Essays About Your Mom: Top 5 Examples and 5 Prompts

Some of the most important memories in our lives involve our mothers. If you need to write essays about your mom, our guide will help.

A mother is a female parent of a child. Mothers nurture their children throughout childhood and, for many, throughout adulthood as well. The desire to support and protect our children is never ending for many mothers.

Motherhood, however, is not always a genetic role. Many people foster or adopt children or find themselves acting in a parental role for someone else’s children. What matters is the effort you put into a motherly role; for most, the instincts are all there.

It can safely be said that a mom is one of the most significant role models one can have in life and one whose influence continues to inspire. I once read a statement that said, ‘one day, you will realize your Mom is the best friend you will ever have.’ That is certainly true for me, and I hope for many of you.

If you are writing essays about your mom, our essay examples should prove inspiring.

5 Writing Prompts On Essays About Your Mom

1. the best memory of your mom, 2. a lesson your mom taught you, 3. what is your mom’s best quality, 4. your mom as a role model, 5. who is your mom.

“My mother believes in me, in everything I do, and is always positive about it. Every decision, task, and every level that I concur, my mom is always there, believing in me that I will succeed. Graduating 5th grade and moving up to 6th grade was a big step, just like graduating 8th grade and moving up to 9th grade was. But my mother believed that I would still do well in school and would enjoy it a lot.”

Mckenzie writes about his mother as his greatest influence and inspiration. He reflects on how his mom always makes sure he is well and how she loves the family unconditionally. He also describes her selflessness, as she volunteers for those in need and raises money for charity. Her mother’s love, selflessness, and encouragement inspire Mckenzie to try his best in everything he does, and he is genuinely grateful for her.

“All I can say is thank you for being an amazing mother and all I want for you is to keep doing what makes you happy and brightens your day. Keep creating and going to the beach just to look at the ocean. Keep running, even if it’s not in marathons and don’t forget how awesome of a mother you are. Keep collecting seashells and spreading your positive energy everywhere you go. I love you, Mom.”

Wolf’s essay is addressed to her own mother and is composed of different notes and letters. According to Wolf, her mother is hardworking, optimistic, and devoted, and she recalls several moments they shared. The moments she describes are heartfelt and profound experiences that many can relate to.

“To this day, she wakes up every morning, marches into our living room, and talks with cancer patients on the phone, lending them her empathy and expertise. It’s amazing, and I wanted her to know I saw all that. I wanted her to know I knew she’s always been a badass. I wanted her to know she’s an inspiration to me, a dynamic, courageous, capable, remarkable person I admire and study every day.”

Moore discusses his mother’s life beyond her role in his life. He briefly tells her life story, then writes about her work for a colon cancer foundation. She spends most of her time consoling and caring for cancer patients; only now is Moore able to appreciate what she is doing. He is in awe at all that his mom has been able to accomplish besides being a great mother to him.

“She utilizes her wisdom by teaching me the ways of life. She rejoices as I apply her teachings in my life and she understands me. The abundance of knowledge my mother has supplied me with continuously fills my life with rare and beautiful treasures.”

In her essay, Gonzales reflects on the spiritual lessons her mom has instilled in her. Her mother is a role model of a strong, Christian woman devoted to her family and God. She is always there for her daughter, giving her advice on how to handle difficult situations. Gonzales aspires to be just like her mother in everything she does, especially when raising her own children.

 5. Your Mom Doesn’t Hate You, She’s Just Trying to Help You by Carly Newberg

“I’m not a parent (yet). However, I hope that when I am, I can take what I’ve learned from the obstacles I’ve faced with my mom, to keep the generational progress moving forward. After all, that is one of the beautiful gifts we’re given on Earth; To learn from the mistakes of our loved ones, map out our route accordingly, do our best to get where we are going, and accept the detours along the way knowing those after us will use them to love harder and live wiser.”

In this essay, Newberg discusses a phenomenon we are all too familiar with: mothers arguing with us. She explains that despite their seemingly curtailing actions, mothers always want what is best for us and are even struggling with whether their decisions are correct. Newberg suggests that we should be understanding of our mothers and use these experiences as lessons for how to parent in the future.

Essays About Your Mom: The best memory of your mom

For your essay, reflect on an experience with your mom that you treasure. Perhaps it is a birthday celebration, a trip out of town, or simply a conversation you had. Describe the events that transpired, how they made you feel, and why you treasure them as you do. Also, consider if your perception of this event has changed. Perhaps it has taught you more than you first thought.

One of a mother’s primary roles is to teach her children essential skills and lessons to prepare them for the future. Think about one or more things your mom taught you, whether life skills, values, or otherwise. You can be as general or in-depth as you want regarding what you’ve learned from your mom, but be sure to explain it adequately.

For an interesting essay topic, write about a quality of your mom’s that you seek to emulate- her patience, kindness, or fortitude. Discuss why you have chosen it, how it is essential to who your mom is, and how you hope to use it in the future.

