A Legend is Made

Cs — sts — gl, the project.

In a world where all supplement brands look the same, GHOST® set out to BE SEEN and make an impact—not just in the gym but in the lives of their consumers. When our creative energy was matched with the GHOST® team’s knowledge and drive to disrupt their industry, what started as explorations of a ghost logo quickly lead to package design, website design, a one-of-a-kind rewards program, and swag GHOST® fans always stop and ask us about on the street.

By turning GHOST®’s vision into a creative reality, we helped create a brand that revolutionized the workout supplement landscape. At the heart of it, GHOST® wants you to make gains in all aspects of your life—and while the products are in high demand, the number of fans engaging with their brand grows with the same steadiness as their squat weight. There’s nothing in the market that looks like GHOST® because there’s no one else with the same grind to make it happen.

Details that demand to be noticed.

Transparency in ingredients sets GHOST® apart from traditional supplement brands and has been an important pillar of the company from its concept. As creatives, these are the details we salivate over. The details that give us the opportunity to incorporate nods to a brand’s identity into visual branding, in a creative puzzle that has to stay on brand while thinking outside the box. To do this, we added a transparent lid to their products as a nod to their transparent ingredients. With a brand pattern on the induction seal, which most brands leave white, the lid gives a subtle peek at the branded seal through the transparent top.

As the most visible asset of the brand, it was important for us to highlight the story of the flavors on GHOST®’s labels. Each product flavor is unique to GHOST®, with food specific brand collaborations allowing for real flavors instead of generic knock offs. Working with brands like Warheads, Swedish Fish, and Sour Patch Kids, GHOST® was the first in their industry to reinvent how flavors are approached. To elevate this aspect of the brand, each flavor bar is designed exclusively for its designated product—with touches of texture on the labels to add dimension and discoverable details unique to each flavor. Go into a GNC and see for yourself, no one else looks like GHOST®.

A Logo’s Origin Story

As an employee at a large corporation, founder Dan Lourenco felt like a ghost behind the scenes. He wanted his voice to matter, to be heard, and make an impact and he wanted to encourage others to live the same way.

Those values are the core of their mission BE SEEN and resonate in every aspect of the brand. From this perspective and experience came the name, GHOST®, and from that story came a logo that we still pat ourselves on the back over.

Digital ghost experience, digital experience.

To create a digital web experience to match GHOST®’s unique story and products, we designed a fully responsive website while focusing on user flow and purchasing process. The PDP (Product Display Page) allows the user to pay directly with a card or the GHOST® Loyalty program point system.

About GHOST Supplements

GHOST Supplements Review

GHOST is not only a supplements company, but it’s also a lifestyle brand (hence the name, GHOST Lifestyle). They honestly make me wish I was cool enough to be featured on their website, which I am not.

That being said, something that really stands out about this company is how much they seem to care about their customers. Their loyalty program not only gives you points for buying things, but it also gives you points for literally just going to the gym and posting on Instagram.

Plus, with their impressive 377k followers on Instagram and 88k followers on Facebook, they have a strong presence on social media. So, it’s obvious that this is a popular brand.

In this GHOST supplements review, I’ll tell you everything you need to know about their products, customer experiences, and more, to help you decide if their products are right for you.

Overview Of GHOST Supplements

GHOST Supplements Review

GHOST is trying to do something completely innovative in their field. This standout company provides utmost transparency about its ingredients, pays attention to details, and has authentic flavors, interesting branding, and exclusive collabs. I won’t deny I’m impressed!

The brand’s website also features a blog that provides in-depth examinations of new products, recipes from their ‘fam,’ desktop backgrounds, commentary on social justice movements, and more. Additionally, they have a YouTube channel that gives wicked behind-the-scenes access to their company and products, plus it highlights their processes and overall growth.

They even have an app , which gives customers access to early promos, product launches, and the ability to shop for their items with ease. And, if that’s not enough, you can also use the app to earn rewards.

Before checking out their popular products, let’s start this GHOST supplements review with some highlights.

  • A lifestyle brand that sells supplements, apparel, and gear
  • Transparent about ingredients
  • Exciting range of flavors
  • Ships internationally
  • 15-day satisfaction guarantee

GHOST Supplements Pre-Workout Review

Gluten-free? Check. Soy-free? Check. Sugar-free? Check. Vegan friendly? Check. Need to get revved up for a big training sesh? If so, you’ve landed on the right article.

Up ahead in my GHOST supplements review, I will look at some of the brand’s bestselling pre-workout products . And dang, they look tasty.

GHOST Supplements Legend X Sour Patch Kids Pre-Workout Review

GHOST Supplements Legend X Sour Patch Kids Pre-Workout Review

Give me anything Sour Patch Kids and I’m sold. Available in Redberry flavor , these pre-workout supplements are packed with a ton of ingredients to help promote healthy muscle cell regeneration, improve your mood, and enhance your focus.

