కొన్నాళ్లుగా వ‌రుస ప‌రాజ‌యాల‌తో స‌త‌మ‌త‌మ‌వుతోంది హిందీ చిత్ర‌సీమ‌. అగ్ర తార‌లు న‌టించిన సినిమాలు కూడా ఏమాత్రం ప్రేక్ష‌కుల్ని ప్ర‌భావితం చేయ‌లేక‌పోతున్నాయి. ఈ ద‌శ‌లో ఆమిర్‌ ఖాన్ ( Aamir Khan ) న‌టించిన ‘లాల్‌సింగ్ చ‌డ్డా’ (Lal Singh Chaddha) ప్రేక్ష‌కుల ముందుకు రావ‌డంతో అంద‌రి దృష్టీ ఈ సినిమాపైకే వెళ్లింది. నాలుగేళ్ల త‌ర్వాత ఆమిర్‌ ఖాన్ న‌టించిన చిత్రం కావ‌డం... ఆస్కార్ పుర‌స్కారం సొంతం చేసుకున్న ‘ఫారెస్ట్ గంప్‌’కి (Forrest Gump) రీమేక్‌గా రూపొంద‌డం... ప్ర‌చార చిత్రాలు ఆస‌క్తిని రేకెత్తించ‌డం ఈ సినిమాపై మ‌రిన్ని అంచ‌నాల్ని పెంచాయి. పాన్ ఇండియా ట్రెండ్‌కి త‌గ్గ‌ట్టుగానే ఆమిర్‌ ఖాన్ తెలివిగా ఈ సినిమాని ప‌లు భాష‌ల్లో విడుద‌ల చేశారు. ప్రాంతీయ భాష‌ల్లో అగ్ర తార‌ల్ని ఇందులో భాగం చేస్తూ ఈ సినిమాని ప్రేక్ష‌కుల ముందుకు తీసుకొచ్చారు. తెలుగులో అగ్ర క‌థానాయ‌కుడు చిరంజీవి ( Chiranjeevi ) ఈ చిత్రానికి స‌మ‌ర్ప‌కులుగా వ్య‌వ‌హ‌రించారు. మ‌రి చిత్రం ఎలా ఉందో తెలుసుకునే ముందు క‌థేమిటో చూద్దాం...

క‌థేంటంటే?

లాల్‌సింగ్ చ‌డ్డా (ఆమిర్‌ ఖాన్‌) కుటుంబంలో తాత ముత్తాత‌లంతా ఆర్మీలో ప‌నిచేసిన‌వాళ్లే. లాల్ కూడా ఆర్మీలో ప‌నిచేయ‌డ‌మే త‌న త‌ల్లికి ఇష్టం. కానీ, చిన్న‌ప్ప‌ట్నుంచి బ‌ల‌హీనుడిలా, నెమ్మ‌దైన కుర్రాడిలా క‌నిపించే లాల్‌కి ఒక‌రిని చంప‌డ‌మంటే ఇష్టం ఉండ‌దు. జీవితంలో అద్భుతాలు జ‌రుగుతుంటాయంటారు క‌దా, అలా రూప (క‌రీనా క‌పూర్‌) (Kareena Kapoor Khan) త‌న జీవితంలోకి రావ‌డం, ఆ త‌ర్వాత మ‌రికొన్ని అద్భుతాలు చోటు చేసుకోవ‌డంతో అత‌ను మామూలు కుర్రాడిగా మారి, ఆ త‌ర్వాత త‌ల్లి క‌ల‌లకి త‌గ్గ‌ట్టే ఆర్మీలో చేర‌తాడు. అక్క‌డే తోటి సిపాయి అయిన బాల‌రాజు (నాగ‌చైత‌న్య‌) ( Naga Chaitanya ) ప‌రిచ‌యం అవుతాడు. బాల‌రాజు కుటుంబానికీ ఓ చ‌రిత్ర ఉంది. బ‌నియ‌న్లు, డ్రాయ‌ర్లు త‌యారు చేసే కుటుంబం వాళ్ల‌ది. ఎప్ప‌టికైనా త‌న తాత ముత్తాత‌ల్లా బ‌నియ‌న్లు డ్రాయ‌ర్లు త‌యారు చేసే కంపెనీని ఏర్పాటు చేయాల‌ని క‌ల‌లు కంటుంటాడు. లాల్‌, బాల ఇద్ద‌రూ ఆర్మీ నుంచి బ‌య‌టికెళ్లాక క‌లిసి బ‌నియ‌న్లు, డ్రాయ‌ర్ల వ్యాపారం చేయాల‌నుకుంటారు. మ‌రి జీవితం ఆ ఇద్ద‌రినీ ఎక్క‌డి వ‌ర‌కు తీసుకెళ్లింది? చిన్న‌ప్పుడు త‌న ప్రాణానికి ప్రాణంగా ప్రేమించిన రూప‌తో లాల్ జీవితాన్ని పంచుకున్నాడా లేదా? అనేది మిగ‌తా క‌థ‌.

ఎలా ఉందంటే?

