Ecological problem is one of the most important issues nowadays. Human activities have a negative impact on the environment. Humanity currently faces problems with air, water, and lands pollution, unreasonable agricultural systems, deforestation, and others. As a result, the number of available natural resources is decreasing. Another negative consequence of human activities is the process of global warming and global climate changes. These changes affect the whole Earth and might result in adverse consequences for people and wild nature (“The Consequences of Climate Change”). Therefore, it is obvious that the situation should be improved.

Probably, everybody asks oneself what he or she personally could do to improve the ecological situation. After all, the main source of pollution is the industry sector. However, we all belong to humanity and make our small impact on the environment. And we all could make the situation slightly better. Our daily habits have both positive and negative long-term consequences for the world we live in. It is important to understand to plan our life and our activities.

As far as my family and I are concerned, we performed several steps to reduce the negative impact on the environment. First of all, we all try to save clean water. We always remember to turn off our taps. We do not keep the water running when we brush teeth or wash something. Saving clean water is very important for the environment. The problem of clean water availability, probably, is one of the most pressing. No living creature can survive without clean water. Fewer sources we use, more of them remain for the future generation.

Another important action we perform to improve the situation with water is avoiding water pollution. Our family refused to use cleaning detergents with phosphates as it is known that these substances are harmful to human health. Moreover, it is difficult to eliminate these compounds from water. Therefore, phosphates in the water get to nature and poison living organisms. Thus, it is better to use detergents without phosphates. It helps to keep the healthy and to reduce water pollution.

Except for water pollution, there are a lot of other problems that need to be solved. One of them is waste deposits. These deposits occupy a large area. Different wastes need different (however, always significant) times to decompose. Besides, while decomposing, a lot of harmful compounds appear. These compounds poison the land and can get to the water. In the last decades, a lot of programs of waste separation appeared. People are asked to separate the waste: to combine plastic with plastic, organic with organic, and paper with paper. Different wastes are treated in different ways, which allows cutting pollution. For example, plastic can be remolded and used again, while it requires hundreds of years for its degradation in nature. Moreover, during this process, a lot of harmful products release (Law and Thompson 144). Thus, it is better to separate plastic material and recycle it. It would be even better not to use plastic at all, and when it is possible, try to use biopolymers instead.

It is important to understand that small steps are better than nothing. If we want to improve the ecological situation, we should start with ourselves, analyze our daily activities, and make improvements where it is possible. Carrying about our environment is our responsibility as citizens. Finally, the small effects of such actions might summarize positive global changes.

It provides food, air, water and millions of other things. Humanity’s entire life-supporting system totally depends on the well-being of all the species living the earth.

We call it the biosphere. Biosphere means one global ecological system under which all living things are depending upon each other relatively. In the ecosystem or overall biosphere, there are some smaller ecosystems like the rainforests , deserts , oceans and the tundra.

An ecosystem has both living and non-living parts. It can be terrestrial or aquatic. However, the same study criticizes the greenhouse effect by saying that since the industrial revolution, it has led to heat in the atmosphere at a rapid rate instead of making the earth warmer. The long-term alteration in temperature and typical weather patterns has led to various environmental effects on humans; hence, governments should devise ways to minimize the factors that cause climate change.

The first environmental effect of climate change on humans is that it increases heat-related deaths. As the temperature increase in the atmosphere, people experience more frequent and hotter days. Such temperatures are unfavorable for some people. For instance, the temperature changes lead to death of thousands of individuals in the United States each year (Burke et al. 2018). Such high sea levels are likely to affect people living in various cities and islands, which may lead to the migration of these people to other areas.

