Essay on How I Spent My Summer Vacation At Home – Essay 1 (200 words)
Introduction
Summertime is a treat for all the students struggling the whole year with exams and assignments. This is when they can spend their days doing whatever they want without restrictions and pressure from parents or teachers. Most students and their parents or friends prefer to go to some hill station or village or for other outings to relax. But holidays can also be fun when they are spent staying at home.
Things I Did Staying at Home
This summer, I decided to stay at my home during summer vacation instead of going anywhere for the trip. To spend my time fruitfully, I joined classes where I learned canvas painting, and along with it, I also started learning table tennis. I helped my mom in the kitchen afternoons and assisted my dad with some accounts-related tasks. This was the best time when I felt close to and involved with my family. Then, for the remaining time, I went out with friends. I also spent some time watching movies and web series. Besides entertainment, these shows and movies also taught me some life lessons.
So, this summer vacation was spent getting closer to myself and my family, which I couldn’t do during my academic year. I realized how fruitful and satisfying it could be to spend holidays at home.
Essay on How I Spent My Summer Vacation with My Grandparents – Essay 2 (300 words)
Summer vacation is the most awaited time in a student’s life. It is the time to relax and explore the world around us. This time I decided to spend my summer break with my grandparents. Here’s a brief account of my stay at my grandparents’ house during my summer vacation.
Our Experience at our Grandparents’ Place
My sister and I decided to spend summer vacation with my grandparents this year. They live in a small village near Kutch district, Gujarat. We were unsure about this trip because we had never visited any town before and knew nothing about their lifestyle. But as days passed, we adjusted to their way of living and enjoyed it.
Our stay was full of fun. My grandmother told us funny incidences about my dad as a little mischievous and a notorious kid. She told us how he used to play pranks on his school teachers and their neighbors. She also told us how my sister and I behaved when we were young. She told us we were as notorious as our dad.
One day my grandfather took us to the Great Ran of Kutch, located in the Thar Desert and one of the world’s largest salt deserts. We took a camel ride and stayed there till the sunset. After spending some quality time there, we went to the main market. My grandma told us about Kutch’s unique handicrafts and how many women make their living by selling different embroidered clothes. We bought an embroidered kurta for dad and a sari for mom. After this, we headed back home and helped grandma with dinner. The next day we went with our grandpa to a farm, and he taught us various farming techniques, which was fun. We indulged in different activities each day.
This was one of the best trips where we had loads of fun and learned about Kutch’s culture and heritage. I am looking forward to more trips like these.
Essay on How I Spent My Summer Vacation in My Village – Essay 3 (400 words)
For those living in metropolitan cities, summer holidays mean watching movies and television series, hanging out with friends, or surfing the internet. This consumes all of our time. But, this summer, spending time at my aunt’s place in Bhiwani village was an enthralling experience. It seemed like a different world to me.
Knowing Village Culture
The houses in the village are as big as palaces, but still, people are emotionally attached and aware of what is going on in each other’s life. Eating together, understanding situations and opinions of other people, and working together are some of the small things that add to beautiful village life .
Waking up early in the mornings is a practice that most villagers follow. It keeps them healthy and makes their day more productive. So, all the people in the house are required to be awake by 6 in the morning, which initially seemed like a curse to us. My uncle owns a kitchen utensils shop; he opens it at 7 in the morning daily. He left for work before 7 am each day. Most people were seen heading for their work around the same time.
I spent my mornings in the kitchen with all the ladies of the house, doing preparations for breakfast and lunch. I also helped them clean up the house after the kitchen tasks. In the afternoon, my brother and I took a round of the village and delivered lunch at my uncle’s shop. The rest of the afternoon was spent in slumber after having a heavy diet and loads of gossip.
The evening time in the village was the time for which I waited with a lot of excitement. One evening we went to the village well where women went to fetch drinking water. It was great to see them balance the pots full of water and walk back in a row. But the main treat was to see the confidence and happiness on their faces. The village also encompassed a big playground that used to be full of kids during the evening hours.
Our aunt and uncle also took us to the farm to show us the beautiful process of growing and nurturing fruits and vegetables. Looking at the farmers putting so much effort into their harvest and faces during the harvesting time was a great sight.
I also went to one of the panchayats going on in the village under a banyan tree, where issues of the village were being solved by the elders of the village with the consent of all other people of the village. This is where I witnessed a small example of democracy.
The simplicity of life in the village is where its beauty lies. My visit to the village always teaches me compassion and love towards our family.
Essay on How I Spent My Summer Vacation in Hill Station – Essay 4 (500 words)
The summer season is mainly known for the heat waves and holidays we students get. It’s a great time for students to go for a stress-relieving trip and to be closer to nature, for which they don’t get time during their hectic schedule throughout the year.
We Decided to Go to a Hill Station
Our family decided to go for a summer trip to a hill station this year. Many beautiful places in India are known for their scenic beauty, such as Mussoorie, Ooty, Wilson Hills, Kufri, Nainital, Manali, Kerala, and Rishikesh. After a long discussion about which hill station to go for, we finally settled for Shimla.
Our Trip to Shimla
We all went there via road in our car and reached there in the morning. Then, we directly went to the hotel that we had already booked. Shimla has everything to lure the tourists, from lavish hotels to picturesque locations and mall roads to shopping streets full of people from different cultures.
We had planned the trip for 5 days. So in the evening of our first day of the trip, we went to the mall road and Jhaku hills which are known as the main tourist spots in the city. In the evening, many different activities are going on there. It was amazing to witness the nightlife of Shimla. We visited the Footloose Discotheque, full of vibrant people and buzzed with great music.
Our next day included traveling on the toy train. This toy train here runs from Kalka to Shimla. There are only 3 such trains in our country, and one of them is here. It’s an amusing experience to travel through them irrespective of the fact that they are slow. The evening was spent doing snow adventures such as skiing and bungee jumping.
The next days were spent visiting places near Shimla, such as Chail, Kufri, and Chitkul. These places can be visited for some snow adventure besides enjoying their beautiful scenic beauty.
Shimla is also a good treat for foodies like me. A bizarre thing about Shimla’s food is – that tiny diners or cafes are offering just fast food, a variety of teas and cold drinks, or fancy eateries that have overpriced alcohol on the menus – there is no ground in between. We had salami burgers at Beekays, which were delicious.
During all these days filled with loads of activities to do, we used to get tired in the evening, but the nightlife there or just staring at the starry sky gave us an immense sense of joy and filled us with new energy. There is enchanting music from tall trees standing upright there, curvy roads that make one look at those beautiful hills from all angles, and that lively breeze that fills one’s soul and heart with ecstasy.
We came back to Delhi after spending five fun-filled days in Shimla. The memory of this trip is fresh in my head. Shimla is indeed the queen of hill stations. I would love to revisit the place.