Let’s break things down a bit more. Legend X Sour Patch Kids pre-workout supplement has a full-disclosure label that shows the precise amount of each ingredient, so you know exactly what you’re putting in your body. Here’s an overview:

  • 4G of L-Citrulline: A ‘pump’ ingredient that stimulates blood and oxygen flow to muscles during your workout
  • 3.2G of Beta-Alanine: An ingredient that aids in the production of carnosine, a compound that helps with muscle endurance and overall strength
  • 250MG of Natural Caffeine: Helps give you a little kick with less crash
  • 1.5G of Nitrosigine®: A new-age pump ingredient shown to be five times more effective than Arginine
  • Senactiv®: Improves and speeds up workout recovery by promoting healthy muscle regeneration
  • 100MG of L-Tyrosine: This amino acid enhances the production of dopamine, epinephrine, and norepinephrine
  • Alpha-GPC : A nootropic that boosts cognitive functioning and improves your ability to focus

You can get 25 servings of the Legend X Sour Patch Kids for a one-time purchase of $45 .

GHOST Supplements Legend X Bubblicious Pre-Workout Review

GHOST Supplements Legend X Bubblicious Pre-Workout Review

Batter up! This Legend X Bubbalicious Pre-Workout collab will give you the energy you need to run those bases like the true champ you are. Whether your taste buds are craving the classic (and best, let’s be real) Strawberry Splash flavor, or the new Lightning Lemonade option, you’ll love the way this pre-workout supplement tastes and makes you feel.

The ingredients list is exactly the same as the Sour Patch Kids collab supplement, so the most difficult choice you need to make is which throwback, nostalgic candy is your favorite.

You can purchase 25 servings of the Legend X Bubbalicious Pre-Workout outright for $45 .

GHOST Supplements Protein Review

Protein blends aren’t just for bodybuilders to put on mass, or whatever they use protein for. While reading customer comments for this GHOST supplements review, I came across a nurse who swore that the shakes get through her 13-hour shifts.

In this next portion of our GHOST supplements review, I’ll check out some of the brand’s bestselling protein powders.

GHOST Supplements Whey Protein Review

GHOST Supplements Whey Protein Review

Whey not give this 100% whey protein blend a try? Sorry, I had to. GHOST claims that this is some of the “purest, fully disclosed whey protein on the market.” With at least 25G per product, the detailed, full disclosure label tells you exactly how many grams of protein isolate, concentrate, and hydrolysate are included in every scoop.

The whey protein blend is also gluten and soy-free. Whey is this important? Okay, I’ll stop. Soy contains phytoestrogens that mimic the estrogen that’s created in the body. Which, according to many sources, isn’t good for men or women—so they only use sunflower lecithinated whey instead.

Flavors available include Coffee Ice Cream, Cereal Milk, Peanut Butter Cereal Milk, Fruity Cereal Milk, Marshmallow Cereal Milk, Cinnamon Cereal Milk, and Milk Chocolate.

For a 2lbs container , this protein powder costs $40 .

GHOST Supplements Whey x Chips Ahoy! Protein Review

GHOST Supplements Whey x Chips Ahoy! Protein Review

As if the whey protein blend couldn’t get any better, now they’ve added cookies. Literally, there are real Chips Ahoy! cookie pieces in this protein blend. So, you don’t even need to reserve it for a cheat day—you can indulge in this decadent mix on a regular basis.

The contents are the same as their OG whey blend (featured just before this one), however, the price is $45 .

So far in this GHOST supplements review, I’ve checked out pre-workout supplements and protein blends. The next few best-selling products can be used for your workouts, but are also just great additions to a healthy lifestyle.

GHOST Supplements Energy Drink Review

GHOST Supplements Energy Drink Review

Have you wanted to get that kick from an energy drink but have been too scared of what’s inside? Worry not, with GHOST. Like all their products, their GHOST Energy drink has a full-disclosure label, telling you exactly what it’s made of.

Here’s the breakdown:

  • 200mg of Natural Caffeine: Sourced from a coffee bean to deliver a smoother, more balanced energy without side effects like jitters or crashes
  • Carnipure® L-Carnitine: According to GHOST, this high-quality form of L-Carnitine helps your body convert “fatty acids into energy”
  • Alpha-GPC: As a brain booster, it enhances attention and improves focus
  • Neurofactor™: Extracted from the whole fruit of a coffee plant (plus the bean), this ingredient improves brain function and cognitive abilities
  • AstraGin®: It helps the body absorb nutrients more efficiently

Sounds pretty simple, doesn’t it? And if that wasn’t enough to convince you, the flavors are to die for—they include Citrus, Tropical Mango, Warheads Sour Watermelon, Bubbalicious Strawberry Splash, and Sour Patch Kids Redberry and Blue Raspberry.

Check out the company’s website to find a store near you that carries these energy boostin’ bevvys.

GHOST Supplements Greens Review

GHOST Supplements Greens Review

This vegan-friendly, soy-free, and gluten-free blend of green veggies and red fruits is exactly what you need to ensure the healthiest digestion. Beyond the fact that it’s packed full of ingredients, “your mom would be proud of” , claims GHOST , they’ve partnered with One Tree Planted to plant one tree per tub sold, making Mother Nature proud too!