Essays About Your Mom: Your mom as a role model

Mothers are role models to everyone, not only their kids but also to others they interact with daily. In your essay, you can reflect on a time your mom did something truly admirable that cemented her position as your role model. As with the other essays, describe the events, what you learned, and why you chose this. You may also comment on how it has shaped you as a prospective or active parent. Discuss any aspects of parenthood you would like to emulate and those you would not!

This essay topic may seem simple, but one can learn much about a person from a simple biography and reflection. Give readers a general idea of what your mom does, her role in your life, and how she has made you who you are today; paint a picture of this fantastic woman and why she is so important. You can include something about her background and note how it has influenced her, making her the mom she is. Also, you may consider whether any of her inherited traits have been passed to you.

An Introduction to the Essay

The word Mother is a very pious word and whosoever is called by the name ‘Mother’ is a person who sacrifices and prioritizes her children over anything. Her whole Life revolves around the well-being of her child, their growth, their development, and their welfare. A Mother not just only gives birth to a child but she takes a Lifelong commitment to take care of her child.

The only unconditional love in the world is the mother's love. My mother is my inspiration, my superhero, my best friend, and my guiding light. My life would not have been beautiful without my mother. Through ups and downs and in every step of life, she holds my hand and supports and encourages me. No matter what happens, my mother is always there beside me- cheering me up and motivating me. All mothers in the world are great and so, we should not celebrate their contribution in our life on Mother's Day only, which is 10th May, but every day of the year and throughout their life. It is because no gesture of appreciation is ever enough when it comes to acknowledging our mother. Her selfless love and sacrifice are the precious of all gifts under the sun.

An Essay on Mothers

My Mother- The Multi-Tasker

Mothers play an important role in everyone’s Life since she acts as a Protector, a Friend, and Guide for Life. A Mother does everything selflessly for her child and without any condition. There the love of a Mother is known to be Unconditional.

The way she manages my family with utter dedication and devotion is inspiring. The relationship with my mother is something very hard to explain. I do not merely love her because she is my mother and we should respect our elders. I love her because she is my world and when I was not able to speak and communicate she took care of me, time and time again. The best part about my mother is that even though I have grown older she knows and understands my needs without me speaking a word. I learned kindness and love from her. She taught me no matter how bad a situation might get, only love can improve it in the most effective way. She has been the rock-solid pillar of my life and in every big moment of my life.

My Mother has constantly supported me throughout my entire Life, whenever I am in a danger or in a situation where I am stuck, she has always been there for me, protected me, and guided me. She has been my favorite teacher who has taught me about Life and the beauty of it. She is the essence of truthfulness, sincerity, and lots of love. The only person who holds our family together is my Mother. She cares for everyone in the house and for the ones in need outside the house as well. One of the most beautiful things that I learned from my mother is empathy. Be it strangers or animals, she treats everyone equally which makes her more amazing. Moreover, she taught me to not hurt anyone on purpose and help people whenever possible. Not only this but also she taught me to not differentiate among rich or poor, beautiful or ugly. She says that it is the heart of a person that makes them beautiful and rich and not temporary possessions.

My Mother is my constant source of encouragement, be it in Life or in school for studies. She has always inspired me to do other activities along with my studies. She has taught me to enjoy every aspect of Life and live Life to the fullest. She wants me to do those things in Life as well which she could not do or pursue. She is my backbone for everything. My mother has inspired me through her hard work and sacrifices. She taught me once never to get disheartened by failure and to keep challenging the failure with our honest effort. And one day, failure will pave the path to our success. The strength of facing hurdles and overcoming it is what I have learned from her.

Mothers have never-ending qualities even though they do not get much credit for their goodness and hard work. She binds everyone in the family and plays a very important part in everyone’s Life. Even when I do something wrong in Life, she scolds me but at the same time, she makes me understand and helps me to get out of the situation. She forgives me after every mistake but ensures that I’ve realized my mistake first. She is the most selfless human being I have ever encountered in my life till now.

My mother knows me in and out. Even if I am lying she catches me immediately and I start feeling guilty. We should never lie to our parents and especially, to our mother. They simply do not deserve it. Mothers spend a significant part of their lives making us capable of standing on our own feet. Sometimes, they have to sacrifice their own career and happiness for that. So a mother's trust should never be destroyed. And when it comes to my mother, I would not change a bit about her. She is the best chef, reading partner, and an independent working woman who can balance almost everything with utmost perfection. Even her imperfection makes me proud of her. Without my mother, I would never become a better human being. My Mother is my biggest strength and makes me, even more, stronger when I go through all my ups and downs in life. The best thing she possesses is her patience. The patience she has is difficult for anyone to have. She deals with every situation in the family, in my life, or even in her Life with so much patience because of the reason the family is bonded so strongly. It is the responsibility of every child to appreciate their Mothers and give them the love and respect that Mothers deserve.

My Mother Essay

Mother is the foundation of a family. Mother is the one who brought us to see this beautiful world. It's a single word with thousands of emotions. Mother is called by different names in different languages like Maa in Hindi and Bengali, Amma in Tamil and Malayalam, Bha in Gujarati, Aaiy in Marathi, Talli in Telugu, Thayi in Kannada. Here are a few sample essays on "my mother".

