As businesses are getting better, and many lifestyle changes. The movie community has not changed preferences. Many people still queue to pay for placement to watch movie in cinema houses. For those who hated queueing, they would buy a VCD or DVD to watch at home. The introduction of e-services has shown that e-commerce website can promote a trendy way for people to perform booking/reservation. As far as the subject matter is concerned, online booking systems can be developed for bus stations, airports, hotels, cinemas and other centers that engage in reservation. However, in this research, we developed an online booking system for cinema house called FLOW entertainments. We used Hypertext MarkUp Language, Cascading Style Sheet and JavaScript for the front end and MySQL database as the back end; and PHP as the scripting language. The designed system was implemented using the XAMPP package. XAMPP comes with the Apache as the server, NetBeans and Dreamweaver CSS were used at the custo...

India is a country which has the world’s largest railway network. The common problems faced by the passengers is that they have to stand in longs Queues for booking the tickets for suburban railway. Though the technology is advancing still the problem exist we can consider an example of Dadar station it’s one of the busiest station where these long queues can be seen Frequently. To overcome this Queues, different methodologies are used like ATVM (Automatic Ticket Vending Machines) machines are introduced which is linked with smart card and now at present its also linked with UTS Application. This smartcard used can be purchased and recharged at ticket counter. The UTS application build is with android platform since android has major hold of the market, considering the present scenario. The ticket can be booked using the application(Softcopy). Later on, CO-ATVM machines were introduces which is an extension of ATVM machine which involves payment through Notes/Coins. There is also ot...

The current railway or bus ticket booking system is human dependent and tedious with regards to the ticket booking process. The core objective of our project is to develop the web-application which will serve as a medium for students/employees/anyone to book the tickets to travel through trains or bus. The principle motive force of this web-application is to ease the process of ticket booking by avoiding the hectic and boisterous process to stand in a queue and book the ticket for the short distance for travelling in the trains. Several applications are available in the market which gives information about the travelling destinations and their fares. However, none of these applications incorporate the ticket booking process coordinated for both train and bus. Our application contrasts from such a lot of existing applications as it would book the ticket as well as save the ticket in the cloud database for both train and bus. Ticket can be bought with the help of smart phone, laptop using the web-application where your railway tickets can be carried in your phone. The ticketing information of the user is securely stored in the cloud database. Additionally, the ticket checker is given the checker application which is utilized for the approval of the ticket appeared by the user. This framework gives the ticket checker web-application to look for the user's ticket with the ticket number or other appropriate information in the cloud database for checking purposes. Consider that the user's display is being damaged and not able to show the ticket due to other reasons like battery failure we have another safeguard alternative to check the ticket by searching in the ticket database with the ticket number or user's other relevant information for validation purpose.

I I A R D-I n t e r n a t i o n a l I n s t i t u t e o f A c a d e m i c R e s e a r c h a n d D e v e l o p m e n t ABSTRACT Online Bus Ticket Reservation System is a Web based application that works within a centralized network. This project presents a review on the software program "Online Bus Ticket Reservation System" as should be used in a bus transportation system, a facility which is used to reserve seats, cancellation of reservation and different types of route enquiries used on securing quick reservations. OBTRS is built for managing and computerizing the traditional database, ticket booking and tracking bus and travel made. It maintains all customer details, bus details, reservation details. In order to achieve the design, Imo Transport Company (ITC) was chosen as a case study because of its strategic importance to Imo State. Structured Systems Analysis and Design Methodology (SSADM) was adopted. In addition, PHP Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP) language was used for the front-end of the software while the back end was designed using MySQL. The software achieved is capable of improving the customer hand and relationship management in ITC operations. It is recommended that despite the present functionality of the designed software, an additional functionality such as the use of E-mail to send tickets and notifications to the customer and an online payment using credit cards/debit cards should be implemented into the system. Furthermore, other operations carried by ITC such as the courier services should also be integrated in order to enhance the system.

Modern society brought high demands on the quality of information systems, which require the use of modern methodologies and software to automate the process and reduce development time of the project and raise its quality. One of the most promising approaches in this direction is the Model Driven Development (MDD), that is an innovative approach for development of different software applications using models at different levels of abstraction and applying model transformation to code generation. The main objective of this paper is to present an approach for model-driven development of online air ticket reservation system based on UML.UML use case diagrams and class diagram are used to model the main requirements and data model of the system respectively in order to achieve reusable and portable models of the system. The developed UML conceptual data model is implemented in a MySQL based database. Finally, some conclusions are made.

