it. Invitations will be in the mail."