Here’s the comprehensive ingredients list:

  • 4.3G of Greens: Nutrient-packed, quality ingredients like organic cracked cell wall chlorella, organic matcha, and organic spirulina
  • 2.2G Reds: Sourced from red fruits that are rich in phytonutrients (aka polyphenols) and carotenoids full of antioxidants
  • 100mg of Spectra: A special blend of fruits, vegetables, and herbs that’s rich with antioxidants—according to GHOST, it’s the first ingredient “scientifically proven to inhibit free radical production, optimize cellular metabolic activity, and increase nitric oxide levels”
  • Prebiotics: They’re taken to increase healthy bacteria in the gut and promote healthy digestion
  • Probiotics: These ‘good bacteria’ promote a healthy digestive and immune system
  • Digestive Enzymes: GHOSTS states that these enzymes help “break down carbohydrates, refined sugars, proteins, and fats” to aid digestion and improve nutrient absorption

This supplement is available in three yummy flavors: Lime, Original, and Guava Berry. A 30-serving tub will cost you $45.00 .

GHOST Supplements BCAA Review

GHOST Supplements BCAA Review

This tasty performance-enhancing powder is a great alternative to sugary sports drinks or juices. Available in Lemon Crush, Kiwi Strawberry (my personal fave), and Blueberry Açai, the BCAA will keep you hydrated through even the toughest workout. Plus, this product promises even more benefits.

Here are a couple of the key ingredients in this item:

  • 7G of BCAAs: A 2:1:1 ratio of 3500MG Leucine, 1750MG Isoleucine, and 1750MG Valine
  • AstraGin®: Helps your body absorb nutrients, such as amino acids, proteins, and glucose

For 30 servings, BCAA costs $28.00 .

GHOST Supplements Burn Review

GHOST Supplements Burn Review

Pump, pump it up! Just two scoops of this non-stimulating pre-workout formula and you’ll be ready to slay whatever your trainer throws at you.

Here’s the extensive ingredients breakdown:

  • 6G of L-Citrulline (vegan fermented): L-Citrulline, without the addition of acidic Citruline Malate, helps you pump up but won’t upset your stomach
  • 3G of Arginine Nitrate (NO3-T®): This special ingredient works to get rid of nitric oxide in a highly effective manner to boost your overall pump experience
  • PureWay-C™: A highly advanced Vitamin C that’s been proven to be superior to others on the market
  • Setria® L-Glutathione: According to GHOST , “Setria L-Glutathione has been shown to support NO production and sustain NO levels when combined specifically with L-Citrulline”
  • AstraGin®: You know the drill by now—it’s made to help you absorb nutrients—so you can get the most out of GHOST’s products

It’s available in three flavors: Peach, Pineapple, and ‘Natty.’ You can purchase a container, with 40 servings, for $40 .

Who Are GHOST Supplements For?

GHOST Supplements Review

While researching for this GHOST supplements review, it was clear the language used on their website was intended for the younger generations . I can just picture my grandmother reading the ingredient list and saying, “What does AF mean?”

Plus, the products themselves are geared towards those on a fitness journey , who are looking to enhance their workout experience. Unlike other supplement companies that carry products like prenatal vitamins, or vitamins for skin and hair, GHOST is definitely more interested in those who frequent the gym.

Comparison: GHOST vs. Olympus Lyfestyle

GHOST Supplements Review

For this portion of the GHOST supplements review, let’s do a quick comparison between our featured brand and its competitor , Olympus Lyfestyle. And, based on these factors, you can decide which brand’s products you’d like to try first.

First of all, both brands have similar flavors and similar branding, since they each feature lots of high-contrast colors, youthful designs, and fruity options. However, GHOST sells lots more products with popular candy or cookie flavors —and some even have bits of these items directly in the product itself!

Price-wise, Olympus Lyfestyle’s products seem to cost less money overall, which is definitely a perk for those that are on a budget.

Additionally, they both value transparency and disclose every ingredient in each item on the product label. A quick glance at the ingredients list of an item from either brand will make one thing clear: each company adds lots of exclusive, potent extracts to its products. And, of course, it’s these powerful, active ingredients that bodybuilders are looking for.

As far as popularity goes, GHOST has a much bigger social media presence than Olympus Lystyle does. Also, aside from followers, I found way more positive GHOST reviews online from incredibly satisfied customers.

And it’s worth noting that GHOST carries a more extensive product line, with a wider variety of items to choose from. That means that they’re equipped to meet all your workout supplement needs.

GHOST Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

GHOST Supplements Review

For the most part, customers seem to love GHOST, their customer service, and their products. Here are a few GHOST supplement reviews from happy buyers.

Clint Philpot left a five-star rating on Trustpilot, stating, “Best flavors ever!” Then, he continues expanding on his review:

“Just can’t express how much I love sour patch kids! BCAA and Legends are my stack and it’s so good. I will be back for more. Would love to try some other flavors, but can’t seem to catch some while in stock.”

Sam Jones also left a five-star rating on Trustpilot. In his glowing review, however, he raved about GHOST’s whey protein . He begins his review by stating, “I love their whey protein!” , then he explains why:

“I love their whey protein so much. I’m a Bariatric patient that has tried every brand of protein shakes. The Nutter Butter is my fave. GHOST is by far the tastiest. No grittiness and no bitter aftertaste. Feels like I’m enjoying a treat. My husband also love their pre-workout too. My only critique is please re-stock soon!”

And the positive feedback doesn’t stop there. Kori Sassman gave GHOST a five-star rating on Trustpilot, and she had nothing but good things to say about their energy drinks:

“I recently discovered GHOST energy drinks the other week and purchased a case at my local wellness store and I must say they are amazing that I just purchased 5 more cases! Being a Nurse I need all the energy I can get for my 13+ hour shifts. I used to only drink Bangs but after discovering how tasty and non carbonated GHOST are they are my new go to. My favorite flavor is the mango and sour patch blue one! Deff worth the try!!”