Latest commit, file metadata and controls, design a movie ticket booking system, let's design movie ticket booking system.

We'll cover the following:

System Requirements

Use case diagram, class diagram, activity diagrams, concurrency.

An online movie ticket booking system facilitates the purchasing of movie tickets to its customers. E-ticketing systems allow customers to browse through movies currently playing and book seats, anywhere and anytime.

Movie Ticket Booking System

Our ticket booking service should meet the following requirements:

  • It should be able to list the cities where affiliate cinemas are located.
  • Each cinema can have multiple halls and each hall can run one movie show at a time.
  • Each Movie will have multiple shows.
  • Customers should be able to search movies by their title, language, genre, release date, and city name.
  • Once the customer selects a movie, the service should display the cinemas running that movie and its available shows.
  • The customer should be able to select a show at a particular cinema and book their tickets.
  • The service should show the customer the seating arrangement of the cinema hall. The customer should be able to select multiple seats according to their preference.
  • The customer should be able to distinguish between available seats and booked ones.
  • The system should send notifications whenever there is a new movie, as well as when a booking is made or canceled.
  • Customers of our system should be able to pay with credit cards or cash.
  • The system should ensure that no two customers can reserve the same seat.
  • Customers should be able to add a discount coupon to their payment.

We have five main Actors in our system:

  • Admin: Responsible for adding new movies and their shows, canceling any movie or show, blocking/unblocking customers, etc.
  • FrontDeskOfficer: Can book/cancel tickets.
  • Customer: Can view movie schedules, book, and cancel tickets.
  • Guest: All guests can search movies but to book seats they have to become a registered member.
  • System: Mainly responsible for sending notifications for new movies, bookings, cancellations, etc.

Here are the top use cases of the Movie Ticket Booking System:

  • Search movies: To search movies by title, genre, language, release date, and city name.
  • Create/Modify/View booking: To book a movie show ticket, cancel it or view details about the show.
  • Make payment for booking: To pay for the booking.
  • Add a coupon to the payment: To add a discount coupon to the payment.
  • Assign Seat: Customers will be shown a seat map to let them select seats for their booking.
  • Refund payment: Upon cancellation, customers will be refunded the payment amount as long as the cancellation occurs within the allowed time frame.

Here is the use case diagram of Movie Ticket Booking System:

Here are the main classes of the Movie Ticket Booking System:

  • Account: Admin will be able to add/remove movies and shows, as well as block/unblock accounts. Customers can search for movies and make bookings for shows. FrontDeskOffice can book tickets for movie shows.
  • Guest: Guests can search and view movies descriptions. To make a booking for a show they have to become a registered member.
  • Cinema: The main part of the organization for which this software has been designed. It has attributes like ‘name’ to distinguish it from other cinemas.
  • CinemaHall: Each cinema will have multiple halls containing multiple seats.
  • City: Each city can have multiple cinemas.
  • Movie: The main entity of the system. Movies have attributes like title, description, language, genre, release date, city name, etc.
  • Show: Each movie can have many shows; each show will be played in a cinema hall.
  • CinemaHallSeat: Each cinema hall will have many seats.
  • ShowSeat: Each ShowSeat will correspond to a movie Show and a CinemaHallSeat. Customers will make a booking against a ShowSeat.
  • Booking: A booking is against a movie show and has attributes like a unique booking number, number of seats, and status.
  • Payment: Responsible for collecting payments from customers.
  • Notification: Will take care of sending notifications to customers.

Movie Ticket Booking System Class Diagram

Make a booking: Any customer can perform this activity. Here are the steps to book a ticket for a show:

Cancel a booking: Customer can cancel their bookings. Here are the steps to cancel a booking:

Here are the high-level definitions for the classes described above.