Essay on How I Spent My Last Summer Vacation – Essay 5 (600 words)
Summer is the most awaited time in any student’s academic year. Despite the scorching sun and blazing heat, these months have always brought a peculiar type of calmness to my soul that oozes freedom from monotony and dullness. As it is time for vacation, it is the time to explore, wander, plan, and much more. Summer vacations are always fun, but my summer holidays were especially memorable. What made it special was that it was my first advent on foreign land or, I might say, “lands.”
My First Foreign Trip
The year 2017 was my last academic session in school. So, before going to college, a complete family gateway to exotic lands was the gift I got from my family. I could not have asked for more. Our travel plan was a perfect mixture of fairy Disneyworld and glamorous Hong Kong and then to the multi-ethnic country island of Malaysia.
On the very next day, when my summer vacation began, I found myself at terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji airport, Mumbai, looking for my flight boarding pass and posting stories about it on my social media accounts. My parents, siblings, and cousins surrounded me. There was excitement on everyone’s face. Being a full extended family vacation with all my cousins, aunts, and uncles, it seemed super fun from the time we set out in cabs to the airport. It was not my first time being amidst the clouds, but it was my first international flight giving a magnificent view of the night lights of the complete city, and looking at that, I knew that this trip was going to be a one-of-a-kind experience for me.
Landing in Hong Kong, I was taken aback by the mere sight of their airport. I think they lived to the “first impression is the last impression.” I was amazed beyond imagination, but somewhere, I knew this was just the beginning. The first day at this beautiful place mainly consisted of exploring the streets of this breathtaking city, which was rich in fashion, food, tech, and everything that screamed modern and at the same time archaic in their way of life.
The next place we visited was what all of us had dreamed of visiting for a long. It was the mesmerizing Disneyland. The first thing that caught my attention was not the people around dressed in Disney characters or the marvelous expanse of the space and rides and shops but the castle at the far end – The Disney Castle. It was just spectacular. The very charm and enchantment of it knocked me out of breath. The fireworks at night after a complete parade show make you wonder if you had crossed a line and entered the fantasy world. It had been much more than I imagined, even in my make-believe.
The next was a traveling day as we moved to our next destination Malaysia. The City gateway was the complete opposite of where we came from. This city did not have many skyscrapers, but the beautifully spread horizontal city was rich in culture and diversity. The exquisiteness of mosques, museums, and heritage sites perfectly blend with the city’s modern lifestyle and layout. The hilltop parts of the country, like Genting Highlands, could be called heaven on earth. The beaches here offer a perfect place to relax and rejuvenate. I am glad we choose this as our last destination during this trip.
This has been one of the best holidays I have ever gone on. I saw so many beautiful places, had great experiences, and spent a lot of time with my loving family. My last summer vacation was indeed the best so far.
Long Essay on How I Spent my Summer Vacation – Essay 6 (800 Words)
Summer vacation is the most awaited time of the year by the students. With almost a year of classes, schedules, tests, and examinations behind them, they look forward to a joyous and relaxed month. Summer vacation could be spent in many ways, depending on your choices and preferences—some like playing and visiting places, while others prefer watching TV and their favorite movies.
I wouldn’t say I like watching TV, even when my parents don’t object. My heart craves the woods and the serenity of nature, away from the hustle-bustle of everyday existence. I have always wanted to visit forests and similar landscapes in the lap of nature.
Below I have narrated a journey to a few places I took during my last summer vacation. Though I returned and joined the school after that, the memories of the journey and the places are deeply engraved in my heart.
The journey started with a visit from my town to my ancestral village and then to a wildlife reserve, which I am sure you too will plan to go on this vacation, after going through my experiences.
At Village with my Grandparents
The journey began on the next day of my summer vacation. My father made these arrangements well in advance, supposedly when I was preparing for my exams. When I came back home after writing my last exam, my mother and sister were already packing for the journey. Though I knew we would visit our grandparent’s village and stay there for a couple of days, I had no idea about the further planned trip.
The journey to the village was smooth. We started well ahead of the train’s arrival time and reached the platform before its arrival time. It is three hours of a train journey from my city to the grandparent’s village, passing through lush green agricultural fields and glimpses of village life.
When we got off the train, I saw my grandfather waving and walking toward us, accompanied by my cousins. After exchanging initial greetings, we walked towards our house a couple of kilometers from the station. Though there is a road to reach the house, we took rather secluded trails, passing through the fields.
Something is mesmerizing about an Indian villages ; the cool breeze, the peace and calm, the smell and sound of cattle, and the distant sound of a pumping set from the fields entices you and makes you cherish every passing moment.
The food, milk, and even water taste much better in the village than in the city. We stayed in the village for four days, during which I met many of my relatives, elders, and friends from the village. I even went to our family’s agricultural field and learned a few tips for farming. Four days passed quickly, and the day soon arrived when we had to move on a further journey. However, it appeared that a few surprises were waiting for me.
Trip to the Dudhwa National Park
When the day arrived, I was in for two surprises firstly, that we were going to “Dudhwa National Park” and secondly that my grandparents were also going with us.
Dudhwa tiger reserve is a protected area spanning over 1280 sq km in Uttar Pradesh. It stretches across the districts of Lakhimpur Kheri and Bahraich, sharing the northeastern boundary with Nepal.
We boarded the train to Bareilly from Varanasi, an unforgettable overnight journey spent with family and like-minded wildlife enthusiasts, traveling to the same destination as us. From Bareilly, we took a connecting train to Dudhwa, which is approximately a distance of 12 kilometers.
We reached the park in the evening and stayed in a simple yet comfortable resort, having all the comforts and basic amenities. The staff was accommodating, and the food was simply delicious. The resort was securely surrounded by forest on all s, use and was well guarded. We fell to sleep listening to the voices of jungle fowls and animals from a distance.
The next morning we all woke up early and got ready for the jungle safari. The forest deforests deforest department organized the safari in anth a guard and an experienced guide onboard. As soon as we entered the forest, we started seeing birds and animals, which we had only seen in books and television. Birds like Bengal Florican and great slaty woodpecker were a delight to watch. Different species of lizards were also seen crawling to cover.
As we progressed deeper, many species of deer- swamp deer, barasingha, and chital came into view. We were also lucky enough to spot barking deer, which is very difficult due to its shy nature. We were lucky enough to spot a tiger lurking in the bushes on our third and last day. With this last sighting, our journey ended, and we headed back home on the same evening.
Summer vacation is the best time in any student’s life. A month or more of a fun time at your disposal is nothing less than a blessing. There are several ways to spend a summer vacation, although we must spend it in such a way that we learn new things and gain new experiences. Also, take care not to harm or disregard anyone during your enjoyment.

