Sometimes, Combat Strength does not mean anything. This simplistic measure is only accurate when being used to compare two ships with the same range and weaponry. At other times, Range may be much more important.
Here are two examples of Voyager Corvette builds:
Which build will win in a duel? If you only look at Combat Strength, the answer may seem obvious: the Pulse Ray Voyager has over four times the power of the Rail Driver Voyager, so the former will win. But in reality, the latter claims victory most of the time.
Why? Because Rail Driver Voyagers have significantly more range than Pulse Ray Voyagers. This allows them to keep flying away and never allow Pulse Ray Voyagers to get in range to fire, while slowly chipping off the enemy's health as it tries to close the distance, a common tactic called "Kiting". This is a prime example why Range can potentially trump Combat Strength. In general, the larger the Range difference, the less relevant Combat Strength becomes.

The Arc is a battleship with massive firepower. It can activate a special weapon when in Prime Shift that deals heavy damage to a large number of enemies.
Like other Tier 9 Spectre ships, the Arc can recharge its shields even after being fully depleted.

The Arc has more weapon slots than the Deadeye and also has a dual firing arc, making it the ship with the most damage potential. It can deal even more damage in Prime Shift thanks to the bonus to health damage, not to mention its special weapon that can Chain across multiple enemies, amplifying the damage with each hit.
It has superior range than all past battleships that are available to players even when not in Prime Shift, and is also very manueverable. When equipped with NET Missiles , this allows it to kite enemies, even to a greater extent compared to the Deadeye, as battleships can gain distance from the enemy without having to cease fire.
Being a Battleship, it's compatible with Volatile Fuel , which vastly enhances Explosive weapons' projectile speed and blast radius.

Like the Deadeye, the Arc has a limited number of armor slots, so it can be taken down extremely quickly by weapons that have Shield Bypass .
It has slightly less range than the Deadeye, making the latter an excellent counter against this ship.
This ship lacks a regular overdrive, and as such, is relatively weak until it manages to charge up its Prime Shift.
Like other battleships, its two firing arcs are on either side, making it unlikely that it ever gets to use both of them at once without heading straight into the enemy fleet.

- The Arc is the first battleship since Tier 7.
- The Arc's Prime Shift weapon was nerfed in early August 2021 to no longer deal damage to modules. Prior to the nerf, its chaining ability made it extremely deadly against bases as it could easily reach the maximum number of targets. For Mk V and above, the final target that is hit by the overdrive can potentially take 1.5 ^ (10 - 1) = 38.4 times the initial damage!
