Chhattisgarh located in the center-east and is one of the 28 states of India. The state was formed on 1st November 2000 by partitioning ten Chhattisgarhi and six Gondi speaking districts of Madhya Pradesh . This state is the 10th largest state in the country, with the population making it the 17th most populous state in India. Chhattisgarh borders Madhya Pradesh in the northwest, Uttar Pradesh in the north, Jharkhand in the northeast, Maharashtra in the southwest, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in the south, and Odisha in the southeast.

Chhattisgarh northern and southern portion is hilly, while the central portion has a fertile belt of plains. The state plateaus are streaked with high range of Satpuras in the north, the river Mahanadi and its tributaries in the Central plains and the Bastar Plateau in the South. The Pats (Hills) give rise to the main river systems Mahanadi, Hasdeo, Shivnath, and Indravati.

It got its name from the 36 ancient forts in the area which are Ratanpur, Vijaypur, Kharound, Maro, Kautgarh, Nawagarh, Sondhi, Aukhar, Padarbhatta, Semriya, Champa, Lafa, Chhuri, Kenda, Matin, Aparora, Pendra, Kurkuti-kandri, Raipur, Patan, Simaga, Singarpur, Lavan, Omera, Durg, Saradha, Sirasa, Menhadi, Khallari, Sirpur, Figeswar, Rajim, Singhangarh, Suvarmar, Tenganagarh, and Akaltara. However, some believe that the name Chhattisgarh is the corrupted form of Chedisgarh which literally means Raj or “ Empire of the chedis “.

In ancient times this area was known as Dakshin Kosla (Southern Kosal). Sharabhapuri, Panduwanshi, Somvanshi, Kalachuri, and Nagavanshi rulers ruled the region between the 6th and 12th centuries. In the 11th century, the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh was invaded by Rajendra Chola I and Kulothunga Chola I of the Chola Empire.

From 1741 to 1845, Chhattisgarh was under the control of the Maratha Empire. From 1845 to 1947, the British had control over Chhattisgarh. With the arrival of the British in 1845, Raipur gained prominence at the place of Ratanpur. In 1905 Sambalpur district was shifted to Odisha and Surguja State was shifted from Bengal to Chhattisgarh.

The new state was established on 1 November 1956 by merging the new area into the region and later it remained part of the state for 44 years of independence. Before becoming the new state of Madhya Pradesh , this region was part of the ancient Madhya Pradesh state, whose capital was also Bhopal. Prior to this, the region was part of the Central Provinces and Berar under the British Raj. Some areas of Chhattisgarh state used to be concentrated provinces at the time of British rule , but they were later included in Madhya Pradesh.

The first independent state was demanded in 1920. After this, this demand kept happening again and again in a short span of time, but no campaign was ever established for it. All political parties always came together, there were social meetings, seminars, rallies, and strikes. In 1924, Raipur Congress Unit demanded an independent state and this was also discussed in the annual meeting of the Indian Congress in Tripura. The bar to establish a regional Congress organization in Chhattisgarh was also discussed.

When the State Reorganization Commission was set up in 1954, the demand for an independent Chhattisgarh state was brought to the fore, but the matter was still not approved. In 1955, there was a demand for an independent state in the Nagpur assembly, which at that time was in central India.

The protest also saw more activities in 1990. This included the establishment of a political forum in the state and in particular the establishment of a state building forum. Chandulal Chandrakar led the forum and many successful regional movements were organized in the forum. These movements of the Forum were getting support from all the organizations, including the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Indian National Congress.

The new National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government sent the reconstituted Chhattisgarh Beel to Madhya Pradesh Assembly for approval, where it was once again unanimously approved and introduced in the Lok Sabha. The bill of independent Chhattisgarh was passed in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha and the way to create an independent Chhattisgarh state was also cleared.

On 25 August 2000, the President of India also gave his consent under the Madhya Pradesh Reorganization Act 2000 . On 1 November 2000, the Government of India divided the state of Madhya Pradesh into two states called Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.

Hindi is the official language of the state, while Chhattisgarhi is mostly spoken and used among people. Chhattisgarhi is an Eastern Hindi language with heavy vocabulary and linguistic features from Munda and Dravidian languages. In ancient times Chhattisgarhi was also known as Dakshin Kosali and Kosali. The eastern part of the state mostly speaks Odia, while northeast Chhattisgarh people speak Nagpuri. Chhattisgarh, one of the smaller states in India and a very young one at that! Not really known for being as IT-savvy as Karnataka or Andhra Pradesh, but it has a remarkably successful e-governance project in place.