How to Write an Essay on How You Spent Your Summer Vacation
Last Updated: January 4, 2020

Writing an essay on how you spent your summer vacation is a classic way of starting a new school year. Think about this essay as an opportunity to tell a story about your summer while reflecting on the experiences you had. Choose a memorable moment you had this summer and start crafting your essay, giving as many details as possible.
Choosing a Topic
- These can also make nice visual aids if you are asked to present your essay.
- A list might be full of things like babysitting, attending a camp, working at a local store, taking a road trip, etc. This type of brainstorming can help you pick major events and other important moments from your summer.
- For example, maybe you spent your summer traveling around Japan. Think of a memorable moment you had while traveling — maybe you walked up a mountain in the pouring rain — and write about this moment, adding lots of details.
- For example, if you're writing about spending time at the beach, your outline could remind you to talk about the sandcastle building contest you entered, the dolphins you saw, and the ice cream you ate every day.
- Details might be what the other sandcastles looked like, how far away the dolphins were, and what kind of toppings were on your ice cream.
- Your outline is just to help you organize your thoughts — it can be written by hand or typed.
Crafting the Essay
- Instead of saying that you worked in a pet store, ate a PB&J sandwich, and walked home every day, talk about more than just your actions. You could talk about which pets are your favorites to work with, how it felt to eat the same sandwich every day, or what you thought about on your walk home.
- Using sensory details like these will help your readers visualize and engage with your writing. These help your audience make your experiences feel real to them, even though they weren't there.
- For example, instead of saying “I went to the beach this summer,” try saying “I spent my summer swimming in the frigid water at Virginia Beach.” The more details you can provide, the more engaged your reader will be.
- Instead of saying “the burger was really good,” you could say, “the burger was juicy and filling.”
- Don't just rely on spellcheck. It will help catch some errors, but it will miss some things, too.
- Ask a parent or other adult to read over your essay too, if you'd like.
- Setting your essay aside for a little while will give you a fresher perspective when you go back to revise it.
Structuring Your Essay
- Make sure your conclusion doesn’t just copy the introduction.
Community Q&A
- Write your essay from the first person point of view, using "I." Thanks Helpful 3 Not Helpful 1

I spent my summer vacation in the countryside with my family. We rented a cabin by a lake, and spent our days fishing, hiking, and exploring the surrounding area. The countryside was beautiful, with rolling hills, dense forests, and sparkling lakes. We spent most of our days outdoors, soaking up the sun and enjoying the fresh air.
One of the highlights of my summer vacation was going fishing with my father. We would rise early in the morning, pack a picnic, and head out to the lake with our fishing gear. I had never been fishing before, and I was amazed by the beauty and tranquility of the lake. We spent hours fishing and chatting, and I was thrilled when I finally caught my first fish.

Overall, I had an incredible time on my summer vacation. I got to relax, explore, and eat lots of great food. It was definitely a trip to remember!
Activities I did during the vacation
I spent my summer vacation doing a lot of different activities. I went to the beach, swam in the ocean, and played in the sand. I also went hiking and camping in the mountains. I explored different caves and saw some amazing rock formations. I also took some time to relax at home and read books and play video games. Overall, it was a great summer vacation!
Places I visited over the vacation
I had a great time over the summer vacation visiting different places. I went to the beach, the mountains, and even the city. Each place had its own unique sights and sounds that made for a memorable experience.
The beach was my favorite place to visit. I loved feeling the warm sand between my toes and listening to the sound of the waves crashing against the shore. The mountains were also beautiful, with their towering peaks and lush forests. And finally, the city was a fun place to explore, with its tall buildings and busy streets.
Overall, I had a wonderful time on my summer vacation and would love to do it again sometime soon!
Highlights of my summer vacation
I spent my summer vacation at the beach. It was so much fun! I got to swim, sunbathe, and build sandcastles. I also got to eat lots of delicious food. The best part of my vacation was spending time with my family and friends. We laughed, we danced, and we made great memories together.
Challenges faced during the vacation
One of the challenges I faced during my summer vacation was finding ways to entertain myself. I live in a rural area, so there are not many options for things to do. Another challenge was dealing with the heat. It can get quite hot here in the summer, and there are not always a lot of places to cool off. Finally, another challenge was staying motivated to do things. It can be easy to just relax and not do much when on vacation, but I tried to find ways to stay active and productive.
Reflections and lessons learned from the experience
It’s been a little over two weeks since I got back from my summer vacation in Europe. Overall, it was an amazing experience that I’ll never forget. I got to see some incredible sights, try new food, and meet new people.
There were definitely some challenges along the way, but that’s all part of the adventure. I’ve come away from this trip with a better understanding of other cultures and a greater appreciation for what I have at home.
Here are some of the key reflections and lessons I’ve taken away from my summer vacation:
1. Slow down and enjoy the journey. It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind and forget to appreciate all that life has to offer. Seeing all the incredible things Europe has to offer was a powerful reminder to slow down and savor the moment.
2. There’s so much beauty in diversity. One of the things that struck me most about Europe is the diversity of its cultures and people. It’s truly a melting pot of different traditions and beliefs, and it’s something we should celebrate instead of fear.
3. We have more in common than we realize. Despite our differences, there is so much that we share as human beings. At the end of the day, we all want to be happy and loved, and that’s something we should remember when interacting with others.
4. Cherish your time with family and friends. Spending time with my family and friends was the highlight of my trip. It’s easy to take our loved ones for granted, but being away from them was a stark reminder of how special they are to me.
Overall, this experience has reaffirmed my faith in the power of travel and taught me many valuable lessons. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to see the world and experience all that it has to offer.
My summer vacation was an amazing experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. From attending a concert to exploring new places, there was never a dull moment during my time off from school. I learned so many valuable lessons about myself and the world around me, and am grateful for these memories that will stay with me forever. Whether you had an incredible adventure or stayed home to relax, make sure to take some time to enjoy your summer break – it goes by too quickly!

Essay on Summer Vacation in 100 words
An incredible time to visit hilly destinations with family are holidays. They give an escape from the same monotonous life schedule. The summer season is an incredible time to have those stress-free excursions and get in touch with nature which is nearly impossible in our daily schedules for the whole year. I visited my grandparents last year and stayed with them for two weeks. In contrast with the word summer, the cool thing about summer vacations is discovering new trails, creating new things, etc. During my stay with my grandparents, I also read novels and other books that helped me expand my knowledge of the world. For the remainder of the vacation days, I spent them playing games and cooking my favourite dishes. |

Summer is a time to bask in the warmth of the sun, explore new horizons, and create lasting memories. During this break, I embarked on a journey of relaxation and adventure. I had the opportunity to visit the serene beaches of a coastal town. The soothing sound of waves and the gentle caress of the sea breeze offered a perfect escape from the bustling city life. The sand between my toes and the sun kissing my skin provided a sense of tranquillity. Holidays are an amazing time for us to visit hill stations with family. The summer season is a great time for us to take stress-free trips and get to trek in nature, which we aren’t able to do in our busy schedules for the entire year. Last year I visited my grandparents and stayed with them for 20 days. The best thing about the summer holidays is creating and discovering new things in the village. While enjoying my stay, I also learned some new things that expanded my knowledge. I spent the rest of the summer holidays playing board and video games and cooking under my mother’s supervision. As the summer days slowly waned, a sense of nostalgia crept in. The memories and lessons from this summer vacation will continue to shape my journey as I return to the world of academics with renewed vigour and a heart full of gratitude. |

