Short Speech on Mothers for Mother’s Day | 1 Minute

If an angel asks me to make a wish, I would make a wish for good health and prosperity for another Angel on earth and that is my mother. If I am not wrong you would also do the same.

Greetings to everyone gathered here. I (your name) cordially welcome all of you & want to pay you thanks for having me a chance to speak in front of you.

Did you know? The word “ Mother ” is derived from the Sanskrit word “ maatri ” which means a woman who gives birth & a mother is the most influential character in everyone’s life. She is our first well-wisher, our first teacher, and also our first friend. She has to awake many nights just for taking care of her child.

Today I want to say a few words to my mother-“Dear mom, you made me the luckiest person in the world by being my mother. I can not repay you what you did for me. I just want to express my love to you. You’re the woman that has sacrificed all her life just to build mine”.

Thank you, Mom. Love you, Mom.

Emotional Speech on Mothers | 2 MInutes

Hello and welcome to all the people present here. Before I start my speech on mothers, I would like to wish you a Happy mothers Day. Also, I want to thank you for having me this valuable opportunity.

As you know I am here to speak a few words about mothers but the fact is; “No matter how much effort is made, it is impossible to define the word “Mother” in available words in the world”. A mother sacrifices her days and nights for her children’s happiness and to satisfy their needs.

I assure you, you will be running out of energy if you put yourself into the shoes of your mother. Then you will realize the actual workload that she has to deal with. After, you will question yourself,” how does my mother manage all that?”. And you will result in respecting her more intensely than ever.

Her love is unalloyed (unmixed). Those who have not experienced a mother’s affection are unfortunate. She loves their child with no expectations in return. Sorry to fathers but fathers can’t establish a connection with their child-like mothers does.

At last, I want to say a few words dedicated to my mother; “Dear mom, whatever I am today is because I have you. You taught me to be myself even during hard times. I wish you nothing more than fulfillment and happiness”

Thank you for always being my defence, fortress, and shield. Your love has been the pillow I rest on during the hard times, I can’t afford to repay you. Love you, Mom.

Heart touching Speech on Mothers | 4 Minutes

I cordially welcome all of you gathered here. I am here to deliver a speech on mothers. Before I start my speech, I would like to wish you a Happy mothers Day. Also, I want to thank you for having me this valuable opportunity.

In philosophy, it is said that when God found it tough to protect the whole world, he made mothers. A mother is a beautiful gem in everyone’s life and can not be replaced by anyone else. She is the one who takes care of us in our childhood, encourages us in our teenage, and supports us in our hard times.

When we were kids and could not be able to help ourselves, she took care of us and devoted her days and nights to the sake of our comfort. But, Today we are mature enough to take responsibility. Now we must serve our Mother with love.

Irrespective of what the condition is, you will always find your mother standing by you. She is our first well-wisher, our first teacher, and also our first friend. She will take care of you at every age. The connection she shares with her child, can’t be established with anyone else in the world.

There is no doubt that a mother’s love is very outstanding and hard to find anywhere else. This is unique because a mother perceives her child as her part. This attachment is very sensitive as a mother can sense your situations and feelings from a long distance.

One thing is crystal clear we cannot repay her favours but we should try to get her free from all her responsibilities at least once a week. What does she expect from us other than respect? So we need to respect her cordially. We must always try to keep her happy and relaxed.

Mothers are a great invention of God. All the mothers on the planet, be humans, animals, or any other species, are greatly appreciable. They are a combination of love, strength, and limitless courage. I am very thankful to God for blessing me with my mother.

At last, I want to dedicate some of my words to my mother; “my angel, my strength and my supermom. For replacing my shame with boldness, my sadness with happiness and my fear with courage, thank you.

Even after all these years, you are the most gorgeous and kindest woman I know. No wonder you don’t age. I’m so glad to be called your son. Looking at you reminds me that not all angels have wings and not all Superheroes wear special costumes. You have been my guardian angel from the first day and I love you, forevermore”.

Love you, Love you, Love you, My mother.

short speech about mothers love

The Incredible Love of a Mother

Introduction Good morning! I’m here today to talk about the love of a mother. This quote, “The love of a mother is the veil of a softer light between the heart and the heavenly Father,” really resonates with me. Today, I’d like to share with you why I think this is true, and why the love of a mother is so powerful.

Demonstration of the Power of a Mother’s Love Let me start by sharing a story with you. A few years ago, I was in a really dark place in my life. I was struggling with depression, and I felt completely alone. But then I remembered that I had a mother who loved me, and I had a heavenly Father who loved me too. I decided to reach out for help, and I called my mom.

My mom dropped everything and came to be with me. She stayed with me for days, and during that time, she made it her mission to show me just how much I was loved. She cooked my favorite meals, hugged me when I was sad, and told me stories about when I was little. She reminded me that I was not alone, and that I was loved.

Through her love, I was reminded of the love that I had from my heavenly Father. My mom’s love was the bridge that connected me to that love. Her love was the soft light that showed me the way.

Conclusion The love of a mother is truly incredible. It is the veil of a softer light between the heart and the heavenly Father. I hope that this story has shown you why this is true. Remember, no matter what happens, your mother will always love you, and your heavenly Father will always love you too.

