Welcome Speech for Children’s Day Celebration 1

Good Morning One and All! I take this wonderful opportunity to welcome our dear students on this propitious occasion of Children’s Day.

This day is very important in the life of a child as well as their parents. The day reminds us about our duties towards you all. You are like a tender buds, who in whichever way can be molded. This implies that you children are so innocent that any wrong kind of schooling can adversely affect your personality.

This is the right age when every child needs appropriate education, you need to be taught good things in life and you should learn from your mistakes; they are also your best teachers in life. Mistakes teach you to identify your weaknesses and overcome them. Children are important all over the world. So, Children’s Day is celebrated in various countries with equal pomp and show. United Nations, one of the biggest organizations in the world, too celebrates Children’s Day but on 20 th November every year.

In India we celebrate it on 14 th November due to a certain reason. The historical background associated with this date is that it happens to be Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru’s birth anniversary, who was also the first Prime Minister of India. He had a great love for children and was fond of spending his time with young kids like you all. Children affectionately referred him as Chacha Nehru. After his death in 1959, a decision was taken to celebrate Children’s Day on his birth anniversary; to commemorate his love for the children.

He believed that children are creation of god and their innocence melts anybody’s heart. A child’s sweet smile brings a big smile on your face automatically. It acts as a soothing balm to both parents and teachers. I still remember those days when I used to be tired from household work and as soon as I use to enter my class, my tiredness ended by seeing your happy smiles. School is considered to be second home for your children; we teachers not only impart education and knowledge but also become parents in certain circumstances as every child has a different talent. We nurture every seed and mould the child according to his strength and weaknesses.

Therefore, Teachers should not leave any opportunity to let this treasure of talent out of their students as children need encouragement both at home and school. Children’s day is celebrated with lots of fun and frolic activities like games, sports, indoor games, outdoor games, dance, drama play, national songs, speech, essay writing etc activities and all. This is the day which removes all the barriers against children and allows them to celebrate as they want. Students like you should be motivated by the teachers to show their talents on this occasion by participating in the quiz competitions or other type of competitions like painting, modern dress show, singing and cultural programs.

Good Morning Respected Principal, Teachers and My Dear Loving Students!

Today is a very auspicious event of Children’s Day, which is celebrated among all of us. As we all agree you children are the bright sunshine of the society, the seed of a plant that will nurture our country’s future.

Children’s day is celebrated all over the world to cherish and adore the innocence of children like you, to make you feel special for your role in the world and show you the positive side of being a child. In India Children’s Day is celebrated on 14 th  November which is also considered to be the birth anniversary of great Indian freedom fighter and our first Prime Minister of India, Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru.

His birth anniversary is celebrated as children’s day all over the country because of his immense love and affection for children. He was a change maker, not only in the freedom fight but also in social change. Our first Prime Minister was a man of high ideas, and believed in equality between both male and female. He strived towards making this country equal in all terms which includes equality in relation to wealth, education etc. He believed that the strength of a country, is its young people and children who help in developing our country through their new ideas and innovative methods.

This admirable ideology and love for children is the main cause that we celebrate Children’s Day on his birth anniversary, to pay him respect and tribute. It is not only a day to celebrate the work of our first Prime Minister, but also to make the children feel special and loved. It is celebrated every year to make everyone realize the importance of children and their thoughts which are very crucial for our country and its culture.

This day helps us to acknowledge the value of you all in our lives and how we need to take proper care of you, which not only includes love but keeping you away from social evils of society which have destroyed the fabric of the state. I wish that you all should never lose the innocence of your childhood and should never get influenced from this cruel world.

Children’s day is to ensure that it is our duty to provide you with a happy atmosphere at both home and school. We all understand that the incidents that are happening around us today, no one is safe and we all need to assure you of that precious safety. Children are being easy targets to rapidly growing crime as you can be handled easily. This kind of crime can only be restricted by providing education to all members of our society.

We all can make this day even more special by donating clothes and books to children of your age who are not able to afford education and basic healthcare. We all should collectively start this initiative and bring happiness in those people’s lives who do not have such kind of facilities which God has bestowed upon us.

Now I would want you all to enjoy various activities that we have planned for you on this wonderful occasion. Enjoy a fun filled day!

Welcome Speech for Children’s Day Celebration 3

A Very Good Morning to everyone gathered here to celebrate the Children’s Day today. I wish you all my dear students a very Happy Children’s Day. I, being the Vice Principal of this school welcome you all on this wonderful occasion.

At this juncture, I would take pleasure to deliver a speech as to why the birth anniversary of Pundit Nehru is celebrated as Children’s Day. It has been officially declared by the UN General Assembly to celebrate Children’s day on 20 th  November every year, yet it is celebrated on 14 th  November all over India annually on the account of birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru. This is the main historical background behind celebrating Children’s Day.

His birthday has been chosen to be celebrated as Children’s Day due to his great love, care and affection for the children. He wanted to be surrounded by children throughout his life and worked hard for the betterment of children and youth of the country just after we attained Independence.

Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru was very much enthusiastic and warm hearted towards children especially about their welfare, rights, education and overall improvement in order to make this country a developed nation. He was very much concerned about the health and welfare of the children in India, so he worked hard for them so that they could get the rights that they deserve. He was called as Chacha Nehru by the children because of his selfless affection to them.

You should remember that childhood is the best phase of life which you all should live happily without any complaints. This phase would never come back where you can live life without any responsibilities. After a certain point in time, when you all grow up, you would have to take care of everybody which will make you responsible and you lose your innocence. This phase also prepares you to be motivated and develop your ambitions which in turn would help you attain a successful career in life.

If children like you are unhealthy from mind and body, you cannot give your best to the nation in near future. So, the juvenile phase of your life is the most significant phase which every parent and teacher should nourish with their love, care and affection. As being the citizen of the country, we should understand our responsibilities and save the future of the nation.

Children’s Day is celebrated with lots of fun and activities like games, sports, indoor games, outdoor games, dance etc. in several schools and colleges. In a similar manner we also have contributed in making this day a happy one for you all by arranging fun filled activities. This is the day which removes all the barriers against children and allows them to celebrate as they want.

Students should be motivated by teachers to showcase their talents on this occasion by participating in distinctive competitions which also gives them an insight about their strengths and weaknesses. We want that you should cherish these wonderful moments for your entire lifetime which will ultimately fulfill our objective of sighting you as happy and content.

Welcome Speech for Children’s Day Celebration 4

Good Morning Everyone! I thank you all for being present on this beautiful occasion of Children’s Day. This day is celebrated every year on 14 th November.

We welcome our adorable students to this program which we have arranged in order to make you satisfied and happy. It’s once in a while when you all can do what you want. You are considered to be the building blocks of our country and will remain to be so. It’s important that every parent and teacher on this day should take an oath to protect our tender buds from all kinds of wrong doings happening around us. Crimes against children shatter us to bits and every human being on this earth should understand the value of a child.

You are the ones who in certain circumstances give us huge ideas in life. Your innocence melts everybody’s heart but still some people involve in crime in relation to young minds. The crime rate against children in India has been increasing at a rapid pace which leads me to advice you all to keep yourself alert at every moment in life. Be safe and secure from your end. It is our responsibility too to keep you safe and sound as school is believed to be your second home.

Every child born on this mother earth has the right to basic education and healthcare like you all deserve in your childhood, but this is not the scenario. There is certain alarming ratio that I need to make you all aware about. You might have seen young children on roads and traffic lights begging for food. Have you ever wondered why do they dwell in such kind of activity? The fact of the matter is there are huge numbers of children in India who do not attend schools, as their parents are not able to afford their schooling; which leads them to working as menial laborers.

Government of India has taken certain stringent measures to stop child labor but there are still several people who force children like you to work as laborers. If ever you see such a condition, then you should immediately inform the police which will make you a responsible citizen of our country. Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru, who was a famous statesman and first Prime Minister of our country too stressed on the fact that you all are the building blocks of our nation. If you unite together then you all can become a strong force and fight against social evils prevalent in our country which have the ability to destroy social fabric of our society.

