Andrea Lee Christensen plays sneaky informant Riley Saxe on “Power Book II: Ghost,” and her colorful hair is the perfect fit for her mischievous character.
“Actually, the casting was for a girl with purple hair, and I had already had the pink hair for like two years, so I think the casting directors were like, ‘Oh, sweet, nice, she already has the hair,'” Christensen told Page Six Style.
The actress says going pink in the first place was “a spur-of-the-moment decision.”
“I was reading this really great book where the protagonist changed her life, so I wanted to do something to change my life. I just went to Urban Outfitters and bought pink hair dye, and the rest is history,” she recalled.
Now, Christensen is taking all measures to maintain her eye-catching look, regularly lathering up with Celeb Luxury’s Viral Colorwash ($35).
“It’s a bright pink shampoo that deposits color, because without that the pink washes out in like two washes and it’s just annoying,” she said. “And instead of using conditioner, I use a deep conditioning mask from Dae ($28) and it’s really been working so far. I also try to use a heat protectant before I style it.”
The California native — who now resides in New York — takes her skincare techniques from her mother, who is from Taiwan, and her dad, who is Danish and German.
“I do beauty preps before a scene for the show, but it’s really hard with the mask because ‘maskne’ is a real thing. But I try a lot of new products. Right now I’m using this French brand called Biologique Recherche . I use the Lotion P50 ($30) to balance and exfoliate my skin. And then I use their Placenta Creme ($66) as my moisturizer.”
And when it comes to that first major purchase from her new Starz paycheck, Christensen has only one dream.
“I would love to be able to take my mom on vacation once everything settles down in the world. I would love to take her to a Greek island somewhere and just have a good life and tan,” she told us.

Background [ ]
Purin is an accomplished genius with a doctorate from MIT. Early in her childhood, her family was killed by Marco Amoretti , leaving her the only survivor. She was placed into witness protection by Batou and changed her name while being adopted by a Japanese family. Her early interactions with Batou greatly influenced her, motivating her to join Section 9, skip many grades, and graduate from MIT as a teenager.
Shortly after her family's death, she began backing up her memories in a secret server base.
Sometime between her graduation and her recruitment into Section 9, she's infected by the rogue American Empire 1A84 , turning her into a Post-human. This grants her superhuman hacking abilities, reflexes, and body control. Still, unlike other post-humans, the change has little to no effect on her personality or life motivations, as her main goal remains to join Section 9 and reunite with Batou.
History [ ]
Abilities [ ].
As a post-human, Purin Ezaki has extremely powerful cyberbrain hacking abilities, allowing her to face off against other post-humans such as Takashi Shimamura and Suzuka Mizukane . The post-human transformation also grants her superhuman reflexes and enhanced control of her own body, allowing her to dodge automatic gunfire and granting her superior hand-to-hand combat skills
Appearance [ ]
Purin is a young girl with short pink hair and light-purple eyes, who also wears glasses. Her leggings are purple and her boots, reaching over her ankles, are black. On special occasions, she would wear the red Section 9 technician uniform.
- She was murdered by accident, although she vocally told Armaki she just saved him; the prime minister's security fatally shot her anyway. Some viewers have criticized this scene for being overly melodramatic.
- The Major set up her resurrection as a full-body Android and altered her memories to forget the entire series to erase her guilt of helping try to set up a fake peace.