Mother’s Day Speech - 10 Lines, Short and Long Speech

"Maa" changed to "Mummy," and "Mummy" changed to "Mom" . But regardless of what we label it, our mother's love and compassion for us remain constant. The sacrifices a woman makes for her children cannot be repaid in a single day. Even so, we honour mothers by celebrating her on mother’s day.

  • 10 lines speech on Mother’s Day

Every year we celebrate the second Sunday of May as mother’s day. This day differs from region to region and may be celebrated before or after in a few countries.

Mother’s Day Speech - 10 Lines, Short and Long Speech

Mother is considered the epitome of love and affection. Nobody in the world can replace a mother.

Charley Benetto once said that when you look at your mother, you are looking at the purest form of love.

The struggles of a mother start from the day she conceives and goes on for a lifetime.

For every child who fulfilled his dream, there was a mother behind sacrificing her sweet dreams for reality.

The same sweet and innocent mother becomes the warrior when any problems occur in the lives of her children.

This day gives us the moment to think about the sacrifices made by the mother and thank her.

The closest and the most transparent relation any person can share is with their mothers.

There are a few situations in which we have seen people leaving their mothers to old age homes as they didn't realise their worth.

It is very late when they realise their worth. So it would be better if we understood the value of this before only.

A mother can do every possible thing for the sake of her family and doesn't ask for anything in return. She feeds her child with her flesh and blood. Even a small token of love is appreciated by our mothers. She teaches us all the things in life. From using a fork to choosing a friend, from reading books to reading the minds of people, from walking a step to walking into realities of life, from drawings to dreams every path we conquer is all due to the support of our mothers.

It is our due responsibility to take care of our mothers and treat them with respect. The overall character and personality of the child are determined by the mother. She sticks to us through thick and thin.

Great personalities have different perspectives of looking at things. So, once when our president APJ Abdul Kalam was asked about birthdays, he replied “ It is the only day in your life... Your mother smiled when you cried” . She gives us life on a single day but she dies every day to give us a good upbringing.

Each religion teaches us to respect our mothers. She is considered great even when considered to be a god. Even the god bows down to her. Lord Vishnu reincarnated as Little Krishna only to experience the love of the mother. The love of the mother is the only thing that doesn't discriminate or change the situation.

Long speech on Mother's Day

Mother is the first person whom we contact on this earth. The pain experienced by any woman while giving birth is the highest amount of pain any human can endure. According to The Bible, God can't be present anywhere, so he created the mothers. This single word holds enormous feelings. Nobody can replace a mother, but the rest of everybody can be replaced by a good mother. She is our first teacher, First friend, guide, philosopher, cook and many more.

She is the biggest support system in our lives. Mary Mason says “A baby is a thing you carry in your womb for nine months, in your arms for three years and in your heart till you die” . This line implies the feelings a mother has for her child.

History | In the American context, The first efforts were made by Anna Jarvis followed by the death of her mother in 1905. The holiday was first celebrated in the year 1907. President Woodrow Wilson announced it as an official holiday in 1914. However, the celebration of motherhood can be traced back to ancient Romans and Greeks, who held festivals in honour of mother goddesses Rhea and Cybele.

Celebrations

The modern-day celebration started in America. However, few countries follow different days and dates. Many countries such as Albania, Armenia, Russia, Vietnam, Bulgaria, Bosnia, Kosovo, Laos, Serbia, and Tajikistan celebrate it along with International Women’s day.

Few countries like Ireland, Nigeria and the U.K. celebrate Mothering Sunday on the “Fourth Sunday” of May month.

Many countries celebrate it on the Spring equinox on 21 March. These are Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan and many more.

In India, It is celebrated on the Second Sunday of May along with countries like Austria, Australia, Bhutan, Canada, Cambodia, Denmark, Greece, Pakistan and many more.

This is the story of a little boy who was taught by his mother. His mother was a schoolteacher. This child was inquisitive. But when he attended school, he faced various problems. He wasn't able to understand things. This was because he developed hearing problems at the age of 12. He became completely deaf in one ear. However, he was attracted to science and conducted many experiments at home.

Once when he returned from school he had a note written by this teacher. He handed the note to his mother and said that my teacher said only you could open it. His mother opened the letter and weepingly said, Your teacher says the child is extremely intelligent for the school and so, the school can’t teach him.

After many years after the death of his mother, while cleaning the closet he found that letter. When he opened the letter, he found that his teacher had written that “Your child is addled and hence, a misfit for the school” . He credited all his success to his mother who didn't stop him from learning and rather worked hard to teach him.

This was the story of a very famous scientist, who failed a thousand times before his invention. The boy was Mr Thomas Alva Edison, the inventor of the light bulb.

  • Speech on My Mother

Your Ideal Companion by Vedantu

My Mother Speech is kind of a special one as one gets to express what they truly feel for the most important person in their life without whom there would be no existence and sometimes for Speech On My Mother it can also be difficult as one is overwhelmed with emotions to express their love and gratitude. This can be given on special occasions like birthdays, or Mother’s day or on any day one wishes to celebrate their mother’s love and presence in their life. This speech can be given in varying formats like Long Speech on My Mother or Short Speech on My Mother.