Summer Vacation Essay 500 words
Summer vacation is a much-awaited break from the mundane routines of school and study, a time of rejuvenation, exploration, and personal growth. It offers the perfect opportunity to unwind, reflect, and create lasting memories. This past summer, I didn’t just escape textbooks – I leapt into a journey of self-discovery and adventure! With a whoop of joy, I tossed my school bag aside and raced towards a coastal paradise. Imagine golden sands melting into a bright blue sea, the waves gently whispering their secrets. The tranquil rhythm lulled me into relaxation, a perfect setting for reflection and renewal. But summer wasn’t just about chilling on the beach. I hit the streets, wandering through charming towns with colourful houses. Historical sites whispered stories of the past, and friendly locals shared their way of life. Food became an exciting adventure as I devoured dishes bursting with unique flavours, a delicious mix of tradition and innovation. My taste buds were doing a happy dance! In between exploring, I reconnected with my family. We weren’t just hanging out – we were creating memories that would last a lifetime. We tackled lush hiking trails, feeling the wind whip through our hair. We spread out blankets in sun-dappled meadows for picnics, laughter echoing through the air. And every evening, we watched sunsets paint the sky in fiery orange and soft pink. These moments cemented the special bond we share, reminding me that family is the foundation of everything. Summer wasn’t just about fun and games, though. It was also a chance to grow. I dusted off hobbies that had been collecting cobwebs during the school year, like painting and playing music. The forgotten melodies sprang back to life under my fingers, and the colours on the canvas danced with renewed energy. Wanting to give back, I volunteered with a local organization. This wasn’t just about helping out on the contrary, it opened my eyes to amazing people and their stories. I learned so much from them, and the feeling of helping others filled me with a warm glow. As summer wound down, a tinge of sadness crept in. The days seemed to have flown by in a blur, leaving behind memories like seashells scattered on the shore. But this wasn’t just a physical journey – it was a journey within myself. I returned home with a deeper appreciation for the world’s beauty, the importance of family and friends, and the power of taking breaks to recharge. Summer vacation is more than just a break from school; it’s a transformative experience that encompasses relaxation, exploration, and growth. It’s a canvas upon which we paint our memories, our passions, and our connections. As I stepped back into the world of academics, I carried with me the lessons and experiences of this summer, ready to tackle new challenges and embrace the exciting opportunities that lie ahead. |

Summer Vacations allow us to learn new things, adopt new hobbies, and bring out our hidden talents. In this summer vacation, I went to the native village where my grandparents are residing and then I went on summer vacation which is organized by my college management. Summer Camp:
As my summer vacation started I was getting bored because my friends went to some other places with their parents and there was no one with me to spend my time with and to enjoy with them. So my parents noticed and suggested I join a Summer camp which was organized by the college management and it is a 15 days camp. As my parents suggested I got enrolled in the summer camp with not much interest. But came to learn many things in that summer camp, I indulged in so many activities and my summer camp gave me a chance to discover my talents.
I got up early in the morning at 6 o’clock and got ready to attend different activities. We had good expert trainers in the camp who taught different things each day with patience. I have learned martial arts which were very amusing and helpful. Further, I have attended classes in dancing, singing, and painting in the camp. On the last two days of the camp, we went to undavalli caves and Bhavani Island. The weather was so favorable so we enjoyed ourselves a lot and I have collected good memories from my camp.
My Homeland or My Grandparents Village:
During this summer vacation, the first thing I went to my grandparent’s village. My grandparents reside in my ancestral village and look after the Mangoes and guavas Garden. Due to academic obligations, I had not met them for 2 years. So I wanted to spend at least a couple of weeks with my grandparents, So I went with my family members and there we stayed for 20 days with my grandparents.
In my homeland, I met my childhood friends and relatives. My childhood friends are very lovable and caring. I visited childhood friends’ homes and spent more time with their family members prepared traditional and I had a memorable time with them. On pleasant mornings I had a long walk with my friends to visit fields, Mangoes, and guavas garden, at cool evenings we played traditional childhood games such as hide and seek, Gilli-danda, kho-kho, etc., all these games have been entertaining Indian village children for centuries and at night time we sat around our grandmother’s bed and listened to her mesmerizing stories and finally, I learned some delicious dishes from my grandmother.
Conclusion: In this Essay on How I Spent My Summer Vacation, I want to conclude that during this summer vacation I have spent my summer vacation getting closer to my parents, grandparents, childhood friends, and relatives which I was not able to do due to my academic obligations. - Key Points to Remember When Writing An Essay on Summer Vacation
- 10 Lines on Summer Vacation
- Paragraph On Summer Vacation
Short Essay On Summer Vacation
Long essay on summer vacation, what will your child learn while writing an essay on summer vacation.
Summer vacations are every student’s favourite time of the year. Children eagerly wait for months for their summer vacation to start and do all the fun things they have planned with their friends, siblings and families. It is the school term’s longest vacation of the year, so students enjoy a good break from their daily routine. They can sleep late, spend more time playing with their friends, go on holidays with their family or use the time to learn something new. While they get a break from the regular classes, students get homework from their teachers to be completed during the holidays. A commonly assigned holiday homework is to write an essay on summer vacation. While older kids may find it easy to write on this subject, younger children of classes 1, 2 and 3 may find it tricky to express themselves on pen and paper.
Here are some samples of summer vacation essays in English that will help young kids write this essay independently.
Key Points to Remember When Writing An Essay on Summer Vacation
Before children start writing about their summer vacation, they should know what to include in the essay. Here are some ideas that will help them in the assignment:
- Describe what summer vacation means for you.
- List the reasons why you like it.
- Write about the activities you did in your summer vacation.
- Write about the places you visited during your summer break.
- Write about the people you met during your summer vacation.
10 Lines on Summer Vacation
Younger children may find it easier to compose an essay by breaking it into simple sentences. They can start by writing their ideas in individual sentences and then sequentially arranging them to form a complete paragraph. Here is an example of how to write a summer vacation essay in 10 lines:
- Summer vacations are my favourite time of the year as I can do all the things I enjoy during these days.
- During these holidays, I get a chance to learn new hobbies like painting, dancing or gardening and spend more time with my friends.
- During my summer vacations, I visit my grandparents, who live in a village.
- All my cousins visit my grandparents during the summer holidays and together, we have a lot of fun!
- My grandparents have a beautiful garden, and they teach us gardening.
- My grandmother is an excellent cook and makes lots of delicious dishes for us every day.
- In the evening, all of us cousins listen to stories from our grandmother.
- We play many games like carrom, hide-and-seek and ludo.
- We also paint, draw and do our summer homework during the afternoons.
- Every year I enjoy my summer holidays with my cousins and grandparents.
Paragraph On Summer Vacation
Small paragraphs are a great way to teach kids how to communicate their thoughts concisely. Here is an example of how you can write a ‘my summer vacation’ paragraph:
Summer vacation is a highly anticipated time for many people, especially students. After a long and often stressful school year, summer offers a welcome break to relax, recharge, and enjoy the warmer weather. During this time, people can take trips, spend time outdoors, participate in fun activities, and create lasting memories with family and friends. Whether it’s a week-long getaway, a day at the beach, or simply lounging in the backyard, summer vacation provides a chance to step away from the daily grind and embrace the carefree spirit of the season. For many, this seasonal break is a cherished time to rejuvenate the mind and body before returning to the responsibilities of the next academic or work year.
Writing a short paragraph about summer vacation in English can be daunting for students of lower primary classes. They are still learning to form sentences, so expressing their views in a section may be difficult. This short summer vacation essay sample will help them through the assignment:
Summer vacations are my favourite time of year because I get to do all the activities I enjoy. During these vacations, I also get the opportunity to learn new things and spend more time with my friends. I visit my grandparents during my summer vacations, who live in a far-off village. During the summer holidays, all of my cousins visit my grandparents, and we have a lot of fun together. My grandparents have a lovely garden, and they teach us how to plant saplings and water the plants. My grandma is a fantastic cook who prepares various delectable dishes for us daily. All of us cousins gather to listen to our grandmother’s stories in the evenings. During the day, we play games like carrom, hide-and-seek, and ludo. All this fun makes summer vacation my most enjoyable time of the year.
Students in grade 3 are adept at writing sentences. However, they may still find it challenging to write a descriptive essay about ‘ M y S ummer V acation. ’ Here is a sample essay on summer vacation class 3 students:
Advantages of Summer Vacation
Summer vacations are the happiest time for all students. During this time, they get freedom from getting up early for school and doing homework. They also get to sleep late and wake up late with no classes to attend in the morning. Summer vacation starts just after commencing a new grade or after the final exams, making it the perfect time for students to relax after loads of studying. So, it’s no wonder every student anticipates summer vacations every year.
Most of us have elaborate plans on how we will spend our vacations. Some kids plan to go on holidays with their families, while some take up new hobbies or visit their grandparents or relatives they can’t meet during school days. And some kids get to do all of these things during their summer vacations.
My Summer Vacation
I am one such lucky kid as my parents take me to visit my grandparents’ house in the village every summer vacation. There, I get to meet my cousins, uncles and aunts. Together we all spend a few days enjoying relaxed village life.
During the day, I play many games with my cousins, and we complete our school holiday homework. In the evenings, we help our grandfather in the garden. We water the plants and learn to plant new saplings. At night, my grandmother tells us interesting stories. She is also an excellent cook. We all get to enjoy her delicious dishes daily. My aunt is a good painter. Every year, she teaches drawing and painting to all of us kids. We also go to a nearby dance school to learn dancing.
After spending a few days with my grandparents and cousins, my parents take me on holiday. Every year, we visit different tourist places, and this year, we plan to go to Goa and spend a few days enjoying the sun, sand and the sea . We plan on exploring the lush waters while trying out some fun new water sports and activities. We also want to walk around old Goa, taking in the architecture and natural beauty and shop from street vendors. We usually return home a few days before the summer vacation ends. I use that tim e to complete my school work and prepare my books for the school reopening. I also spend time playing with my neighbourhood friends in the evening. We all enjoy playing cricket in the colony playground.
Places To Visit During Summer Vacation
Here are some of my favourite places to visit during summer vacation:
- Goa: Known for its beautiful beaches, water sports, and vibrant culture, Goa is an ideal destination to enjoy the summer sun.
- Mysore: Mysore is a city in Karnataka famous for its palaces, temples, and wildlife sanctuaries.
- Darjeeling: Darjeeling is a hill station in West Bengal, famous for its tea plantations and toy train.
- Kerala: The Kerala backwaters are a network of waterways that offer kids a unique experience.
- Andaman And Nicobar Islands: The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are a tropical paradise known for their pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and rich marine biodiversity.