With all these positive reviews, it’s clear that GHOST has lots of happy, loyal customers. However, I did find one negative review on Trustpilot.

A customer that left a one-star rating complained that the products, shipping, and customer service left much to be desired. He also pointed out that the products sold in the UK versus in the USA seemed to be different and of lesser quality.

It’s worth noting that my GHOST supplements review focused solely on the brand’s products that are sold in the USA. As such, I can’t validate this individual’s review, since he’s in the UK. However, it’s safe to say that there are way more positive reviews than negative ones—which says a lot about the brand itself!

Are GHOST Supplements Worth It?

GHOST Supplements Review

After writing this GHOST supplements review, I can safely say I think this company is worth the try for a few key reasons.

First, the brand channels who they are, what they represent, and their aesthetic, into everything they do, which makes them seem trustworthy and sure of themselves. Their style is cohesive and approachable , so customers feel cool when they use their products.

Plus, their ingredient lists are very clearly labeled and displayed , with no intention to hide anything from the consumer. Beyond that, the ingredients they use seem clean and carefully curated, which helps them deliver the best possible products to their customers.

GHOST Supplements Promotions & Discounts

GHOST Supplements Review

Other than that, as previously mentioned, the brand has a GHOST Loyalty program . There are many ways you can earn points, and when you’ve earned enough, you can use them to purchase products on the company’s website. I think that’s a sweet deal!

The Ghost Story

The iconic British brand, Ghost London, launched three decades ago and has since become an established fashion house producing contemporary clothing. Maintaining a vintage bohemian feel, Ghost's collections are known for the feminine aesthetic and modern silhouettes.

Prints and fabrics are a key element to every collection and most of these fabrics are woven from viscose yarn and “Garment Dyed”. The trademark of Ghost design is the use of colour which can only be achieved through this “Garment Dye“ process. The process gives the garments a crinkled texture similar to vintage satin; you can view the process here .

PRINTS AND FABRICS

The Ghost philosophy is to always use and maintain our high quality fabrics in every collection. All our fabrics are exclusively produced and woven for us, using the highest quality viscose yarns. From this, we use a unique ‘garment dye’ process and wash all our garments resulting in a luxurious, silk-like yet machine washable texture.

All prints are uniquely designed in-house each season retaining the vintage inspired spirit that the brand is renowned for.

the ghost brand

GARMENT DYE

The soft, fluid nature of fabrics used by Ghost is achieved through the special process of garment dye. Garment dye is an intricate process of washing, shrinking and dyeing which is applied to almost every garment in our collection.

Every garment is constructed in raw material 'Greige Cloth'. The garments are cut several sizes bigger to allow for the process of shrinking that occurs when the viscose fabric is boiled at a high temperature and it is through this process that a greater depth of colour can be achieved in our styles.

It is the unique and tactile quality that makes Ghost's clothing exceptional and unlike any other fashion brand.

the ghost brand

LOW MAINTENANCE AFTERCARE

Ghost Kitchens and Virtual Brands: What Do Customers Think?

New research suggests the restaurant consumer has changed, and maybe for good.

Nextbite And George Lopez

There’s all sorts of talk about the potential of virtual brands and ghost kitchens, but what do customers think? Does it make a difference to them? And, have they even heard of these sorts of things? I decided to do a survey to find out. The survey was conducted in September 2021 and had a total of 198 responses from U.S. adults 18 years and older.

Let’s start off with the last question. Have they even heard of these sorts of things? Well, yes and no. They had certainly heard of the major delivery companies. To put that in perspective, 88.9 percent had heard of DoorDash, 87.9 percent had heard of UberEats, and 82.9 percent had heard of GrubHub.

But, when it came to virtual brands and ghost kitchens, awareness was quite low. Only 4.5 percent of respondents had heard of virtual brands. About 22 percent of respondents had heard of ghost kitchens. Given the proliferation of ghost kitchens during the pandemic, this isn’t particularly surprising.

Back to the question on whether it makes a difference to them—this is where it starts to get interesting. Respondents were randomly assigned to one of five scenarios that varied previous experience with the restaurant (yes or no), the presence of an actual restaurant (yes or no) and if the restaurant company made the food themselves (yes or no).

After people read the scenario, they were asked how likely they would be to order from that restaurant. Interestingly, there was no significant difference. People didn’t really seem to care about previous experience with the restaurant, the presence of an actual restaurant and where food production was done.

Respondents were also asked a series of questions about various things that they might be concerned about when ordering delivery, particularly from a virtual restaurant. Variables included (one) Prefer food prepared at the restaurant itself, (two) Liked having a personal connection with the restaurant, (three) All that matters is that the food is good, (four) I’d be worried about the quality of the food, (five) I’d be concerned about the accuracy of my order, (six) I’d be worried about hygiene, (seven) it makes no difference to me where my order is made and (eight) I’d feel uncomfortable trying things I hadn’t tried before.

The most important factor was “all that matters is that the food is good.” Think about it—people didn’t care that much about a connection with the restaurant, weren’t concerned about the quality of the food and didn’t feel uncomfortable ordering something that they hadn’t tried before. And, people didn’t particularly care where their food was made.