భావోద్వేగాల స‌మ్మిళితం ఈ సినిమా. విధి జీవితాల్ని ఎలా ప్ర‌భావితం చేస్తుందో ఓ ఈక‌తో పోలుస్తూ అందంగా చెప్పే ప్ర‌య‌త్నం చేశాడు ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు అద్వైత్ చంద‌న్‌. కాక‌పోతే మ‌రీ సుదీర్ఘంగా సాగుతుంది సినిమా. తెరపై ఆమిర్‌ ఖాన్ నాలుగేళ్లు ప‌రుగుపెట్టి ఎలా అల‌సిపోతాడో, ఈ సినిమా చూశాక ప్రేక్ష‌కుడికి కూడా ఇంచు మించు అదే అనుభవం క‌లుగుతుంది. 90వ ద‌శ‌కంలో వ‌చ్చిన ‘ఫారెస్ట్ గంప్‌’ సినిమాని మ‌న సామాజిక రాజ‌కీయ ప‌రిస్థితులతో ముడిపెట్టి ర‌చించిన తీరు ఆక‌ట్టుకుంటుంది. ఆ విష‌యంలో ర‌చ‌యిత అతుల్ కుల‌క‌ర్ణి క‌థ‌పై త‌న‌దైన ముద్ర‌వేశారని చెప్పొచ్చు. విధితోపాటు.. ప్రేమ‌, మాన‌వ‌త్వం వంటి విష‌యాల్ని ఈ క‌థ‌లో అందంగా స్పృశించారు. ప‌టాన్ కోట్ నుంచి చండీగ‌ఢ్ వెళ్లే రైలులో ఈ క‌థ మొద‌ల‌వుతుంది. 1970వ ద‌శ‌కం నుంచి చ‌డ్డా జీవితం మొద‌ల‌వుతుంది.

ఎమ‌ర్జెన్సీ, సిక్కుల ఊచ‌కోత‌, మ‌త క‌ల‌హాలు, ముంబయి అల్ల‌ర్లు, కార్గిల్ యుద్ధం, ముంబయి మార‌ణ‌హోమం, అన్నా హ‌జారే దీక్ష... ఇలా దేశంలో జ‌రిగిన ప‌లు సంఘ‌ట‌న‌ల్ని క‌థ‌తో ముడిపెట్టిన తీరు ప్ర‌తి ఒక్క‌రినీ లీనం చేస్తుంది. లాల్ బాల్యం, అత‌ని ఎదుగుద‌ల‌, రూప‌తో ప్రేమ‌, ఆర్మీ జీవితం... ఇలా ప‌లు పార్శ్వాలుగా క‌థ సాగుతుంది. షారూఖ్‌ఖాన్ ఎపిసోడ్‌, లాల్ ప‌రుగు పోటీలు, బాల బనియ‌న్ల క‌థ‌... ప్రేక్ష‌కుల‌కు స్వ‌చ్ఛ‌మైన హాస్యం పంచుతాయి. ద్వితీయార్థం భావోద్వేగాలే ప్ర‌ధానంగా సాగుతుంది. లాల్- రూప బంధం నేప‌థ్యంలో వ‌చ్చే స‌న్నివేశాలు హృద‌యాల్ని మెలిపెడ‌తాయి. మ‌హ‌మ్మ‌ద్ భాయ్ నేప‌థ్యంలో వ‌చ్చే స‌న్నివేశాలు మ‌తం, మాన‌వ‌త్వం వంటి విష‌యాల్ని అందంగా ఆవిష్క‌రిస్తాయి. ప‌తాక స‌న్నివేశాలు భావోద్వేగాల‌కి పెద్ద‌పీట వేసినా అవి మ‌రీ నిదానంగా, మాట‌ల‌తో సాగ‌డం అంత‌గా మెప్పించ‌దు.

ఎవ‌రెలా చేశారంటే?

లాల్‌సింగ్ చ‌డ్డా పాత్ర‌పై ఆమిర్‌ ఖాన్ త‌న‌దైన ముద్ర వేసే ప్ర‌య‌త్నం చేశారు. ఆయా కాల‌మాన ప‌రిస్థితులు, పాత్ర‌కి త‌గ్గ‌ట్టుగా ప‌లు కోణాల్లో క‌నిపించే ప్ర‌య‌త్నం చేశారు. అందుకు త‌గ్గ‌ట్టుగా త‌న‌ని తాను మ‌లుచుకున్న విధానం కూడా మెప్పిస్తుంది. అయితే `పీకే`లో కూడా ఇంచుమించు  ఆయ‌న పాత్ర ఇదే ర‌క‌మైన అమాయ‌క‌త్వంతో క‌నిపిస్తుంది కాబ‌ట్టి, ఇందులో కొత్తగా ప్ర‌యత్నించిన‌ట్టేమీ అనిపించ‌దు. ప్ర‌తి మాట‌కి ముందు మ్‌మ్‌... అంటూ మూలుగుతూ మాట్లాడ‌టం కూడా అంత‌గా అత‌క‌లేద‌నిపిస్తుంది. బాల‌రాజు పాత్ర‌లో నాగ‌చైత‌న్య  క‌నిపించేది కొద్దిసేపే. బ‌నియ‌న్లు, డ్రాయ‌ర్లు అంటూ ఆయ‌న చేసే హంగామా న‌వ్విస్తుంది. క‌రీనా క‌పూర్  పోషించిన రూప పాత్ర హ‌త్తుకుంటుంది. ఆ పాత్ర‌లో క‌రీనా చ‌క్క‌టి భావోద్వేగాల్ని పండించింది. మాన‌వ్ విజ్‌,  మోనాసింగ్ త‌దిత‌రులు పాత్ర‌ల‌పై త‌మ‌దైన ముద్ర వేశారు. షారూఖ్‌ఖాన్ అతిథి పాత్ర అల‌రిస్తుంది. సాంకేతిక విభాగాల్లో ఎడిటింగ్ త‌ప్ప మిగ‌తా విభాగాల‌న్నీ చ‌క్క‌టి ప‌నితీరుని క‌న‌బ‌రిచాయి. అతుల్ కుల‌క‌ర్ణి ర‌చ‌నతో ఆక‌ట్టుకున్నాడు. అద్వైత్ చంద‌న్ క‌థ‌నం ప‌రంగా ఎలాంటి క‌స‌ర‌త్తులు చేయ‌క‌పోవ‌డం సినిమాకి మైన‌స్‌గా మారింది. నిర్మాణం ఉన్న‌తంగా ఉంది.