How I Spent My Summer Vacation Essay | 500+ Words Essay
July 10, 2020 by Sandeep
Below we have provided a sample essay on How I Spent My Summer Vacation, written in easy and simple words for class 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 students.
Essay on How I Spent My Summer Vacation 500 Words in English
Every student looks forward to the summer holidays – waiting for school or college to end so that they can stay home and not worry about piles of homework or nagging teachers. Everybody needs a break from routine, and the summer months are the perfect time for that. Apart from freedom, every student loves the summer break because it allows us to relax in the scorching weather.
Moreover, the summer break is long enough for anyone to try something new or continue pursuing their hobbies. Some people also like to travel during their summer break, either to visit relatives or to visit foreign countries and cities. While I do enjoy travelling a lot, unfortunately, I had to spend my last summer vacation at home because I had to wait for the exam results. Nevertheless, I did have an eventful summer vacation!
Learning Piano
I took some time out this summer vacation to learn a new song on the piano. I’ve been playing the piano ever since I was a child, but there have been points when I’ve fallen out of practice. Due to that, I was determined to learn at least one new song in the summer, which I did.
The song I chose to learn was The Truth Untold by the worldwide sensation Korean group BTS . This is because BTS are my role models to work hard and to continue learning more about the world and myself.
Their songs are filled with thoughtful messages of self-love and compassion towards others, and they also sing about several issues pertinent to the youth, such as mental health. I wanted to learn a BTS song because their songs mean a lot to me, and I knew that if I mastered a BTS song on the piano, I would feel rather proud of myself.
The Truth Untold is a primarily piano-based song, so I had plenty to learn from it. It’s a very sad, heartbreaking song about hiding behind a mask and being too afraid to show your real self to the people you love, hurting them and yourself in the process. As a poet, I find this song to be beautifully written and extremely touching, so learning it was a wonderful experience.
Spending Time With My Brother
Since exams were finally done, I wanted to do something I didn’t get to do because I was so busy- get out of my room and spend some time with my little brother. He’s very kind and understanding, so he never nags me when I’m studying. Nevertheless, I felt bad for leaving him so bored with not much to do.
I spent most of my summer days playing or chatting with my brother. When we talk, we never stick to just one topic. He likes to stay updated on what is happening around the world, especially in terms of technology.
Because my brother always tries to be open-minded, he is also a good person to have a conversation with when it comes to discussing serious issues. This also helps me teach him more about some things that he might be confused or misinformed about.
We both love playing video games, so last summer was an opportunity for us to play plenty of Fortnite. We hardly ever play against each other though- it’s a lot more fun to work together. We do, however, play against each other when playing sports games on console, because they incite more competitive energy from both of us.
Waiting for Exam Results
While I did have some great moments in my summer holidays, most of it was filled with tension because I was going to get my final results soon. I was very nervous, and because of that, it was difficult to completely enjoy not having to go to school anymore.
Waiting for your exam results is always a painful and nerve-wracking experience. Sometimes you may want your results to arrive right away so that you can get it over with, and sometimes you don’t want them to arrive at all because you’re too scared to see them.
I regret having wasted so much time just worrying when I could’ve been trying new things or reading more books. When the results finally came, all the worrying felt utterly useless, because it’s not like it would have changed the answers I wrote on my papers. If I could’ve done something differently, I would’ve tried harder not to be so tense and to assure myself that I would end up happy no matter what my marks were.