You all being young minds can develop new ideas and take our country to new heights. It is the day which unites everyone together without any barriers in our heart and soul. Thus, on this special day of yours dear children, we teachers collectively wish you happy Children’s Day and pray to god that you all will be able to achieve your dreams and objectives without facing any obstacle in life and make your parents and teachers feel pompous of your success.

You can now enjoy the colorful events of the day.

A very good morning to my respected principal, teachers, and my dear friends. Today, on this lovely morning, I, name of the student, am here to deliver a short speech on Children’s Day

Children’s Day is observed on 14th November every year in India since 1954. The day has been chosen in the loving memory of the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s birthday who was also very fond of children. In ancient time, it was observed that children’s rights and freedom was being exploited by the people. Given the important role of children in shaping a nation’s future, an action was decided to be taken against the injustices on children. After thorough research and plenty of observations, the fellow demanded the collection of funds to save children in India. He took inspiration from the Flag Day observed in England on the birth anniversary of Queen Elizabeth. Following the same lines, Pandit Nehru’s birth anniversary was chosen as the required day for the collection of children's funds. It was in 1951, when 14th November was observed as Children’s Day and the process has continued since then.

As we all know, children are the future pillars of our nation. It is important to protect them and grow them in a loving environment to ensure that they end up becoming responsible citizens and loving people in their later lives. It is also true that a child’s personality is majorly influenced by their childhood trauma and abuse. This creates a negative impact on the development of the country since instead of taking part in the development of the nation, they end up becoming irresponsible and cruel citizens. Bringing change in the way a child is brought up can do wonders for society. Children are the future-builders, creators, and shapers. A nation’s future progress is completely dependent on children, the youth of the country. Hence, it becomes immensely important to protect the children and provide them with a safe and sound developing environment.

Governments, NGOs, and schools organize various events on this day to keep students happy and remind them about their importance and what they have to do in the future. And for the society, it acts as a reminder of the importance of children in society.

Sometimes, they're taken on an excursion, picnic, or educational tour. Acts, monologues, singing and dancing competitions, art competitions, and various such activities are organized by the schools to pass on the right message to their children and build beautiful humans out of them.

Long Speech on Children’s Day

The long speech on Children’s Day is attached below for school students. Read this speech carefully and pick the relevant and important lines to create a beautiful speech for your examinations or speech competitions.

In 1951, a United Nations Social Welfare member came across a study that revealed that there was no organization and awareness on protecting underprivileged children in India.

Children’s Day celebrations do not limit themselves to the collection of children’s funds. Over the years, it has expanded itself and the celebrations have started focusing on building awareness related to child crimes, exploitation of their rights, and many deadly diseases that are pretty common in children. There have been campaigns and events focused on protecting girl children and providing education to them, just like their male counterparts. But, providing education and building awareness is just not enough to protect our children and ensure that they have a happy and cheerful childhood. After this realization, various laws and schemes have been formed and implemented to protect children and work for their welfare. Now, various NGOs have also been established throughout the country to look after the disabled, underprivileged, and orphan children to ensure that their childhood is secured.

As we all know, children are the future pillars of our nation. It is important to protect them and grow them in a loving environment to ensure that they end up becoming responsible citizens and loving people in their later lives. Long Speech on Children’s Day

Long Speech on Teachers Day in English for students is helpful for students in grades 7-12. Let’s take a look at the Teachers Day Speech, one can speak about.

Greetings to everyone gathered here on the occasion of Children’s Day respected teachers, and my dear friends.

Children’s Day in India is celebrated every year on 14th November. This day is also called Bal Divas, “Bal” in Hindi means a “child”, and divas mean “day.” This day is also celebrated in honor of the birth anniversary of our first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru who was fondly called “Chacha Nehru” or “Chachaji” by children, he had a special connection with them and was always affectionate in their company. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was born on 14th November 1889, in Allahabad and was schooled at home under private tutors in his early life. This is his 132nd anniversary. After he breathed his last in 1964, a resolution was passed to celebrate his birthday as Bal Divas or Children’s Day, where all can revisit the child in them and celebrate their childlike qualities and remember the importance of keeping them intact.

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was the epitome of love towards children and was always devoted to working towards their betterment and welfare. A child when well nurtured builds a stronger nation. And this can be achieved through quality education, a child’s first school is their home, so parents play an important role in laying the foundation of discipline, honesty, and sincerity, and children with such qualities go on to excel in school and life and bring laurels to our nation. Many of our great freedom fighters credit their competencies and ability to their parents and teachers, similarly, one can take inspiration from them and follow their paths by giving due respect to parents and teachers equally as they play an essential role in shaping a child’s future. A child should be given complete freedom to unleash themselves and explore their interests and take the path of their calling. And this is possible only through proper education and holistic development.

A child should be treated and cared for in the kindest and affectionate way and Pandit Nehru deeply cared for their well being hence many laws were established for this purpose. The Indian Constitution’s Supreme Law guarantees that all under the age of 18 have children’s rights. This law advocates the right to be cared for by their parents or guardians, the right to education, the right to consume healthy food, and the right to feel safe and protected. Specially-abled children have the right to special care.

In his regime, he always focused on the vision of making India a world leader and that can be achieved only by nurturing the future of the country which are the children. He always believed in empowering young children and never clipping their wings. He said, “The children of today will make the India of tomorrow.” This Children’s Day let’s take a pledge to create a safe place for the future of our country and not threaten and hinder their growth.

Wish you all a Happy Children’s Day.

I welcome you all to the celebration of Children’s Day. This day is dedicated to children to commemorate the work and love put in by our first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, this marks his 132nd anniversary. Jawaharlal Nehru became our first Prime Minister in 1947 after India was declared an independent nation and he reigned for 16 years, and he always advocated for children’s rights for safety, health, and education. He was tutored privately with a tutor in his early years and he understood the importance of education and the good outcomes it can lead to.

He loved his time with children and children also were very fond of him as they referred to him as “Chacha Nehru” and “Chachaji”. He had a great vision for India, to make it into a world leader and he knew that was only possible if the young people are nurtured from childhood, by giving them the freedom to dream and have the basic amenities and the right to be protected and taken care of.

Among the basic rights for children education and health were of extreme importance and he ensured to enlighten people with the same philosophy and encouraged parents and teachers to give their children wings to fly and dream the future they want to create and allow room for mistakes and improvements as these qualities empower them to innovate and build a better nation. So let’s be the children our nation is proud of and create a better tomorrow for everyone around. I wish you all the best and a Happy Children’s Day.

Thank you.

There are already many schools that host a lot of activities including speeches, games, etc. There are even ones where they compete, either solo or in teams and the winners get prizes. Such events can give the kids a break from their studies and it may also be good for their education outside of the books.

Any event, occasion, or celebration needs a perfect welcome speech to settle the mood of the audience and set the tone for that day. A perfect welcome speech is not just a game starter, but a religious inclusion to mark the beginning of any ceremony. The audience gathers themselves mentally and connects better with a wonderful welcome note. For children’s day, any welcome speech like this is undoubtedly an immediate attention capturer—

Demo Speech

“If anything on this earth is as pure as the heart of God, then a child is His incarnation.

Good morning/afternoon/ evening to our respected teachers, honourable guests, and all my dear students present here, whose presence is just another great inspiration for me to begin this program and continue with it in full delight. Children are perhaps the most innocent beings on earth, a direct figurine of god’s grace, whose arrival on earth is a well-disposed plan of nature to preserve unblemished virtue unperturbed. Today, on the 14th of November, Chacha Nehru is not with us, but we, all through the country are following his legacy, his legacy of viewing children as the best creation on earth with unkempt care.

Today, children’s day is a bit more special than usual years. Founded on one such brightest morning of 14th November, this year our institution has marked its golden jubilee and also the decade of our organization, the ‘Lights’ that has been constantly supporting underprivileged children, orphans, and roadside potentials.

It is not just some years passing by, but a history created with a daring effort to influence women’s education and be the support system for the ignored and hated. Hence we will move on with this temper. To inaugurate our show today/tonight, I would like to welcome our respected principal sir, Mr. ( his name), Our honourable vice president, Mrs ( her name), our chairman, Mrs (her name), to light up this Diya and encourage everyone to vow their lives for serving little.”