కథ (Laal Singh Chaddha Story) : లాల్ సింగ్ చడ్డా (ఆమిర్ ఖాన్) సగటు చిన్నారి కాదు, మొద్దు మొహం! విషయం అర్థం చేసుకోవడానికి టైమ్ పడుతుంది. అయితే 'నువ్వు అందరి లాంటి చిన్నారివే. ఎందులోనూ తక్కువ కాదు. నీ పనులు నువ్వు చేసుకోవాలి' అని అతడికి తల్లి (మోనా సింగ్) ధైర్యం చెబుతుంది. అటువంటి లాల్ సింగ్ చడ్డాకు స్కూల్‌లో రూపా డిసౌజా (కరీనా కపూర్ ఖాన్) పరిచయం అవుతుంది. లాల్ జీవితంలో ఆమె పాత్ర ఏమిటి? ఆర్మీలో తనకు పరిచయమైన బాలరాజు (అక్కినేని నాగ చైతన్య) కోసం లాల్ ఏం చేశాడు? కార్గిల్ యుద్ధంలో లాల్ కాపాడిన మహ్మద్ భాయ్ (మానవ్ విజ్) ఎవరు? చారిత్రాత్మక సంఘటనలతో ముడి పడిన లాల్ జీవితం ఎలా ఉంది? అనేది సినిమా చూసి తెలుసుకోవాలి.    

విశ్లేషణ (Laal Singh Chaddha Telugu Movie Review) : 'కథ లాంటిదేగా నా జీవితం... ప్రతి అక్షరంలో నీ జ్ఞాపకం' - రూపను లాల్ తలుచుకునే సందర్భంలో వచ్చిన పాటలో సాహిత్యం ఇది. 'ఫారెస్ట్ గంప్'కు, 'లాల్ సింగ్ చడ్డా'కు వ్యత్యాసం గురించి చెప్పాలంటే... ఈ లైన్ సరిపోతుందేమో!? టామ్ హాంక్స్ సినిమాతో పోలిస్తే ఆమిర్ సినిమాలో కథానాయిక ప్రస్తావన ఎక్కువ ఉంటుంది. 

'ఫారెస్ట్ గంప్'లో పాశ్చాత్య సంస్కృతి, అక్కడి యుద్ధ వాతావరణం, చారిత్రాత్మక ఘటనలతో ముందుకు సాగితే... సిక్కు సంస్కృతి, భారతదేశంలో ఘటనలకు ముడి పెడుతూ కథకు భారతీయ హంగులు అద్దారు అతుల్ కులకర్ణి. ఆయన అడాప్షన్‌ను మెచ్చుకోవాలి. ఇండియన్ క్రికెట్ టీమ్ వరల్డ్ కప్ విజయం, అమృత్‌స‌ర్‌లో బ్లూ స్టార్ ఆపరేషన్, ఇందిరా గాంధీ హత్య వంటివి కథా నేపథ్యంలో చూపించారు. హీరోయిన్ ట్రాక్ అబూ సలీం, మోనికా బేడీని గుర్తు చేస్తుంది. కొన్ని మార్పులు, నేటివిటీ మినహాయిస్తే... 'ఫారెస్ట్ గంప్' బాటలో 'లాల్ సింగ్ చడ్డా' నడుస్తుంది.

'ఫారెస్ట్ గంప్' సినిమాను పక్కన పెట్టినా... 'లాల్ సింగ్ చడ్డా' ప్రారంభంలో పంజాబీ వాతావరణం, దేశంలో చారిత్రాత్మక అంశాలను ప్రస్తావిస్తూ కథను ముందుకు నడపడం, షారుఖ్ ఖాన్ అతిథి పాత్ర వంటివి ఆకట్టుకుంటాయి. హాలీవుడ్ సినిమా రీమేక్ అనే సంగతి మరిచి కథలోకి వెళ్ళేలా చేస్తాయి. విశ్రాంతికి వచ్చేసరికి కథలో కొత్తదనం లోపిస్తుంది. అప్పటి వరకూ అక్కడక్కడా వినోదం పడింది. అయితే... ఎమోషన్స్ సరిగా వర్కవుట్ కాలేదు. లాల్ పాత్రను ప్రేక్షకుడు అర్థం చేసుకున్న తర్వాత కథ ముందుకు సాగడం లేదని అనిపిస్తుంది. కథనంలో వేగం లోపించడం మరో మైనస్. నిదానంగా ముందుకు వెళుతుంది. ఆర్మీ నుంచి తప్పించుకున్న టెర్రరిస్ట్ ఒక మ్యాగజైన్ కవర్ పేజీలో కనిపిస్తే ఎవరూ పట్టించుకోకపోవడం ఏంటో? మరీ సిల్లీ ఇది! లాజిక్స్ వదిలేసి మేజిక్ నమ్మారు ఫిల్మ్ మేకర్స్. 

సాంకేతికంగా సినిమా బావుంది. ఆమిర్, కరీనా, షారుఖ్ వయసు తక్కువ చేసి చూపించారు. సంగీతం హృద్యంగా కథతో పాటు ముందుకు సాగింది. డబ్బింగ్ పాటల తరహాలో కాకుండా తెలుగు పాటలే అనిపించేలా అందరికీ అర్ధమయ్యే పదాలతో భాస్కరభట్ల రవికుమార్ సాహిత్యం అందించారు. ప్రేక్షకుడిని కథలోకి తీసుకువెళ్లేలా చేయడంలో దర్శకుడు అద్వైత్ చందన్ పూర్తిగా విఫలం అయ్యారు. 

నటీనటులు ఎలా చేశారు? : నటుడిగా ఆమిర్ ప్రతిభ గురించి కొత్తగా చెప్పాలా? తన నటనతో సినిమాలను నిలబెట్టిన సందర్భాలు ఉన్నాయి. 'లాల్ సింగ్ చడ్డా' చిత్రంలో కొత్త ఆమిర్ ఖాన్ కనిపించలేదు. '3 ఇడియట్స్', 'పీకే' చిత్రాల్లో చూసిన ఆమిర్ మరోసారి మెరిశారంతే! కళ్ళు పెద్దవి చేసుకుని పాత్రకు తగ్గట్టు మేనరిజమ్ మైంటైన్ చేశారు. కొన్ని సన్నివేశాల్లో మెస్మరైజ్ చేశారంతే! అక్కినేని నాగ చైతన్య విషయానికి వస్తే... తెలుగులో హీరోగా కనిపించిన చైతూ వేరు, 'లాల్ సింగ్ చడ్డా'లో చైతూ వేరు. సినిమాలో ఆయనదొక  పాత్ర అంతే! నటనలో, ఆహార్యంలో నాగ చైతన్య వైవిధ్యం చూపించారు. చడ్డీ బనియన్ బిజినెస్ చేయాలనుకునే ఆర్మీ మ్యాన్‌గా అక్కడక్కడా నవ్వులు పంచారు. అయితే... ఆయనను అటువంటి పాత్రలో చూసి తెలుగు ప్రేక్షకులు హర్షించడం కష్టమే. 

కరీనా కపూర్ ఖాన్ పాత్రను మలిచిన విధానం బావుంది. అందులో ఆమె నటన కూడా! మిగతా నటీనటుల్లో ఆమిర్ తల్లిగా నటించిన మోనా సింగ్‌కు ఎక్కువ స్క్రీన్ స్పేస్ లభించింది. ఆమె బాగా చేశారు. మహ్మద్ భాయ్ పాత్రలో మానవ్ విజ్ అభినయం బావుంది. అతిథి పాత్రలో షారుఖ్ ఖాన్ మెరిశారు. ఆయన పాత్రకు ఇచ్చిన ట్విస్ట్ నవ్విస్తుంది.

చివరగా చెప్పేది ఏంటంటే?: 'లాల్ సింగ్ చడ్డా' తన డ్రీమ్ ప్రాజెక్ట్ అని ఆమిర్ ఖాన్ చెబుతూ వచ్చారు. సినిమా కోసం ఆయన 14 ఏళ్ళు తపించారు. బహుశా... లాల్ పాత్రను ఆయన అమితంగా ప్రేమించడంతో ఈ సినిమా చేశారేమో అనిపిస్తుంది. ఆమిర్ నటన గానీ, సినిమా గానీ కొత్తదనం ఇవ్వలేదు. అంచనాలతో థియేటర్లలో అడుగు పెట్టిన ప్రేక్షకులను నిరాశ పరిచే చిత్రమిది. అక్కినేని నాగ చైతన్య స‌మ్‌థింగ్‌ స్పెషల్ అనిపించే పాత్రతో హిందీ ఇండస్ట్రీకి ఎంట్రీ ఇవ్వాల్సింది.

Nagarjuna reviews Laal Singh Chaddha: ‘A film that stirs you from within’

Telugu star Nagarjuna, who watched Aamir Khan ‘s upcoming film Laal Singh Chaddha at a special screening, on Sunday shared his thoughts on the film on Twitter. The actor called the film, “A breath of fresh air.”

He tweeted, “Had the privilege of watching Aamir Khan ’s Laal Singh Chaddha. A breath of fresh air! A film that goes more than surface deep. A film that stirs you from within!! Makes you laugh, cry, and ponder!! It comes with a simple message love and innocence conquer all!! Was wonderful to watch Naga Chaitanya grow as an actor. Director Advait Chandan, writer Atul Kulkarni and the team you just lift our spirits up!! (sic)”

Nagarjuna’s son Naga Chaitanya plays Laal Singh’s friend and army officer Balaraju “Bala” Bodi in Laal Singh Chaddha.

Laal Singh Chaddha is Aamir Khan’s first film in three years, and he has pinned a lot hoped on it. In a recent episode of Koffee With Karan Season 7, Aamir admitted that he will be heartbroken if the movie doesn’t work. “We are excited that we have made a good film, lekin agar film logon ko pasand nahin aayi, bahut dil toot jaayega (If people don’t like it, we will be heartbroken),” he told Karan.

Directed by Advait Chandan and written by Atul Kulkarni, Laal Singh Chaddha also stars Kareena Kapoor , Mona Singh and Manav Vij. The film is getting released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada on August 11.