The results were extremely thought-provoking. If customers really don’t care where their food is made, what implications does this have for the restaurant industry? Do customers still want to dine in? Do they still have a favorite restaurant? The answer is probably yes, but based on my research, customers are quite open to other options.

There’s been a lot of talk about whether ghost kitchens and virtual brands are just short-term phenomena that will fade away once we’re finally through the pandemic. The results of this study seem to indicate that this may not be true.

China censored this photo of two athletes. was it for a perceived tiananmen massacre reference.

Gold medalist China's Lin Yuwei, left, hugs teammate Wu Yanni after their women's 100-meter hurdles final at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, October 1, 2023.

China appears to have censored a photograph of two Chinese hurdlers embracing after a race because their lane numbers formed an accidental reference to the Tiananmen massacre in 1989.

The image captures Lin Yuwei, from lane 6, and Wu Yanni, in lane 4, hugging following the women’s 100-meter hurdles final at the Asian Games in Hangzhou.

As they stood together, stickers showing their lane numbers formed “6 4”, a pairing widely seen as a reference to June 4, 1989.

That day Chinese military tanks rolled into the capital Beijing during a bloody crackdown to clear students protesting for democracy in Tiananmen Square .

Beijing tightly controls references to the event, scrubbing all mention of it from the internet within China, and moving quickly to erase any reference to it on social media, including even seemingly innocuous moments when the numbers 6,4 and 89 appear together and are entirely unrelated to Tiananmen.

The race took place on October 1, China’s National Day, a delicate occasion when the authorities are more vigilant against any signs of dissent that may distract from celebrations.

State broadcaster CCTV originally posted the photograph on Weibo, China’s Twitter-like social media service, on Sunday night, but removed it from its account about an hour later, CNN has found.

A search on Weibo Thursday no longer yielded results of the same image, though scattered postings of another photograph showing the two athletes crossing a hurdle with their lane numbers on display – though in an less conspicuous manner – can still be found.

The photograph cannot be found on Baidu, China’s popular search engine, and Google services are blocked in the country.

The image can be seen in an article published Monday by state news agency Xinhua but the numbers have been cropped out of the photo.

CNN has reached out to Weibo, Baidu, CCTV and the Propaganda Department of the Chinese Communist Party for comment.

China imposes stringent censorship not just on criticism of the Communist Party but also matters it deems sensitive and incongruous with the party’s values and ideology.

The rules have in the past led to the censorship of what might appear to some to be innocuous images, such as women’s cleavage and men modeling in lingerie as a gimmick on social media to boost sales.

Vera and the Pleasure of Others

Sales agent M-Appeal has released the trailer for coming-of-age title “Vera and the Pleasure of Others,” which was written and directed by the Argentinian duo Romina Tamburello and Federico Actis. The film will have its world premiere at Black Nights Film Festival in Tallinn, Estonia, in the First Feature Competition, it was announced Friday.

“Vera and the Pleasure of Others” follows 17-year-old Vera (played by Luciana Grasso), who divides her days between volleyball, school and a secret hobby: she rents out an empty apartment to teenagers looking for a place to have sex.

“Vera and the Pleasure of Others” was presented at Ventana Sur’s Primer Corte – Films in Progress in 2022.

The film was produced by Santiago King of Argentina’s Pez Cine, with support from INCAA.

The cinematographer was Lucas Pérez, the editor was Danalí Riquelme, and the composer was Pablo Crespo.

The film is the debut feature from Tamburello and Actis.

Tamburello is the author of the plays “Black Eyed Women” and “Jet Lag.” She is a scriptwriter for the fiction series “Round” and the director of the short film “Rage,” which participated in the Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival. She wrote and directed the documentary series “Catalina, the Woman with the Flag” for Encuentro Channel. She recently published her first novel, “The Devil’s Widow,” and is a showrunner for its television adaptation.

Actis directed the fiction short film “The Cable Cars” and the documentary feature “The Architecture of Crime.” He has worked as a scriptwriter for the cultural television channels Santa Fe Signal and Encuentro. He is currently developing his next feature film, “The Men of the Plain.” He is an alumnus of Berlinale Talents.

‘We need to start taking ghost stories seriously – and stop being so disrespectful’

Danny Robins Uncanny

Danny Robins has previously been described as the ‘UK’s go-to ghost man’ – and he’s got something to say.

Unlike all those haunted house, ghost tour shows we’re so used to, Danny reckons it’s important to take spooky stories from real people seriously.

The BBC presenter – and writer of West End star-studded show 2:22 A Ghost Story – has built up a dedicated fanbase with his hit podcast Uncanny.

In it, he takes a measured approach to ghost stories from real people, discussing what could be behind creepy tales from the perspective of a sceptic, and a believer.

These people, he explains, have often told no one – not even their partners – about these experiences for fear of what their reaction could be. They also utterly believe their stories to be true – and for good reason, as they are often super eerie, and always totally unexplainable.

‘For a long time these paranormal shows that have become popular – the kind of night-vision, screaming mediums, channeling spirits on demand kind of shows were really good fun – but I think they turn ghosts into a bit of a pantomime,’ he told Metro.co.uk from the rehearsal room for his tour.