Called ‘CHOICE’ or the ‘Chhattisgarh Online Information for Citizen Empowerment’, this flagship project covers almost all of the government departments that provide service to citizens.

Built on a private-public partnership model, the project currently provides its citizens an online access to ten types of certificates which include the death and birth certificates, the ration cards, the OBC and caste certificates among others.

“Plans are on to extend the project to cover another 110 services across various other departments,” said Aman Singh, CEO, CHIPS (Chhattisgarh Information and Biotechnology Promotion Society), while addressing a session on ‘E- governance: From Successful Pilot to Sustainable Implementation’ at the Bangalore IT.COM 2004.

Giving details of another flagship project called GIS or ‘Geographic Information System’, which provides not just computerised land records but also maps of the lands to the farmers, he said: “the key to the success of these projects has been involvement of the user department along with a set of good leaders, who believe in ‘thinking big, starting small and replicating fast’.”

Agreeing with him was Ajay Sawhney, Secretary IT and Communication, Government of Andhra Pradesh, who stressed on the need for e-governance projects to be both citizen- centric and involve private-public partnerships. Citing the example of projects like the e-Seva, CFST, CARD and e- procurement, he said: “These projects attribute their success to all their project champions who are IT-savvy, have a sound domain knowledge and create customised, user-friendly solutions.”

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was born on January 23, 1897 in Cuttack, Orissa. His father was Janakinath Bose and mother was Prabhavati Devi. He was influenced by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and Ramakrishna. He graduated from the Scottish Church College with first division. Subhash Chandra stood fourth in the ICS examination in England.

But He wanted to contribute to the Indian freedom struggle. He was elected President of the Indian National Congress twice. He formed the Azad Hind Fauj on 5 th July 1943. He gave the famous slogan ‘Give me blood and I will give you freedom’ . It is believed that he died on 18th August 1945 in a plane crash.

Subhash Chandra Bose Essay: 150 Words

Subhash Chandra Bose was born on 23rd January, 1897 in Cuttack. He came of a very rich family and was a brilliant student. Though he passed the Indian Civil Service (I. C. S) examination, he refused to accept service under the British government.

Soon he joined politics and became the Mayor of Calcutta Corporation. He also became the youngest Congress President. India was then ruled by the British Government. Subhash Chandra wanted India to be an independent country and made several plans to achieve this goal. So he was imprisoned by the British Government.

But he left the country in disguise and formed the I. N. A. (Indian National Army) to liberate India from the clutches of the British rulers. He fought great battles to achieve his mission. It is said that he died in an air crash. But people have doubts about it. Subhash Chandra is remembered as a great Indian patriot.

Subhash Chandra was a brilliant student. He stood second in the Matriculation Examination. He read in Presidency College and graduated from Scottish Church College. He stood 4th in the I.C.S. Examination in England. But he did not serve the British Government.

He rather joined the freedom movement of India. In 1930 Subhash Chandra Bose became the Mayor of Calcutta Municipal Corporation. He became the President of the Indian National Congress. But his differences with the Congress led him to start a new political party, Forward Bloc. During the Second World War he was kept interned in his own house. But he left in disguise.

He joined hands with enemies of British like Germany and Japan to get the British out of India. He formed the Azad Hind Fauj on July 5, 1943. His army invaded the British India. But the army had to retreat. Netaji was supposed to die in a plane crash in 1945. He is still alive in our hearts.

The name of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose is known to all. He was a great national patriot. He was born on 23 January 1897 at Cuttack in Odisha. Netaji’s father Janakinath Bose was a reputed lawyer of Cuttack and his mother Prabhavati Devi was a religious lady. She taught Netaji about India’s heritage in his boyhood.

Netaji was a bright student and got many scholarships. He passed the Entrance Examination with credit. In the I.C.S. Examination also he recorded very good marks. But he did not accept any job under the British.

He hated the foreign rulers by heart and wanted to make his motherland free from their rules. Soon, he decided to join India’s independence movement. He was influenced by Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das and regarded him as his political guru and guide. He was elected as the President of the Indian National Congress.

Later he left the party and set up Forward Bloc. He was behind the bars for several times but did not give up his intense love for his motherland. He went to japan and formed the Indian National Army (INA). His slogan “give me blood, and I shall give you freedom” filled people with patriotic feelings.

He was a true leader and in the Army, he was called Netaji. Some say Netaji died in a plane crash but others believe this great hero was still alive. The mystery of his death is still unsolved. The great sacrifice of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose for our country will be remembered forever.
