NYSC Relocation

NYSC relocation is moving a corps member from their original state of orientation exercise camping and place of primary assignment (PPA) to a new one.

Relocation can be requested for a variety of reasons, such as health, family, or personal reasons.

To be eligible for NYSC relocation, meet these requirements:

You must be a serving corps member.
You must have a valid reason for requesting relocation.
You must have the approval of NYSC.

If you meet these requirements, submit a request for relocation to NYSC.

NYSC will review your request and decide.

Reasons for NYSC Relocation

Here are the valid reasons for requesting NYSC relocation:

1. Health Reasons

If you have a medical condition that makes it difficult for you to serve at your current PPA, you may relocate to a PPA that is more accommodating to your health needs.

2. Family Reasons

If you have a family emergency, you may relocate to be closer to your family.

3. Security Reasons

With Boko Haram in most northern states of Nigeria and the brutal religious killing in most of these areas, the life and security of most of these corp members are at risk.

No parents would feel at home to leave his or her ward in these danger zones.

The NYSC administration has also made it possible for those posted to these places to apply for redeployment.

4. Personal Reasons

If you have a personal reason for wanting to relocate, such as a job offer, you may relocate.

NYSC Relocation Time Frame

There is no specific number of times NYSC can relocate a corps member.

The NYSC relocation process can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.

The exact time it takes will depend on these factors:

1. The reason for your relocation request.

If you are relocating for health reasons, your request may be approved more quickly than if you are relocating for personal reasons.

2. The availability of PPAs.

If there are limited PPAs available in the location you want to relocate to, your request may take longer to be approved.

3. The workload of the NYSC.

NYSC is a large organization, and they may have a lot of relocation requests to process.

This can delay the approval process.

If you are requesting relocation for health reasons, expedite the process by submitting a medical report from your doctor.

Contact the NYSC directly to inquire about the status of your request.

After you submit your form in camp, the officials will verify the documents and some other things and your relocation letter will be ready.

If your issue is on health ground and it needs a serious attention or life-threatening, the management will relocate you immediately and you will leave camp immediately maybe after 2 days.
If yours is marital ground and you already have a little baby or you are heavily pregnant, the duration of your NYSC relocation will be instant. The camp is not conducive to small babies and pregnant women.
Nursing married mothers will also get their relocation instantly within days.
If yours is based on other reasons, you might get your relocation letter at the end of the orientation camp.

Difference Between NYSC Relocation and Redeployment

The major difference between NYSC relocation and redeployment is that relocation is started by the corps member, while redeployment is initiated by the NYSC.

Relocation is when a corps member requests to be moved from their current Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) to a new PPA.

This can be done for a variety of reasons, such as health, family, or personal reasons.

Redeployment is when the NYSC moves a corps member from their current PPA to a new PPA.

This is usually done for administrative reasons, such as to fill a vacancy in a particular PPA.

How to Apply for NYSC Relocation

Here are the steps to apply for NYSC relocation online:

Sign in with your email and password (same as the ones you earlier used in registering on the portal).
Click on “Relocation”.

You will be notified afterward through text messages and emails about developments on your application (whether it was approved or rejected).

How to Print NYSC Relocation Letter Online

Here are the steps to print NYSC relocation letter online:

Visit the official NYSC portal .
Log in with your email and password.
Click on manage relocation.
Make a payment and wait for it to redirect you after a successful payment.
Print your payment receipt, which will serve as your evidence of successful payment after printing your NYSC relocation letter online.
After payment, you’ll see an option to print a redeployment/relocation letter.
Print the letter in colored and make a copy.
Take it to your new state of deployment.

How to Cancel NYSC Relocation

NYSC relocation is not something you apply for fun or do because your friends are applying for it.

Assuming you finally made a mistake or after applying for NYSC relocation, you discover you are in love with the state and then want to cancel it. Here is what you will do.

If you applied for NYSC relocation and you are still in camp when you changed your mind, all you have to do is go to the camp commandant through your platoon instructors or just go directly.

You will need a good reason, and it might get canceled it for you.

If you applied online after the NYSC orientation camp, go straight to the L.I and inform him or her about the cancellation of your NYSC relocation.

With a lot of begging, you can get lucky to cancel it.

Also, if the redeployment letter is already out with your new state, and you want to cancel it, you will need your state coordinator.

Steps to Take After NYSC Redeployment

The next thing to do after NYSC relocation is to go directly to your new state for documentation.

You have no business with the original state again.

They will then give you a Place of Primary Assignment or ask you to find one by yourself.

For example, Austin checked his call-up letter and found Zamfara State.

