1939 Rolls Royce Wraith
1939 Rolls Royce Wraith Additional Info:
For sale in our Fort Lauderdale showroom is a stunning 1938 Rolls Royce Wraith. First produced from Rolls Royce's Derby factory from 1938 to 1939 and supplied to independent coachbuilders as a running chassis. This low production car during world war 2 had a production number of 491! Due to the war many of these cars production dates were halted and were not finished until years after WW2. The wraith chassis design and power came from a inline 6 cylinder overhead valve engine that pushed out 4,257 CC of power. It would send all that power to a smooth shifting four speed gearbox that had synchromesh on second through fourth. The ride in these cars were incredibly smooth for their time mostly due to the independent coil sprung suspension. With the addition of 17' inch wire wheels rapped in bias ply tires. This stunning wraith is ready to be add to any classic collectors garage. To see more HD pictures and video please visit GatewayClassicCars.com. Rolls-Royce designed the Wraith as an alternative to the massive 12-cylinder Phantom III, but WWII limited production to just 492 examples. This is likely the most exquisitely restored Wraith in existence, having received an over-the-top, body-off, frame-up restoration by marque experts.
Mr. J.H. Aston of London took delivery of this Wraith in November 1938. It is believed to have come to the US in the late 1950s, and in 1969 it was acquired by Gene Littler, winner of the 1961 US Open golf championship. Later, still in original condition, it was purchased by noted collector William King of Redding, Connecticut, who commissioned Dennison-Jayne Motors to restore it mechanically and had Enfield Auto Restoration refinish the body panels. A second side mount was added during restoration to balance the design, and its full complement of road tools is truly a sight to behold. The large history file includes restoration photographs, notes, invoices, and orders for the work, which was completed in 2008.
Today, the Wraith is offered in brilliant Prussian Blue, trimmed in Saddle Tan leather upholstery with hand-polished, book-matched burled mahogany. The coachwork by Thrupp & Maberly features the unique and charming crowned roofline the coachbuilder used in many of its closed designs. Astonishingly presented throughout, the fortunate new owner may be assured that this is one of the finest examples of the elegant Wraith.

Rolls-Royce delivers 6,000 cars in '23, the most ever in one year
Adding to the british brand's profit margin are new customization programs.
It's good to be Rolls-Royce : In the year just passed, the British automaker sold more cars than ever.
Rolls delivered 6,032 cars around the world — the most in its 119-year history — "despite continuing economic uncertainties and market volatility," the company said in a statement.
The manufacturer’s largest market last year was the United States, followed by China . The biggest-selling model was the Cullinan SUV, followed by the Ghost , the smaller of Rolls-Royce’s two saloons.
In 2023, affluent buyers began taking possession of Rolls' first all-electric Spectre model in the autumn. Production of Spectre followed the expected demise of the brand’s Wraith and Dawn models.
Rolls-Royce cars are produced in Goodwood , southern England. The high-level brand became part of BMW in 1998.
It has lately been emphasizing its custom Bespoke division, which generally accounts for higher profits builds. Treatments offered at extra cost to dress up a Rolls include special paint, styling cues and interior "scents."
Current Chief Executive Chris Brownridge, who took on the role last autumn, said: ‘It’s especially encouraging to see the enormous interest in and demand for Spectre, supporting the decision to adopt a bold, all-electric strategy for future model development and production. The record level of Bespoke commissions, both by volume and value, also underlines our position within the luxury sector.” His predecessor, Torsten Muller-Otvos, departed the company in November, having led the group since 2010 and overseen record-setting performances.
Rolls’s North American division recently announced that it would drop the prices of some “aging” units in dealer inventories by $15,000 for cars sold by the end of March. The deal, unusual for Rolls-Royce, stipulates that the models that could benefit are the $375,000 Cullinan and Black Badge Cullinan, as well as the $350,000 Ghost, Ghost Extended and Black Badge Ghost. Every little bit helps, we suppose.