Yuyuko Saigyouji
- View history
Main Profile [ ]
Yuyuko Saigyouji is the ghost princess of Hakugyokurou , the netherworld of the "formerly-living", but was once a living human. Long ago, after her death from suicide, her body was used to place a seal on the Saigyou Ayakashi , a dangerous youkai cherry tree, to stop it from killing innocent humans. She has the power to invite mortal souls to death, and those souls who perish this way wind up in Hakugyokurou rather than Heaven or Hell. Though it might seem dangerous for such a whimsical, seemingly impulsive personality to wield such a terrible power, Yuyuko appears to have a strong sense of responsibility regarding her power, and never uses it recklessly or out of spite, nor does she use it as a weapon. Ironically, it was this power that drove her to kill herself in the first place. Humans fear Yuyuko because of her fearsome power and a general fear of the supernatural, but she is very cheerful and friendly. Unlike many ghosts, she resembles a living human, and her playful, good-humored personality, otherworldly beauty, and courtesan charm can have a disarming effect. She often makes bizarre and apparently nonsensical remarks and sometimes seems to overlook the obvious, leading to her characterization as an airhead or a ditz. However, at other times, she will reveal an extremely cunning and perceptive side and will also sometimes display an extraordinary level of knowledge. She seems to never take anything too seriously, though, and she loves to tease her straight-laced and eager-to-please assistant, Youmu, who is her opposite in many ways. Probably originating from the term "hungry ghost", she is also known for her incredible appetite and seems to have a food-related metaphor for any situation. Yuyuko is truly "dead and loving it."
During the events of Perfect Cherry Blossom , she enlisted Youmu to find a way to make the tree bloom to resurrect the corpse buried beneath it, apparently unaware that it was her own body. Forced to abandon her plan, as it would only result in her own destruction and the unleashing of the Saigyou Ayakashi's terror once again, she resigned herself to continuing her previous existence.
During Ten Desires , the heroines investigate Hakugyokurou because they suspect that Yuyuko is not taking care of the spirits properly. But Yuyuko guides them to the Graveyard behind the Myouren Temple .