He cannot serve for 11 months in Zamfara State because of some reasons known to him, so he is planning to redeploy to Akwa-Ibom during orientation camp.

He took the redeployment form, and it worked.

The NYSC official then relocates him to Akwa Ibom.

So now after camp, Austin will travel to Akwa Ibom and go straight to Akwa Ibom NYSC secretariat to show the L.I and officials his relocation letter and other requirements.

After documentation, he’ll be given a PPA in Akwa Ibom or asked to find one.

NYSC Relocation Procedure

For those that redeployed, the NYSC state secretariat in your relocated state is where you will take your redeployment approval letter to.

You don’t need to wait for any text or email, visit the NYSC state secretariat and begin your redeployment clearances a few days after leaving camp.

You can’t enter the secretariat gate without being on NYSC kit.
You can be on full 7/7 or on 6/7.
You can wear white sneakers or jungle boot.
You can wear crested shirt or plain white.

Your first day is to just submit your relocation approval letter, the one you printed showing approval successfully.

Once submitted, you will be given a date to come back.

Before that day, your state code would have changed to your redeployed state’s state code.

After submitting the approval letter, if you are lucky your state code will change after 1 or 2 days, if not it will be the 3,4,5, or 6 th day, the maximum day for state code to change is 7 days after submission of approval letter.

You will return to the secretariat after your state code changes.

This is when registration starts properly.

You will be given a white file, inside you will see a bio-data form, fill it, your o level grades will be needed.

You will put your green card and call up letter.

Before submitting the file back, you must have gone to write your name in the book of life

Drop your account number in the account section.

Snap passport with crested shirt.

After these you can submit the file, a day after submission you will be posted to your PPA .

But if you have a company that you know they usually collect and pay corpers, go there and collect a request letter.

Don’t submit the file without putting a request letter (this is for those who want to dictate their PPA) because once you submit, you will be posted anywhere.

If the required documents to be affixed inside the file aren’t complete, you can take the file home and bring it back whenever you are ready.

NYSC Relocation Letter on Health Ground

Here is a sample of an NYSC relocation letter on health grounds:

NYSC Relocation Letter Sample on Health Ground

Include all the relevant information, such as your name, call-up number, current PPA, medical condition, and proposed PPAs.

Medical Report for NYSC Redeployment

A medical report for NYSC redeployment is a document that is issued by a doctor to support a corps member’s request for redeployment from their current Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) to a new PPA because of health reasons.

If you are critically ill and you are not pleased with your state of deployment, you can request for relocation on basis of your ill state of health.

This method of relocation is popularly known as Relocation on health ground and a genuine medical report which states the critical state of your health is used for this.

PROCEDURE FOR RELOCATION IN CAMP USING MEDICAL REPORT

Below is the procedure for relocation in the NYSC camp using medical report;

1. Request and obtain a relocation form (to be available in camp after opening ceremony)

2. Attach a written letter. (format of this letter is usually available in camp by officials).

3. Attach your genuine Medical Report legally issued by a certified medical practitioner (Doctor's Report).

4. Tender it to the officials in charge.

5. Expect the result on the last day of camp after interview (best of luck).

Note That: PCMs who are applying for relocation on health ground will be interviewed by some of the orientation camp medical officers to ascertain the extent of the ailment's condition they claim. This interview will define whether or not such PCM is eligible for relocation.

Relocation is the process by which a corps member applies to be posted to another state for reasons such as; A married woman who wants to be closer to her spouse or someone who has a certain health condition and needs a hospital or doctors constant attention. Hence, after being posted to a state you dislike or don’t want, the next thing you do is to apply for relocation to another state.

How Relocation Is Done

During the NYSC online registration exercise, opportunities are provided to people with serious health issues and married women for relocation, which is backed up by uploading the evidence of their claim.. This makes a married woman liable to being posted to their spouses location and for the health challenged, a place for appropriate health care..

Corps members are always given the opportunity to apply for relocation based on marital or health grounds during the period of being in the orientation camp.. After the relocation that is done in camp, all other relocations are done three (3) months after the orientation course. However, following the NYSC policy, all relocations stop six (6) months into the service year..

NYSC Relocation, Approval and Cancellation

Lodge your relocation request at the camp. You would be asked to visit the NYSC portal to make payment and print your Relocation letter.

You would have to upload supporting documents before you can be able to make payments. five documents if you’re relocation is on marriage bases and doctor’s report or health certificate, if your relocation is based on health problems.

