Languagenut China

“We use Languagenut’s admissions assessments in many of our China Bilingual Schools. These adaptive assessments are easy to administer by our admissions teams and give our teachers a great indication of the English proficiency for their new students.

This is made more powerful in our schools that use the full Languagenut English product. Schools can set personalized language practice for their students to be completed both in school and at home.

The team at Languagenut HQ have worked tirelessly to make their product work for our context and the personalized service is second-to-none. We are excited to see this platform develop at our schools.”

"It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I recommend Languagenut! As head of the English Department I have seen the impact that it has had on the entire school community; teachers, students and parents. Languagenut has provided the students with an engaging means by which to practice daily.."

Joel Montenegro

Nord Anglia School Nantong

Our pupils simply love it.

Ash Hill Academy

Head of Languages

"As a teacher it helps you understand the student’s level by applying the proficiency test, which gives you a description of the student’s proficiency based on the CEFR. Furthermore, as a teacher you can assign different tasks for the students depending on which area you would like them to improve and the most valuable aspect is that you get statistics and results of the students, such as how many times they have practiced, if they have finished an assignment, how many points they have earned, amongst others."

Vicky Garduno, Head of EAL

"Languagenut is a great resource as it enables pupils to reinforce their vocabulary, whilst simultaneously practising the four keys skills of Modern Foreign Language learning, namely Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking."

Velmead Junior School

"Languagenut is an outstanding resource to use with language learners. I have been able to implement Languagenut into my English Language lessons to support the development of English as an additional or second language. Personally, I like how interactive and engaging the programme is and have enjoyed seeing my students flourish when using it, both independently and in group settings."

Jade Maxwell

Nord Anglia, China

"We love it because it engages the children, improves teacher confidence and tracks the childrens' progress. We use it for weekly lessons, termly assessment and on 'Languages Days' where the pupils can explore other languages and teach their friends any that they may speak at home."

Heather Zigler

Brunswick House Primary School

"As we know learning a foreign language has become even more important and beneficial for all our students and Languagenut is doing a fantastic job on implementing it."

Sylvie Snow

Edithvale Primary School

"The modern languages department in our school have also been making good use of it and it is good to be able to share resources with them as we rarely can use the same books/websites."

language nut homework

Students in all year groups complete MFL homework and revision on Language Nut. There is a mobile/tablet app that can be used or they can login on the website.

https://languagenut.com/

Homework will be set under “Assignments” and parents will receive a message home if a student does not meet their deadline. They can learn and practice vocabulary using engaging tasks and must then take the Quiz to complete their homework.

All Student logins are on their Year Group Team on Microsoft TEAMs.

If students are struggling to complete this at home, they may complete it after school with their MFL teacher.

Students can also revise using the Secondary resources on the website.

Language Nut

Language Nut is a fantastic online resource used by our MFL department to set online learning and homework. The website is an excellent tool for different students to be set work, as well as having the opportunity to explore key themes, important vocabulary, and play different MFL games.

All students will be given a username and password by their MFL teacher, and these will be written into their planners. Usernames are the first name and the surname initial, so John Smith would be JohnS. Passwords can’t be changed by students, so it’s really important that these are written down. If passwords are lost, your child can get in touch with their MFL teacher who can access this information online.

To access the website, please click  here . This will take you through to the log in page.

language nut homework

Students should then enter their username and log in information.

language nut homework

Students will have the following box on the left of their screen. If homework has been set, the Assignment box will have a number next to it, linked to the number of tasks that your child has to complete.

language nut homework

We encourage students to explore the different areas of the website – all of the categories allow you to practice the four core MFL skills – reading, listening, speaking, and writing. Students can complete activities, assessments, and play French games!

The vocab trainer area is a great place to practice key vocabulary, and it is divided into the different themes that your child will be studying in their MFL classes. There is also excellent exam skills for our KS3 and KS4 learners, as well as GCSE specific content. Pupils can complete work at their own pace without having assignments set, so it is a great revision tool for our learners!

Pupils can earn points and medals to recognise the hard work that they are putting in to learn more French, and we like to celebrate our Language Legends who put the most work in each week. Be careful though – to keep it competitive, points will disappear after 30 days! These points will give a student a global ranking, and show them how their progress and learning compares with every other student that uses the platform! It also contributes to our school’s global ranking.

language nut homework

There is a smartphone app available on Android and Apple, but this does not allow students to explore the website – only to complete assignments set by their MFL teacher.

If you have any questions, please encourage your child to speak to their French teacher.

language nut homework

Home learning that has been set can be found in ‘Homework overview’.

Homework Overview

It is possible that your child’s teacher may have assigned some activities for your child to complete at home, should you choose to. These can be accessed through the ‘Homework overview’ tab on the home screen. Here you can see any work that has been set for you and as well as past assignments. It will also tell you what date this work is due in.

Grammar and Verbs

This area gives you the opportunity to practise the more formal aspects of the Spanish language with grammar and verbs. This area is aimed more at KS2 children who have a good understanding of the language.

language nut homework

Sentence building

This section of Languagenut allows children who have a good understanding of vocabulary to begin putting some sentences together. Again, you can choose which area of learning you wish to practice these sentences in.

language nut homework

Once you have selected which area you would like to work on, you are then given the choice of 2 activities – ‘Fridge Magnets’ or ‘Sky’Rise’. Fridge magnets involves ordering the words into the right order so that the sentence is correct.

language nut homework

Skyrise involves typing the sentence given in English into Spanish in order to construct the building all the way to the top.

language nut homework

Topics Topics is similar to Vocab

Trainer only the content is grouped together into relevant topics. Once again you click on the desired content and begin to learn the words. Once confident you can begin to practice the different strands in speaking, listening, reading and writing. After that, there is once again the option of taking a test.

Never ending nightmare...

I cannot express the depths of despair and regret that have consumed my existence ever since I stumbled upon the abomination known as LanguageNut. It is as if my life has been irreversibly tainted by the dark forces that birthed this app into existence. The mere thought of opening LanguageNut sends shivers down my spine, as if I am willingly subjecting myself to a self-inflicted torture session. It is not just an app; it is a malevolent entity that has taken residence in the recesses of my mind, sucking the joy and purpose out of every waking moment. Who in their right mind could have concocted such a diabolical creation? The interface is a chaotic amalgamation of confusion and frustration, designed to baffle even the most patient souls. Every interaction with LanguageNut feels like a descent into the abyss, with each click leading me further into a realm of senselessness. The soul-sucking monotony of LanguageNut has eclipsed even the most mundane aspects of my life. Basic necessities like eating and sleeping have become secondary concerns, overshadowed by the looming dread of another encounter with this wretched app. It is as if LanguageNut has become the puppet master, pulling the strings of my very existence. The torment inflicted by LanguageNut extends beyond the digital realm; it has permeated my thoughts, haunting my dreams with visions of incomprehensible language exercises and mind-numbing drills. The very essence of my being is being eroded, and I find myself yearning for an escape from this never-ending nightmare. In the grand tapestry of human suffering, LanguageNut stands as a testament to the depths of depravity that technology can reach. It is a cautionary tale, a warning etched in the annals of app history: steer clear of LanguageNut, lest you wish to surrender your sanity to the void.