In the world of anime, there is always at least one character that will stand out in a crowd because of their very peculiar hair color. As it happens, those characters also tend to have very memorable stories as well as unique personalities which makes them so very fascinating.
RELATED: The 10 Most Popular Anime Of The 2010s & How They Held Up
There are no limits when it comes to what hair color a character can have, blue, green, grey, bi-color, you name it! We've seen characters with hair colors taken pretty much everywhere on the light spectrum. Colors are often given a certain connotation. Pink, for example, is very often associated with romance, joy, and femininity, however, when it comes to anime all those connotations go out the window. You can find easily yourself looking at a character with pretty pale pink hair who also happens to be a psychopath or stumble upon a character who's the personification of goodness.
Updated by Brianna Albert on September 27th, 2020: Anime characters usually have a wide variety of wild colors when it comes to hairーinstead of black, blonde, brown, or red, an anime character can have purple or even green hair. All that matters is if the hair color fits the character properly, and more often than not, it totally does — in one way or another, at least, as there's no singular definitive trait that determines whether or not a given character gets to tout a lovely mane of this particularly powerful shade. With that in mind, we've added a few more characters that rock the pink locks.
16 Lisbeth (Sword Art Online)
Lisbeth is an extremely lovable character with a great number of redeemable traits. Though we didn't get to see that much of her, her presence in SAO was essential to the story and she stole the heart of many fans of the series.
She is fierce, loyal, and always remains true to herself. She knows her limits and instead of blindly throwing herself into battle as many other players did, she perfected her skills as a blacksmith making herself one of the most important characters in the game. Her powerful weapons were a game-changer and her utterly sweet personality gained her a spot on this list!
15 Minori Kushieda (Toradora!)
Minori is a very cheerful, naturally airheaded girl with a constant smile on her face contrary to Taiga who is a grump monster and very inclined to use physical violence to get what she wants. Thanks to her sweet personality, Minori breathes some lightness and joy into anime and we simply can't help but love her for it.
RELATED: 10 Best Outfits From The Toradora Anime
On top of being the sweetest anime character ever, she is also an incredibly hardworking and reliable person who always gives 110% of herself to whatever project or task she takes on. We could all learn from her, that's for sure!
14 Gilthunder (The Seven Deadly Sins)
Gilthunder is an interesting character that appears very real due to his complex personality. Whether you like him or not, it can't be denied that there is something utterly intriguing about this character.
He first appeared to be heartless and cruel. A true villain with no consideration for human life who will not hesitate to destroy innocents to reach his goals. However, as the story goes on, we see Gilthunder under a new light as he proves himself to be an honorable man. We then understand that his judgment is clouded by what he believes to be a divine mission bestowed upon him.
13 Moka Akashiya (Rosario+Vampire)
Moka Akashiya is a vampire who loves the taste of Tsukune Aono's bloodーthat is all she is reduced to in the anime Rosario+Vampire, as it was created as a romantic comedy harem anime. However, there is so much more to Mokaーas well as Inner Mokaーthan meets the eye. Not only is she kind, but she is also a powerful vampire that can beat almost any monster. One certainly shouldn't underestimate her, not in the least.
12 Mei Hatsume (My Hero Academia)
True, Mei is an absolute weirdo who could very well blow up a whole city if left unsupervised, but seeing how passionate she is about her projects makes her immensely lovable.
She's one of those people who gave everything they had to see their dreams become a reality and we can only admire her for that. Mei is not only a very talented mechanic, but she also has a pretty unique way of thinking that also her to come up with incredibly uncommon designs. She never lets herself be defeated by her failures and isn't afraid to go above and beyond to show off her creations.
11 Saiki Kusuo (The Distasurous Life Of Saiki K)
His very peculiar look and sense of fashion make Saiki a very easy character to remember. However, it is his gentle personality as well as the social hardship he faces in his daily life that makes him such a lovable and relatable character.
RELATED: 10 Fan-Favorite Anime Cats
Despite the fact that most of his social issues come from him having to hide his psychic powers in order to live as normal a life as possible, it is very easy to identify to this character and empathize with him. Before you know it, you find yourself rooting for him with everything you got and can't help be grow attached to this very strange yet adorable boy.
9 Inori Yuzuriha (Guilty Crown)
Inori Yuzuriha is the secondary protagonist of Guilty Crown and was known as a popular character during the 2010s. Ten years may have passed since Inori's debut, but her effect on the romance/mecha genre was a big one.
Although Inori begins the series as an emotionless girl, the experiences she goes through with Shu Ouma changed her into a kind and caring youngster. Not only can she fight, but she also has the ability to use various weapons and sing beautifully.
8 Hisoka (Hunter X Hunter)
The Hunter x Hunter series was blessed with many memorable villains but none are quite as great as Hisoka. Yes, he is the devil incarnate and can pretty darn creepy at times and everything he does or thinks should be condemning him to an eternity of torture. Nonetheless, it is near impossible to hate him. What does it say about us?
We can give credit to Yoshihiro Togashi for creating such a memorable character !
7 Nonon Jakuzure (Kill La Kill)
The combination of her pink hair and big pink eyes gives Nonon a cute, sweet, and innocent look that masks her true nature. Though she often puts on a nice girl act, Nonon is in fact very tough and hardened character with a penchant for sassy retorts and that's why we love her so much.
Her complex personality allows her to be shown in different lights throughout the series. She never lets herself fit into the mold and isn't afraid to embrace her true self which is fascinating to watch.
6 Sakura Haruno (Naruto)
There was, of course, no way for such an iconic and overall loved character not to make this list!
RELATED: Naruto: 5 Reasons Why Sakura Should've Gotten Her Own Spin-Off By Now (& 5 Why She Doesn't Deserve One)
Sakura was the absolute female role model for a whole generation of otaku who grew up following her, Naruto, and Sasuke's adventures. Following her through a wide range of life-changing events taking her from childhood to adulthood made this connection to Sakura something truly special. Although she objectively isn't the best character we've encountered, she still holds a special place in the heart of many and deserves a spot on this list.
5 Ringo Tsukiyama (Uta no☆Prince-Sama♪)
Ringo Tsukiyama from Uta no☆Prince-sama♪ is a crossdressing idol and homeroom teacher at Satome Academy. Despite him always dressing in drag, he was told to do this as he sold better as an idolーbut got in the habit of wearing feminine clothes because he looks good in it, and was he right.
Ringo not only is a great idol, but he is also cheerful, kind, and gives his students words of wisdom all while showcasing a wardrobe of fantastic outfits.
4 Yuri Nakamura (Angel Beats!)
Despite the traumatic events she went through in her life, Yuri never let herself be defeated. Even after finding herself trapped in a strange world in the afterlife, she didn't hesitate to rebel against the rules forced upon her in order to gain the freedom she so rightly deserved. She is also a very caring and self-composed character which makes her a natural leader.
Her determination and affection for the people who joined her cause allow her to always go the extra mile to see herself closer to her goal. She is definitely one of the strongest, most courageous, and determined pink-haired characters.
3 Zero Two (Darling In The Franxx)
Zero Two passed Asuna from Sword Art Online into becoming the most female cosplayed character when Darling in the Franxx debuted in 2018. Zero Two is a tricky and mischievous character with a hidden sweet side, as seen throughout the anime.
Her character design was meant to be likable , as stated by the character designer, and it sure did workーit may have due in part to her pink hair, which makes her stand out even more than if she had a more conventional shade.

