Dear Sir, Through the column of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the Assam Power Distribution Company and the concerned department of the Assam Government to the erratic power supply in the entire Dibrugarh. The residents of this area have been facing great trouble because of unscheduled load-shedding and cutting off of the power supply, particularly in the evening hours and at night. During this summer season, people are compelled to spend sleepless nights. The worst sufferers are the students. They are bound to study in candlelight at night.

The residents of this area have met high officials of the Assam Power Distribution Company and submitted a petition highlighting the problems and urging them to regularize the power supply. So far nothing has been done and unscheduled load-shedding and power cuts continued as before in spite of their assurances. The residents have also brought the matter to the notice of the concerned department of the Government.

Hope this will attract the attention of the concerned authority and make them take the requisite steps to regularize the power supply in the areas.

Application for Work-Study Programs for Class 12 Students

Application for Work-Study Programs for Class 12 Students

To, The Principal, [Name of the School], [Address of the School],

Subject: Application for Implementing a Work-Study Program for Class 12 Students

I am writing this letter to propose the creation of a comprehensive work-study program for our Class 12 students. This initiative is designed with the objective to equip our students with practical skills, work experience, and a deep understanding of their chosen fields, complementing their academic curriculum.

These work-study programs will entail a collaboration between our school and various local businesses, organizations, and institutes in fields such as Science, Commerce, and Arts. The students will be given an opportunity to work part-time, enabling them to gain real-world experience while still pursuing their education.

The benefits of such a program are multifold. It will allow our students to apply their theoretical knowledge in a practical setting, foster a sense of responsibility, and develop essential soft skills like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. Furthermore, this program may also aid them in making informed career choices post their Class 12 examination.

To implement this program smoothly, I propose the formation of a Work-Study Committee comprising teachers, students, and parents. This committee will be responsible for establishing partnerships with local organizations, matching students with suitable work opportunities, and ensuring a seamless blend of academic and work responsibilities.

I firmly believe that this initiative will provide our students with a holistic educational experience, preparing them not just acadically but also personally for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in their career paths.

I kindly request you to consider this proposal and look forward to discussing this further at your earliest convenience.

Thanking You,

Yours faithfully, [Your Name], [Your Designation], [Name of the School], [Contact Information]

1. Write a letter to the editor of The Sentinel drawing attention of the authorities concerned regarding the poor condition of the roads in your locality. You are Rashmi / Manab living in Changsari, Kamrup.    Exam paper: 2019

March 24, 2012

The Editor,

The Sentinel,

G. S. Road, Guwahati - 781 005

Ref: Deplorable condition of the roads of Changsari.

Though Changsari is on the periphery of the Capital of the State, Guwahati, it is miles apart from it metaphorically, because it is devoid of proper road communications. Most roads are besides being narrow are full of pot- holes. The last rainy season left almost all the roads of the area badly damaged, and unfit for smooth movement of vehicles. As a result, traffic jam becomes a regular feature. It takes sometimes hours to cross the small distance of the village to reach the highway. Besides there are a number of wooden bridges in horrible condition. There may be mishaps any time. As a result, the inhabitants, particularly office-goers and students have been facing great inconvenience.

In spite of several representations the authorities have taken no step in this regard. I hope this letter will attract the attention of the authorities and they will take up the repair-works of the roads and bridges immediately.

Yours Sincerely,

6. Write a letter to the editor of a newspaper on reckless driving. You are Roshan/Divya living in Duliajan.      Exam paper: 2015

The Hindustan Times,

It is high time that appropriate steps are taken to stop the indiscriminate driving of motor cars in the narrow lanes of our densely populated city. Just yesterday a poor, old beggar had a narrow escape from being hit by a speeding motor car. He was crossing the road when the car came at a high speed of about ninety kilometers per hour. Such reckless driving leads to fatal accidents for pedestrians trying to cross the road.

It is true that there are rules regarding speed limits. But unless the police enforce them strictly, what will the motorists care about them? The police seem to pay little or no attention to the criminals. And so motor car accidents are almost a daily occurrence.

I hope the public, who are suffering the most, will put pressure on the police and municipal authorities to stop reckless driving before we have more deaths due to accidents.

Yours truly,

G. S. Road, Guwahati – 781005

I would like to draw the attention of the concerned experts towards the growing issue of noise pollution. It indicates loss of excitement, comfort and calmness. It is destructive to the physical and emotional well-being of individuals. Not a single day passes when no one escapes the noisy atmosphere. Blaming of loudspeakers at the time of religious functions, birthday parties or wedding ceremonies adds to the noise in the area. Patients do not get even a single hour of sleep. Loud noise affects the attention of the students and thus has a direct impact on their health and studies. I request the authorities to take remedial steps in this regard and instruct to use loudspeakers at lower pitch. This will surely bring relief to all. I hope my voice reaches the authorities and the residents are protected.

The format of the letter of the job application  is the same as other letters. The only difference is that it does not include any reference number as it is a communication between an individual and the organization.