Now, I will request our principal sir to share his memories that are so fundamental to the roots of this institution, his being one of the founding fathers of what our mission today is. Sir, the stage is all yours.

Principal’s Speech

“First of all, it’s a great joy to see a crowd full of faces, the faces of the future, who are tapping the real talents of our country. It is nostalgic to be transported to that evening when suddenly our committee decided to manifest their hopes for female education in the locality; my friend, lt. Mr. (his name) must have been very proud to see that now his locality girls are glowing futuristics and not premature child brides to middle-aged men.

I will not waste your enjoyment with age-old tales. But whatever the world is holding for you all, always remember you are the brainchild of a revolution of some determined people. Never stop yourself from taking up the hardest challenge. Go for it. The sun is there rising for you at the eastern horizon. God bless you all. Thank you.”

Now we will move straight to our events today/tonight. Allen Ginsberg has right said once that poetry is the one place where people can speak their original human minds. It is the outlet for people to say in public what is known in private. At the very beginning thus, we have a little yet the cutest recital by one of our budding talents of Lights. Please welcome our very sweet and dear (student’s name)  with a big round of applause.

After Recitation Performance

I can hardly believe that this is our same shy ten years old (student’s name). Such a beautiful performance and fluency of speech. Such a wonderful voice! Allen Ginsberg must have been thinking of a child like you when he remarked that poetry is an outlet for people in public. Thank you so much (student’s name).

And now join your hands for a gripping and wonderful dance performance by our senior students of higher secondary. They have been quite an inspiration for us since for the first time they have formed a cool musical band for themselves. Besides being efficient and award-wining dancers, they are prolific in singing and also several instruments. A big round of applause to welcome them!

After Dance Performance

That was lovely and so colourful. It is just like our dear students, vibrant, jubilant, and always in a rush of adrenaline. Thank you so much for managing your time and preparing this beautiful presentation even while topping your boards.

And now it’s time for some songs. Jonathan Edwards once said that the expression of sweet concord of mind is done only through music. Undoubtedly it is so true. So our school has some uniquely talented music teachers whose lilt of music is no less than a hundred Kokilas. I will request our music teachers to share with our students a melodious foot-tapping note.

After The Performance

Thank you so much, ma’am. That was so beautiful and heart-touching. I am sure that like always our students have been overwhelmed by your musical gifts.

And now for another talented exhibition from our Lights. A choir consisting of about twenty students has been constantly trained beyond their educational curriculum. We intend in making not just some bookworms but humans with several proficient skills to elevate their daily morale. This choir is as promising as ever. Not just in our school, but even on inter-school levels, they have been the recipients of several awards and recognitions. So it is foolish to deprive this afternoon/evening without their instrumental delicacy. A big round of applause for Polyphony.

After Choir Performance

Our founders have possibly received the greatest homage in the due course. Such wonderful lilt of music, the balance of flutes, drums, the orchestral rendition, and the young musical voices! A simple Bollywood song and yet so amazingly executed. Thank you so much Polyphony for this amazing gift.

Well, well, well! Now, let’s do something engaging and fun! What do you say, kids? Yes! We will now be doing a few rounds of quizzes. We had informed our students about this in advance and I have the list of names of the students who chose to participate in the quiz today. I will be calling out the names now. I request the participants to please come up on the stage and take their positions. Thank you.

[Reading out the names]

We have all the participants on the stage now. I will now request our Physics teacher, Mr/ Ms [name], to please come up on the stage and conduct the quiz. Thank you.

After the event

That was amazing! You all are very sharp and witty! Thank you. You may now take your seats with the audience. We will call you back for prize distribution later. Everyone, please give these amazing kids a huge round of applause!

Now, this is the segment we all had been waiting for! The fancy dress competition! I am super excited to see how the kiddos have dressed up! I will be calling out the names of the participants and I ask their class teachers to please bring them on the stage. But first, I request our respected principal, Mr/ Ms [full name], to please come up on the stage. He/ she will be judging this event. Thank you.

Now take a short break from the main course of the program and let us divert to something different. This year our students have made a wonderful exhibition of their merits in several examinations, like the annual examinations, the secondary and the higher secondary boards examination, NCERT, joint entrance, and also University examinations. The passing ranking for secondary boards is 85%, while in higher secondary our institution has secured a 100% passing ranking.

10 students from our institution have secured JEE MAINS and many are currently pursuing several promising careers in management studies, law, finance, banking, and the corporate sectors. We utilize this day hence for distributing prizes to all these worthy students who have been glorifying our standards everywhere. I will request our chief guest, Mrs.(her name) to honour our pupils with the prizes.

After Prize Distribution

I was wondering how gradually this school is developing. So many promising faces and their confidence is getting so well-reflected. I pray to God that you always break through any barrier in your life

Now for our little hopes from Lights, we have organized a simple charity mission for them. They cannot be spared all banished from the main social flow. Our principal sir, Mr. (his name) will hand over to them, some tokens of blessings through some stationery materials, food packets, and clothes. Sir, the stage is all yours.

After Charity Donations

Thank you so much, sir, once again.

And now our secondary students and students from Lights have collaborated to present a dance drama. They have selected Tasher Desh By Rabindranath Tagore, which is seminal and also many often children have preferred it for these amazing costumes and decorations, the voice of the artists like a Toyland story. I will announce the names of the participants one by one and in characters, they will be performing in. They are almost done preparing themselves. I will call them up on the stage and then vacate it for its necessary preparations.

After Dance Drama

I am just trembling, I do not know what to say. That was so pitch-perfect! We all are left speechless. I can assure you that we h. What is amazing is that I forgot they are some 16 years old students, but on stage, they are performing like professional theatricals. It cannot be explained how overwhelming every voice was. Thank you so much. I believe nothing could have made this afternoon/evening so much grand.

From the smallest ant to the greatest creation, all have to end to welcome something more beautiful for tomorrow. Today we are time-bound. Yet the show must go on, the journey of our young talents as the future of this country. On this note, I bless them with a happy and successful career. Thank you, everyone. Goodnight/ Have a good day.

Welcome Speech in English: Best Samples, Examples & Tips

Why are welcome speeches necessary.

Most of the gatherings and ceremonies are held with a purpose. They are either planned events or spontaneous gatherings. In both cases, it is important to know how to organize such events. We must prepare ourselves to conduct the event properly.

Let us imagine that you are hosting a gathering. You have prepared everything, including food, drinks, decorations, etc., and even set up the stage. However, you forgot one thing – a welcome speech. What happens next? Do you start talking immediately without waiting for everyone to arrive? Of course not!

The same goes for a meeting. How many times did you attend meetings where people didn’t introduce themselves? Or worse, they talked about themselves too much during the meeting. In addition, some speakers talk directly to the audience without introducing themselves. This makes it difficult for the attendees to comprehend the event’s process and connect with its objectives.

So why is a welcome speech in English needed? To begin with, it is necessary to give a brief overview of the topic. Secondly, it helps to provide information about the organization and its history. Thirdly, it allows us to highlight our achievements. And finally, it creates a good impression on guests. Otherwise, they might ask questions like “Where is this event going?”.

Significance of welcome speech

The significance of the welcome speech won’t be apparent without understanding what makes up the history of an event. An event can be defined as a sequence of activities carried out over a period of time. These activities are usually organized into stages, each with a specific purpose. For example, an event may start with opening remarks, followed by a keynote address, and finally concluded with closing remarks. Each stage of an event has a different set of responsibilities.

In the case of a welcoming ceremony, the welcome speech is considered to be one of the most important parts of the whole gathering. In fact, it is the most crucial aspect of the entire event. This is because the welcome speech serves several purposes.

First, it introduces the guests to the host. Second, it provides information regarding the upcoming program. Third, it creates a positive impression among the attendees. Fourth, it helps in creating a sense of unity among the participants. Fifth, it helps in establishing good relations between the hosts and the guests. And finally, it ensures that the guest feels comfortable during the occasion.