Story Review

Laal Singh Chaddha (Aamir Khan) narrates his experiences in his life to his co-passengers while traveling to Chandigarh. His co-passengers who at first were disinterested gets connected and show interest in knowing more about Laal Singh Chaddha and how his mother (Mona Singh) , childhood friend Rupa (Kareena Kapoor), Balaraju (Naga Chaitanya), and others are connected to it. To find out the twists and turns in Laal Singh Chaddha's life, enjoy the film on the silver screen.

Artists, Technicians Review

Advait Chandan directed Laal Singh Chadda, which is a remake of Hollywood Oscar-winning film Forrest Gump. Forrest Gump is a classic and remaking is a risky job. However, the duo dared and convinced Aamir Khan to be part of it. Atul Kulkarni claimed that he worked on the story for more than ten years and Advait Chandan did the same. However, after watching the film one wonders what work they did. The story starts off at a slow pace and from then on it turns out to be a tedious watch. There are many emotions associated with the story, be it, mother-son, emotions between the lovers, friends, etc. But much to the disappointment of all, none of the emotions clicked and this impacted the overall output. The story is touching but the screenplay and direction went for a toss. Advait Chandan tried to be creative and innovative to come out of The Forrest Gump story but it did not click. At the top of it, he failed to elevate the emotions of key players like Laal Singh Chadda, Rupa,Bala and others.

Aamir Khan is known as a perfectionist and he tried to recreate the magic of Tom Hanks in the film. However much to the disappointment of all, Aamir Khan's acting turned out to be a caricature and a poor replica. All his expressions and mannerisms and even the dialogue delivery though at first generated interest later ended up testing the patience of the viewers. There is nothing new in his performance and one gets a feeling that he is getting type cast in his roles and expressions and emotions. He is continuing from where he left in his film PK.

Kareena Kapoor is ok in her role as the childhood friend of Aamir Khan. She just passed through the motions and there is nothing for her to do except come up with one or two expressions in all the scenes. Naga Chaitanya made his debut in Bollywood with this film. He is ok in his role and put in his best efforts. However, his fans wonder why he chose this role for his Bollywood debut as he appeared on the screen only for 15 minutes. There is nothing new in his role and the dialogues are pretty ordinary. Mona Singh as the mother performed her role effectively. Others performed according to their roles. Shah Rukh Khan's special appearance draws applause.

Pritam's music is good. Songs are situational and emotional and are shot well. But one gets a feeling that songs slowed the pace of the film. The background music of Tajuj Tiku is good and it elevated the scenes. The editing of Hemanti Sarkar left a lot to be desired. There are many scenes that dragged the pace of the film. Satyajit Pande's cinematography is beautiful. Production values are good.

Aamir Khan is known for his terrific emotions and exceptional expressions. People got interested when he decided to do the remake of the Hollywood film Tom Hanks. But in the story, Aamir Khan much to the disappointment of all came up with routine and similar expressions and failed to connect chords with the movie lovers. Much to the shock of all, his expressions turned out to be a laughing stock as they looked silly and out of sync. The story failed to appeal to the people as Advait Chandan failed to elevate the emotions. All in all Laal Singh Chadda turns out to be a poor replica of Forrest Gump. Considering all these aspects, Cinejosh goes with a 1.5 rating for Laal Singh Chaddha.

Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha Telugu Dubbed Movie Review & Ratings | Hit or Flop?

Laal Singh Chaddha Telugu Dubbed Movie Review : Thugs of Hindustan, Aamir Khan’s final theatrical release, was a financial disaster for the Hindi cinema industry. Aamir re-emerged almost four years later with the official version of the 1994 American classic “Forrest Gump.”

Laal Singh Chaddha’s release today was keenly anticipated by both the general public and followers of Aamir Khan. If the movie can be seen in a movie theatre and if the four-year wait was worth it, then it must be evaluated as a whole.

Because of his twisted spine, Laal Singh Chaddha has leg braces to help him walk. When he meets Rupa on the road, she is kind and supportive of his endeavors. He rushes faster and breaks his braces when his peers mock Laal Sigh Chaadha, who can hardly walk. Laal Singh is still participating in sports and running. After receiving an honorary medal from the Indian President, he joins the Indian Army, where he meets Balaraju Bodi for the initial time.

Cast & Crew

Besides Manav Vij and Akkineni, the rest of the cast includes Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, and Mona Singh. Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, Jyoti Deshpande, and Advait Chandan are the film’s producers, as well as its director (Viacom18 Studios). Pritam wrote the music for the film. It is Setu’s job to take the pictures. Hemanti Sarkar is the editor in charge.

According to the previous paragraph, “Forrest Gump” is a direct sequel to this film. Aside from a few sentences that appear unnecessary, Atul Kulkarni’s Indian rendition of the nativity and scenes looks amazing. Original plot was kept intact by filmmakers who stayed true to the source material without altering its emotional core.

In the Indian film industry, Aamir Khan is known as a perfectionist because of his passion to his performances. In spite of his new look and body, his performance can bring back memories of his PK character. Aamir excelled in the film’s most dramatic scenes. Although Kareena Kapoor has had less screen time recently, she did excellently in some poignant scenes with Aamir Khan.

Balaraju Bodiga, played by Akkineni Naga Chaitanya, appears to be a typical person at first, but he excels. Mona Singh’s portrayal of a mother will captivate us. The rest of the cast also did an outstanding job.

The film appears to be technically sound from all angles. One of the highlights of the film is the score by Pritam. The album consists of a heartfelt soundtrack with a moving background score. For his cinematography, notably in the combat sequences and a few magnificent landscape images, Setu deserves credit. Advait Chandan, the film’s director, did an outstanding job of reviving Forrest Gump’s charm.