How to Write a Summer Vacation Essay
Summer break is a great time to kick back, relax and enjoy yourself and, if you’re lucky, to go on an awesome trip! But how can you translate your amazing vacation into a narrative essay for English class or work it to fit a common application prompt? Here’s some tips to help you out:
Save Mementos From Your Summer
Even if you’re not the sentimental type, make sure to document your summer travels. Take pictures, write diary entries, save train stubs. This is the best way to ensure that you’ll remember your summer well enough to look back and write about it later.
Write an Outline Before Writing Your Essay
Regardless of whether you spent your summer break in Madison, Wisconsin or Madrid, Spain, you should plan out what you’re going to write before diving in. Make a list of what you’ve done over the summer so that you can later narrow down a focus for the essay itself. Keep in mind that the best essay topics aren’t always on the most exciting activities an essay about getting stuck in traffic on the way to the airport on the way to Denver could work better than an essay on hiking the Grand Canyon and looking out at the incredible view.
Be Specific
Since you’re going to keep a record of your trip and come up with an outline before writing your essay, you should be able to put some detail into your essay. Be as specific as possible when it comes to your word choice. If you’re talking about some gelato that you ate in Italy, don’t say that it was “delicious.” Instead, say that it was “creamy and chocolatey, with a note of vanilla.”
Focus on Feelings About Your Trip, Not What You Did
If you spent the summer on the beach in Cape Cod, you shouldn’t write about what you did. You should write instead about how you felt while there. An essay that reads “I went to beach, then had lobster for dinner” is not quite as exciting as one that goes, “As I went for a walk on the beach, I thought about how lucky I was to be able to enjoy nature.” Feelings translate better into text than events, and you should try to place those feelings into context.
Stick to Writing About a Small Moment
With any essay you write especially a short one it’s important to focus a narrow moment in time. Don’t write about your entire week in Paris. Instead, write about the moment you got lost in the city at midnight and fumbled your way home in the dark. You don’t have to pick a particularly glamorous moment from your trip, but you should pick one that meant something to you.
Edit Your Essay Carefully
The shorter the essay, the more important precision is. Regardless of length, make sure to carefully read over what you’ve written to make sure every sentence conveys the message you most want displayed. The editing process matters just as much as the writing process, even if it seems less so.

Essay 1 (250 Words) – I Spent My Summer Vacation in Learning Guitar
Introduction
Every year before the final exams get over, I like to plan for the things I would be doing during the summer vacation. Gone summer vacations, I made a couple of commitments to myself and I am more than happy that I stuck to them.
I Spent My Summer Vacation – Learning Guitar
I had always wanted to play guitar. The instrument has always caught my fancy and is something that I had always wanted to own. After the exams, I requested my father for buying me a guitar which he very pleasingly accepted. Next, I joined a music class; fortunately, there was a music teacher in the same locality I live. Every single day of my vacation, I walked to the music class to learn guitar. Not a single class I missed. I must confess that playing guitar professionally isn’t easy; nevertheless, I enjoyed it as it was a passion.
Preparing in Advance
Apart from playing guitar I also prepared for the coming academic session. I had already purchased the books in advance and studied for a couple of hours every day. Though there was no compulsion on when to study, I preferred anytime during the noon as it was mostly quite. I planned it in such a way that I get some time to play after the music class.
Summer vacations are a part of the school schedule. Vacations will come every year, what’s important is how you spend them. The more usefully you spend your vacations, the more happy and content you would be.
Essay 2 (400 Words) – I Spent My Summer Vacation Visiting My Native Village
All of us spend summer vacations doing what we love the most. Some like to simply play at home while others prefer stepping out from the confines of their homes. I belong to the second type. I spent my last summer vacation in my native village and am more than happy that I did.
I Spent My Summer Vacation – Visiting My Native Village
My native village is quite a distance from the city. It is a five-hour journey by train through village landscapes. My grandparents stay there and my grandfather takes care of the fields and produces. I was ever excited to visit my village for more than one reason. The air is clean and the whole environment is so much relaxed in the villages that makes you slip immediately into the comfort zone.
I spent most of the time, visiting fields with my grandfather and learning from him about crops and the seasons they are produced in. I also played a lot with my village friends. It was routine every night to listen to a story from my grandmother and sink to sleep.
Meeting Old Friends and Making New Ones
Whenever I am in the village, I spare no time to meet my old friends. After reaching the village, and meeting my grandparents, I immediately set out to gather old friends. They knew about my arrival through word and mouth and were expecting me anytime. It was so good to see them after so long time. The best part was they were also having summer holidays, which meant that we could play for as much long as we want.
It was real fun to play with old friends. As it was the holiday season, some of my friends’ cousins were also there which gave me an opportunity to make new friends. When we got tired of playing, we chatted about our life and school. This conversation that we made helped me a lot in understanding the problems faced by my village friends. I hope that someday I will be able to help them and be a true friend. I also met the parents of my friends and was overwhelmed by the love that I got.
Visiting my village to spend the summer vacation was the best decision that I made and I am glad that I took it. I not only spent my vacation happily but also made new memories. It was a wonderful experience and had me feeling content at last.

Last summer vacation, I had gone on a school trip to a distant historical monument, around 700 Km from the city. We started early as we had an early morning train to catch. It was a complete seven days trip away from home.
I remember that it was six in the morning when the school bus came to pick me up. It seemed that the entire world was still in sleep, but inside the bus, a completely different environment was witnessed. Everyone was fully awake and happy as well as excited. Nothing could beat the feeling of exams getting over and the vacations started. The trip was an additional bonus of happiness for everyone.
All of my classmates were present on the bus as well as a couple of teachers, including my class teacher. The teachers were chatting among themselves and the children were singing, chatting and laughing. All in all, it was a sight to behold and also the happiest moment I have had in months. Soon we reached the railway station and boarded the train.
Learning and Fulfilling Experience
A little before dusk we reached the place. Our teachers have already booked the rooms in a comfortable hotel, so we headed for the hotel as soon as we deboarded the train. The next morning we were off to the sightseeing. It was a big palace built around the 19th century by a King. The design of the palace as viewed from outside was breathtaking. Every part of it was screaming about the craftsmanship that was involved in building such a beautiful piece of art.
On the inside, the architecture was even more beautiful. To this day I very clearly remember every detail of the glass ceiling, the paintings and the large doors and windows. It was in all respect a King’s palace. We hired a guide as soon as we landed there. The guide was very experienced and learned. He told us about every detail, regarding the place and patiently answered all our questions.
After going through the palace I was feeling very happy and contended. It was probably the same feeling that you get when you learn something new. As if I had solved a puzzle or scored well in a test. I guess it was because I learned so much about the history of that place and the people who built it.
Lots of Fun and Enjoyment
The trip was great fun as after the tour of the place we were overwhelmed with good memories. We also played in its exceptionally large garden of the hotel. I love outdoor games and it was a pleasure to play with my classmates on bright sunny days. We played kho-kho and other games. We even had a sprint race and other competitions each day. Though I didn’t score in any game, nevertheless, it was fun to be a part of it.
After the games or the tour every day we sat together for lunch. Everyone was sharing food with everyone and it was a really good experience. We also took care not to dirty the place and dispose of every leftover or garbage in the dustbins. All the seven days of the school trip we visited a new place and enhanced our joy and knowledge.
Though the summer vacation was longer, the school trip is by far the most remarkable thing that I did during that period. I love the summer holidays and I have also the satisfaction of saying that I had spent my holiday in a fruitful and contending way. I learned and played with my classmates and in the supervision of respected teachers.