Objectives of a Welcome Speech in English

The objective of a welcome speech in English is to introduce yourself and the rest of the attendees at the event. This is done through a short introduction about who you are, what you do, why you’re attending, etc. The following are the objectives of a welcome speech:

  • Introduce yourself
  • Provide Information regarding the event
  • Create a positive impression among attendees
  • Establish good relations between hosts and guests
  • Ensure guests feel comfortable during the event
  • Help build unity among participants
  • Explain the purpose of the meeting/event
  • Set up the agenda for the meeting/event
  • Make introductions
  • Give background info about the organization
  • Highlight achievements (if any)

Welcome Address in English For Students

It’s natural for attendees of any event to expect an introductory speech, which sets the tone for the occasion. A host can easily command attention with an effective welcome. Even the longest speeches have the capacity to hold an audience’s interest when delivered in a catchy and impressive manner.

A short opening speech for a commencement ceremony

To everyone present, good morning. A very warm welcome to our respected faculty, our remarkable parents, and our dear students. Special recognition is due for our Chief Guest (name of chief guest). It’s a true honor to have such a successful alumnus (or state the chief guest’s job title). We express our biggest gratitude for accepting our invitation to deliver today’s keynote speech.

I’m standing here as a lucky witness to our dear students’ academic journey. Our school is very proud of everything you have accomplished and your small but not minor contributions to society. You’ve brought prestige to our name and deserve the title of one of our school’s most successful and dedicated batch of students.

With your teachers’ guidance and parents’ support, you’ve reached remarkable heights. I’d like to take this time to extend my gratitude to our faculty and our parents, for understanding, encouraging, and nurturing our students.

Graduates, you are about to start another chapter in your life. An exciting yet scary period. From now on, you will face more challenges, but I am confident that you’re adequately equipped to face any tribulation that comes your way. Remember that with conviction and self-belief, no mountain is too high to climb. The laurels you’ve brought back to our school are only the beginning. I am genuinely excited to see the astonishing feats that your futures hold.

A long opening speech for a commencement ceremony

Good morning everyone! I would like to extend a very warm welcome to our esteemed faculty, astounding parents, and our dear students. I’m honored to open our commencement ceremony and stand here where many of our accomplished alumni who I look up to once stood.

I extend a particularly warm welcome to our Chief Guest (name of chief guest), who as one of our outstanding alumni, has really set the standard for exemplary accomplishments.

(enumerate key achievements of chief guest)

Her/his professional and philanthropic endeavors attest to their upbringing and the values she/he lives by. We want to thank you for responding positively to our invitation to be the keynote speaker on today’s auspicious occasion.

As another academic year reaches its end, I’m sure that our dear students are anxious and also filled with hope and excitement. This is their final school event in our renowned school/college/university (name of school). But hopefully, it won’t be their last awarding ceremony.

We are extremely fortunate to have such a talented and passionate group of graduates who have earned laurels in honor of our school, adding to its distinction and great reputation. The amazing encouragement and unconditional support of our parents throughout the school year have been extraordinary. They have stood by their children in every school event. Our teachers and staff are truly thankful for the trust you’ve given us. Your children’s journey wouldn’t have been a huge success without your guidance and nurture.

It’s been a remarkable experience to witness the passion and commitment our students have exhibited in all their undertakings. I am filled with certitude that you will achieve whatever goal you’ve set your mind on. Adulthood is going to be jammed with more trials you’ve never imagined before. I am kidding. Maybe. Joking aside, you will win as long as you work hard and believe in yourself.

Remember that you are valuable and take every challenge you face as an opportunity to prove your worth and get better. Also, surround yourselves with people who are good for your well-being and treat them the way you’d like to be treated.

Maintain your sense of humor because not much else will get you through when the going gets rough. Life can be very special and you can truly make a mark, which doesn’t always need to have global proportions. Be accountable for your mistakes and learn from them. Keep nurturing your passions and remain as driven, bright, and astonishing as you are today. You are all wonderful and I can’t wait to see your future accomplishments, because they will be great.

Thank you and do us proud!

Our steadfast yet affectionate teachers should be our role models. They inspire us daily and motivate us to reach our greatest potential. They impart wisdom so that we don’t only excel academically, but as good people and responsible members of our society.

Sample of Welcome Speech for a Goodbye Get-together

Good evening everyone!

Welcome to my farewell party. I know, I know. You all said you’re sorry to see me go, but that you all would need food and entertainment first to deal with your sadness. So here we are. I shall deliver.

As the Semisonic song goes “Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.” And so it is with great gratitude that the VP in Japan decided to retire early, so the end of his role can mark the beginning of mine. To Toni Takitani, thanks for deciding you’ve had enough!

Kidding aside, I’d like to thank my friends who made this very corporate event a huge success. Look at this, my goodness!

Most importantly, I want to impart my profound gratitude to my boss (name of the boss). Without you, this party won’t have a band. I couldn’t ask for a better mentor. Or I could, but none of them would have changed my life as positively as you have. It saddens me to leave you the most, but it comforts me that you were my biggest source of encouragement to go. Or it may have been your plan all along. Genius!

So to everyone who came, thank you. I’ll have time to thank you properly later, but for now, let’s eat!

Your interest and patronage are very much appreciated.

A great welcome to all our extraordinary employees and staff members, some of whom have worked and grown along our company’s 23-year history. A big welcome, too, to our interns who have recently joined and brightened our corporate offices.

Today marks the 15th annual MPBC and it’s an honor to be a host in this glorious congress. I myself will be staying for the conference’s entirety to learn what I can about sustainable energy systems and their various implications and impact on the future of our planet.

The activities today will include an overview of all the forums, seminars, and exhibits around the MPBC complex. Second, we will have the inauguration of the new bio-dome on the grounds where we will also honor this year’s retirees. The afternoon’s seminars will kick off after lunch, and I encourage you to attend the discussions and learn about our future plans and projects. Finally, I’d like to encourage everyone to help yourselves to the snack stations in the hallway. Refreshments and sandwiches are on us for the duration of the conference.

I won’t keep you long and let’s begin the day. I wish all of you a valuable and wonderful time! Thank you.

  • Look up welcome speech quotes and choose the best one to use somewhere in your speech.

Welcoming the Chief Guest with a Short Speech

It’s a great honor to welcome our Chief guest and tonight’s keynote speaker. I was worried at first about how to introduce (title and name of Chief guest) because any introduction would pale in comparison to the reality and immensity of her/his accomplishments.

(Enumerate the main accomplishments of the chief guest).

She/he is the ultimate inspiration for young professionals everywhere who want to succeed in the field of international trade. Here to inspire us with her career journey and all the experiences she accumulated along the day, join me in giving a round of applause to (title and name of chief guest).

Welcoming the Chief Guest (Longer Version of the Speech)

Introducing our next attendee is a great pleasure of mine. When she/he accepted our invitation to be tonight’s Chief guest and keynote speaker, I almost jumped for joy. Then I realized I would naturally receive the task of introducing her/him. At first, this gave me great anxiety. How would I be able to pull it off and deliver an introduction that would give her background justice? Then I thought, no introduction would ever compare, so it was foolish to aim for success when failure is guaranteed. So I decided to just do it. Our chief guest has accomplished the following, to name a few:

As I looked at her/his professional and personal successes, I realized here is a woman/man who was faced many times with the certainty of failure but had given her circumstances a grad twist by attaining success against all odds. Then I thought, perhaps I should aim for success in this speech, after all.

She/he is an inspiration to many, not only for all the fields of expertise she has earned and the extreme success that went with the process, but she/he has also set the benchmark for philanthropy and good deeds. She/he has done this quietly, too, and she/he might strangle me for revealing it to the public. I didn’t even know half of the wonderful things she/he has done for our community before my research.

Without further ado, and here to inspire us with her wisdom and grand skill, join me in welcoming our Chief guest (title and name of chief guest).

Welcome Speech for Parents

Hi everyone!

As host and brother of the groom, I’d like to take this time to introduce the parents of the bride. Without them, my brother wouldn’t be the lucky and happy man he is today. More than that, I have witnessed how they accepted my brother and treated him as a son long before the engagement. I often tag along on family trips and have spent hours of wonderful conversations with them. Apart from my own parents, they are two of the most affectionate and hospitable people I’ve ever met. If I could meet a woman whose parents are just like them, I’d consider myself half as lucky as my brother.