Enums, data types, and constants: Here are the required enums, data types, and constants:

Account, Customer, Admin, FrontDeskOfficer, and Guest: These classes represent the different people that interact with our system:

Show and Movie: A movie will have many shows:

Booking, ShowSeat, and Payment: Customers will reserve seats with a booking and make a payment:

City, Cinema, CinemaHall and CinemaHallSeat: Each city can have many cinemas and each cinema can have many cinema halls:

Search interface and Catalog: Catalog will implement Search to facilitate searching of products.

How to handle concurrency; such that no two users are able to book the same seat?

We can use transactions in SQL databases to avoid any clashes. For example, if we are using SQL server we can utilize Transaction Isolation Levels to lock the rows before we update them. Note: within a transaction, if we read rows we get a write-lock on them so that they can’t be updated by anyone else. Here is the sample code:

‘Serializable’ is the highest isolation level and guarantees safety from Dirty , Nonrepeatable , and Phantoms reads.

Once the above database transaction is successful, we can safely assume that the reservation has been marked successfully and no two customers will be able to reserve the same seat.

Read JDBC Transaction Isolation Levels for details.

Implementation:

The Movie Ticket Booking System includes the following components:

  • MovieTicketBookingSystem Class: This class initializes the system with the specified number of rows and seats per row, manages the seating arrangement, and calculates income.
  • Display Seating: The system displays the current seating arrangement, indicating available seats with ‘S’ and booked seats with ‘E’.
  • Buy Ticket: Users can select a seat by specifying the row and seat number. The system checks seat availability, calculates the ticket price, and allows users to book or cancel a seat.
  • Statistics: Users can access booking statistics, including the number of purchased tickets, the percentage of booked seats, and the current and total income.
  • Main Function: The main function takes user inputs to perform actions like displaying seats, buying tickets, accessing statistics, or exiting the system.

Case Study Steps:

  • Launch the Movie Ticket Booking System.
  • Input the number of rows and seats per row, configuring the theater.
  • Select options from the menu to view available seats, purchase tickets, or check booking statistics.
  • To view available seats, select option ‘1’. The system displays the current seating arrangement.
  • To buy a ticket, select option ‘2’. Specify the row and seat number, and the system will calculate the ticket price. Confirm the purchase or cancel.
  • To view booking statistics, select option ‘3’. The system displays the number of purchased tickets, the percentage of booked seats, and the current and total income.
  • To exit the system, select option ‘0’.

Conclusion:

The Movie Ticket Booking System presented in this case study demonstrates the fundamental concepts of creating a movie ticket booking application using Python. Although this is a basic text-based implementation, it highlights the essential components of a real-world movie ticket booking system, such as seat availability, pricing, and booking statistics. Further development could include a graphical user interface (GUI) and database integration for a more user-friendly and robust system.

Requirements of a movie ticket booking system

How do we implement the seat booking process, how to handle those cases where more than one person tries to access the same seat simultaneously.

  • User Registration and Authentication: Users should be able to register with the system.
  • Movie Listings: Display a list of movies currently playing in theaters.
  • Seat Selection and Reservation: Interactive seat map allowing users to select seats. Real-time updates on seat availability.
  • Booking Process: Seamless booking flow with step-by-step guidance.
  • Payment Processing: Integration with multiple payment gateway. Secure handling of payment information.
  • Cancellation and Refund: Allow users to cancel bookings within a certain time frame.
  • Performance: Fast response times for browsing movies and booking tickets. Scalability to handle a large number of users concurrently, especially during peak hours.
  • Reliability: High availability of the system

Let us see how we can implement the seat booking process. The Main Classes to be used for the users are:

This is the pseudo implementation of the above logic. The above code has classes and attributes only. As you can see enums are self-explanatory.

Below is the explanation of the classes used in the above code:

  • We have a Movie class which keeps all the details of the movies.
  • We have users class in which users details are kept.
  • Theater class in which name of the theater, it’s address and list of movies currently running are kept.
  • Booking class lets you book the seat in a particular theater. It keeps a reference in Movie, Payment class.
  • We have Address class which the details of the user(city, pin code, State) are kept.

Lets take SeatBook and Transactions class which will be called from the main class. Here from the above code, We expand a bit the payment process which is not shown in the above code. In SeatBook class we will have reference to Transaction class also.

Now to ensure when two persons are trying to access the same seat almost at the same time then we would use Synchronized method of Thread class and will call a thread belong to each log in user. Let us see how it works:
