POSITION SUMMARY :

The Applications Analyst III is a senior business specialist and technology generalist responsible for aligning technology solutions with business strategies. The Applications Analyst III is responsible for proactively identifying opportunities to apply technologies to business processes by informing and advising customers on information system technologies' functionality, costs, benefits, and implementation requirements. The Applications Analyst III functions as technical liaison and broker of services with various vendors.. The Applications Analyst III acts as internal consultant, providing technical guidance or business process expertise on the most complex projects or researching strategic planning matters from a technical or business standpoint. Must be competent to perform and integrate work at a high level within this job family and work at an in-depth level within the technical and clinical areas.

Associate's degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred

EXPERIENCE:

At least 3 -5 years of experience in either of the following:

  • Business application design, development, and installation, or
  • Significant healthcare background with demonstrated abilities in the applications arena.

Additional experience desired:

  • Previous experience in business process re-engineering or process improvement is desirable, involving broad-based information systems and utilizing tools and techniques to effect business change.
  • Experience in the strategic use of technology in managing and growing a business.
  • Experience in organizing, planning, and executing large-scale projects from vision through implementation, involving internal personnel, contractors, and vendors.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • CoPath experience preferred
  • Knowledge of the assigned business area's products and processes.
  • Strong technical knowledge and ability to express complex technical concepts in terms that is understandable to the business.
  • Strong understanding of project management concepts and documentation in planning and implementing multiple projects in a cross functional environment.
  • Strong written communication skills, including technical writing.
  • Strong verbal communication skills across all levels and departments within the organization
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills; a demonstrated track record in new concept development for various projects and complex technical plans.
  • Ability to solve problems often spanning multiple environments in a business area
  • Efficiently manage time to provide a high level of output
  • Understanding of how IT affects an organization and ability to link it to redesigned business process
  • Ability to be a team player; flexible, friendly, congenial, and enthusiastic.
  • HL7 knowledge is a plus

Business Intelligence Analyst Intermediate - Health Plan Analytics (Work from home)

Job summary.

This individual contributor role will join Geisinger’s Health Plan Analytics Team, supporting all operational and clinical analytics for Geisinger Health Plan. Geisinger Health Plan is a 550,000-member health plan, part of Geisinger’s integrated health system founded more than 100 years ago by Abigail Geisinger and committed to making better health easier for the more than 1 million people it serves. In addition to the health plan, the system includes nine hospital campuses, two research centers and the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine. The role will join our Operational team within Health Plan Analytics performing analyses to enable provider partnerships and surface actionable insights regarding our members. We execute creative data analytic approaches, interpreting data analyses, and develop visualizations that enable informed business decisions.

  • Gathers requirements and defines scope independently on small and medium sized projects.
  • Requires support of a senior analyst for large projects.
  • Assists in project plan and time and effort estimations.
  • Will also produce project plans and estimates with required sign off by senior resources.
  • Building the skillset and awareness on data project work - shadowing and reviewing solution architecture to learn data components.
  • Determines data needed and profile to establish quality and appropriateness.
  • Recognize show to transform the data set to establish what is needed for next stage BI and reporting.
  • Develop an understanding of how to be able to deliver clear requirements for requests to perform ETL from other team members but working with a senior to do this when appropriate.
  • Building the comfort in delivering powerful stories with data both in the solutions built as well as the approach for delivery.
  • Responsible for following data governance and stewardship practices as defined.
  • Performing documentation and discovery associated with these initiatives.
  • Identifying data quality issues while performing data profiling and testing and validation.

  • Customer-facing experience participating in visual design discussions and gathering business requirements of customers
  • Interest in developing strong customer relationships through regular interaction and partnership with Geisinger Health Plan stakeholders
  • Strengths in transforming, improving, and integrating complex data into intuitive visualizations based on   specific   business requirements;
  • Familiarity with industry standard visualization tools (i.e. Tableau, SAP Business Objects)