Long Speech on My Mother

Good Morning all, a warm welcome to everyone who has gathered here today for the celebration of the most important and underappreciated figure in our lives, our Mothers.

Whenever one is in pain and hurt, they like to tend to the care of their mother, and whenever one wishes to celebrate a success also one first likes to thank their mother and I am no different. My mother brought me into this world with a lot of love and pain so it is natural that when we are in extremes of our emotional state we like to run to our mother for her care and concern and she always embraces us.

My mother is my biggest supporter and cheerleader, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank my mother for everything she has done for me and my siblings. A mother is like nature, she is giving and forgiving, she is the most nurturing and compassionate person in the world. My mother works unrelentingly to make the lives of everyone around her better, she wakes up every morning before dawn and works till late at night, and more often these efforts go unnoticed by the people around her, and yet she doesn’t complain. She is the one who has taught me all about time management living by example. For me, she is the true definition of selflessness.

My mother is my best friend. We share everything and she is very open and blunt about what she thinks about my actions. This quality of my mother has taught me the importance of being honest with kindness and not being rude just because you think differently from others. My mother has taught me how to not give up after faltering, she has always motivated me in trying again and doing new things to discover myself. All my mistakes were also celebrated. She is a great host, whenever my friends or our relatives come home, she prepares a full treat meal and everyone’s taste is served and everyone is well-fed, even if it is late in the evening. Her welcoming nature has taught me to be open and gracious as well. Well, I would be lucky to have half the grace she exudes. She is the one who has taught me all about time management living by example. There is no one like her, she is my superhero.

When you have such a great living example at home, you don’t need to look for inspiration elsewhere. My mother uplifts everyone around her, and I am always in awe of her exuberant personality. There is a popular saying that goes because God can’t be everywhere he made mothers, isn’t that so true and wonderfully put. You are the best mother in the world. I only hope to become half the woman that you are. I love you Maa.

Short Speech on My Mother

Good Morning all, a warm welcome to everyone here today for the celebration of the most important and underappreciated figure in our lives, our Mothers. Thank you for showing up in such large numbers to celebrate our real heroes.

A mother is someone who gives birth to us, nourishes us, nurtures us, and raises us to be good human beings. She knows us even before we have set our foot into this world. She understands us better than anyone, even when we are not speaking. She takes care of us like a devoted nurturer and protects us like warriors. My mother has played so many roles in my life, she is a teacher, she taught me how to walk, talk, read and write when I fall sick she also stays up all night to look after me and be there by my side and the next morning goes about her daily routine of waking everyone up, making breakfast, cooking lunch and cleaning without showing any hesitations.

She does so much for everyone with a smile and I have learnt to stay optimistic and hopeful in any difficult situation from her strength and courage. My mother is the strongest woman I know and even though we fight and disagree sometimes she always listens to my point of view and understands my perspective without any judgment. She has taught me to be kind and respectful of everyone’s opinions and ideas. She is the best cook and the greatest mother.

Whatever good I am, all the good in me people speak of is because of you my mother. I owe everything to you. Any action I take I always think of making you proud of me. Thank you for instilling such strong values in me. It’s my honor and privilege to be born to a mother like you.

Thank you.

I Will Have to Wait Until I'm a Mother

Real Simple

I struggle so deeply,

to understand,

how someone can,

pour their entire soul,

blood and energy,

into someone,

without wanting,

anything in,

A Mother...

When you're a child she walks before you

To set an example.

When you're a teenager she walks behind you

To be there should you need her.

When you're an adult she walks beside you

So that as two friends you can enjoy life together.

A Special Day

For a special mom on this special day,

Your daughter has some words that she wants to say

Please know that I appreciate all the things that you do

Love you so much, Mom, happy Mother's Day to you!

My Mother Kept A Garden

My Mother kept a garden,

A garden of the heart.

She planted all the good things

That gave my life its start.

She turned me to the sunshine

And encouraged me to dream.

Fostering and nurturing

The seeds of self-esteem.

And when the winds and rain came,

She protected me enough.

But not too much because she knew

I'd need to stand up strong and tough.

Her constant good example

Always taught me right from wrong.

Markers for my pathway

That will last a lifetime long.

I am my Mother's garden.

I am her legacy.

And I hope today she feels the love

Reflected back from me.

And if I won the lottery

I'd share my win with you

Life doesn't come with a manual. It comes with a mother.

Please and Thanks

You taught me how to wash my face

And how to use the potty.

You made me eat up all my greens

And wiped my nose when snotty.

You taught me to say Please and Thanks,

Because politeness is the way.

So 'Please' can I borrow some money?

Just kidding. Happy Mother's Day!

The Thought That Counts

Roses are red, violets are blue,

Happy Mother's Day Mom!

Sorry you didn't give birth to a poet who could rhyme!

Month of May

For all the diapers

that you changed,

For all the play dates

you arranged.

For all the trips

back and forth to school,

For cleaning all the spit up

and the drool.

Why is there only

one Mother's Day?

You should have at least gotten

the ENTIRE month of May!

Love is Forever

Sometimes you're silly and sometimes you're weird,

Occasionally I feel embarrassed and want you disappeared.

Sometimes you annoy me and I yell and shout,

And every now and then you make me pout.