2 Natsu (Fairy Tail)
Not only is he an awesome character with a great personality, but he also undergoes a huge personal growth. Natsu started off as an eccentric, loud, and childish character prone to let his emotions cloud his judgment which often led him to act before thinking the situation through.
However, as the story progresses, he learned to control his emotions as well as learn to trust and rely on others instead of on running headfirst into trouble.
1 Yuno Gasai (Future Diary)
Despite Future Diary ending almost a decade ago, Yuno still remains as the queen of Yandere for most anime fansーwith only Satou Matsuzaka from Happy Sugar Life giving her a run for her money . Not only did Yuno literally cross space and time to be with Yukiteru, but she killed herself as she was "getting in the way" of her new life with him.
Despite how strange she is, her backstory and the kindness she manages to show at the same time help save her from being totally hated by the fansーand despite it being a long time passing since the anime, Yuno still remains the top search result when searching for "yandere face," and one of the first when searching for "yandere" in search engines.

Horo Horo no Mi
- View history
The Horo Horo no Mi is a Paramecia -type Devil Fruit that allows the user to conjure ghosts, [2] making the user a Ghost Human ( 霊体人間 , Reitai Ningen ? ) . [3] It was eaten by Perona . [2]
The powers of the fruit were first demonstrated by one of Perona's ghosts spying on the Straw Hat Pirates , [1] but it was not until much later that the fruit itself was named. [2]

Etymology [ ]
- Horo comes from horō ( ホロー ? ) , the Japanese pronunciation of the English word "hollow" (referring to the fruit's ghost-like powers).
- In the VIZ manga and Funimation dub, it is called the Hollow-Hollow Fruit .
Appearance [ ]
The Horo Horo no Mi is pale-yellow fruit that below its green, T-shaped stem (whose ends curl down) splits into five elongated, obround sections that curve upward, vaguely reminiscent of a cluster of bananas. Each section is marked by a single characteristic Devil Fruit spiral on its rounded end, alongside two eye-like markings below that make such sections resemble sheeted ghosts. [4]
Strengths [ ]

Perona surrounded by multiple Hollows.
The fruit bestows the ability to conjure forth ghosts referred to as Hollows ( ホロ , Horo ? ) that are fully under the user's control. [2] These Hollows can come in different sizes depending on what the user desires, [1] [5] [6] but they all appear as white, transparent, sheet-like beings with round black eyes and huge lips, as well as a tongue usually sticking out.
The Hollows are able to fly and, being intangible, are immune to physical attacks. [7] [8] [9] The most basic of these forms are the Negative Hollows; should a person have a Negative Hollow pass through them or vice versa, they will immediately fall on their knees and become very negative about themselves, sometimes to the point of wanting to commit suicide. [10]
The user can also produce small round ghosts called Mini Hollows [5] or large round ghosts called Toku Hollows [6] which are tangible, allowing them to latch onto their opponents. The user then can make these Hollows explode on command, causing shockwave explosions that damage the target. [11] [12] The strength of the explosions is directly proportional to the size of the ghost; the larger the ghost, the more powerful the explosion. [11]