Let’s give a round of applause for (names of the bride’s parents). Thank you for embracing my brother into the fold.

Welcome Speech Samples for National Holidays

I am very happy to be a member of such an elite school where we learned from such great professors who teach us beyond the boundaries of the ordinary classroom. They’re also the minds and hands behind such a big event every year. I’d like to use this chance to organize such a wonderful event this year. It’s also a great pleasure of mine to introduce our Chief Guest.

Never 3, unless the speaker is trying to be funny. * The contents are relevant to the event. * It has an impressive anecdote. * The length doesn’t exceed 5 minutes.

The last segment of this article contains tips on welcoming chief guests, esteemed guests, or guests of honor. The tips contained here can be divided into things to consider while drafting the welcome speech, and things to do at the event itself when meeting the chief guest.

A simple thank you would suffice. Make sure you reiterate your gratitude. Some welcome speeches can end with a line that welcomes the guest of honor.

Depending on the context, a welcome speech doesn’t always need to be impressive. In some situations, a straightforward introduction is all you need. However, in some circumstances like commencement ceremonies, farewell parties, dinners, and some others, the audience is prepared to listen to long speeches. In this case, the speech needs to catch the attention of the attendees and maintain their interest. An impressive welcome speech often has an emotional element. Not just parroting big words to describe a person’s achievements or flatter them. Try to use humor if you’re funny by nature or if you can deliver the punchline well. Use popular quotes in your speech. Tell anecdotes relevant to the attendees. Or reveal an epiphany. These are how you should draft a welcome speech set to impress.

Make sure that it is relevant to the content of your welcome speech or the point you’re making. You can use phrases such as the following: * According to… * As the old saying goes… * There’s a quote that has always stuck with me… * Events like this always remind me of one of my favorite quotes… Try to find quotes that are unique and not cliche. You can find some in the lyrics of contemporary music, or lines and dialogues from books and movies, and so on.

Greetings to everyone present here on this auspicious occasion of Children’s Day. It is celebrated every year on 14 November which marks the birth of our beloved late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. He reigned for 16 years during which he always encouraged for Children’s rights, protection, health and schooling. He was tutored privately with a coach in his early years and he understood the significance of education and the impact it can leave in a person’s life. He loved his time with youngsters and kids also were keen on him as they cited him as “Chacha Nehru '' .

He had a wonderful vision for India to become a global leader. He recognized that this was only possible if the youth were nurtured from an early age and given the freedom to dream and access to their fundamental rights. Education and health were of utmost importance and he emphasised the importance of these rights to the people. He encouraged parents and teachers to foster creativity and openness to ideas in children. Let us honour the beliefs of our beloved Prime Minister and work towards making our nation proud. The future lies in our hands. I wish everyone here a Happy Children's Day.

Welcome to the Children's Day celebration on November 14, also known as Bal Divas in Hindi (Bal meaning "Child" and Divas meaning "Day"). This day honors Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, affectionately referred to as Chacha Nehru, who was fond of children and had a special connection with them. He was born in Allahabad in 1889 and educated by private tutors in his childhood. After his passing in 1964, his birthday was declared Children's Day to celebrate the child within us, remember the importance of childlike qualities and revisit our inner child.

Nehru dedicated his life to the betterment and welfare of children, leading to the creation of various laws, including the protection of children's rights under the Indian Constitution. All children under 18 have the right to be cared for by guardians and parents until the age of 18, and differently-abled children have the right to special care.

The belief that Chacha Nehru had in us is reflected in the faith that our parents and teachers have in us. Children's Day is a tribute to Chacha Nehru's beliefs about the significance of children for the growth and development of a nation. To honor and cherish his beliefs, we should strive to be the best versions of ourselves.

A very Happy Children’s day to everyone. Thank you.

The fastest and best way to get your speech done is to:

  • then download, print and complete the welcome speech planner .
  • and lastly, use the notes you made in the planner to write your welcome speech . To help with that, you can download and print the outline of my example welcome speech to use.  Edit, and add your information to make the speech your own.

The welcome speech template

To be effective your welcome speech needs to meet expected, as well as any specific, requirements dictated by the occasion.

The 6 standard welcome speech content ingredients

A woman with a cookbook reading a welcome speech recipe. Plus, a list of ingredients.

There are six common or standard content items in a good welcome speech.

  • Greetings to welcome everyone and thanking them for coming along.
  • Acknowledgement of special guests, if there are any.
  • An introduction of the event itself and a brief overview of special highlights the audience will want to know about.
  • Any important housekeeping information, for instance: where the bathrooms are, where lunch will be served and when...
  • An introduction for the next speaker, if there is one.
  • Thanking everyone for coming once more and then concluding having made everybody feel at ease, eagerly anticipating what is to come.

Numbers 1, 3, and 6 are basic essentials you cannot do without. Numbers 2, 4 and 5 may, or may not, be applicable. Pick what you need from them to fit your occasion.

dividing line dark green

Short sample welcome speech for a conference

Now let's put all six ingredients into an example of a short welcome speech to open a conference that you can adapt for your own speech.

* (This speech is pure fiction! I made it up to show you how it's done. You'll see its tone is formal rather than informal to fit the occasion. I don't think there is a group called Parents United. However, there are others with a similar mission: 10 Inspiring Organizations that Promote Literacy and Education .)

Example welcome speech - "Readers by Right"

"Sue-Ellen Thomas, Jim Smith, Jane Brown and all of our guests, good morning!

My name is April Molloy, and it's my privilege and great pleasure on behalf of Parents United to welcome you all here today.

We are delighted to have you with us to participate and share in this special occasion, our 5th annual Children's Day Conference. Thank you for coming. That many of you have willingly traveled long distances to be here serves as a reminder to us all just how important our work is.

Quote extract: We want all children, regardless of race, creed or circumstance to achieve their full potential.

Parents United is committed to actively raising the quality of life for every child. We want all children, regardless of race, creed or circumstance to achieve their full potential. Our task is to make it possible. Our mission is to provide practical, step by step assistance.

This year our theme is literacy. We've named the day 'Readers by Right'.

Thanks to the 1948 United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, we are aware of 'rights' in many spheres, including education.  Article 26 declared it should be compulsory and free for children.

That goal is as pertinent today as it was then. And it's a goal I know we all share - the full development of every child. As a body, Parents United recognizes good reading skills established in childhood as the foundation of fulfilling, and ongoing education.

Quote extract: Jim and Jane bring their passion and knowledge of how to reach those in our communities who are frequently overlooked or bypassed.

We are honored to have Sue-Ellen Thomas, Jim Smith and Jane Brown with us today. All three are esteemed specialists in teaching young children to read.

Sue-Ellen has worked for a long time with educational authorities to establish programs putting in place necessary pre-reading skills. Her hard work needs no introduction. The results speak for themselves.

Jim and Jane bring their passion, and knowledge of how to reach those in our communities who are frequently overlooked or bypassed. Their work among disadvantaged English-as-a-second-language families has bridged gaps that were deep dark chasms.

Prepare yourself to be challenged, excited and inspired.

And before I handover to Lesley Watts, our coordinator for 'Readers by Right', who will outline the day's various events, I want to say once more on behalf of the Parents United organizing committee, welcome. It's wonderful to see so many of you here."

Get your welcome speech started

To shortcut wondering, "Should I say this?" or "Maybe I should say that?" and "Then again there's also ...", I have a very simple solution for you.

Get yourself a printable welcome speech planner

Illustration of an audience listening intently with text overlay saying: Click to download a welcome speech planner

Download and print my  special greeting address planner .

It covers ALL the necessary ingredients that go into preparing a successful welcome speech. It's simple to use and easily filled out. Once it's done, writing your speech will be a lot less hassle as you'll have the core content ready to work with.

Writing your welcome speech

Tips to help you get your speech right.

When you're entering information into your speech planner:

  • ensure you've got all the names of individuals or special guests you need to mention specifically and, that you know how to pronounce each of them. Also check that you know and use their preferred pronouns: them/they, she/her, he/him...
  • double check the remarks you're going to make about them, or anything else, are factually correct.