Often I say things to you which I don't mean,

And I might even act like a crazy drama queen.

But no matter what happens or how I may act,

My love and appreciation for you is an eternal fact!

You Know Me

Mom you know the worst of me,

My weaknesses and follies,

I know you've seen me poop my pants

and cut the heads off dollies.

You know all my most embarrassing moments,

You know that I'm a nut,

So what can I do to repay your love...

...and make sure you keep your mouth shut!?

Mother's Day can be tough when you've lost your mom—or when someone you know and love has lost their mom. These Mother's Day in heaven poems can remind any child—whether young or all grown up—that a mother's love lives forever.

Your Clothes

Of course they are empty shells, without hope of animation.

Of course they are artifacts.

Even if my sister and I should wear some,

or if we give others away,

they will always be your clothes without you,

as we will always be your daughters without you.

—Judith Kroll

Rock Me to Sleep

Mother, dear Mother, the years have been long

Since I last listened your lullaby song:

Sing, then, and unto my soul it shall seem

Womanhood's years have been only a dream.

Clasped to your heart in a loving embrace,

With your light lashes just sweeping my face,

Never hereafter to wake or to weep;

Rock me to sleep, mother, rock me to sleep!

—Elizabeth Akers Allen

How to Give Your Mom a Poem for Mother's Day

Whether you decide to pen your own personal ode to your mom, or you want to share some of these great words as a tribute to your mom for Mother's Day, there's more than one way to share your heartfelt sentiments.

Write the poem in a card

Whether you choose to share this sentiment in a blank greeting card or add it as a supplement to the greeting card's message, she'll appreciate the touching thoughts.

Print the poem and frame it

All you need is the poem, a great font, and a pretty picture frame to turn this into a keepsake gift she'll treasure. If you have lovely penmanship, go ahead and write it out to add a more personal touch.

Recite the poem to your mother

If your mom isn't one for a lot of clutter hanging out in her house, reciting the poem instead may be a better solution. You could even record a video of you performing it and send it to her to commemorate the moment.

Create a custom sign with the sentiment

If your mom's all in on the heartfelt sayings as wall art trend, printing the poem onto a customized canvas or sign will allow your mom to see your feelings about her every single day on her walls. (And you can likely include artwork or an image of your family with it as well!) Sites like Etsy and Minted are a good place to start when it comes to creating customized wall art.

If you're a fan of words of affirmation, here are some quotes to share – or write on a card – this Mother's Day.

  • Speech on Mother for Students and Children

Speech on Mother

A very warm welcome to all the teachers and students present in the auditorium. I am here to deliver a speech on mother. We have many relationships with people around us that we cherish. But, the most important, loved, the pure and divine relationship is that of a mother and child. A mother’s selfless love, care, and affection make it the most significant and Godly relationship. I would like to quote Rudyard Kipling’s words here. He said, “God could not be everywhere, and therefore he made mothers”. I truly believe these words of his. We say that God created mankind but our mothers created us. A mother not only gives us life but does our upbringing and also protects us. Thus, she is our Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh.

From the time when a mother conceives her child, she gets emotionally attached to the child. A child is only the flesh and blood of her. She undergoes immense pain while delivering a child. Yet, she can never see her child in pain or any problem.

She is the protective shield and safeguards her child in all situations. She spends sleepless nights while raising her child but never complains. Her feelings, emotions, love, care, and affection are completely incomparable and selfless.

Mother as Teacher

A mother is our first teacher. She teaches us to walk, to talk and to eat. She teaches us the basic manners and etiquettes. A mother feeds us, cares for our needs and makes us a good human being. She helps us in our studies and also encourages our talents. Her whole life revolves around her children.

She also inculcates qualities of love, care, understanding, helping others, honesty, empathy, etc. in us. She inclines us towards believing and having faith in God. We also learn religious things from her. A mother teaches us many moral lessons through story-telling or poetry. She is thus similar to Goddess Saraswati.

Mother as a Friend

Our mother is our first and best friend. She understands everything we say and also what we are not able to say. Her shoulder is always there in the times when we feel low. She laughs with us, plays with us, goes out with us and enjoys with us. A mother never judges us, no matter what wrong we do. She shares her life experiences with us which makes us strong. We can talk about everything to her. She always guides us through difficult times.

After having said about the mother, I would like to conclude by saying that words always fall short when you talk about the sacrifice and love of a mother. A mother is definitely next to God or rather above God as she is the one who teaches us to believe in God and have faith in Him. She is the most adorable and lovable person in this world. Her prayers and good wishes are always there with her children.

So, friends, we should always love and respect our mother and her thoughts. It is our duty to take care of our parents when they get old as they did in our childhood. I request you all to love and respect our parents unconditionally and selflessly and make this world a wonderful place to live. Today, I also take the opportunity to thank my mother and being grateful to her and God for having me in her life.

You gave the gift of life to me And then in love, you set me free. I thank you for your tender care, For deep warm hugs and being there. I hope that when you think of me A part of you You'll always see. ~ Anon.

This next Mother's Day poem is a sweet little verse to write in a greeting card to your Grandmother on Mother's Day.

Short Mother's Day Poem for Mom Roses are red, Violets are blue, Sugar is sweet, And so are you!