100 Words Essay on My Mother

200 words essay on my mother, 500 words essay on my mother, my role model.

  • The Greatness of Mother's Love

My Mother Essay

My mother is a very important person and an inspiration in my life. She is the world to me. She is my first teacher. Every good habit I have is just because of her teachings. My mother is my constant motivator. Whenever I fail to perform, she is alone to stand and encourage me.

Whenever I am lost, my mother is the only one to bring me to the right path. There are situations where she is not physically present to guide, but her teachings always act as a guiding light. It is well said that "Life doesn't come with a manual; it comes with a mother." I wonder how appropriate this line is! When a child is born, it's the mother who understands the most about what to teach to her child and what not.

"God couldn't be everywhere, so he created mothers." A mother is a person whom the child knows from the womb itself. Nobody on this Earth knows a child better than their mother. Everybody on this Earth can harm a child except the mother. She knows what, when, why, how, and everything about her child. A mother can play all the roles of a child, from being a feeder to being a superhero. Nothing is challenging for her. Home is never a home where there is no mother.

Mother: Creation of God

She is the most beautiful creation of God. It is said that if a child doesn't have a father, the mother can do anything for the survival of her children, but if a child doesn't have a mother, life never remains easy for the child. Only a mother gives selfless love to her child; she can sleep hungry but never let her child sleep hungry.

My mother is my superhero. I always get surprised to see her being the first one to wake in the morning and the last one to sleep in the night, still with the same smile and zero complaints. How can a person remain so cheerful throughout? She is the one to teach that, however hard it may be, the day there will always be a beautiful morning waiting for you when you open your eyes.

Mother is the one who plays and handles all her relationships well, from being a daughter herself, being a sister, being a wife, being a daughter-in-law, being a sister-in-law to being a mother and then grandmother. We keep growing up throughout but for a mother, a child is always a child, regardless of age you become. She is the most powerful creature in this Universe. She can be a gentle wind, and at the same time, she can be a cyclone to a hurricane if someone tries to harm her child.

My mother is my inspiration and my role model. I believe nobody in this world can understand me more than her. She can read through and figure out what's going on in my mind. How can someone be so exact in reading someone's mind? She gets up at 5 a.m in the morning and prepares breakfast and lunch, never forgetting about anybody's choices. She then packs it for everybody on it. When we return, we see her working and arranging things with the same enthusiasm and smile she had in the morning. I again wonder how someone can be without complaining about something. I see her always having a solution handy to almost all the problems that we share with her.

"Mother's love is the fuel that boosts your willingness."

The Greatness of Mother's Love

There is a famous story about Albert Einstein's mother. It was said that Albert was not able to read when he was in elementary school. So one fine day, a teacher sends a note to his mother that they would not be able to teach her child as her child was too dumb to teach anything. Tears began rolling in her eyes when she read it to her son. She read that since her child was so smart, the teachers would no longer be able to teach him. Then she bought books for him and started teaching him all by herself, and today everything is history. Only a mother can give wings to her child's dreams.

We have often seen children sending their aged mothers to old age homes but have never seen a mother sending her child to an orphanage. It is very painful to see such people sending their source of existence to suffer till they live. We have seen mothers leaving their well-paid jobs to see their children grow, to teach good things to their children. Nobody on this Earth can ever repay a mother's sacrifice, however rich they may become.

My Mother: My Hero

My mother is my bundle of joy, the first person I search for when I enter the house is my mother. She will smile and then scold me for shouting and disturbing the entire house. Patience level of my mother is a blessing from the divine; she is always very calm and composed. My mother is often very strict, which is obviously for my good. She would not let me use my mobile phone and laptop for too long as it would affect me. She teaches me to be kind to others. I want to become a superhuman like my mother. "Mother is the most beautiful flower on this Earth; each is unique and holds a different fragrance."

How to Write a 5 Paragraph Essay About My Mother

Writing about someone close to you, such as your mother, can be a meaningful and rewarding experience. One of the best ways to structure your writing is to use the 5-paragraph essay format.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps of writing a 5-paragraph essay about your mother, with detailed examples and lists to help you along the way.

Introduction

The introduction is your chance to hook your reader and provide a preview of what’s to come in your essay. Here are some tips for crafting a strong opening paragraph about mother :

  • Start with a strong opening sentence that grabs your reader’s attention. For example, you could begin with a quote about mothers or an anecdote that illustrates your relationship with your mom.
  • Provide some background information about your mother, such as her name, age, occupation, and any other relevant details to your essay.
  • Explain why you’ve chosen to write about your mother and what makes her so unique to you. This will help your reader understand the significance of your essay.
  • Finally, give a brief overview of the structure of your essay. Tell your reader what they can expect to learn from your writing and how you’ll be organizing your thoughts.

The First Paragraph

The first body paragraph of your essay should introduce your topic (your mother) and provide a thesis statement that ties your focus/theme to your mother’s significance in your life. Here are some things to keep in mind:

  • Start with a sentence introducing your mother and explaining why she is important to you. For example, you could say, “My mother is the most important person in my life because she has always been there for me, no matter what.”
  • Provide some background information about your mother, such as her age, occupation, and any other relevant details.
  • Explain the focus/theme of your essay. This could be anything from your mother’s resilience in adversity to her impact on your personal growth and development.
  • Finally, provide a clear and concise thesis statement that ties your focus/theme to your mother’s significance in your life. For example, your thesis statement could be, “My mother’s unwavering support has been the driving force behind my success.”