Danny Robins

‘I am a sceptic who wants to believe,’ explained Danny, who has never had his own supernatural experience – but as a man with a life-long obsession with ghosts, is curious nonetheless. ‘That would probably tip the over the edge,’ he added.

But while he can’t quite bring himself to believe in ghosts yet, the stories Danny has heard are totally unexplainable. ‘All of the stories I tell on Uncanny I lie awake at night wondering what’s going on,’ he admitted.

While aliens are beginning to be taken seriously by the world – with the pentagon publishing a report on UFO activity – ghosts still seem to be dismissed, and laughed at.

‘We as a society have had a problem with talking about ghosts for a long time. We’re quite dismissive and disrespectful to people who have had these experiences,’ said Danny.

Danny Robins

And there are a lot of experiences. While Danny is on pretty much every media medium right now – with a tour of Uncanny, a book out now, a TV showincoming and many podcasts under his belt – there are no story overlaps or repetitions.

‘We have this kind of incredible treasure trove of stories. I think what I’ve realised from doing this is that all of the statistics about how many people have seen a ghost, or how many people believe in ghosts, are wrong.

‘Because there’s so many people out there having these experiences, and I think it’s just they’ve they’ve not been telling anyone about it.’

Well Danny’s talking about it alright. He has done so ever since his friend told him about a ghost encounter they had, and he got the idea of his hit Olivier Award-winning show, 2:22 A Ghost Story, which has starred the likes of Cheryl and Lily Allen as the main characters.

‘The Lily one at the beginning was mind-blowing, I was just a bloke who wrote a play in his shed,’ confessed Danny. ‘Lily was just incredibly, this natural and brilliant actress.’

Danny Robins Uncanny

As a fellow Geordie, it was particularly special for Danny to see Cheryl act his character.

‘Cheryl was someone else who hadn’t acted before. A lot of people thought it was stunt casting, but she blew people away,’ he reflected.

‘It was special for me as well, as I grew up in Newcastle so hearing that role performed in a Geordie accent was really lovely for me.’

But while Danny isn’t a believer as such – even given his clear expertise and interest in the supernatural – one theory, which he explores in his book Into The Uncanny, does pique his interest.

‘The possibility of ghosts and aliens being linked, or somehow coming from the same place. Is there a sense that these experiences are us tapping into a consciousness of some kind?’ he asks, thoughtfully.

‘It’s really interesting when you read accounts of when people believe they’ve been abducted by a UFO – they are incredibly similar to accounts of near death experiences.

‘There is a correlation between UFO reports and ghost reports. It’s an intriguing idea they might not be as different as we think.’

But, honestly? Danny hasn’t the foggiest.

‘We don’t know what is lurking in the shadows behind the bright lights of our understanding,’ he said, full of fascination.

‘The question isn’t, “Do ghosts exist?”, but: “What are they?”‘

Danny Robins, Uncanny, airs on October 13 on BBC2 and BBC iPlayer at 9pm.

His book, Into The Uncanny, is out now . Danny’s podcast, Uncanny, is on BBC Sounds and Spotify. The Uncanny tour tickets are available here .

NEW YORK (AP) — Francisco Álvarez’s hit his first grand slam Saturday night, has more homers before turning 22 than any catcher since Johnny Bench and has earned praise for his defensive work with the New York Mets.

“I think I can do better than that,” Álvarez said after he drove in a career-high six runs to power the Mets to an 11-4 win and a doubleheader sweep of the playoff-bound Philadelphia Phillies.

Mets right-hander Tylor Megill unveiled his attempt at throwing Kodai Senga’s Ghost Fork in the opener, when he threw a career-high 7 1/3 innings in a 4-3 victory.

“We’ve been calling it the American Spork,” Megill said. “Off-brand version.”

Álvarez hit a two-run homer off the signage along the second deck in left field to cap a three-run second against Michael Plassmeyer (0-1). He hit his slam off Plassmeyer almost to the same spot, extending the Mets’ lead to 8-0 in the third.

The 21-year-old has 26 career homers, 16 fewer than Bench from 1967-69.

“I want to do better with my batting average, I want to do better with my OPS, I want to take more walk, I want to have more RBIs,” Álvarez said. “I want to do better with my defense. I want to have better communication with the pitchers.”

Álvarez’s first homer snapped an 0-for-23 skid. In the sixth, he made a basket catch on Kyle Schwarber’s popup.

“His body of work’s been very good for a 21-year-old guy,” Mets manager Buck Showalter said. “I love the way he’s catching every pitch whether it’s 11-4 or flip side.”

Brett Baty and Tim Locastro had run-scoring singles for the Mets in the nightcap while Francisco Lindor hit his 31st homer.

Reed Garrett (1-0) struck out four over three innings to earn his first big league win in relief of José Quintana, who struck out five in four innings. The southpaw gave up a run-scoring single to Cristian Pache in the fourth and Schwarber followed with a three-run homer.

Plassmeyer, pitching for the Phillies for the first time since last Oct. 5, surrendered 10 runs — nine earned — in 3 2/3 innings.

“He laid it on the sword for us,” Phillies manager Rob Thomson said.

Trea Turner left with a bruised left elbow after being hit by a pitch in the seventh. Thomson said Turner is fine but will sit out Sunday’s finale.

Megill gave up four hits and struck out seven while throwing a handful of split-fingered fastballs he learned from Senga, the Mets’ Rookie of the Year contender.