The following poem is to give along with the handprint of a small child (e.g., on a card or canvas that Mom can mount on the wall).

My Handprint Here is my handprint, Five fingers in all, Outside they are short, But the middle is tall. You will find them on windows, You can find them on the wall, They will make a big mess, For something so small. One day I will grow, And leave them no more, My handprints will be missed, Of that I am sure. So here is one now, That you can't wipe away, My present to you, This Mother's Day. ~ Anon.

This short Mother's Day poem is also meant to be accompanied by a finger painting done by a small child.

Fingerprints! Dirt and cookie fingerprints are not too hard to find, You'll see them on our walls and drawers, Where I go, they're left behind! But soon I'll learn to wash my hands, And tuck them by my side, The walls and drawers clean once more, No grubby marks to hide. So here I leave my fingerprints, Each and every one, Painted as a reminder, Of dirt, and cookies, and fun! ~ Unknown.

M - O - T - H - E - R “M” is for the million things she gave me, “O” means only that she’s growing old, “T” is for the tears she shed to save me, “H” is for her heart of purest gold, “E” is for her eyes, with love-light shining, “R” means right, and right she’ll always be, Put them all together, they spell “MOTHER,” A word that means the world to me. ~ Howard Johnson

The Best Day I know you were on my side even when I was wrong; And I love you for giving me your eyes, staying back, and watching me shine. ~ Taylor Swift

What 'Mother' Means "Mother" is such a simple word, But to me there’s meaning seldom heard. For everything I am today, My mother’s love showed me the way. I’ll love my mother all my days, For enriching my life in so many ways. She set me straight and then set me free, And that’s what the word "mother" means to me. ~ Karl Fuchs

Only One Mother Hundreds of stars in the pretty sky, Hundreds of shells on the shore together, Hundreds of birds that go singing by, Hundreds of lambs in the sunny weather. Hundreds of dewdrops to greet the dawn, Hundreds of bees in the purple clover, Hundreds of butterflies on the lawn, But only one mother the wide world over. ~ George Cooper

Tribute to Mother A picture memory brings to me; I look across the years and see Myself beside my mother's knee. I feel her gentle hand restrain My selfish moods, and know again A child's blind sense of wrong and pain. But wiser now, a man gray grown, My childhood's needs are better known. My mother's chastening love I own. ~ John Greenleaf Whittier

A Song For Mama You taught me everything; Everything you've given me I'll always keep it inside; You're the driving force in my life. ~ Boyz II Men

Mothers Are the Gardeners Mothers are the gardeners Of wind-blown wild flowers. They water them with happy tears, Happy with them many years, Even as the hours Ring with sweet, sad melodies Sighing through their bowers. ~ Nicholas Gordon

Christian Short Mother's Day Poems & Bible Verses

Here are some beautiful short Mother's Day verses that are great for writing in a card to your mom. For more religious poems for your mom, take a look at the full collection of Christian Mother's Day poems here.

A Mother's Prayer For You I said a Mother's Day prayer for you to thank the Lord above for blessing me with a lifetime of your tenderhearted love. I thanked God for the caring you've shown me through the years, for the closeness we've enjoyed in time of laughter and of tears. And so, I thank you from the heart for all you've done for me and I bless the Lord for giving me the best mother there could be! ~ Anon.

God's Masterpiece God took the fragrance of a flower, The majesty of a tree, The gentleness of morning dew, The calm of a quiet sea. The beauty of the twilight hour, The soul of a starry night, The laughter of a rippling brook, The grace of a bird in flight. Then God fashioned from these things, A creation like no other, And when his masterpiece was through, He called it simply - Mother. ~ Herbert Farnham

Motherhood The dearest gifts that heaven holds, The very finest, too, Were made into one pattern That was perfect, sweet, and true; The Angels smiled, well-pleased, and said: "Compared to all the others, This pattern is so wonderful Let's use it just for Mothers!" And through the years a mother has been All that's sweet and good For there's one bit of God and love, In all true Motherhood. ~ Helen Steiner Rice

God's Helpers God could not be in every place With loving hands to help erase The teardrops from each baby's face, And so He thought of mother. He could not send us here alone And leave us to a fate unknown; Without providing for His own, The outstretched arms of mother. God could not watch us night and day And kneel beside our crib to pray, Or kiss our little aches away; And so He sent us mother. And when our childhood days began, He simply could not take command. That's why He placed our tiny hand Securely into mother's. The days of youth slipped quickly by, Life's sun rose higher in the sky. Full grown were we, yet ever nigh To love us still, was mother. And when life's span of years shall end, I know that God will gladly send, To welcome home her child again, That ever-faithful mother. ~ George W Wiseman

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: Proverbs 31:25-28

The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace. Numbers 6:24-26

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Poems About Mother's Love

From infancy, throughout childhood, and into adulthood, a mother's love is steadfast and true. These poems about a mother's love try to express how powerful and special that love is.