Perona's astral projection passing through Usopp's body.
Perona also uses the Negative Hollows to gather information from different areas. [13] [14] Should Perona wish to, she can link her consciousness to many Negative Hollows [15] in order to create her Ghost Network, which she uses to gather information about events occurring on Thriller Bark. [14] She can also use this ability as a form of astral projection; Perona projects her own "hollow" or spirit which looks exactly like her, [16] is impervious to physical attack, [17] can summon ghosts, [5] [6] change size, [18] fly, [19] [20] and is intangible. [21]
After the timeskip, Perona can use some of the powers formerly exclusive to her astral projection, such as flight, without having to leave her body. [22]
Weaknesses [ ]
Though the power of the Negative Hollows is seemingly impossible to overcome or resist no matter how hardened one's spirit is, [10] it cannot affect anyone who is originally pessimistic about themselves; this was demonstrated when several of Perona's Negative Hollows passed through Usopp , who, due to being pessimistic about his own abilities, was completely unaffected by them. [23] In fact, the third time Perona tried it on him, with four ghosts instead of one, Usopp's negativity caused their power to backfire on Perona's Negative Hollows, resulting in them collapsing in negativity instead. [24]
While the shockwaves the Hollows produce upon exploding can be massive, they can be prevented from causing any damage by using unique methods, such as Usopp's Impact Dial . [25] Also, whenever she links her consciousness to her Hollows, the user's physical body must be left behind, allowing an opponent to attack it while it is defenseless. [15] [26] [27] And while the user is in spirit form, they cannot physically attack anyone.
Other than all that, the user is affected by the standard Devil Fruit weaknesses.

Perona's astral projection taking a gigantic size.
The fruit's bestowed powers, as used by Perona, have been used for both combat [28] [29] and information gathering situations. [13] [14] She has used her Negative Ghosts to weaken enemies so that her allies, like Absalom 's Soldier Zombies, can have a distinct advantage when fighting them. [30] She has also used her ghosts in an elaborate information-gathering and surveillance system called the Ghost Network ( ゴースト・ネットワーク , Gōsuto Nettowāku ? ) in order to monitor the events occurring on Thriller Bark . [14]
In addition to her usual Negative Hollows, Perona can also use her Devil Fruit powers to create explosive ghosts of varying sizes [5] [6] that she can use to physically injure her opponents. [29] Another ghost she can create looks exactly like her and can float in midair, [19] go through solid objects, [21] and change shape. [18] This ghost is actually an astral projection of Perona's consciousness, which allows her to attack opponents without them attacking her directly. [16]
Techniques [ ]

Perona pierces Usopp with a Negative Hollow.
- Negative Hollow ( ネガティブ・ホロウ , Negatibu Horō ? ) : Perona sends out a ghost that can drain the will of any person it comes into contact with, making them very negative and depressed about themselves [10] as long as the person was not already very negative to begin with. [23] This technique was first witnessed being used against Monkey D. Luffy , Franky , and Roronoa Zoro in the Dead Forest, [10] but was not named until Perona used it to prevent Luffy from escaping the Mysterious Four. [31]
- Yonbai no Negative Kogeki ( 四倍のネガティブ攻撃 , Yonbai no Negatibu Kōgeki ? , literally meaning "Quadruple Negative Attack") : Perona sends four Negative Hollows at four separate targets, [32] or a single target, [33] draining their will. [34] This technique is only named in the anime . It is called Quadruple Negative Attack: Negative Hollows in the Funimation dub.

Perona summons her Mini Hollows.
- Mini Hollow ( ミニホロ , Mini Horo ? ) : Perona creates miniature, rotund ghosts the size of her palm and attaches them to her opponent. This technique was first witnessed being used against Usopp . [35]
- Ghost Rap ( ゴースト・ラップ , Gōsuto Rappu ? ) : After attaching her Mini Hollows to an opponent, Perona makes them explode with a snap of her fingers. A single explosion is powerful enough to create a sizeable crater in a stone wall. [36] This was first witnessed being used against Usopp. [37]