Climate change is likely to increase strength of extreme events such as droughts and storms, threatening human life and safety. When there are increased temperatures in the atmosphere, there is a likelihood that it will affect the hydrological cycle. The higher temperatures could lead to prolonged droughts, affecting various living things (Mikhaylov et al. 2020). The plants will die due to lack of water, leading to low levels of transpiration and decreased amount of water vapor through evapotranspiration. This, in turn, affects the number of clouds that could be formed, affecting the amount of transpiration. The more the problem persists, the more the humans are concerned. Human beings mainly depend on plants for food and even water for survival. The moment the drought conditions persist, human beings are likely to get a food shortage, hence facing hunger or even death. On the other hand, the increase in temperature leads to the melting of the glaciers, leading to the rise in sea levels, which could lead to floods, hence killing people.

Climate change also leads to warmer temperatures, leading to a greater risk of human beings dying prematurely. When people pollute the air through the emission of gases, there tend to be unhealthy levels in the atmosphere. When water is contaminated, many people are affected since they depend on it, and once they are infected, it increases the risk of death.

People with mental illness are at a high risk of increasing their status during hotter conditions. Research shows that these individuals double the bet of death when there are increased heat waves (Liu et al. 2019). Some medication for people with mental illness makes it difficult for people to regulate their body temperatures. Some individuals, such as older persons, tend to be stressed during extreme conditions. For instance, women with kids can tend to emphasize what to feed their children during drought conditions. Parents can also be distressed when storms and floods destroy their houses or even crops because of the worries of eating or even feeding their families. Sometimes, floods kill properties of people, causing distress and depression on people.

Climate change leads to increased temperatures in the atmosphere, which reduces the chances of people getting pregnant. Research shows that the problem is likely to get worse as temperatures increases. High temperatures tend to harm birth rate and sperm account. As the temperatures get up, the heat waves increase, making it difficult for women to become pregnant. Research that Barreca et al. conducted on U.S birth data shows that there are fewer births in May (Barreca et al. 2018). The fewer births this month are due to the increased heat waves in August, nine months before May. This means that in August, the probability of women becoming pregnant is very low due to the high heat waves. The research indicates that people tend to have sex in all periods of the year at an equal rate, but the heat waves tend to affect male fertility. During high temperatures, the sperm counts tend to fall. The study also showed that people from the northern states experienced slightly more effectiveness because they were less prepared for the heat waves. However, the hot states such as Arizona had the same trends as the cooler ones because they had adapted to the heat waves and were much prepared as they stayed indoors or installed air conditioners in their buildings.

The last effect of climate change is that it can lead to dust storms, affecting humans. Climate change can lead to winds which cause blowing dust and sand to fill the air. When they fill the air, they limit visibility and can create traffic on roads. The increased dust can also lead to increased accidents leading to the loss of lives. The high sand and dust storms have led to increases in hospital admissions, increases in emergency hospital visits, and increased asthma cases or worsening the conditions (Schweitzer et al. 2018). The bits of dust and soil during a dust or sand storm can carry pathogens, fungi, or even bacteria affecting people’s health.

In conclusion, climate change has had adverse effects on the lives of people. Some results are minor, while others are major. The significant products include the deaths of people. Alternatively, climate change effects can affect particular people more adversely compared to others. Older people and children are likely to be at greater risk when climate change occurs. People from the northern latitudes, the athletes, the homeless, and the poor are also at greater chances to be affected by global warming. Wealthy people are likely to be better positioned to deal with higher temperatures to install air conditions in their buildings. Governments should ensure that they come up with ways to minimize the global warming effect. They should come up with ways to produce clean energy to reduce global warming. They can input measures to organizations on the amount of carbon they are supposed to create and impose fines or high taxes on those that emit a high amount of carbon. It can also protect and restore ecosystems to slow global warming. Another way the government can deal with global warming is by supporting small-scale agricultural producers, ensuring enough food in the country. People should also avoid using energies that emit carbon, such as coal, and start using renewable energy sources such as solar.