Mother's Love A Mother's love, a Mother's care, A Mother's sigh, a Mother's prayer A Mother's work, and Mother's day, Leaves little time for any play. A Godly Mother with Godly love, Is treasure from God above, A Godly Mother with Godly care, Has God's help when she sighs a prayer. ~ Calvin M Lake

Her Love is Like an Island Mother's love is like an island, In life's ocean vast and wide A peaceful, quiet shelter From the wind, the rain, the tide. 'Tis bound on the north by Hope, By Patience on the west, By tender Counsel on the south And on the east by Rest. Above it like a beacon light Shine Faith, and Truth, and Prayer; And thro' the changing scenes of life I find a haven there. Mother's Love ~ Anon

To My Mother For all the times you gently picked me up, When I fell down, For all the times you tied my shoes And tucked me into bed, Or needed something But put me first instead. For everything we shared, The dreams, the laughter, And the tears, I love you with a "Special Love" That deepens every year. ~ Anon.

A Mother's Love There are times when only a Mother's love Can understand our tears, Can soothe our disappoints And calm all of our fears. There are times when only a Mother's love Can share the joy we feel, When something we've dreamed about Quite suddenly is real. There are times when only a Mother's faith Can help us on life's way, And inspire in us the confidence We need from day to day. For a Mother's heart and a Mother's faith And a Mother's steadfast love, Were fashioned by the Angels And sent from God above. ~ Anon

Thank God for Mother's Love There is no love, like a mother's love, no stronger bond on earth... like the precious bond that comes from God, to a mother, when she gives birth. A mother's love is forever strong, never changing for all time... and when her children need her most, a mother's love will shine. God bless these special mothers, God bless them every one... for all the tears and heartache, and for the special work they've done. When her days on earth are over, a mother's love lives on... through many generations, with God's blessings on each one. Be thankful for our mothers, for they love with a higher love... from the power God has given, and the strength from up above. ~ Anon

Mother's Day Poems for Moms Who Have Passed Away

Mother's Day is a difficult time for those who are grieving the loss of their Mom. When you feel ready, it can become a time to celebrate your late mother's love and the time you had together. These poems offer a powerful tribute to honor your mother's memory.

Mother We had a wonderful mother, One who never really grew old; Her smile was made of sunshine, And her heart was solid gold; Her eyes were as bright as shining stars, And in her cheeks fair roses you see. We had a wonderful mother, And that's the way it will always be. But take heed, because She's still keeping an eye on all of us, So let's make sure She will like what she sees. ~ Unknown

If Roses Grow in Heaven If roses grow in heaven, Lord please pick a bunch for me, Place them in my Mother's arms and tell her they're from me. Tell her I love her and miss her, and when she turns to smile place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for awhile Because remembering her is easy, I do it every day, but there's an ache within my heart that will never go away. ~ Dolores M. Garcia

You Were There You were there when we took our first steps, And went unsteadily across the floor. You pushed and prodded: encouraged and guided, Until our steps took us out the door... You worry now "Are they ok?" Is there more you could have done? As we walk the paths of our unknown You wonder "Where have my children gone?" Where we are is where you have led us, With your special love you showed us a way, To believe in ourselves and the decisions we make. Taking on the challenge of life day-to-day. And where we go you can be sure, In spirit you shall never be alone. For where you are is what matters most to us, Because to us that will always be home... ~ Unknown

Four Biblical Mothers to Remember (and Lots of Devotions for Moms)

hannah

The Bible speaks highly of mothers who raise children and guide their families in a righteous manner; in the oft-quoted Proverbs 31 , the “wife of noble character” is honored by her husband and children for her virtues.

Motherhood wasn’t a requirement for godly women in Bible times—and just as today, not every woman who wanted children was granted her wish. But the mothers and matriarchs of the Bible exhibit qualities that all of us, male or female, parent or not, should strive to emulate. Here are a few of the famous mothers of the Bible, with links to their stories:

1. Mary, the Mother of Jesus

Perhaps no more famous mother exists than Mary, who at a young age learned from an angel that she would give birth to the long-awaited Messiah. Her song of praise in response, and the well-known events of Christ’s birth, are what usually spring to mind when we think of Mary. But her role as mother brought her grief as well as joy; we can only imagine what it must have been like for her to witness Jesus’ crucifixion . Read her story in John 19.

2. Elizabeth

Mary’s was not the only miraculous birth recorded in the New Testament. Elizabeth was a godly woman who was “righteous in the sight of God, observing all the Lord’s commands and decrees blamelessly”—and yet she and her husband were unable to conceive a child. God answered her prayers late in her life and she gave birth to John the Baptist, but is perhaps best known for her prophetic encouragement of the young (and perhaps frightened) Mary: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!” Read her story in Luke 1.

Hannah is one of the most inspiring mothers in the Bible, although her story is less well-known. Despite years of patience and prayer, she remained unable to have a child. One day “in her deep anguish Hannah prayed to the L ORD , weeping bitterly” —and God answered her prayer at last. But Hannah’s character truly shone when, in gratitude to God, she dedicated her newborn son to His service. Her son would one day become one of Israel’s greatest prophets. Read her story in 1 Samuel 1.

4. Sarah, the Wife of Abraham

Sarah is one of the great matriarchs of the Bible—yet she didn’t become a mother until very late in life. In fact, her reaction to God’s promise that she would have a son was to laugh, as memorably recorded in Genesis 18 . Nevertheless she did give birth to a son, and her lineage would include Jesus Christ himself. Read her story in Genesis 18.