Perona's Toku Hollow prepares to attack Usopp.
- Toku Hollow ( 特ホロ , Toku Horo ? , literally meaning "Special Hollow") : Perona creates a much bigger version of her Mini Hollows and attaches it to her opponent by having it bite them. These ghosts appear to be somewhat tangible, as one managed to lift Usopp off the ground with its mouth. [38] In the Viz Manga, this is called Special Hollow .
- Kamikaze Rap ( 神風ラップ , Kamikaze Rappu ? , literally meaning "Divine Wind Rap") : Perona snaps her fingers and detonates her Toku Hollow, causing a massive explosion. This was first witnessed being used against Usopp. [39]
- Negative Ghost ( ネガティブゴースト , Negatibu Gōsuto ? ) : Claimed by Perona's subordinates to be her strongest combo, she generates three Negative Hollows and a Toku Hollow. This was first witnessed being used against Bartholomew Kuma , who prevented Perona from completing the attack by "pushing" her to Kuraigana Island , leaving its full power and effects unknown. [40]
- Yutai Ridatsu ( 幽体離脱 , Yūtai Ridatsu ? , literally meaning "Astral Projection") : Perona's spirit leaves her body. While in this form, she can fly and is intangible and immune to harm like a ghost, while also being able to produce other ghosts. While this allows her to attack her opponent without them being able to retaliate, it also makes her body unconscious and immobile, leaving it vulnerable to attacks. Therefore, Perona must leave her physical body somewhere secure and far way from the enemy beforehand. This technique was seen during her fight with Usopp. This technique was never named in the manga or anime, but was named in the videogame One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 .
Non-Canon Techniques [ ]
- Ghost Masquerade ( 幽霊舞会 ( ゴスト・マスクレイド ) , Gosuto Masukurēdo ? , literally meaning "Ghost Dance") : Perona depresses enemies with Negative Hollows before sending them all flying by detonating a Toku Hollow. It is one of Perona's special moves, and requires one special gauge to perform. It is referred to as Spirit Dance in the English version game's menu in One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 , though its correct name appears in the English version game's menu in One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 . First appeared in One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 .
- Astral Explosion ( 幽体 ( アストラル ) ・エクスポローション , Asutoraru Ekusuporōshon ? ) : Perona creates a huge astral projection of her upper body, which rises from the ground and creates a giant Toku Hollow that unleashes a giant explosion on nearby enemies. It is one of Perona's special moves and requires two special gauges to perform. First appeared in One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 .
- The astral projection power of this fruit is similar to that of Brook's Yomi Yomi no Mi .
- Interestingly, both games imply that the user's astral projection is capable of depressing people as well.
- Usopp's loss of immunity can be seen during gameplay, as he can be affected by Negative Hollows while under the effects of the Frenzy Dial's fog.
- The fruit can be considered an inverse of the Kobu Kobu no Mi , which instead encourages its targets and strengthens their fighting spirit.

Submit a name to secret santa #breaking-news { background-color: green; }, the house on king road: a look at the moscow home where four u of i students were killed.

Sally Krutzig and Kevin Fixler, Idaho Statesman

( Idaho Statesman ) — At 1122 King Road in Moscow sits a gray six-bedroom, three-bathroom house that continues to be the source of significant national attention.
Known as a student rental, the home’s most recent tenants were a group of six University of Idaho undergraduates who signed a 12-month lease that began on June 5, according to the property management firm that oversees the home.
Three of the student renters would not live to see the end of their lease.
The tenants were Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, Bethany Funke and Dylan Mortensen, as well as an unnamed sixth person on the lease.

In the early morning hours of Sunday, Nov. 13, Mogen, Goncalves, Kernodle and Kernodle’s boyfriend, Ethan Chapin, were stabbed to death in the house. Police found two bodies on the second floor and two bodies on the third floor, but have not released which victims were discovered where.
Mortensen and Funke were on the first floor of the home and went unharmed. Police have said they were not involved in the killings.
Nearly six weeks have passed, and law enforcement still has not named a suspect in the quadruple homicide.
The Idaho Statesman used photos from rental listings and documents submitted by former owners to the city of Moscow to explore the layout of the King Road house. Depictions of the floors are approximations created by the Statesman based on that information.
Just north of the home is the university’s new Greek Row , where many fraternity and sorority activities take place. That proximity meant the area was particularly popular among those involved in U of I Greek life.
About 1,600 students are members of the school’s fraternities and sororities. That total represents 23% of the roughly 7,000 undergraduate students enrolled in fall 2022 at the Moscow campus, according to university spokespeople.
Goncalves was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority, while Mogen and Kernodle were members of Pi Beta Phi. Funke is a member of Pi Phi as well, and identified Mogen as her “big sister” in a letter she wrote that was read at a Dec. 2 memorial . Mortensen also appears in multiple photos reviewed by the Statesman, including with Funke, on the sorority’s Facebook page, wearing clothing with Pi Phi insignia.
Many renters in the area around King Road were overflow from the nearby fraternities and sororities, said Merida McClanahan, supervisor at Team Idaho Real Estate & Property Management.
“ we have a lot of university students as our tenants and we’ve got quite a few of the properties down there on King Road,” McClanahan told the Statesman in a phone interview. “It’s a tight-knit community. They’re on the back side of campus right across the street from Greek Row, and those kids cycle in and out.”
The listed owner of the King Road property didn’t return email and phone messages from the Statesman.