The Second Paragraph

The second paragraph of your essay should provide examples and anecdotes that support the focus/theme you introduced in the first paragraph. Here’s how to do it:

  • Start by introducing the specific example or anecdote you’ll be sharing. For instance, you could say, “One of the best examples of my mother’s support came when I was struggling in school.”
  • Share the details of the example or anecdote. This could include specific conversations with your mother, her actions to support you, or challenges you overcame together.
  • Analyze the impact of your mother’s actions on your life. How did her support make a difference for you? What did you learn from the experience? How did it strengthen your relationship with your mother?
  • Tie your analysis back to your thesis statement. Make it clear how this example or anecdote supports your focus/theme and your overall argument.

The Third Paragraph

The third paragraph of your essay should continue to explore the impact of your mother’s actions on your life. Here are some tips for writing this section:

  • Start by introducing a new example or anecdote that supports your focus/theme. For instance, you could talk about how your mother helped you through a difficult time.
  • Provide details about the example or anecdote, just as you did in the previous paragraph.
  • Analyze the impact of your mother’s actions on your life. What did you learn from this experience? How did it shape who you are today?
  • Again, tie your analysis back to your thesis statement. Make it clear how this example or anecdote supports your overall argument.

The Fourth Paragraph

The fourth paragraph of your essay should provide a counterargument or opposing viewpoint. Here’s how to do it:

  • Start by acknowledging that there may be other perspectives on your mother’s impact on your life. For example, you could say something like “While my mother has had an overwhelmingly positive impact on my life, I know that not everyone has had the same experience.”
  • Introduce a counterargument or opposing viewpoint. This could be something like “Some people might argue that a mother’s impact on her child is overstated and that other factors, such as genetics or upbringing, are more important.”
  • Analyze the counterargument or opposing viewpoint. Explain why you disagree with this perspective and provide evidence to support your argument. This could include personal anecdotes, statistics, or expert opinions.
  • Finally, tie your analysis back to your thesis statement. Make it clear how your counterargument supports your overall argument and reinforces the importance of your mother’s impact on your life.

The Fifth Paragraph

Your essay’s fifth and final paragraph should summarize your main points and provide a conclusion. Here’s how to do it:

  • Start by summarizing the key points you’ve made in your essay. Remind your reader of your focus/theme, thesis statement, and the examples and anecdotes you’ve shared.
  • Provide a final analysis of your mother’s impact on your life. Explain why she is so important to you and what you’ve learned from your experiences with her.
  • End with a firm conclusion. This could be a call to action, a personal reflection, or a final thought that ties everything together. For example, you could end with something like, “My mother will always be my role model and inspiration. I hope I can be as supportive and loving as she has always been to me someday.”

Example essay about my mother

Example 2: A Portrait of Strength and Love: My Mother

In the tapestry of my life, there is one thread that shines brighter than all others – the unwavering presence of my mother. She is not just a figure in my life; she is the cornerstone, the guiding light, and the epitome of love and strength. In this essay, I aim to paint a vivid portrait of the woman who has shaped me into who I am today. Body: My mother’s love knows no bounds. It is a force of nature, gentle yet unyielding, like the steady flow of a river that nourishes all in its path. From the moment I came into this world, she cradled me in her arms, her touch a soothing balm that could heal any wound, physical or emotional. Her love is not confined to mere words; it is expressed through her actions, through the countless sacrifices she has made for our family. One of the most remarkable traits of my mother is her boundless strength. She has weathered storms that would have broken lesser souls, yet she emerged from the tempest stronger than ever. I have seen her face adversity with grace and courage, never once faltering in her resolve. She is the backbone of our family, the one we turn to in times of need, knowing that her strength will carry us through even the darkest of days. But my mother is not just a beacon of strength; she is also a source of wisdom and guidance. Her words are infused with a depth of knowledge that can only come from a life well-lived. Whenever I am faced with a difficult decision or grappling with uncertainty, I know that I can turn to her for counsel, and she will always steer me in the right direction. Despite the many roles she juggles – mother, wife, daughter, friend – my mother always finds time to nurture her passions and pursue her dreams. Whether it’s tending to her garden, losing herself in a good book, or simply enjoying a quiet moment of reflection, she reminds me of the importance of self-care and staying true to oneself. Conclusion: In the tapestry of my life, my mother is the brightest thread, the one that adds color and meaning to the fabric of my existence. She is my rock, my confidante, and my greatest source of inspiration. As I navigate the journey of life, I am grateful to have her by my side, guiding me with her love, wisdom, and unwavering strength. My mother is not just a woman; she is a force of nature, and I am blessed to call her mine.

My mother, for instance, prioritizes my well-being over her own comforts, working tirelessly to provide me with good food, clothing, and education.