There are many more famous mothers described in the Bible; many of them righteous, some not so much, but all used by God to bring about His design. This weekend, as we give thanks for the mothers in our lives, consider how you can embody the traits that define a godly mother—patience, kindheartedness, faithfulness—and consider how you can encourage the mothers in your community, young and old, as they work to meet that same standard.

Gaza latest: Israel's use of weapons provided by US likely violated international law, report by Biden govt finds

The Biden administration says Israel likely violated international law with US-provided weapons. Earlier, Israel's ambassador to the UN used a paper shredder to shred the UN charter on stage at the UN General Assembly.

Firefighters are battling a large blaze in Kiryat Shmona, a city in northern Israel, after 35 rockets were fired by Lebanon's Hezbollah, according to The Times of Israel.

The news site cited the Israel Fire and Rescue Services as saying 10 firefighting teams were at the scene.

Video posted on social media appeared to show the fire on what looked like the side of a hill.

No casualties or injuries have been reported.

A report by the US government has said that Israel's use of US-provided weapons in Gaza likely violated international humanitarian law.

In the findings of a state department report - known as the national security memorandum - the Biden administration said it has found "reasonable" evidence to conclude that its ally had breached international law.

But it added it was unable to link specific US weapons to individual Israeli strikes.

The report said: "Given Israel's significant reliance on US-made defence articles, it is reasonable to assess that defence articles have been used by Israeli security forces since 7 October in instances inconsistent with its international humanitarian law obligations or with established best practices for mitigating civilian harm."

It added that while Israel has the knowledge, experience and tools to implement the "best practices for mitigating civilian harm in its military operations" evidence from the ground - including high levels of civilian casualties - raise "substantial questions whether the IDF is using them effectively in all cases".

Turning to the issue of aid getting into Gaza, the US government report said it does not currently assess that the Israeli government is prohibiting or restricting the transport or delivery of aid.

Crucially, the report stops short of saying that Israel has violated the terms under which it is able to use US weapons to carry out its offensive in Gaza.

By Mark Stone , US correspondent

A huge majority of the world's nations voted with the Palestinians at the United Nations today.

But who were the nine countries that voted against the Palestinian quest for membership, rights and privileges at the UN, and why?

The current Israeli government is firmly against a Palestinian state in every sense.

Different iterations of Israeli governments over the years have oscillated on 'two states', but after the 7 October Hamas attacks the Israeli position cemented - no two states, no Palestinian state.

Broadly, they do not distinguish between the extremism of Hamas and the moderate nature of other Palestinian political factions like the Fatah-run Palestinian Authority in the West Bank. It's the crux of deadlock.

So who else?

The United States

They stand behind Israel despite significant tension now between President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

America is committed to a two-state solution but argues that it begins with a ceasefire and that the formation of a Palestinian state comes much further down the line.

Speaking after the vote, White House spokesman John Kirby said: "We continue to believe in the promise of a two-state solution and an independent state for the Palestinian people.

"That's something that President Biden remains fully and firmly committed to. We also believe that the best way to do that is through direct negotiations with the parties and not through a vote at the UN of this kind, so that's why we voted no."

As always with geopolitics, relationships are so often symbiotic; they are all about mutual benefit even when, ostensibly, the relationship might seem incongruous.

The eastern-European EU member voted with Israel and against the Palestinians.

Don't assume that hard-right Hungarian Prime Minister Orban's hatred of Hungarian-born Jewish-US billionaire George Soros is a reflection of his views on Israel despite the anti-Soros narrative often being seen as antisemitic.

Antisemitism has haunted the right of politics in Hungary since the Second World War when half a million Jewish Hungarians were murdered. Yet Orban and Netanyahu have a close, longstanding relationship.

Israel and Hungary are aligned by mutual interests.

Orban admires the way Netanyahu's ethos of building strength out of a small nation-state and the two leaders found mutual interest in standing up to liberal democratic headwinds.

Orban's fallout with the EU has aligned with Netanyahu's assessment that Europe is increasingly anti-Israel.

The Soros-hatred also aligns with Netanyahu in that the conspiracy is that Soros is somehow seeking to 'Islamise' Judeo-Christian Europe with his pro-immigration stance.

Argentina's vote is driven by new populist President Javier Milei who has pledged unwavering support for Netanyahu and has vowed to move Argentina's embassy to Jerusalem.

Milei has said he plans to convert to Judaism.

Czech Republic

The Czech Republic also voted with Israel in line with a strongly pro-Israel stance underlined repeatedly since 7 October.

There is a strong historical bond between Czech leaders and the Zionist movement which helped cement the Jewish State which strengthened after the fall of Communism in 1989.

As a new democracy, the Czech Republic bonded with a young democracy in Israel. In recent years, economic ties have flourished.

Pacific Island Nations

The rest, curiously maybe, are all Pacific Island nations: Micronesia, Papua New Guinea, Nauru and Palau.

The reason for their support is simple: straightforward soft power.

The small developing nations all enjoy generous Israeli aid from the government and from Israeli charities.

The understanding is that, in return, they will always support Israel at international bodies of which they are members.

Israel insists that its motivation is predominantly humanitarian, but officials are up front to that it's also about positioning Israel in a better light.

Israel uses its considerable expertise in many arenas deftly.