Use your introduction of your guests/or the event, as a "teaser" for what is going to come. It will help create anticipation in the audience. Don't ruin it by giving too much away! Just enough to tempt and no more.

Keep it brief. One to two minutes is generally sufficient.

(The word count of my sample welcome speech is 357. It will take approximately 2 minutes to say .)

Use the S-S-S formula for success: Short, Simple and Sincere. Your listeners will appreciate it.

Get a hand with vocabulary

If you're stuck for words, here's a large selection of  adaptable welcoming phrases with example s entences.  Reading through them could help you to find exactly what you want.

What does a good welcome speech do?

Audience members listening intently.

An effective welcome speech has three important functions. It:

  • signals the official beginning of an event . It says to the audience, hush, sit down, stop talking and listen. What you came for is starting!
  • sets the tone for the occasion through the choice of language used . For example, using light-hearted and informal words to welcome guests to a dear friend's birthday party may be completely appropriate.  However, the same type of language to welcome family and friends to a memorial service is unlikely to be. In that setting, people generally expect a more solemn and formal word choice. They could be deeply offended and think the use of casual language is disrespectful.  Understanding and getting tone right is a key element in the overall success of your welcome speech.
  • unites the audience . It draws everyone together in the common purpose at the heart of the occasion. For example, at a birthday party, the welcome speech invites everyone to join in celebrating the person whose birthday it is. The welcome speech opening a specialist conference will affirm its principal purpose: the coming together of people with mutual interests to meet and share new knowledge. Or if a welcome speech is given to newcomers in a workplace, club or educational setting, its purpose is to give an introductory overview of how things work to help them feel more at ease in their new situation - to help them develop a sense of belonging.

Getting the tone right for an event

What is tone.

Tone is the combined impact of the words chosen to express something, with how they are structured and, delivered.  All three elements come together to create tone * .

Get tone wrong, and your welcome speech is a disaster.

Get it right, and it's a triumph!

(Yes, that's hyperbole but I'm sure you get the idea. ☺)

* Tone - a mood, quality or feeling

How to choose the right words

The beginning of getting tone right is to think about your audience and the event itself. Your goal is to unite and bring them together in the main purpose at the core of the occasion. What type of language will do that most appropriately and easily?

Infographic illustrating the principal differences between formal and informal language to create tone

To answer that question, think about the common interest everybody shares - the principal reason behind them getting together.  It will help guide your language choice.

Is it a fun event like a birthday party for close friends and family? If so, then informal language is likely to be the most apt.

You might hear something along the lines of: "Well, here we all are! The big day has finally arrived. Jean-Marie is 50! Half a century! How on earth did that happen?"

If it's a remembrance service for someone who has recently died, the language you're likely to hear is more formal.

For example: "Friends, family, colleagues, thank you for joining us today to celebrate and give thanks for our dear Jean-Marie. Your presence is gratefully appreciated."

What is appropriate? What is expected?  Do spend some time thinking tone through. Misunderstanding and getting it wrong can be very embarrassing for everyone. If in doubt, ask someone whose opinion you trust.

short welcome speech for children's day celebration

Children’s Day Speech for Student and Children

Children’s day speech.

Children’s Day Speech – The mid of November is a very special occasion for us. Every year we celebrate 14th November as Children’s day. We celebrate it because it’s the birthday of our first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru . His bond and fondness with children are legendary.

Children's Day Speech

How We Celebrate Children’s Day?

In schools and institutions is a day of fun, most of the schools organize several entertainment programs and exciting competitions for the children. However, the day is incomplete without a reflection of the ideas and values that Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru lived by.

He has come from a very fortunate background but it did not affect his attitude. Also, his family wealth was enough to have him a place of honor in British India. Still, he chose to be at the side of Mahatma Gandhi and become an important part of the freedom struggle.

Moreover, he dedicated himself completely for the cause of the nation, from the Civil disobedience movement to Satyagraha. From jail terms to negotiating the terms of our independence he was there. He has shown us a path that can help us to reclaim our rightful position as leaders of the world.

His Personal life

He has set an excellent example for the youngsters, parents, and teachers of our country. In this era of technology, we all have complaints and most of the lack of time. Nehruji proves that all these barriers have been built up by our minds.

In 1928, he was busy attending to the work of the Congress, and call for the Purna Swaraj was a hopeful spark and at that time his 10-year-old daughter Indira was studying in Mussoorie.

However, the great man manages to shape the mind of his young daughter. The letter that he wrote to his daughter is what we now know as “Letters From A Father To His Daughter”. Which gave us the dynamic leader Indira Gandhi.

Even though his imprisonment term he manages ton pen down one of the finest books of Indian history- The Discovery of India. All these examples are enough to motivate teachers and parents. Nehruji’s life encounter can show parents, teachers, and thinkers to shape up the young mind and lead them to greatness.

The Bitter Truth of Today

Today, the children of our country are fighting for basic healthcare and education. On this occasion, I would like to put forward some alarming data. In the Asian continent, India is the leading country when it comes to the employment of child labor.

Moreover, around 33 million children are working in various industries which are about the firth of child labor working worldwide. Also, many of these children are working in hazardous industries such as bangle making, matchbox making, precious stone cutting, etc.

By not making an effort to stop child labor and by not making primary education available to each child we are entrusting their future and our own into darkness. When each one of us makes a concrete effort towards this evil, only then we can make our country successful and great just like Nehruji, Mahatma Gandhi and other leaders had envisioned.

To sum it up, I extend my warmest greetings and wishes you all a Happy Children’s Day. In addition, let’s celebrate this day with joy and fully appreciate the gift of childhood that has been given to us. However, let us also remember the great responsibility that is ours towards this society and a better India.

Feeling stuck and not being able to find just the right words to introduce events is so irritating that it could make you smash your own head (by personal experiences; wink). A welcome could either cheer them up or make them leave the event and rather have cozy sleep at home . Martin Luther King, in 1943, delivered a speech “I have a dream” and that still doesn’t fail to inspire people.

Short Welcome Speech Samples That You Can Use-19

It is simply not possible for everyone to come up with the right kind of words to use in a welcome speech. It is something that one has to plan and think about so that the right tone is set for the person you are welcoming to make his or her speech. Plus care has to be taken to ensure that none of the vital details are missed but at the same time, the speech cannot be too long. It is not as simple as writing a heart melting long distance relationship quote and requires a lot more consideration.

Focus on the TONE While Delivering the Introductory Speech For an Event

Short Welcome Speech Samples That You Can Use

Understanding the basic idea and being able to think about the feel is really important in order to make the listener feel connected. Make sure they don’t yawn or even doesn’t end up rolling on the floor laughing too! Your speech should be making them feel eager to know what going to come up next. If at all it is the professional conference that you are conducting, you can’t pour in too much fun in your speech but a family function demands the same. Choosing tone and focus on how you talk to the audience will vary with the different types of event. Decide if its “Howz it going peepz?” event or “Blesses morning, ladies and gentlemen.” event. A few Maid of Honor Speeches if at all you are thinking to make the #Bigday special for your BFF.

Important Points to Consider while Giving Welcome Speech For an Event

Short Welcome Speech Samples That You Can Use

  • What is the purpose of the event and what it aims to achieve out of it? The objective, unless made clear to the audience, leaves the speech incomplete. Be specific as you introduce the event and its significance ’cause being brief helps people register it seriously. Tempting them is all you have to do and then stop – make them feel excited about the event.
  • Welcome speech must address all the guests and the chief guests of the event (if any) thanking them for being present and giving the auspicious event their valuable attention.
  • Make proper introductions of the Chief guests and hosts along with the motive of the function to achieve more attention and appreciation. Make sure you have all the names beforehand and you know how to pronounce them correctly.

SSS Mantra for Appreciable Hosting

Short-Simple-Sincere, it should be! The speech better not exceed a minute or two. Use simple and understandable language along with a sincere tone and vocab as to make sure your audience gets impressed by your way of expression.