(My Mother Essay for Class 10)

Famous poet George Eliot quotes

Life began with waking up

And loving my mother’s face

YES, we all start our day with our mother’s smiling face. My day started when my mother gets me up early in the morning. For me, my mom is the best example of love and kindness in this universe. She knows how to take care of us.

From the very tender age, I became a fan of her as I like my mom’s hardworking and dedicated nature. My mom sacrificed a lot in order to shape my life. She has brought me up with utmost love and care.

She could understand me even when I couldn’t utter a word. Mother is another name of true love. A mother loves his child selflessly and doesn’t expect or demand anything in return. My mother whom I call mom turns our house into a home.

My mother is the busiest person at our home. She gets up much before the sun rises and start to perform her duty. She cooks food for us, takes care of us, goes shopping and even plans our future too.

In our family, my mother plans how to spend and how to save for the future. My mom was my first teacher. She also plays a vital role in shaping my moral character. She doesn’t even forget to take care of our health.

Whenever any one of our family members falls sick, my mother spends a sleepless night and sits beside him/her and take care of him/her for the whole night. My mom never tires of her responsibility. My father also depends on her whenever he finds any difficulty in taking any serious decision.

The word mother is full of emotion and love. The value of this sweet word is truly felt by those children who don’t have anyone to call ‘mother’. So the one who has his/her mother beside them should feel proud.

But in today’s world, some wicked children consider their mother a burden when she gets old. The person who spends all her life for their children become a burden for their child at the last moment of her life.

Some selfish child even doesn’t bother to send his/her mom to old age home. This is really a shame and unfortunate incident as well. The government should keep an eye to those incidents and should take those shameless children in judicial custody.

I want to stand with my mother like a shadow all the time. I know today I am here only because of her. So I want to serve my mother for the rest of my life. I also want to build my carrier so that my mom feels proud of me.

Essay on My Mother 500 words

My mother has had the greatest influence on me throughout my life. Through her, I have learned a lot of things about how to traverse the various facets of life. By seeing the kind of person she was while I grew up, I have modeled the kind of woman I want to become as well. My mother is my guide, idol, and source of inspiration in life, and I can say it with great pride.

My mother is the one person whom I can completely trust. She is the main reason for my progress and development since she works relentlessly. She never makes any distinctions within the family and provides our entire family with equal and undivided devotion and love.

Her devotion to her family is unwavering and complete. She puts her own needs and desires aside for the sake of her family. My mother has been my greatest source of inspiration and has played an important role in my spiritual, emotional, and intellectual development.

Mothers are an Inspiration

A mother contains several characteristics that make her the embodiment of love and dedication. She is forgiving and understands us when we make mistakes. She takes severe measures to fix our mistakes and ensures that we are aware of our responsibilities. From sunrise to night, day in and day out, a mother works tirelessly to fulfill all of our dreams.

A mother is someone who consoles you in your time of need, makes sacrifices, and makes every attempt to provide a comfortable life for her child. A mother is a selfless individual who, like the sun, chases away all darkness and shines the light of happiness and love onto her family.

Motivation is a state of mind that enables us to successfully complete any project or task. It is a form of a natural environment that aids our physical and social growth. We know that we can attain any goal, even in the most difficult circumstances, because of inspiration coming from a person or an event.

For the growth of our abilities, we seek encouragement from other sources, such as a popular figure or a special person near us who encourages us whether we can achieve the objective even in difficult situations.

As a result, we are capable of completing this task. Numerous people are inspired by legendary or historical figures, and then many people are inspired by famous people or their parents. It makes no difference who your source of inspiration is or how much you are inspired by its ideas and practices in order to achieve your goal.

Mothers are a constant source of inspiration and motivation for children to become good individuals as they grow older. They instill in them a sense of responsibility, care and affection for others, and a sense of resilience that can hardly be found anywhere else.

Every person must have some sense of creativity in his life from which he can draw inspiration in order to attain his life objectives and progress. A teacher might be an inspiration in someone’s life, a successful person can be an inspiration in someone else’s, but in my life, my mother is my biggest motivation. She is the individual who has motivated me to attain my life’s objectives and to keep moving forward.

My mother is also an admiration to me because, while most individuals work to gain popularity and a name in society, a mother never feels that. All she wants for her children is for them to achieve in life. She is not motivated by self-interest in her work. This is why I regard my mother to be a human manifestation of God.

My Mother is My Best Friend

My mother is my teacher, advisor, and greatest friend, and she plays many vital roles in my life. It works to instill confidence in me when I’m having an issue. Whatever I am today is solely due to my mother’s presence in my life, as she was present for both my successes and failures. I couldn’t picture my life without her, which is why I consider her my closest buddy.

Despite the many roles a woman plays in her life, the bond she shares with her mother is one of the purest relationships in the world. The bond between a mother and her child is indescribable. The mother is also the one who gives birth to her child and raises her. However, a mother’s love for her children never fades, and she is more concerned about their well-being than her own.

To safeguard her child, a mother is willing to face the worst disasters. A mother may shoulder all of the burdens alone, but she will not allow her offspring to be exposed to any form of heat. For these reasons, the mother is regarded as a manifestation of God on Earth, leading to the common proverb, “God cannot exist everywhere, therefore he made mothers.”