At natural disasters, for example, Israeli rescue crews are often among the first on the ground.

This targeted soft power diplomacy has helped Israel to secure votes, but also abstentions in its favour among many other nations too.

On this vote though, on Palestine, global opinion was overwhelmingly against Israel.

Israel's entry for Eurovision 2024, Eden Golan, has become one of the favourites among bookies to win this year's contest.

The 20-year-old singer climbed to second favourite from ninth after the semi-final, according to Eurovision World, a website that compiles betting odds from 15 of Europe's biggest bookmakers.

It said Israel is seen as having a 22% chance of winning, behind Croatia's Baby Lasagna who was seen having a 41% chance.

It comes despite more than 10,000 people gathering in the host Swedish city of Malmo to stage a non-violent protest against Israel's participation in Saturday's final.

While the results of the two semi-finals are decided by viewers, in the final, audience votes will make up only half of the result, while juries of five music professionals in each participating country will make up the other half.

Earlier, the Israeli ambassador to the United Nations appeared on stage at a meeting of the UN General Assembly.

Whilst on stage in New York he shredded "a copy of the UN charter" - which was, in reality, three pieces of paper.

His actions came moments before the 193-member world body approved a resolution, giving Palestine new "rights and privileges" within the agency.

Watch the full moment below.

A first of its kind report by the US government is expected to conclude that Israel has not violated the terms of its use of US weapons, according to sources cited by the Associated Press.

The report - known as the national security memorandum - was pushed by President Joe Biden's Democrats in Congress.

When agreed to back in February, defence and state departments were tasked to conduct "an assessment of any credible reports or allegations that such defence articles and, defence services, have been used in a manner not consistent with international law, including international humanitarian law".

They were also obliged to tell Congress if they thought Israel has acted to "arbitrarily to deny, restrict, or otherwise impede, directly or indirectly," delivery of any US-supported humanitarian aid into Gaza for starving civilians there.

It follows the US pausing a shipment of 3,500 bombs heading for Israel over concern they would be used in an offensive on Rafah.

The conclusions of the memorandum are expected to be sharply critical of Israel, but will not state that Israel violated terms of weapons agreements between the two countries.

A senior Biden administration official said the full report is expected to be released later today, but declined to comment on its conclusions.

Palestinians in Rafah are still preparing to evacuate the eastern parts of the city amid the threat of an Israeli ground offensive.

The United Nations estimates around 110,000 Palestinians have already fled in search of safety.

In the latest pictures from the city, a tent camp where people are currently living is seen.

In one of the images, people appear to have started to make piles of their belongings as they get ready to evacuate.

South Africa has asked the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to order additional emergency measures against Israel over its attacks on the city of Rafah, the United Nations top court has said.

It is part of the ongoing case brought by South Africa in January which accuses Israel of acts of genocide against Palestinians .

The court - which is located in The Hague in the Netherlands - ordered Israel at the beginning of the year to take all measures within its power to prevent genocide.

South Africa wanted the ICJ to implement provisional measures on Israel which would "immediately suspend military operations in and against Gaza" - but the ICJ stopped short of that.

Any decision to impose provisional measures will be "hugely problematic" for the Israeli offensive, which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed will continue until all hostages are returned and Hamas is destroyed.

Within the last few hours, the United Nations General Assembly has backed a bid put forward by Palestine for it to become a full agency member.

The vote passed by 143 votes to nine but 25 countries - including the UK - abstained.

In a post on X, the UK at the UN explained why it took the decision to abstain.

"We are abstaining on this resolution because we believe that the first step towards achieving this goal is resolving the immediate crisis in Gaza," it said.

It said the fastest way to end the conflict is to secure a deal which releases all hostages and allows for a pause in fighting.

The statement added that the UK remains firmly committed to a two-state solution and recognising a Palestinian state, including in the UN, and should be part of the process to achieving a sustainable ceasefire.

The US ambassador to the UN Robert Wood gave similar reasons as to why America voted against the bid, saying its vote does not reflect opposition to Palestinian statehood.

"Instead, it is an acknowledgement that statehood will only come from a process that involves direct negotiations between the parties," he said.

What happens next?

For Palestine to become a full UN member, the 15-member UN Security Council will have to vote, and pass, the application.

At the last security council vote in March - which demanded a ceasefire in Gaza during the holy month of Ramadan - the US abstained.

The 14 other council members - including Russia, China and the UK - voted in favour.

For now, it remains unclear if or when the security council will vote on Palestine's membership bid.

Hamas has said it will hold talks with leaders of what it called "Palestinian resistance factions" to reconsider its negotiation strategy.

It said the discussions need to be held due to Benjamin Netanyahu's behaviour, Israeli attacks on places in Rafah and the occupation of the city's border crossing with Egypt.

"Netanyahu and his government are using the negotiations as a cover to attack Rafah and occupy the crossing, and continue the war of extermination against our people, and they bear full responsibility for obstructing reaching an agreement," the statement said.

Earlier this week, Hamas said they expressed agreement over a ceasefire deal following a phone call with Qatar's prime minister and Egypt's intelligence minister.

Israel later put an end to this, saying it would not accept the deal in its current form, a decision Hamas said today had brought things "back to square one".