Welcome Speech On Children’s Day : Children’s Day is just around the corner. Kids always look forward to the celebration of this occasion since it invites a more special treatment for them. Usually, the day is celebrated in schools with the most zeal and enthusiasm since it is a very common place to find children. Additionally, there are many organisations that would arrange for a celebratory event. If you are also participating in any such jollification and have to deliver a welcome speech in English, this article will thoroughly help you.

Here we have provided a short, and long speech which you can refer to. You can use them to structure your own Welcome Speech On Children’s Day and get an idea of how your speech should sound on the occasion.

Welcome Speech On Children’s Day Celebration in English

In India, the day celebrating Children is related to the very first Prime Minister. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who happened to be the first Indian PM, was born on 14 November 2022. It was known that he used to love children and was mesmerised by them every time. It was his vision that always focused on children, as he firmly believed that they were the ones who would shape society in the future. Thus, he always promoted children’s welfare and education.

The perspective of Nehru that children in India held in their minds was also adorable as he was popularly recognised as “Chacha Nehru”. Earlier, Children’s Day in India was celebrated on 31 July. It was not until 1957 that Nehru’s birthdate was observed as Children’s Day. In 1951, Nehru’s Day was declared Flag Day in order to collect funds for the welfare purpose of Children. Since 14 November was facilitated already due to his birthday, it was further observed that children were very enthusiastic and participated actively in the commemoration. Thus, it was finalised in 1957 that 14 November would be celebrated as Children’s Day. 14 November is a nationally recognized event and is not a registered holiday.

Children’s Day in different parts of the world is eulogised on distinctive days. United Nations observes 1 June as the occasion. However, like India, various other countries memorialize the Day of Children depending on their discrete reasons. Japan considers 5 June as Children’s Day of their historical tradition.

Whereas, Myanmar aims to felicitate the sacrifices and efforts of their leader Aung San by celebrating the occasion on 13 February which happens to be his birth anniversary. In the case of Pakistan, 16 December is remembered as Children’s Day when the National Assembly observed it to commemorate the martyrdom of 150 teachers and students of Peshawar Amry School. Similarly, it differs for various countries.

Short English Welcome Speech on Children’s Day

Hi. I would warmly like to welcome each one of you present here, today. It is a day we all are very grateful for. It is the occasion where we get to honour the younger generations who will shape the future of our nation. You all sit here, drowned in innocence and your adorable mindfulness. The world is out there awaiting your flight of freedom and success. Time moves very fast and as humans, all we can do is absorb the inevitable changes. But, these are the golden days that never return. Being a child is definitely the most beautiful time of life. We do not have a lot of responsibilities laid on us and we are very much away from political, social, physical, and emotional stress. There is no scope for anxious feelings like embarrassment as children are accepted as they are. This makes a child so full of life.

When we grow up, we tend to forget that we need to be accepting and not dominatingly wanting to change human nature. This is the biggest trap older generations have always fallen into. I hope you observe our wrongdoings and create a world as pure as your candid selves. May you get all the happiness in the world. But now, let us all quickly move on to celebrate the innocence, purity, and generosity you all impact this world with. I am again thankful for your presence. I hope you will enjoy all this that we have planned for you today. Let us all celebrate you!

Long Welcome Speech On Children’s Day Celebration in English

Good Morning/ Afternoon/ Evening to everyone present here. Today we are celebrating the most important tier of society, which is, children. We have all gathered here to felicitate the younger generations on the Birth Anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. He truly believed in the welfare of the Children in a country. He was always found rushing back at ideas that focused on the growth and welfare of kids.

As a result, he was one of the most loved politicians among children. His vision was to raise awareness about the rights, education, and welfare of children. We too believe the same. Younger generations need to get all that they deserve. They need to be kept safe and preserved. It is important that their upbringing is done in a manner that they turn out to be adults who are rational and kind. The future of this country and the earth depends on how the children will act ahead.

When I look at young all, I observe innocence and candour. It is very crucial to sustain these attributes when you are growing up. The world might seem like a complicated place to be in. But, you must always remember that we are all in this together and if not anything, you have the support of each other.

Thus, you must always seek the assistance of your fellow human beings and when you are asked for help, you should deliver your honest abutment. We often forget as a society that life is not about changing people but changing ourselves for the betterment of the world. Bring the change you want to see in people and promote peace. You are a generation which can observe the consequences of the mistakes that the older generations. You have to just avoid doing the same. You need to learn from our failures and shape this society into a much more beautiful place for what is coming next.

Some of you are privileged while some of you are not. Your households are different, and so are your journeys. Do not compare yourself to anyone around you and always be your real self. This will build a society which is honest and genuine. Today, I feel profoundly enlightened and relieved to see a generation that is much smarter, kinder, and more balanced than the older ones.

Keep being the same. It is not a worry about how this world will turn out to be since I have this strong feeling that you all will make it a rational one. Always remember that each one of you is cherished and important. Your feelings are important and so is your growth. Do not shy away from doing the right thing. You all deserve to be facilitated and that is what we aim to do here. Today, we celebrate you, each one of you. It is my pleasure to welcome you here as we embark upon an honouring through this revelry. I hope you all will have a good time. Kindly enjoy the day!

Both type of speeches convey the quintessential emotions to the children and make them realize that they truly are a great treasure for our country which we need to preserve and mould them into bright and mature youth.

Welcome Speech for Children’s Day Celebration 1 Good Morning One and All!

United Nations, one of the biggest organizations in the world, too celebrates Children’s Day but on 20th November every year.

In India we celebrate it on 14th November due to a certain reason.

You now can enjoy the fun filled activities and participate in various competitions arranged by us.

Welcome Speech for Children’s Day Celebration 2 Good Morning Respected Principal, Teachers and My Dear Loving Students!

In India Children’s Day is celebrated on 14th November which is also considered to be the birth anniversary of great Indian freedom fighter and our first Prime Minister of India, Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru.

Welcome Speech for Children’s Day Celebration 3 A Very Good Morning to everyone gathered here to celebrate the Children’s Day today.

It has been officially declared by the UN General Assembly to celebrate Children’s day on 20th November every year, yet it is celebrated on 14th November all over India annually on the account of birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru.

Welcome Speech for Children’s Day Celebration 4 Good Morning Everyone! I thank you all for being present on this beautiful occasion of Children’s Day. This day is celebrated every year on 14th November.

Several children across the world suffer from atrocities which are innumerable. We must ensure that the rights of children are protected and they are not exploited. It is rightly said that “God is closest to children because their hearts and minds are pure and innocent”.

Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru believed that children must be provided with love and attention as they are the future bearers of a nation. Children truly deserve a day that is dedicated to them. All across the world, different countries celebrate Children’s Day. You all are the picture of innocence and everybody adores children. It is a day specially set aside to honor children and celebrate your presence. This day is dedicated to children and everybody tries their best to make you all happy on this day.

Though, universally, Children’s Day takes place on 20 th November. The United Nations has declared this day as Children’s Day and it is intended to promote the welfare and wellbeing of children and also to celebrate childhood. Although November 20 th is celebrated worldwide as Children’s Day, different countries have their own special day to celebrate this propitious occasion.

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru being the first Prime Minister of India was very fond of children. The world may remember him as the first Indian Prime Minister and a skilled politician, but for children he was always considered as Chacha Nehru.

Despite being a polished and perceptive political leader, Nehru was immensely fond of being surrounded by children. He never discriminated between a girl and a boy as his ideology emphasized more on the concept of equality. Nehru Ji was a patient listener and he admired children while they spoke. He believed that children are the future of a nation and educating them is a step towards the progress of a nation.

Children’s Day is an occasion where we all should collectively take an oath for the safety of our children. The growing rate of crime in today’s scenario against children baffles parents and teachers to the core. We want that our children should be safe and to assure this aspect we need to educate them not only by imparting formal education, but it becomes our duty to make them aware about the social evils prevalent in our society. They should be taught to be alert every second in their life and should also be made aware about the difference between a good and a bad touch.

It would be then that we could provide them with a safe environment both at home and school. Therefore, children are tender buds and it becomes our duty to assure them, a safe atmosphere which they rightfully deserve. Celebrating Children’s Day just as a convention is not enough rather we should collectively take certain measures to protect their childhood as they are our young minds who will support our country to grow in an optimistic manner with novel ideas.