In the end, Laal Singh Chaddha is a faithful recreation of the original that will win over audiences’ hearts despite efforts to have it banned.

Aamir Khan scored a huge flop in the form of Thugs of Hindostan a few years back. He is now out with his comeback vehicle Laal Singh Chaddha. The film has also been released in Telugu and let’s see how it is.

Laal Singh Chadha(Aamir Khan) is a mamma’s boy right from his childhood. He falls in love with Rupa(Kareena Kapoor) but sadly she leaves him at different stages of his life. With disappointment, Laal Singh embarks on a journey of self-discovery. What troubles does he face? Did he marry Rupa finally? and where does the character of Chay Akkineni fit in this setup? To know the answers, you need to watch the film on the big screen.

Plus Points

Aamir Khan shows his brilliance in a few scenes but majorly mimics his character from PK. All his scenes with Kareena Kapoor are quite good. Speaking of Kareena, she fits her role perfectly and does able justice to it.

Chay Akkineni makes his Hindi debut and was quite good in his role of Bala. He brings a comedy touch to the film and all his scenes with Aamir are the highlights. Mona Singh who plays Aamir’s mom is also impressive in her role.

Minus Points

Not many know that Laal Singh Chadha is the official remake of Tom Hanks’s Forest Gump. But Aamir and his team get it wrong completely. The emotions go for a toss as the film lack proper drama.

Aamir Khan’s films are known to have rooted emotions but that is not the case with Laal Singh Chadha. There is no single scene that gets you teary-eyed. Aamir tries hard to salvage his performance but the screenplay lacks the punch.

One of the biggest drawbacks is the pace. The film is 167 minutes long and feels like you are sitting forever. The second half goes downhill as there is no story, the screenplay is bad and the ending is quite bland.

Another aspect where the film goes down is the lack of conflict. The character of Laal Singh does not have any enemy to face. It is his plain journey that has routine problems which the audience has seen in so many films earlier.

Technical Aspects

Production values of the film are top-notch. The film starts in the 80’s and the change in the timeline has been showcased superbly. The music by Pritam is very good and the Telugu dubbing was also excellent. Editing is pathetic as close to half an hour can be easily deleted. The makeup done for Aamir is quite good.

Coming to the director Advait, he has done a very bad job with the film. Looks like Aamir Khan has taken the project way too much into his hands that the young director did not get any scope to narrate the film in a gripping manner. The film lacks basic soul and Aamir is seen running in the film for the most part. Seeing the film, the audience will also run away from the theaters.

On the whole, Laal Singh Chadha is an epic disappointment. The film is boring, lacks drama, and is quite lengthy. Chay Akkineni fares well but Aamir’s magic is clearly missing in this film. Even though Aamir’s films are bad, he never disappoints with his performance. But sadly, in Laal Singh Chadha he too looks lost and disappoints his fans and general audience making this film a bit letdown.

“Forrest Gump” has been called many things: a feel-good crowd-pleaser, a maddening piece of pap, and America’s version of Voltaire’s “Candide” ( per the film scholar Dave Kehr ). “Laal Singh Chaddha” offers up a fresh look: a luxuriantly produced Indian adaptation that doubles down on the story’s simpleton hero, with new historical touchstones.

In the film’s framing device, Laal (Aamir Khan, the star of the 2001 crossover hit “Lagaan” ) recounts his life story to passengers on a train. He grows up bullied because of his leg braces, despite his protective mother (Mona Singh), but he befriends a classmate, Rupa (Kareena Kapoor Khan), and later pines for her.

The Gumpian formula of comical serendipity plays out as Laal accidentally becomes a track-and-field star, inspires a signature dance, rescues friend and foe during a mountain skirmish, and earns millions manufacturing underwear. The famous box of chocolates is reimagined, sweetly so: life is now like a golgappa (a crisp fried treat).

In Advait Chandan’s film, traumatic national history gets a therapeutic recap: the military conflict in which Laal shows the power of compassion is the Kargil war, while the assassination of Indira Gandhi and sectarian riots also figure into the plot. (Laal is Sikh but only barely grasps these violent events.)

Though treated as noble, Laal’s naïve optimism doesn’t rise to much more than the notion of having a good attitude. Khan’s portrayal suggests a cross between a lesser Farrelly Brothers comedy and “Being There,” and seems ill-suited to Rupa’s grim later experiences married to an abusive producer. The movie’s charms are limited by what comes to feel like a coddling conceit.

Laal Singh Chaddha Rated PG-13 for some violent content, thematic elements and suggestive material. In Hindi, with subtitles. Running time: 2 hours 39 minutes. In theaters.

The Telugu trailer of ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ is here. Starring Aamir Khan in the lead role, the film also features our Telugu actor Naga Chaitanya in an important role.

The Telugu trailer was launched today in Hyderabad. Aamir Khan, Chiranjeevi, and Naga Chaitanya attended the event. Chiranjeevi is presenting the Telugu version.

Directed by Advait Chandan of ‘Secret Superstar’ fame, the film is based on the Hollywood classic, Forrest Gump. Four years after the release of ‘Thugs of Hindustan, Aamir Khan is bringing this movie. It is scheduled to hit the screens on August 11, 2022.

Bollywood star Aamir Khan’s film, Laal Singh Chaddha had a simultaneous release in Telugu with the same title today. Let’s analyze it.