A Mother’s Strength

Although my mother may not physically be the strongest person, she nevertheless meets every challenge in her life and that of her family. She is a continual source of inspiration who reminds me to never give up in the face of adversity.

Above all, my mother is a major source of motivation for me, since she encourages me to enhance my abilities, academics, and talents. She inspires me to try again, to never give up, and work hard until I succeed. The way she traverses through the innumerable obstacles she faces in life is a constant reminder of the strength of a woman and how we can face any adversity that comes our way.

During difficult times, my mom is a lifesaver. Despite the fact that she chastises and corrects me, she is the only person capable of solving the problem, whether it is school or life-related. She is my instructor and guide, who shows me the way and steers me through the toughest moments.

Above all, even at the darkest of moments, she never leaves my side. She is an excellent teacher, a rigorous parent, a loyal friend, and a delightful companionship. Not only my mother, but every mother is an expression of God who devotes her entire life to her family and is deserving of much respect and admiration.

A mother possesses both inherent and learned attributes that identify her job as a mother. The key trait of a mother is responsibilities, which comes with motherhood. Regardless of age or repercussions, my mother displays unselfish love and affection.

She is my greatest source of strength and support, and she never fails to inspire and drive us through all of life’s ups and downs. Mothers can understand and empathize with their children. My mother’s most striking characteristic is her tremendous level of acceptance and tolerance. Despite the fact that she is dealing with several issues, she remains calm and patient.

My Mother Essay for Kids

Mother is the most influential person in the life of every individual. She is a very hard-working person who holds the most honourable position next to the Almighty. She plays a crucial role in the holistic development of her child and always caters to the basic needs of her family.

The beauty of a mother-child relationship is that her love and sacrifice knows no bounds. She is like a guiding star, teacher and best friend who always stands rock solid beside her child and family in all circumstances.

My mother manages each and everything in the house and always puts her best foot forward to take care of me and other members of my family. Despite being a working woman, she cooks the most delicious dishes for the whole family regularly. She stays awake whenever I’m not keeping well and gives me company during my exams.

In my opinion, she is the most beautiful person in the entire world and looks after the welfare of my whole family. She imparts moral values and ethics to me and shows me the righteous path of life. essay on my mother

T he word mother is the first word in our lives that we take first in every sorrow and pain. Even the person forgets the name of God in sorrow and pain, but never forgets to take the mother’s name.

Mother is that part of our life without which it becomes very difficult to live life, son’s love can be less for mother but mother’s love for her children never diminishes even if a mother sleeps at night but her children Never get hungry.

It is very important to have a mother in life, just as it is very important for a fish to have water, similarly for a mother, her mother is very dear to her child and children. If the mother had not been there, it would have been very difficult to imagine this world. The only mother teaches to walk in the journey of life.

Mother is the person who gives good rites to her children from the beginning and the mother is always concerned about her children’s future without selfishness. In truth, if there was no mother, no one would be born in this world.

Mother loves her children very much, even if she wears old clothes herself but buys new clothes for her children, sleeps in a wet place and makes children dry in the mother, it is a very proud thing to say about mother They are very fortunate to have a mother.

The mother loves her children very much, even if she wears old clothes herself but buys new clothes for her children, sleeps in a wet place, and makes children dry in the mother’s house. It is a very proud thing to tell about a mother they are very fortunate to have a mother.

The mother always wants to be with her children, when the child comes from school, the mother gives him food and asks him what happened in school today and did not eat the food completely, and if you do not know then let me tell you A mother can do anything for her children, for example, the lamb (goat’s child), her mother dares to fight the lion as well, and protects her child.

If the Mother is angry with the child, then she cannot remain without speaking for long. The Mother keeps anhydrous fast for the happiness of her children and stays without drinking water without eating. It is not known whether God is the mother or whether God comes as a mother in this world to protect us.

Mother, I do not know what I am today and what I will become but I will always pray to God for you for my long life.

You have given birth to me, risking my own life and brought us into this world, I will never be able to repay your debt, I will never let your eyes tear, mother, if any pain hurts, tell me, mother, I will also fight with anyone.

There is no one without you, my companion. If you are, then all the strength of the world is in my hands. I can never be poor as long as you are with me.

“Mom” I am afraid of the darkness, but when you are with me, I always sleep without fear. Mom, I love you very much and keep every joy of the world at your feet for you.

Thank you mother, I swear to bring me into this world… That no tears will come in your eyes.