“Just watching him go and throw it — they know it’s coming and getting the swings that he has, it’s like, why not try to implement that in?” Megill said. “I’ve got the fingers, my hands spread out super far, so it feels natural to me.”

Megill exited with two on in the eighth, when Brooks Raley gave up an RBI single to Edmundo Sosa. Adam Ottavino earned his 12th save in 15 chances despite surrendering Marsh’s RBI double and Weston Wilson’s run-scoring single.

Baty and Pete Alonso each had RBIs in the first and Omar Narváez homered leading off the second off Taijuan Walker (15-6), who is in line to start a Game 3 of an NL Wild Card series on Thursday. Walker went seven innings and finished the season with a career-high 172 2/3 innings and 31 starts.

“Lot of ups and downs, wasn’t as consistent as I wanted to be, but I was proud I was able to come in and give us some good innings and make every start,” Walker said.

PASSION PLAY

Daniel Murphy, who hit .529 with four homers during the 2015 NLCS and won MVP honors when the Mets swept the Chicago Cubs, threw out a ceremonial first pitch to his son Noah.

Murphy retired following the pandemic-shortened 2020 season but came back this year with the independent Long Island Ducks. He then played for the Los Angeles Angels’ Triple-A Salt Lake team and hit .295 with one homer in 38 games before retiring again in August.

“I considered this adventure a bit of an experiment,” Murphy said. “And it was just ‘play’ — like my sons, like they do when they’re unsupervised. Just play. And it was great.”

TRAINER’S ROOM

Phillies: RHP Dylan Covey (back) was placed on the 15-day injured list. RHP Luis Ortiz was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley but was optioned to the spring training complex after throwing a scoreless eighth in the opener to make room for Plassmeyer. Philadelphia created a spot on its 40-man roster for Plassmeyer by recalling RHP Erich Uelmen from Lehigh Valley and putting him on the 60-day IL with a right flexor strain.

Mets: CF Brandon Nimmo (UC joint in right shoulder), who was hurt trying to make a diving catch Thursday night, was placed on the 10-day injured list. New York recalled C Michael Pérez from Triple-A Syracuse.

The teams conclude the regular season Sunday, when the Mets send RHP José Butto (1-3, 3.75) to the mound against Phillies RHP Nick Nelson, who will make his season debut.

Alito pauses another ruling from texas judge limiting biden regulations of ghost guns.

Ariane de Vogue

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito on Friday froze a lower court ruling that blocked the Biden administration from regulating so-called ghost guns after a controversial ruling from a district court judge in Texas.

Alito, who has jurisdiction over the lower court involved in the case, said the administrative stay would expire on October 16.

On Thursday, the Biden administration filed an emergency application asking the justices to once again allow the government to regulate so-called ghost guns, arguing that the district court judge had essentially revoked an order the Supreme Court issued just two months ago .

3 arrested, including 2 minors, after ghost guns found in New York City day care

Ghost guns are kits that a user can buy online to assemble a fully functional firearm. They have no serial numbers, do not require background checks and provide no transfer records for easy traceability. Critics say they are attractive to people who are legally prohibited from buying firearms.

In August, a 5-4 court sided with the Biden administration in a challenge brought by a group of manufacturers and allowed the regulations to remain in effect while legal challenges play out.

After the order was issued, however, US district Judge Reed O’Connor stepped in to block the regulations as applied to two manufacturers. The injunction was largely upheld by the 5th US Circuit Court of Appeals.

In an unusually sharp filing , Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar told the justices on Thursday that the district court and the Fifth Circuit “have effectively countermanded this Court’s authoritative determination about the status quo that should prevail during appellate proceedings in this case.”

“In doing so, the lower courts openly relied on arguments that this Court had necessarily rejected,” Prelogar said, adding that the court “should not tolerate that affront.”

“This is the rare application where this Court has already applied the relevant legal standard in the very same case and determined the government should obtain emergency relief,” she said. “The Court’s answer should be the same as it was two months ago.”

In 2022, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives updated its regulations to define the kits as firearms under the law so that the government could more carefully track them.

The rule does not prohibit the sale or possession of any ghost gun kit, nor does it block an individual from purchasing such a kit. Instead, it requires compliance with federal laws that impose conditions on the commercial sale of firearms. Those conditions include requirements that commercial manufacturers and sellers mark products with serial numbers and keep records to allow law enforcement to trace firearms used in crimes.

The headline and story have been updated with additional developments Friday.

4 celebrity PR experts weigh in on whether the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce relationship is actually real or not

  • Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's romance has many wondering whether or not it's a publicity stunt.
  • PR experts and a brand strategist explained to Insider why they believe the coupling is genuine.
  • Swift doesn't benefit as much from this relationship as Kelce and the NFL.

Insider Today

Taylor Swift is in her NFL era.

Ever since the "Cruel Summer" singer accepted an invitation to watch Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce play the Chicago Bears on September 24, everyone from Swifties to football fans have been glued to the pair's every move.

From the outside, it reads like the start of a high-school romance.

After the football star had a missed connection with Swift at one of her concerts in July , he invited her to watch him play at the same venue, Arrowhead Stadium. She then showed up in his private suite, decked in a red-and-white Chiefs jacket, to enthusiastically cheer him on alongside his mom. The Kansas City team delivered on putting on a show for her, demolishing the Bears 41-10 . The pair were subsequently snapped walking out of the stadium together and looking cozy at an after-party .