The film starts in the 1970s time period with the childhood of Laal Singh Chaddha (Aamir Khan). The film is about the life journey of Laal Singh Chaddha. What kind of experiences will Laal undergo in his life? His interaction with various people forms the main crux of the film.

On screen performances:

Aamir Khan did his part quite effectively. His physical transformation at various stages of life is good. But most of his acting and facial expressions remain us of the 2014 film, PK.

Naga Chaitanya is seen in a cameo appearance. Though he performed decently, the lack of depth in the character dilutes the purpose. Heroine Kareena Kapoor is okay as Laal’s girlfriend. Her emotional acting during the pre-climax portions register.

Actress Mona Singh is alright in her mother role. Other artists who did supporting roles are okay with their performance.

Off screen talents:

Pritam’s music is good as all the songs are audible. The background score composed by Tanuj Tiku elevates a few key portions in the first half.

The cinematography work by Setu registers well as he captured the mood of the film nicely. Editing work by Hemanti Sarkar is dull.

VFX work done by Red Chills Entertainment company is good. Production values for this star-studded film are fine.

Positive Points:

Negative Points:

• Lack of emotional connectivity

In an overview, Laal Singh Chaddha is a larger than life journey of the man that lacks proper scene order and a gripping screenplay. Except for a couple of Aamir Khan portions in the first half, the film has nothing much to discuss here.

Morning Show Talk: Laal Sigh Chaddha

Laal Singh Chaddha is the film that has seen the light today in theatres. This is the remake of the Oscar Award winning film 'Forrest Gump' (1994). Yes, it's remade and released after 28 years. There was no initial buzz on this film in spite of heavy promotions from the production team and the actors.

After the morning show, the major chunk of the talk seems to be between average and disastrous.

Taran Adarsh, the popular critic, who is known for pushing even an average film to the next level with his reviews, gave two stars for 'Laal Singh Chaddha' and mentioned- "#AamirKhan’s comeback vehicle #LSC runs out of fuel midway… Lacks a captivating screenplay to enthrall you [second half goes downhill]… Has some terrific moments, but lacks fire in totality".

This is infact a big jolt for this film which may kill the interest of the audience to watch the film, for those rely on Taran's reviews. 

India Today wrote- "The worst thing about Laal Singh Chaddha is Aamir Khan'' and continued to write- "Aamir Khan's pet project, Laal Singh Chaddha, hits the theatres today, August 11. It is an official Hindi adaptation of Tom Hanks' Forrest Gump. If you manage to remove that information from your mind, you might just like the film".

This means that it's a badly made remake but sounds ok for those who are not exposed to the original. 

Filmy Duniya writes- "Amid #BoycottLalSinghChaddha call given by the people, film is reported to be super flop at the box office"

IMDb Rating of the film after the morning show is 4/10. 

First Post wrote- "A remake that does some things better than Forrest Gump, some things mindlessly worse. The primary differentiation between Forrest Gump and Laal Singh Chaddha is that Forrest was driven mostly by his instinct to follow commands, Laal's actions are led far more by his devotion to Rupa"

The film opened up with mixed reviews on a whole from the audience at the theatres as well. 

But on the other hand- IANS, DNA, Outlook have given 3.5 stars and there are some reviews with 4 stars as well. 

On a whole the film received mixed reviews in both extremes. We have to see how this low buzz film is able to handle these mixed reviews and swim ahead in the days to come.

Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor played the leads while Naga Chaitanya performed in an important role. Advaith Chandan directed the film while Atul Kulkarni adapted the original to Hindi with his writing.

Laal Singh Chaddha Review – Disastrous Remake

What Is the Film About? Laal, aka Laal Singh Chaddha (Aamir Khan), is a slow and simple-minded guy who is uncorrupted by worldly emotions. How this guy with a special outlook goes through his life, maintains relationships and where he end is the movie’s overall plot.

Performances Aamir Khan is the whole and sole carrier of the movie. The entire narrative rests on his act as Laal Singh Chaddha. Sadly, it is a divisive one where the star errs most of the time on the negative side. To put it in simple terms – he overacts. Aamir Khan goes overboard playing a simpleton so much that it appears cartoonish.

What also doesn’t help Aamir Khan’s cause is that Laal Singh Chaddha is a remake where the original act is seen as an iconic performance. It is a double blow of sorts.

The actual act appears similar to his acts in Dhoom 3 (Samar role) and PK, but there is a slight difference. It is closer to Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory. Now, if only that were the case and similar ease were displayed, things would have worked out for Aamir Khan.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t happen, and what we have is a fully blown-out over-the-top act wherein Aamir Khan struggles to rein it in. A few sequences still work out emotionally, but that’s more to do with the actual content rather than the act itself. For the sake of the star and his future, one hopes that he doesn’t repeat it in future.

Kareena Kapoor Khan is seen in parts and is alright as always, playing a character that seems to be partly inspired by a famous ’90s Bollywood actress. The initial sequences are poor due to the terrible de-ageing VFX, though. In places, she is hardly recognisable. The Telugu dubbing further makes it worse.

Analysis Advait Chandan directs Laal Singh Chaddha. It is his second attempt after the small film Secret Superstar. Here, he gets a much bigger set-up, star and a remake to boot. Laal Singh Chaddha is a remake of the Hollywood classic Forrest Gump.

The problem with remakes is always the comparison, whereas the challenge lies in the adaptation to the nativity. Advait Chandan gets it right with the latter, which should ideally make it easy regarding the former. Sadly, the acting choice and the presentation of critical events ruin the whole effort.