This is all from my side, thank you!

Free Easter Speeches for Children They Can Easily Memorize

Whether your family is religious or not, kiddos love Easter. But beyond the egg hunts and the sweet treats, it's a great opportunity for them to grasp the essence of what they're celebrating, and Easter speeches let them share what they've learned. The speeches below are original and crafted with care to resonate with kids of different ages.

Extraordinary Easter Speech for Kids

This short Easter speech for youth uses a more traditional format to explain why people of all faiths and beliefs enjoy celebrating the holiday . Extraordinary Easter is appropriate for a non-religious celebration . To open the printable, click on the image. If you have issues, see this guide for working with Adobe printables .

Extraordinary Easter

By Michele Meleen

Easter is a magical celebration of how new things can come from places you don't expect. The things people see as part of the Easter celebration help us remember that we can always start over, no matter how hard things might seem, and that spreading happiness makes the world a more cheerful place.

Easter is extraordinary because:

  • The Easter Bunny lays eggs, something real bunnies can't do. He shows us how fun it can be to use our imagination. He also helps spread cheer and lets us believe impossible things can happen.
  • Eggs keep babies safe until they are ready to be born. By decorating eggs and sharing them with friends or family, we are spreading the happiness people feel when a baby is born.
  • Candy is a special treat that makes people happy. We give candy to people we love so they can feel joy.
  • Spring is when we celebrate Easter because it is the season when many plants start to grow again, flowers bloom, and baby animals are born. The world looks like it is waking up again during spring, and this makes people feel good.

So, don't just be excited about getting candy and coloring eggs this Easter. Be happy celebrating a fun holiday, and help others feel happy about life, too.

Personalize It

Kids of any age can use this easy Easter speech as it is written or as inspiration for their own unique version.

  • Toddlers and preschoolers can dress in costumes matching each bullet point and stand with an older speaker.
  • You can have one child read the speech, or if you have a group of children, each child can read or recite one part.
  • Older children might research more Easter symbols and add them as bullet points.

Kids can customize Extraordinary Easter by substituting other symbolic items or creating new closing lines.

The Meaning of Easter Speech

If faith is important to your family, children can recite this Christian acrostic poem to explain why people celebrate Easter. The Meaning of Easter is appropriate for children of all ages but may be best understood by those who are five and older. Children reading this speech could hold a Bible or dress as disciples for added effect. It is a good option for an Easter speech for church and can be combined with other Easter recitations .

The Meaning of Easter

Easter means different things to different people. For the people that believe in Jesus Christ, it is about the love of God and Jesus Christ. To me, Easter means:

  • E is for Everlasting life. God promises this to everyone who has faith in Jesus Christ. People who follow the words of Jesus will get to live with God forever.
  • A is for All who believe in the word of Jesus Christ. His lessons and message are meant for all people living on Earth.
  • S is for Sacrifice . Jesus Christ gave up His life to pay for the sins of all people. Because He loves us, He gave something important so we wouldn't have to.
  • T is for Trust . If we trust in God and Jesus, we can live a happy life. Trust means being sure that God and Jesus will be there for us even when we can't see them.
  • E is for Eternity. God says we can live forever with Him if we follow Jesus Christ. An eternity never ends and includes when we are alive and after we die.
  • R is for Resurrection , which means Jesus came back from the dead to lead the people. By doing this impossible thing, He showed us all that His message and powers are real.

Romans 8:11 says, "If the spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you." (ESV)

This is what Easter means to me.

How to Customize

While children can read this speech verbatim, you can also update this free Easter speech for church to include more personal references. To personalize the speech, children could:

  • Keep the original base words (Everlasting, All, Sacrifice, etc.) but reword each sentence to fit their vocabulary.
  • Use the format with the word EASTER and come up with new words for each letter.
  • Let children choose different Bible verses.
  • Use the same format, but eliminate the Christian tone by choosing more commercial words like eggs or treats.

Short Easter Speech for Toddlers

Keeping it short and sweet is the key to successfully presenting a Christian Easter group speech with little ones. This speech features an adult or youth narrator followed by short, easily memorizable lines for the toddlers.

Easy Easter Speech for Toddlers

By Tamsen Butler

  • (Adult or Youth) Narrator: Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We celebrate the grace given to us by Jesus's death on the cross and the marvelous miracle of resurrection.
  • Toddler 1: Jesus is alive!
  • Toddler 2: Hallelujah!
  • Toddler 3: We are forgiven!
  • All Toddlers: Thank you, God!

Secular Easter Speech

If you want young ones to present an easy Easter speech but prefer to keep religion out of it, this secular group speech focuses on the renewal of spring.

Secular Easter Speech for Young Children

  • Child 1: Easter is about new beginnings.
  • Child 2: The snow melts.
  • Child 3: The rain makes things grow.
  • Child 4: New flowers bloom, and baby animals are born.
  • Child 1: Easter is a good time to think about what new beginning you need.
  • Child 2: What can Easter mean for you?
  • Child 3: It's time to refresh!
  • Child 4: Happy Easter!
Quick Tip If you don't have four kiddos to participate, you can still use this poem, just assign the lines accordingly.

Short Easter Speech About Christ's Resurrection for Kindergarteners

Reciting Easter church speeches can be difficult for kindergarteners and for kids in early elementary school. Therefore, it's important to keep it simple. This acrostic speech is designed specifically for little kids. The wording is simple and easy for them to say in front of a congregation or at a family gathering.

Celebrate JESUS

By Jennifer Betts

Smile! Smile proud! Jesus is alive for us. Let's honor His name.

  • J is for Jesus.
  • E is for Easter.
  • S is for salvation.
  • U is for undying love.
  • S is for sins forgiven.

Jesus is alive for us! Thank you, Jesus.

Welcome, Easter Speech for Child

If your child wants to say a little something at the family gathering, you can try out this simple speech to welcome Easter. Early elementary kids can get creative by adding their own ideas about what Easter brings. This allows them to customize it for their family and lives.

Welcome, Easter!

Easter brings fun.

Easter brings cool baskets.

Easter brings candy.

Easter brings egg hunts.

Easter brings family together.

Easter brings laughs.

Welcome, Easter.

Secular Speech Topics

  • Symbolism - What is a symbol and why is it important? Kids can look at what each Easter symbol means to them.
  • Multicultural Customs - Children can explore if and how people celebrate Easter in other countries or cultures. Are there any similarities?
  • History of Easter - Digging through resources will be educational and help kids understand why they are celebrating.
  • Easter Feasts - There are many specific foods associated with Easter celebrations. A speech about the significance of these foods would be fun before a meal.

Speaking of Easter

Kids love to be the center of attention, and making an easy speech is a great way for them to participate in the holiday. Help children express their take on Easter celebrations by asking what Easter means to them. Once they've delivered their Easter speech, consider having them give the fam a laugh with some silly Easter jokes and riddles , or asking them to participate in some  themed games .

This day is very important in the life of a child as well as their parents. The day reminds us about our duties towards you all. You are like a tender buds, who in whichever way can be molded. United Nations, one of the biggest organizations in the world, too celebrates Children’s Day but on 20th November every year.

short welcome speech for children's day celebration

In India we celebrate it on 14th November due to a certain reason.

You now can enjoy the fun filled activities and participate in various competitions arranged by us.

Welcome Speech for Children’s Day Celebration 2 Good Morning Respected Principal, Teachers and My Dear Loving Students!

In India Children’s Day is celebrated on 14th November which is also considered to be the birth anniversary of great Indian freedom fighter and our first Prime Minister of India, Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru.

Welcome Speech for Children’s Day Celebration 3 A Very Good Morning to everyone gathered here to celebrate the Children’s Day today.

It has been officially declared by the UN General Assembly to celebrate Children’s day on 20th November every year, yet it is celebrated on 14th November all over India annually on the account of birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru.

Welcome Speech for Children’s Day Celebration 4 Good Morning Everyone! I thank you all for being present on this beautiful occasion of Children’s Day. This day is celebrated every year on 14th November.