David Janssen, 32, a former U of I graduate student who said he’s a five-year tenant of an apartment complex adjacent to the rental home, confirmed that fraternity and sorority members appear to dominate the tightly packed neighborhood.
The surrounding Greek life environment contributed to what those familiar with the neighborhood, including Janssen, described in interviews with the Statesman as a loud party culture in the conjoined dead-end streets of King and Queen roads.
“This has always been a party place since I’ve lived here — always,” said Sean Hundley, 34, a nearly lifelong Moscow resident, and maintenance person for the adjacent apartment complex.
The tenants of the King Road house had received three noise complaints for loud music since August, according to a Statesman review of Moscow police reports. Two came on the same night in early September from separate neighbors in two single-family homes, each about a quarter-mile away, on the street located above the valley where the King Road house sits.
Goncalves received a warning from police for the first noise complaint in August. Mogen and Kernodle each received law enforcement warnings from the two complaints in September, according to the police reports.
In recently released Moscow police body-cam footage posted on YouTube , officers were shown trying to track down a resident of the home after the first of the September noise complaints.
“I guarantee you they’re associated with a sorority,” Moscow Police Sgt. Dustin Blaker said in the footage, to a male student who didn’t live at the home. “As many of them are living here, it’s an off-campus sorority house.”

The King Road home’s six bedrooms had at one time been rented as separate apartments, according to McClanahan, with the property management firm.
“Primarily for the last 12 years, it has been rented as one unit as a single-family home,” McClanahan said.
The house originally had two floors, but an owner requested to add the lowest floor in 2000, according to Moscow city permits. Built into a hillside, the house has one exterior door on each floor.
The home is 3,120 square feet, according to Zillow . The Latah County Assessor’s Office assessed its value at $343,848 in August.
The first floor

All of the tenants except the sixth unnamed person on the lease, who police said had moved out before the start of the school year, were home at the time of the Nov. 13 attack. The five housemates, along with Chapin, were all back at the King Road house by 1:56 a.m., police said. Call records made by Mogen and Goncalves indicated the attack happened sometime after they placed a phone call at 2:52 a.m., according to The New York Times.
The roommates on the first floor, Mortensen and Funke, likely were asleep until later that morning, according to police.
Attempts by the Statesman to reach Funke and Mortensen have been unsuccessful.
At 11:58 a.m., a 911 call was made from inside the house on one of the surviving roommates’ cellphones, according to police. The roommates summoned friends to the house because they believed one of the victims on the second floor had passed out and was not waking up. Multiple people spoke with the 911 dispatcher before officers arrived, police said.
Authorities have declined to release the 911 recording, citing an ongoing investigation.
On social media, many have expressed disbelief that Mortensen and Funke would not have woken up during the killings. However, former first-floor tenant Ryan Augusta told Fox News that he typically “heard nothing” from the second and third floors when he lived there in 2019. Reached by the Statesman, Augusta said he stood by his prior statement.
City records and photos from online rental listings indicate the first floor has two bedrooms that open into a shared hallway. The hallway also leads to a bathroom and a stairway that goes to the second floor.
A door between the bedrooms opens to the property’s driveway.
The second floor

The second floor of the home includes a living room, two bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen. This floor can be accessed from the outside through a sliding glass door between the porch and the kitchen.
This floor has two separate staircases, one that leads to the first floor and one to the third floor.
Kernodle lived on the second floor, her mother, Cara Northington, said in an interview this month with NewsNation . Chapin’s mother, Stacy Chapin, previously confirmed to the Statesman that her son spent the night at his girlfriend’s house.
The third floor

The third floor of the home includes a bathroom and two bedrooms — one of which has a balcony with a sliding glass door. This floor can be accessed only by the staircase from the second floor.
Goncalves’ father, Steve Goncalves, said his daughter and Mogen lived on the third floor, according to Fox News. He said he believes that the two women, close friends since childhood, both slept in Mogen’s room the night of the killings.
Two items — a pair of pink boots frequently worn by Mogen in social media photos and a decorative letter M— could be seen in the window of bedroom E following the homicides. Goncalves posted social media videos from bedroom F.
Goncalves had a dog named Murphy who was home at the time of the attack, police said. Officers found the dog in a room where the crimes were not committed, but do not know where he was at the time of the killings, according to a news release. Police found no evidence on the dog, they said.