Rolls-Royce Posts Record Sales For 2023 With 6,032 Cars
Home » Rolls-Royce Posts Record Sales For 2023 With 6,032 Cars
January 8, 2024 / 2 minutes read
How do you top the record-breaking sales of 2022? By shipping even more cars in 2023. That’s precisely what Rolls-Royce accomplished last year when shipments grew even further, reaching an unprecedented 6,032 vehicles delivered in over 50 countries. While a volume increase of 11 cars may not sound substantial, it becomes noteworthy when considering the average transaction price for a Rolls-Royce in 2022 was around €500,000 .
It’s worth noting that 2023 saw the demise of two models – the Dawn convertible and Wraith coupe . Setting a sales record with two fewer cars is even more impressive. Granted, Rolls-Royce’s first-ever EV joined the lineup as deliveries of the Spectre coupe commenced last fall. This zero-emission vehicle leads RR’s electric ambitions, as the plan is to end the production of vehicles with combustion engines in 2030.
As expected, the best-selling product last year was the Cullinan SUV , followed by the Ghost and the flagship Phantom. When it comes to regions where demand was high, the ultra-luxury British brand part of the BMW Group achieved record levels in the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, and Europe. However, the United States was Rolls-Royce’s largest single market, ahead of Greater China.
In Europe, the UK was the firm’s largest single market. Record sales in the Asia-Pacific region were mainly attributed to a strong demand from customers in South Korea. When it comes to ultra-expensive Bespoke commissions, the Middle East once again came out on top.
As to what lies ahead, 2024 is an important year for the Goodwood-based marque since RR has entered its 120th year. On May 4, 1904, Charles Rolls and Henry Royce met for the first time, and the rest is history. The company has laid the foundation for another strong year by hiring 180 employees and bringing on board over 130 apprentices.
It’s unclear whether there will be new models carrying the Spirit of Ecstasy statuette this year, although spy shots have indicated the Cullinan is preparing to receive a subtle facelift .

Rolls-Royce sees record sales as luxury buyers shake off 'market volatility'
Posted: January 8, 2024 | Last updated: January 8, 2024
Despite elevated interest rates, geopolitical uncertainty, and higher prices in general, luxury automaker Rolls-Royce Motor Cars ( BMWYY ) reported record sales for 2023 as its ultra-high-net-worth clientele continued buying bespoke automobiles.
The Goodwood, England–based company reported that it sold 6,032 cars to clients, the most in its 119-year history, despite “continuing economic uncertainties and market volatility,” the company said in a statement. Though it was a record year, Rolls only sold 11 more cars than it did in 2022, when sales jumped a healthy 7.8% .
Rolls-Royce said the US was once again its largest single market, followed by China. Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific regions all saw record sales as well. Rolls doesn’t report results geographically, though it has said in the past the US accounts for 35% of sales.
“2023 was another extraordinary year for Rolls-Royce, with strong sales performances in all regions and across the full product portfolio,” new Rolls-Royce CEO Chris Brownridge said in a statement. Brownridge succeeded longtime CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös, who retired at the end of November following a 14-year run.
Across the product range, the Cullinan SUV was the most popular Rolls-Royce worldwide, followed by Ghost sedan. Rolls said demand for all models “remains exceptionally strong." The company told Yahoo Finance last year that the future order book also remains strong, with the average age of its buyers getting younger, at 42 years old .
A big part of getting younger buyers involved introducing newer cars like the Ghost and Phantom sedans, as well as what the company said is its most important release ever, the Spectre EV. Rolls said first deliveries to clients began in Q4, with the coupe (which replaced the Wraith and Dawn two-door cars) marking its beachhead for taking on the luxury EV market. Rolls plans to be fully electric by 2030.
Rolls said the first Rolls-Royce EV in its history has attracted strong interest across around the world and among younger clients. ”It’s especially encouraging to see the enormous interest in and demand for Spectre, supporting the decision to adopt a bold, ‘all-electric’ strategy for future model development and production,” CEO Brownridge said.
Rolls has also seen increased sales and uptake of its high-margin bespoke commissions, which have been popular with clients in the US and Middle East who prefer custom additions to their cars. In addition to bespoke, Rolls has leaned in on its “coach-built” business, which sees the company build extremely limited-edition versions of certain cars for longtime customers. At Pebble Beach last summer Rolls unveiled its “Rose Noire Droptail,” a dramatic swept-back convertible with an estimated $25 million price tag .