Many of Swift's fans are already all-in on the romance, believing wholeheartedly (and maybe naively) that their idol would never deceive them. Others, including "The View" host Sara Haines, believe Kelce and Swift's pairing is an elaborate " publicity stunt " full of staged moments , right down to shots of Kelce and Swift seen in what appeared to be a "getaway car," perhaps a reference to a popular Swift song .

"PR relationships have been going on since the beginning of Hollywood," Emma Telesca, a senior publicist at Anderson Group Public Relations , told Insider. "I will say the Taylor Swift effect is on another level."

In recent years, many have speculated famous couples like Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes and Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries were orchestrated, but Telesca and other experts don't think that's what's going on here.

"They obviously enjoy each other's company," Telesca said of Kelce and Swift. "They were at an after-party together. It's not like they just got a pap shot and left."

Insider spoke with three PR experts, including Telesca, and a brand strategist to find out if Kelce and Swift are the real deal.

PR experts aren't buying it's a stunt because they believe Kelce isn't who Swift would choose

"If Taylor Swift wanted to do a publicity stunt, I don't think Travis Kelce would be the guy that she would pick, frankly," Ronn Torossian, founder of 5WPR , told Insider.

Torossian said the singer is famous enough now that she doesn't need to rely on gimmicks for attention, and if that was her goal, she likely would have chosen someone with a bigger profile.

"There are plenty of athletes that you have heard of. Travis Kelce would not be one of them. He does not have the crossover appeal that Taylor Swift is saying, 'Oh my goodness, I'm going to get his fans.' Give me a break," Torossian said.

"She is one of the most famous entertainers in the world. If she wanted to date one of the most famous athletes in the world, I'm confident she could. He would not be one of them," he continued of Kelce, who, at 33, is considered one of the greatest tight ends to ever play in the NFL .

Brand strategist Adam Hanft told Insider that the "Bad Blood" singer appears to do things organically, so he agrees it doesn't appear to be a stunt.

"I think there's something happening there that is spontaneous," Hanft explained. "I think this is an example of something that at least for the moment, feels genuine to me."

Nikki, who asked to only be identified by her first name and represents clients in the entertainment industry, pointed to Swift's cautiousness with overexposure as a reason for the budding relationship's sincerity.

"She doesn't do things that she's not comfortable having out there, and I don't see her as wanting to do this at this time unless she really felt like it was worth it for her personally," Nikki said, adding of Kelce: "Based on everything we've seen, it feels like he really is into her."

Even if the romance is fake, everybody wins

Telesca said the relationship is mutually beneficial for both, regardless of its veracity.

For Swift's part, she stays top of mind while on break from tour and builds hype for two of her major projects next month: Her highly anticipated concert tour movie hits theaters on October 13 and her next rerecorded album, "1989 (Taylor's Version)," is expected to drop two weeks later. And, even if the relationship fizzles out, fans will circle back to discussing it when they are inevitably given a brand-new album to dissect.

Kelce, meanwhile, has seen his jersey sales spike nearly 400% so far. He's gained 1.3 million followers total across Instagram, TikTok, and X (formerly known as Twitter). His podcast " New Heights, " which he hosts with his brother Jason Kelce, soared to No. 1 on Apple .

"It seems pretty clear that he's interested in crossing over out of the sports world and more to a household name for the masses, and this certainly helps with that," Nikki said of how the romance benefits Kelce. "But the way he talks about her and just the path this is all taking feels pretty genuine to me."

But even if it isn't, does it matter? Experts are divided.

"It doesn't actually matter if it is real," said Telesca, who also believes the relationship is genuine. "The bottom line is people are talking about them — talking in their group chats, talking in the press, and it just keeps everybody relevant."

"What matters to them is they're having fun. It looks like they're having a good time and they're in the news," she added.

Torossian disagrees. "Taylor Swift is a hero to many people, a role model to many people. She's obviously had relationship drama in her life. I think it does matter that it's real," Torossian said, adding, "Her whole aura for me is very real, very much of real authenticity. I couldn't see how she could benefit by this being fake."

The biggest winner here isn't Kelce or Swift — it's the NFL

Clearly, Kelce is getting more out of this pairing than Swift, but neither is benefiting as much as the National Football League.

Swift's appearance at the Chiefs and Bears game was the most-watched game on any network in the past week, with 24.3 million viewers. Fox Sports reported the game also ranked first with female viewers ranging from ages 12-17, 18-34, and 18-49 .

"The NFL needs to be thanking its lucky stars for Taylor Swift," Torossian said. "Think about what that does for ticket prices."

Last week, Stubhub reported ticket sales and searches for the Chiefs have tripled ahead of their game against the Jets at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Sunday. Friday morning, the cheapest tickets were priced at $110 .

Higher viewership is expected this weekend as Swift is reported to return to the stadium where she performed in May. If Swift becomes a staple at Chiefs games until she heads to Argentina for the next leg of her Eras Tour in November, she could continue to drive higher ratings.

"The biggest winners in this romance to date would absolutely be the NFL," Torossian added. "They should be riding that train as long as they can."

If Swift is in her NFL era, the NFL is definitely in its Taylor Swift era.