The first £1 coins featuring King Charles have entered circulation, with collectors encouraged to look out for the historic addition to the nation's change.
Nearly three million of the new designs will be making their way into pockets and tills across the country this week, via Post Offices and banks throughout the UK.
The £1 coin has a pair of British bees on the "tails" side, in honour of the King's passion for conservation and the natural world, and Charles' official coin effigy on the obverse, or "heads".
The other designs, which will be introduced in line with demand, are the 1p showing a hazel dormouse, the 2p red squirrel, the 5p oak tree leaf, 10p capercaillie grouse, 20p puffin, and the £2 with the national flowers - rose, daffodil, thistle and shamrock.
Giving workers the "right to switch off" is key to productivity and could boost economic growth, Downing Street has said.
Labour has promised to give employees the right to ignore work-related calls and emails out of hours, so homes do not become "24/7 offices".
Ministers are looking at models in other countries where there is already a right to disconnect, such as Ireland and Belgium.
The prime minister's spokesperson said the plan was about making sure "we're not inadvertently blurring the lines between work and home life".
The plans were not a "one size fits all" and would recognise companies vary and people have different roles, she added.
The number of firms in England and Wales going bust last month rose by 16% year-on-year, according to official figures.
Commentators said the 2,191 company insolvencies showed how many businesses were still recovering from the impact of high inflation and borrowing costs, despite growing optimism about the UK's economic outlook.
The figure was 7% down on June's total, but insolvency levels remain much higher than those seen during both the pandemic and in the years following the 2008/09 financial crisis, officials said.
Rebecca Dacre, a partner at advisory firm Forvis Mazars, said the data was "a strong reminder that many businesses are still a long way off from recovery".

BT's share price has fallen, wiping off an estimated £1bn from the company's value.
One share now costs £134.45, a low last seen 10 days ago.
It comes after an internet network rival CityFibre struck a deal with broadband supplier Sky.
This means that Sky will now use CityFibre's network to offer its services starting next year.
It's a hit to BT as Sky customers are hosted on BT's Openreach network. Under the plan, Sky aims to connect so-called "hard-to-reach areas".
CityFibre reaches 3.8 million homes and aims to expand and reach "at least" 8 million premises in the coming years, it said.
"This partnership with Sky is a huge vote of confidence in our business and has cemented CityFibre's position as the UK's third digital infrastructure platform," said company chief executive Greg Mesch.
Formerly British Telecoms, BT is worth roughly £14.44bn, based on the number of shares issued and the share price.
The head of financial analysis at investment platform AJ Bell Danni Hewson said the CityFibre detail may not be that significant.
"BT shares came under pressure on fears of an enhanced competitive threat for its Openreach broadband operation amid chatter Sky might start partnering with CityFibre in 2025.
"However, CityFibre's modest scale and focus on rural areas suggest it shouldn't be a huge issue."
Sky is the owner of Sky News.
UK citizens will need to pay a €7 visa-waiver charge to travel to Europe from next year after the EU revealed its timeline for the introduction of new entry requirements for some visitors.
The additional charge, which is similar to the US ESTA, is part of a series of new border checks and entry requirements the EU is bringing in.
They'll apply when entering the Schengen area, which includes 27 EU member states, plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.
The waiver will last for three years or until your passport expires.
Its official title is the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS), and its implementation will follow the introduction of the EU Entry/Exit System (EES). The latter will require people to have their fingerprints registered and their pictures taken on arrival to airports.
Addressing the rollout, EU home affairs commissioner Ylva Johansson said the EES will enter into operations on 10 November while the ETIAS will follow shortly after that in 2025 - likely May.
However, it is thought there could be a six-month grace period before the visas become compulsory - taking it to November next year.

The price of gold has soared to a record high of more than $2,522 (£1,938) per ounce today.
It comes after months of the precious metal steadily rising in value.
Many factors are thought to have played a part, but analysts believe the latest leap is largely down to the weaker US dollar and growing expectations that the US Federal Reserve will cut interest rates next month.
Lower rates tend to make a country - and its currency - less attractive to investors, because they end up getting lower returns on bonds, shares and other investments.
There are also general worries about the status of the US economy, amid rumblings it could enter a recession this year or next - although some commentators have downplayed the likelihood of this.
But it is not just the US that is on the cusp of reducing the cost of borrowing.
The European Central Bank and the Bank of England both recently cut interest rates - and are expected to do so again this autumn - which may also be off-putting to some investors.
What has all this got to do with gold?
It's largely because of its perceived status as a "safe haven" investment.
Gold is seen as solid and dependable - both literally and in its value as a commodity.
It has been prized and sought after since ancient times - and its valuable status seems certain to continue long into the future.
So when things seem uncertain - and when interest rates are being seemingly cut everywhere - putting your money in gold may seem like a good bet (or so the thinking goes - of course, many would argue there is no such thing as a sure bet in the financial markets).
This "safe haven" status also helps explain why the price of gold may have been steadily rising in recent months, as fears have grown over an escalation of the wars in the Middle East and between Russia and Ukraine.
Tesco is hiking the price of its meal deal from Thursday.
Those using a Clubcard, which Tesco says is 80% of customers, will now pay £3.60.
This is up from £3.40, which had been the cheapest meal deal available at one of the traditional supermarkets.
Those without a Clubcard will now pay £4 - up 10p.
A Tesco spokesperson told the Money blog: "Clubcard members will pay just £3.60 for a main, snack and drink, meaning our meal deal remains great value and the ideal way to grab lunch on-the-go.
"With millions of possible combinations across our stores, our recent improvements to ingredients and more than 20 new mains introduced this summer, the Tesco meal deal has got something for every taste."
The cost of the premium meal deal is unchanged at £5.
How does this compare?
Waitrose has the most expensive meal deal at £5 for the main, snack and drink combo.
In July, Sainsbury increased the cost of its lunchtime meal deal by 25p from £3.50 to £3.75.
A Morrisons meal deal costs £3.50, which is the same as Co-op members - though non-members pay £4.
Asda doesn't offer a fixed price for its meal deal. Instead, it operates a 3 for 2 system, which gives customers the cheapest item for free.
If you read the Money blog on Friday you'll remember Gail's bakery chain came under fire for repurposing unsold pastries into croissants and selling them for almost £4 the next day.
We reported how the retailer lists the "twice baked" chocolate almond croissants as part of its "Waste Not" range, which means it is made using leftover croissants that are then "topped with almond frangipane and flaked almonds".
The scheme was criticised online, with many pointing out the £3.90 price tag is 95p more than the original croissant.
It's worth reiterating that the practice was not invented by Gail's - almond croissants were originally created by French boulangeries to reuse day-old croissants and stop them going stale.
We asked Gail's for comment and didn't hear back until late yesterday - this is what they said...
"We created our Waste Not range at Gail's to make good food go further.
"Our almond croissants and chocolate and almond croissants are strong favourites in our bakeries. The croissants are soaked in demerara syrup and topped with our house-made frangipane spread, alongside crunchy almonds.
"The day-old croissants are sturdier than fresh ones, making them the perfect bake to be used.
"We are big supporters of improving food systems, working with companies such as Too Good To Go and Neighbourly to reduce our impact on food waste and uplift communities.
"Any bakes leftover at the end of the day are shared with charitable organisations in our neighbourhoods. Through our partnership with Neighbourly, we have donated the equivalent of 81,000 meals, reaching 239 good causes."
It comes as locals in a trendy London neighbourhood signed a petition against a Gail's bakery setting up shop in their area.
After (unconfirmed) rumours began circulating that the chain was looking to open a site in Walthamstow village, more than 600 have signed a petition opposing the plans.
The petition says the village "faces a threat to its uniqueness" should Gail's move into the area.