They are very wealthy who have a mother. This world looks like a desolate one without a mother. I sometimes think that if you had not been my mother, what would have happened to me in this bloodthirsty world, I would love a con-man, ask me to eat cones again and again…

When someone beat me, who would go to fight for me and caress me by keeping me in his lap….i love you so much maa…

On Mother's Day, spare a thought for that eternal punchline: the mother-in-law

The mother-in-law is — or was — one of the most reliable punchlines in show business. She was bossy. Domineering. Overprotective of her daughter, and endlessly critical of her choice of husband. Worst of all, she was none of those things from a distance. Always, she was depicted as being on a visit that never ends. This Mother's Day, as you're giving candy and flowers and singing "M is for the Million things she gave me...," spare a thought for the poor, unhappy mother-in-law. Cue the laugh track: On Mother's Day, spare a thought for that eternal punchline: the mother-in-law

Songs only a mother could love

M is for the million songs that have been written about Mother. But not lately. Bouquets, baubles, Hallmark cards — those are the kinds of things we buy for Mother on her big day. The sheet music to the latest popular song about mother, not so much. But once upon a time, Mother was a song genre. More than that, she was an industry. Mother — not just on Mother's Day, but any time of year — used to be considered one of the few surefire topics for a Tin Pan Alley songwriter in search of a hit. Radoslovich served with the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps from 1986 to 1994, including a tour as an operating room nurse in Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm from 1990 to 1991, retiring with the rank of lieutenant commander. "Think M.A.S.H. television show and that's a pretty good idea what I was doing," Radoslovich said days after the honor at the stadium in the Bronx. "Living in tents, wounded soldiers." When Teresita Sayasa's kidneys began to fail last year, her daughter Tracy Montemayor immediately offered to donate one of her own. But Teresita, 71, was hesitant. What if Tracy's teenage son or another younger relative needed one of her kidneys in the future? "I told her that she wasn't going to be able to survive this without me," Tracy said. In 2023, mom, daughter and other family members gathered at a Korean barbecue restaurant to not only celebrate an early Mother's Day but to mark Teresita's new lease on life. I 'survived' infertility. But not before it shaped my perspective on everything.

essay on my mother story

"One day you will tell your story of how you've overcome what you're going through now, and it will become part of someone else's survival guide." –Brené Brown

I am now, very luckily a mom to two beautiful little girls. And if you ran into my family at a restaurant, you would not look at us and see the painful and rewarding journey that brought us together.

It took nearly 10 years, multiple surgeries, countless tests and procedures, hundreds of shots and so much heartbreak along the way to build our little unit.

Sunday is National Infertility Survival Day, which is purposefully recognized on the Sunday before Mother’s Day – a day that can be painful for those struggling to grow their families. The day is meant to acknowledge those fighting infertility and celebrate their wins, both big and small.

Most people’s battle wounds aren’t visible. We "survived" infertility, but not before it made its mark on us forever.

We are 1 in 100

My family’s struggles with fertility and pregnancy loss began in 2015 when my husband and I decided to start trying for kids. I quickly became pregnant, but unfortunately it ended in miscarriage.

Miscarriages are common , but nonetheless heartbreaking. Miscarriages, defined as the sudden loss of a pregnancy before the 20 th week, occur in about 10% to 20% of known pregnancies, according to the Mayo Clinic, but the number is likely higher.

We tried again and I became pregnant again shortly after. In September 2016, we welcomed our silly and smart daughter. She is now 7.

At that point, we didn’t think we would be the roughly 1 in 6 worldwide affected by infertility or the about 1 in 100 pregnant people who have repeat miscarriages .

But waiting in the darkness was an evil monster of infertility: secondary infertility , a term used for someone who is unable to get pregnant or carry a baby term after previously giving birth.

World Autism Day: To the parents of a newly-diagnosed child, one day you will bake a cake

Trying for baby No. 2

In 2018, we began trying to add another member to our family. Again, I quickly became pregnant, but again, the pregnancy ended in miscarriage.

My OGBYN called it a fluke and we tried again. Another miscarriage.

After that, my doctor recommended a pregnancy loss panel. Through that we discovered I had a couple genetic mutations, MTHFR and Factor V Leiden , both which can impact pregnancies and blood flow. Still, our case was mostly categorized as “unexplained.”

With those test results, we added a few medications into our treatment plan and tried again.

Another pregnancy. Another loss.

At that point, my doctor referred us to a fertility specialist.

A chance with IVF

It was in 2020, amid a global pandemic, that we decided to pursue in-vitro fertilization , the medical procedure that combines eggs and sperm in a lab dish before transferring the fertilized eggs into the uterus. Thanks to fertility insurance offered through my company, we were able to undergo the process. Without insurance, IVF can cost upwards of $25,000 , which we not have been able to afford.

We hoped IVF would increase our odds of success, but what we didn’t realize at the time, which later became very clear, is that IVF offers only a chance at pregnancy and a live birth. Nothing was guaranteed.

What is IVF? Explaining the procedure in Alabama's controversial Supreme Court ruling

Our journey with IVF was a roller coaster of ups and downs. We ended up with four healthy embryos that we froze for later transfers.

Doctors say it can take patients three embryos to equal one live birth . For us it took all four.

Our first transfer resulted in an empty sac pregnancy . Our second transfer worked, but it also ended in miscarriage. We named that baby, a boy, Jack. He made it to a little over 9 weeks and we got to hear his heartbeat a few times before he left us. We miss him.

Our third transfer was a biochemical pregnancy .

The little embryo that could

It all came down to our last little frozen embryo. At that point, we switched doctors and had a “throw everything at it” plan.