Our environment is regularly affected by human behavior, and the effects can either be negative or positive. The negative effects of human behavior on the environment include pollution, deforestation, climate change, and noise whereas the positive effects of human behavior on the environment include the protection of the ozone layer, the preservation of the world’s endangered species, and the conservation of the resources of the earth. Human impacts on the environment are unavoidable because, we do exist on the planet, and we have to leave a mark or footprint where we live. The environmental have the ability to shape and influence the human behavior. Environmental cues are factors that trigger a reaction over something (Steg, 2013). Environmental cues notify an individual on how to react on what happens to the environment, and therefore, they shape and persuade human behaviors. A good example of an environmental cue is water running from the taps and wasted to the ground. Lets take a scenario whereby a person is on his/her way to work or in the market, when he/she notices water running from the tap, the water being wasted is an environmental cue that will influence that person’s behavior whereby, he or she will stop, close the taps In order to save the water or just leave it running. In this scenario, this prompt influenced the person’s behavior because, the individual had to stop and close the taps in order to save the water. In this scenario, the person was able to positively impact the environment by saving the water from being wasted. Human behavior can be modified to support sustainability in so many ways. First, individuals can engage in sustainable ways to positively impact the environment and change their daily routine behaviors. In addition, human beings can be tailored to modify their behaviors in order to live sustainably. When people encounter environmental cues, they are supposed to engage in sustainable behaviors in order to contribute negatively to the environment. When human behavior is modified for instance, when a person cleans the environment to prevent pollution, it will help in limiting the negative effects on the environment. In addition, human activities such as avoiding pollution, keeping the environment clean, saving energy, and planting more trees can limit the negative effects on the environment, thus supporting sustainability (Manning, 2009). Social norms are known to power the human behavior and beliefs about the environment. According to the Social norms, behavior influence environmental policy, pro-environmental behaviors affect pro-environmental beliefs (2013). Human beings act in a certain way because they hold certain values on the issues. For instance, individuals will not litter the ground just because they want to keep their compound clean, but when they make it a norm not to litter the ground and to keep the environment clean, it will keep the value of making the environment clean, thus positively affecting it. Steg notes that, social norms influence in a person’s behavior maybe a tipping point for making the environment clean, thus a close step to a sustainable future (2013). Individual should practice social norms like recycling and water and electricity conservation in order to positively affect the environment, and minimize the negative effects on the environment caused by social norms. Nonetheless, if a person stays in an environment where recycling and conserving water and electricity are not social norms, this can influence the person’s beliefs and behavior and can negatively affect the environment. Therefore, social norms play a vital role in preserving or affecting the environment (Social norms, behavior influence environmental policy, 2013). There are a number of solutions that can successfully change human behavior and habits in order to lessen the negative influence on the environment. Individuals can alter their everyday’s conducts in order to positively affect the environment. The two possible solutions that could successfully change human behavior in order to minimize negative effects on the environment are take up energy efficient solutions and keeping the environment clean. For instance, one can focus to avoid polluting the environment, saving water and electricity as well as saving gas. When one does all these, it will lessen negative environmental impacts. In addition, people can focus on buying hybrid cars, and using solar panels in order to conserve the valuable resources on the planet in addition to avoiding air pollution. Recycling is also a possible solution to lessen negative impacts on the environment because; the environment will be liberated from plastics. One can focus to re-use grocery bags, or even procure household products in bulk thus creating less waste. Therefore, human behavior and habits can be changed in order to lessen negative effects on the environment. In conclusion, changing human behaviors to support sustainability can be a hefty task, but it aids to positively affect the atmosphere. Environmental clues influence people’s behavior either positively or negatively, depending on what they choose to do in a situation. However, human behavior can be modified to support sustainability in order to limit negative impacts on the environment. People should be determined to positively affect the environment by making conscious decisions to reduce carbon emissions, pollution, saving energy and water, in addition to preserving the earth’s reserves in order to diminish the negative environmental impacts. Humans cannot avoid impacting the environment, but they can change their behavior to minimize the negative impacts on the environment and sustain future sustainability.