Laal Singh Chaddha belongs to the rare case of movies where it ends up with disastrous results due to the acting. Sadly, it is the lead actor who gets the blame here. It, in turn, redirects to the director, who should have the control and focus on understanding where things are going wrong. Nothing of that sort happens here.

From the introduction of Aamir Khan as Laal Singh, one can sense something is off. There is an earnestness, but it is overdone. There is a visible attempt to be simple and dim-witted, which makes it look laborious. What it does is brings down everything else that is beautifully executed.

The script follows the original to the T with superficial changes aligning with it. Whatever is done is alright, but nothing that changes course from the original. The template is strictly followed.

Despite the over-the-top performance, there is some intermittent connection with the proceedings. As mentioned, it is mainly because of the existing drama in the material. It is adjusted to suit the local tastes and that one thing done right.

The first half, therefore, feels alright with a couple of emotional moments and scenes between the lead working alright.

The second half, unfortunately, falters after a decent take-off initially. The religious angle and the message (Mohammad track) don’t look organic. It also feeds on the massive polarisation happening religiously in the online world. The story turns more predictable, and the drama is syrupy without any emotional connection.

As we move further into the second half, things get more dry and soulless. There is a tremendous effort via the songs to bring emotions, but it doesn’t work out. Another key element from the original, involving real-life incidents, also lacks impact.

When one reaches the climactic portions, a restless feeling sets in. It wouldn’t be an overstatement to say that one might find it challenging to sit through to the end. The final few minutes test one’s patience like never before in recent times while Laal Singh Chaddha goes on and on with his emotional outpour. Ultimately, it sucks on all our energies and leaves us high and dry.

Overall, Laal Singh Chaddha is a faithful adaptation of a classic that goes wrong. Though beautifully mounted, it is long, boring and tiresome without emotional appeal. If you have seen the original, the remake offers nothing new. If you haven’t, it fails to engage. In either case, the remake disappoints.

Performances by Others Actors Apart from the lead essayed by Aamir Khan, and Kareen Kapoor Khan, there are a few critical roles. They appear in parts but are vital to the narrative. Naga Chaitanya is one such role. However, he is not that effective due to a stereotypical caricaturish presentation. The good thing is that he isn’t as irritating as the promos make him be. Mona Singh is the better off the lot. She plays the mother part convincingly. Manav Vij fails to leave an impact due to a haphazardly written role. Shah Rukh Khan appears in a cameo but lacks any effect.

Music and Other Departments? Pritam’s music is a significant highlight in the movie. It is excellent replete with old-school melody. The background score (Tanuj-Tiku) too is alright and compliments the music and emotions. Setu’s cinematography is fabulous. The visuals are dreamy and stay in our minds long after the movie is over. Hemanti Sarkar’s editing should have been better. The film feels way overlong. The writing is fine, mostly. The Telugu dubbing is weak. It further dents the emotions, and the whole thing looks lacklustre.

Aamir Khan ‘s Laal Singh Chaddha combines humor, love, sacrifice, and friendship with emotional music, making it a meaningful watch. Directed by Advait Chandan and written by Atul Kulkarni, the movie was produced by Paramount Pictures, Aamir Khan Productions, and Viacom18 Studios. It is a Hindi adaptation of Tom Hanks’ popular 1994 movie Forrest Gump, an adaptation of the novel by Winston Groom of the same name. Laal Singh Chaddha also stars  Kareena Kapoor Khan, Naga Chaitanya, and Mona Singh.

The comedy-drama revolves around a man with a low IQ who recounts the early years of his life to a passenger on a train. However, his only wish is to reunite with his childhood sweetheart, Rupa. The movie was released on August 11, 2022 .

In Laal Singh Chaddha, Rupa never responded to Laal’s letters. She was charged with obscenity, due to which she faced protests from various groups and NGOs. She associated herself with bad people and wanted quick wealth. This led her to become the mistress of a gangster who exploited her.

On the other hand, Laal continued to visit her regularly and once saw the gangster assaulting her. Unable to stop himself, he intervened and fought him. But Rupa insisted that Laal could not keep rescuing her forever and had to let her go. She knew Laal was the only one who truly loved her, while others took advantage. Despite her love for Laal, she sought a different life, prioritizing money at any cost.

Later, Laal launched his innerwear production business as Bala wanted. He collaborated with two other tailors but needed help with the marketing bit. Mohammed Baaji, the Pakistani commander whose life Laal saved, also joined them. He suggested naming the brand after a girl to boost sales, and Rupa became the company’s name. The sales instantly soared, and the company thrived nationwide.

Mohammed eventually returned to his country to open a school. After Laal’s mother passed away, he immersed himself in agriculture but often thought about his Rupa. When she returned, she was arrested for her connections to the gangster and was sent to prison. This made Laal feel abandoned again, which resulted in anger, resentment, and loneliness. He started running, trying to escape his past and his regrets.

Eventually, he caught the media’s attention, and they started covering his journey as he ran from the Himalayas to Kanyakumari, covering the entire country on foot. After months of running, he suddenly stopped, and people started following him, hoping to seek peace. However, Laal told them he was tired and wanted to return home.

After returning home, Laal learned that Rupa had written him several letters. She was done serving her sentence and was now living in Chandigarh. When the two met, he also learned that Rupa had a son named Aman, and to his surprise, she revealed that Laal was the father. Overwhelmed with joy, he married her, fulfilling his lifelong dream.

At the end of Laal Singh Chaddha, before Rupa passed away due to her illness, Laal created many memories with her. He then enrolled Aman at his old school and embraced the circle of life.