Basically, Section 75 is a way to get your money back if a retailer hasn't provided the goods or services you paid for - so long as you used a credit card or point of sale loan.
The price of the purchase must be between £100.01 and £30,000, but you only have to spend one penny of it using a credit card for your rights to kick in.
Section 75 is enshrined in law - the Consumer Credit Act 1974 - and allows you to raise a claim with your bank for a breach of contract or misrepresentation by the retailer.
The protection was put in place to make sure customers are not forced to pay off debt for faulty goods and services - or those that never arrive - by making the lender just as liable as the retailer.
When does Section 75 apply?
- Goods or services were not as described
- They were poor quality, defective, or not fit for purpose
- An item never arrived - including if the seller went bust
- A service wasn't carried out with reasonable care
How does it work?
You should contact your bank, who will investigate how you made your purchase and who was involved.
There needs to be a clear agreement between the customer, the supplier and your bank.
"They will ask for more details – explain how your consumer rights have been breached, you have exhausted all options with the retailer and cannot resolve your dispute," consumer champion Scott Dixon, from the Complaints Resolver , told the Money blog.
"You need to push hard on S75 claims, as claims are often rejected on the first attempt."
It is useful to have supporting information to hand, like proof of payment, contracts, terms and conditions, screenshots of product descriptions, correspondence, photo evidence or - in some cases - independent assessments.
Scott added: "If you reach a stalemate with the credit card provider or finance company, ask for a deadlock letter setting out their final position so you can submit a formal complaint (with the final response/deadlock letter) to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).
"They do not like cases being referred to the FOS as it costs them money."
When doesn't Section 75 apply?
- You paid with a debit card, charge card, cash, credit card cheque, or bank transfer;
- You paid with your PayPal balance (but you are protected if you used PayPal Credit);
- The credit was given under an overdraft or general-purpose bank loan;
- You purchased multiple items that only cost between £100.01 and £30,000 when added together;
- You bought the item from a third-party seller, like Amazon Marketplace or a travel agent;
- You used a buy now, pay later service or a hire purchase.

Rising optimism about the prospects of a ceasefire in the war in Gaza has sent the price of oil - and shares in energy giants – tumbling.
The cost of a barrel of benchmark Brent Crude has dropped to just over $76 (£58), the lowest price since the beginning of the month.
Shares in Shell and BP have also both slipped by around 2% in early trading.
Hopes of cooling tensions in the Middle East have helped ease fears of risks to supplies in the region.
Other factors said to be having an impact on oil prices include an increase in production at Libya's Sharara oilfield and concerns over China's slowing economy, including slower industrial output.
Another big faller this morning is BT Group. Its shares are down more than 5% after it was announced that Sky will launch full fibre broadband services next year on the network of BT's rival Cityfibre.
The falls have contributed to the FTSE 100 dipping by more than 0.5% on Tuesday, with the FTSE 250 also down 0.13%.
Gainers include easyJet Plc, which is up more than 1.2% amid optimism over the tourism industry this summer.
Similarly, Intercontinental Hotels Group is up by a similar level, while British Airways owner IAG is up nearly 0.8%.
Meanwhile, on the currency markets, this morning £1 buys $1.30 US or €1.17.
Pensioners are being urged to check if they are eligible for the winter fuel allowance after universal payments were scrapped by new Chancellor Rachel Reeves last month.
Previously, the money was available to everyone above state pension age, but now it will be limited to people over state pension age who are receiving pension credit or other means-tested support.
It means the number of people entitled to the money will drop from 11.4 million to just 1.5 million.
The payment is £200 for households where the recipients are all under 80, and £300 where they are over 80.
While around 1.4 million pensioners are already receiving pension credit, there are up to an estimated 880,000 households eligible for the support who are yet to claim, the Department for Work and Pensions says.
The government's awareness drive will help identify households not claiming the benefit, and encourage pensioners to apply by 21 December - the last date for making a backdated claim for pension credit in order to receive the Winter Fuel Payment.
It will focus on "myths" that may stop people applying, such as how having savings, a pension or owning a home are not necessarily barriers to receiving pension credit.
More information on applying for pension credit can be found on the government's How to Claim page .
Yesterday we brought you the unwelcome news that winter energy bills are projected to rise by 9%, according to the latest forecast from Cornwall Insight.
Its newest prediction says the price cap from October to December will go up to £1,714 a year for the average user - a £146 hike from current levels.
We'll find out for sure on Friday.
Comparison service Uswitch says the forecast "compounds the worry" about rising bills for residents across the country "just as we reach the season to switch the heating back on".
"The price cap is expected to rise again in January, but bill payers can take action now to lock in certainty on how much they pay," says Uswitch director of regulation Richard Neudegg.
It is worth pointing out that it's in Uswitch's favour for people to move - but there are definitely savings to be made based on current forecasts.
Here are the top 10 fixed energy-only tariffs that could help you beat the price rise as temperatures drop, according to Uswitch:

By Sarah Taaffe-Maguire, business reporter. BT's share price has fallen, wiping off an estimated £1bn from the company's value. One share now costs £134.45, a low last seen 10 days ago.
High wages can be inflationary (1/ people have more to spend, 2/ employers might raise prices to cover staff costs), so any easing will only aid the case for a less restrictive monetary policy.