In December 2022, we transferred that last embryo. This was it. If it didn’t work, we would end our IVF journey and move on as a perfect family of three.

Week by week, we held our breath waiting to hear baby’s heartbeat. My belly started to swell but I still didn’t believe it. I felt her little kicks and then became obsessed with counting them, wondering if she was OK. We never made a pregnancy announcement and we barely set up a nursery. We just held our breath and prayed she would make it.

On August 7, 2023, our fiery, feisty second daughter came into this world. She was really, really here. She is now 9 months old.

You are not alone

Survivors of infertility all look different.

Some are parents, some are not. Some share their stories, while others sneak away into the bathroom for a good cry in private.

There are a lot of us out there. And we don’t have the choice but to survive – and thrive – throughout the process.

I would never wish this evil on anyone, but I am grateful for the perspective I gained from our infertility journey. I have more empathy. I have more patience. I have more faith.

And mostly, I have an experience that can help others.

I "survived" infertility and I am soaking up this beautiful life with my family. But you’ll still find me in the trenches with my fellow warriors, holding their hands, crying, and fighting the unfair battle.

You are not alone. We got this.

My brother took my grandparents' last name because they raised us. Here's why I didn't do the same.

  • My brother and I were raised by our grandparents, who had a different last name than we did.
  • When he decided he wanted to change his last name to theirs, I didn't understand at first.
  • I wanted to keep the connection we had to our parents.

Insider Today

It was 1987, though I still remember it like it was yesterday. The chair didn't fly across the room, which was my intention, but merely fell over with a thud in the direction of my target.

"Miss DeSimone!" the teacher yelled.

I wanted to tell him that one of the boys had made fun of me with the mocking taunt, "At least I have parents." This was something I would hear in a million variations throughout my life. The boy had a mother and father. Later in the year, he would have a basement party with boys on one side and girls on the other. I would publicly forgive his current indiscretion while privately holding onto it through adulthood, just for an invite to the party.

I did not have parents. One was dead, the other walked away. My grandparents raised me and my brother, Jamie. He is three years older. I don't remember the first time he broached the subject of taking their last name, Douglas, but I remember when it was decided.

I didn't understand when my brother took my grandparents' last name

The name belonged to the step-grandfather raising us alongside our biological maternal grandmother, and was of Irish origin. We were French, Norwegian, and Italian. To me, it felt like taking the name was a betrayal of our heritage — but that wasn't what stung the most. Instead, taking the name also felt like my brother's lack of allegiance to the parents who shared our DNA.

Jamie was already my grandparents' favorite. He was wild and beautiful. I was the responsible one. Predictable. Quiet. Boring. Cross-eyed. Why did he need to take their name too?

Related stories

As we sat down to dinner, a nightly ritual all those years ago, the radio hummed in the background with talk of sports or God. My grandmother finished chewing and announced, "Jamie wants to change his name to Douglas."

Ugh, I wouldn't share my name with anyone if my brother changed his. I imagined them asking, "Last name?" at the dentist or doctor. Douglas, they would assume. DeSimone, my grandmother would say. Explanations would be necessary. They had been since I could speak.

"I live with my grandparents," was a line I repeated as often as my name. I came to resent my friends for their simple stories and normal nuclear families.

"Do you want to change your name , Nicole?" After she shifted her food around on her half-empty plate, my grandmother added, "You don't have to."

My last name felt like the last connection I had to my parents

I was sure they wanted me to, even if they never admitted it. They couldn't understand why I wanted to keep the name of an addict, a man who left his children . What I couldn't explain was that if I didn't hold onto DeSimone, I would disappear. My history would as well. I had parents once, even if it was just for a little bit. My name proved it. It was the only thing we shared.

I was seven when my mother died. She overdosed just before she was supposed to head off to rehab. Even though she and my father were no longer together , she'd still had his name. It didn't matter that she'd run off to California with her biker boyfriend, leaving her children in Boston to be raised by other people.

The last memory I had of my mother was of a crib and an apartment and spilled milk that my brother tried to pour for me. It may not even be real. I had no mother or father, but I had the name. It was real.

A few months after that dinner, Jamie and my grandparents went to court so that he could legally become a Douglas. My grandfather's family celebrated. I watched, vowing to never give up my name, even when I married.

What I didn't realize then was that my brother's history with my parents was different than mine. He had more time with them. My brother also had an unbelievable memory, which was both a blessing and a curse.

Maybe for Jamie, being a Douglas was a way to finally be part of a real family. While I wanted to hold on to my name because it was all I had left, my brother needed to let it go. Looking back now, it seemed so important at the time, but it was just a name.

And eventually, though I'd promised myself in that courtroom I'd never give it up, I eventually did let it go to be part of a family, too. The one where I would be a mother who stayed and married a man who would stay as well. The one where I would have a house in the suburbs . With two daughters and two sons, and a dog and a cat, building something greater than the nuclear family I'd always envied. I took my husband's name and my children's name. It was passed on to him by his father, though at some point it was shortened and Americanized, and Johansson became Johnson.

I suppose we all want to fit in and belong, but our name is only a smart part of that. Maybe my brother knew this long before I did.