What We Know About the Drone Attack on Moscow
Russia’s Defense Ministry said that at least eight drones had targeted Moscow and the surrounding region.

Moscow came under a drone attack early Tuesday, according to Russian officials, the first strike to hit civilian areas in the capital and another sign that the war in Ukraine is increasingly touching the heart of Russia.
Here is what we know about the attack.
What happened?
Explosions were reported in Moscow early on Tuesday morning, with Russia’s Defense Ministry saying that at least eight drones had targeted the capital and the surrounding region.
All of the drones were intercepted, the ministry said in a statement, saying that electronic jamming measures forced some to deviate from intended targets and that others had been shot down outside the city limits by air defenses. It did not specify what the targets may have been.
Three residential buildings in Moscow were damaged by drones after they were intercepted, according to the office of the Russian prosecutor general. Some residents were briefly evacuated early Tuesday, said Sergei Sobyanin, the city’s mayor.
Mr. Sobyanin said in a post on the Telegram messaging app that two people required medical attention but that no one was seriously injured.
Who was behind the attack?
Russia’s Ministry of Defense blamed the Ukrainian government for what it described as a “terrorist attack.”
A spokesman for Ukraine’s Air Force, which typically maintains a policy of strategic ambiguity about any strikes on Russian territory, declined to comment on the attack. But Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine, said Kyiv was not “directly involved” in the drone assault on Moscow, though was “happy” to watch.
Russia’s Investigative Committee, the country’s equivalent to the F.B.I., said it had started an inquiry into the attack.
What was targeted?
The intended target of the drone attack was not immediately clear. Video verified by The New York Times shows a 25-story residential building on the southwestern outskirts of Moscow lightly scorched on the exterior. The wreckage of a drone wing is shown just outside the building.
Other videos verified by The Times were filmed eight miles away, outside a building where Russian news media reported that a drone had flown inside. The footage shows two apparent drone wings outside the residential building.
In additional video footage, a third building, also reported to have been hit by a drone, has a broken window. All three residential buildings in the videos are along the southwestern outskirts of Moscow in upper-middle-class areas of the city.
Why is it significant?
Moscow is about 310 miles from the border with Ukraine, and the attack on Tuesday was the first time that drones have hit residential areas of the city since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Earlier this month, there were nighttime explosions over the Kremlin, which Russia said were a drone attack and an assassination attempt on President Vladimir V. Putin. On the day of the blasts, Mr. Zelensky publicly denied responsibility, asserting that Ukraine fights on its own territory. U.S. intelligence officials said that one of Ukraine’s special military or intelligence units most likely orchestrated the attack , adding that they had “low” confidence that the Ukrainian government had directly authorized it.
American officials have in the past voiced concern that Ukrainian attacks on Russian soil could provoke Mr. Putin without having a direct effect on the battlefield — one reason that Washington has withheld from Ukraine weapons that could be used to strike deep into Russia.
The reality of the war in Ukraine has largely been perceived as distant for much of the Russian public, but the attacks on Moscow could change that and possibly even threaten overall support for Mr. Putin’s handling of what the Kremlin has called the “ special military operation .”
One worry is that attacks in Russia could serve as a pretext for Mr. Putin to escalate the war in some way, such as striking key government buildings in Kyiv and trying to decapitate the Ukrainian government.
The Kremlin’s reaction to Tuesday’s drone attack was muted. Dmitri S. Peskov, the Kremlin’s spokesman, told reporters that the Defense Ministry “acted well” in responding to the attack, but declined to comment further. Mr. Putin briefly commented on the attack, telling a reporter that Russia’s air defenses had proved adequate. “We have stuff to do,” he said in a video clip published by state news media. “We know what needs to be done.”