You will then be patient for some hours or days. The NYSC officials during this period will check all your uploaded documents for approval or rejection. If it’s approved, you will be able to make payment and print your letter. But if it is not approved, you will then be required to scan and upload a real document or letter.

So in general, below are the steps you’ll take..

Request for relocation before you leave the NYSC orientation camp.
On your web browser visit portal.nysc.org.ng then Log in with your Email address and password you used during the NYSC online registration.
Click on the Relocation Status, if your request has been approved.
Click on the link then make a payment of N1,000 via Remita. (Remita Charges is about N165)
Print your Relocation letter in colored and report at the NYSC Secretariat of the new state you’ve been relocated to… Relocated corps members must report to the new state within 21 days of the approval.
Do all the necessary documentation.
Show up at your new Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) with your new posting letter for acceptance.

You will need 5 supporting documents for relocation as a married woman and they are..

Your marriage Certificate (Court Affidavit). Court Certificate of Marriage, Mosque or Church Marriage Certificate..
A newspaper Publication of Change of Name..
Your husband Local Government Identification..
Your husband’s ID Card e.g National ID Card (temporary one acceptable), Voter’s Card, Driving License, etc.
Your house Utility Bill (Power Bill, Water Bill, etc) or Letter from Husband Employer.

Even after your relocation application has been approved, you can still cancel it. What you’ll have to do is, visit the state you’ve been redeployed to.. State your interest in canceling the relocation application. You will then be asked to write a letter of Cancellation of Relocation Application to (you put the name of the State).

It takes a few days for this process.. You will be informed by the state that your relocation has been canceled. You can now return to the first state of posting. Processes of relocation application and cancellation if one wishes to, must be completed within 3 months…

What is NYSC Redeployment?

NYSC Redeployment can thus be referred to as process involved in transferring a corp member from the state of deployment to another more presumed comfortable state.

To Redeploy, is a process that should be initiated by the corp member. Redeployment can only be started in the camp after the swearing in ceremony which can only be implemented only after the camp. There are however laid down conditions/factors that make the redeployment possible.

Reasons for Redeployment or Relocation of Corp Members

It is very vital that you get to know these procedures in advance. There is a lot of stress involved in this process and failure to know this can make it even more difficult a process. The bases upon which you can redeploy include:

Marital Grounds

I f you are married, NYSC has made it possible for you to apply for redeployment. This privilege is only opened to female corps members. The corps members redeploying on this basis are expected to redeploy to their husbands’ State of residence. This restriction is based on the fact that women would mostly be needed at home than their husbands. (Well I don’t know if the moral of that claim is just). That’s the rule anyway.

Those redeploying on the basis of marital grounds would be expected to supply or attach the following:

A formal letter directed to the director general
Your Marriage certificate
A change of name published in one of the national newspapers
A formal letter from the husband stating his state of residence.

Medical Ground

You can also be considered for redeployment on medical grounds . The medical report coming from an authentic hospital must come with strong medical conditions that would make it difficult for you to stay away from you state of treatment or your family.

Medical reports will/can only be accepted from recognized hospitals such as institution’s medical Centre or a recognized General Hospitals, Military/Police Hospital, Federal Medical Centre’s reports. (See Sample Letter Below)

Your report would undergo scrutiny. The process has become stricter than before. Most of this report are said to be sent to the secretariat in the state where the report was collected for them to verify the hospital and the claims in the report.

Security Basis

The security concerns in our country are well known. 1. Marital Grounds

This is the most common reason for NYSC corps members’ redeployment from their State of posting to the State of their choice. This privilege is only given to married female corps members and they are usually expected to redeploy to their husbands’ State of residence. For this redeployment to be made possible, a formal letter directed to the Director General of NYSC is to be written and the following documents’ copies should be attached to it:

Your marriage certificate
Newspaper publication of change of name
A formal letter from your husband stating his State of residence

Aside from legally married female corps members, some pregnant corps members, whether married or not, can seldom be given the privilege to redeploy too. Their redeployment letter would be similar to that of married corpers except for some adjustments.

NYSC Redeployment Letter Sample on the basis of Pregnancy

I am a corps member posted to ___________ State. I’m not married but I am currently pregnant for one Mr._______________ (my fiancé) who works and resides in ____________ State; my family also reside here. I have successfully completed my 3 weeks in orientation camp in _________ State.

By reason of the foregoing, I hereby most respectfully request to be redeployed to ____________ State where my family and fiancé resides. This will enable me take care of myself and my unborn child. This request notwithstanding, I remain committed to my call to service of the nation.

NB : this request for redeployment on the basis of pregnancy may not be granted but it will still worth a try.

2. Medical Grounds

So many corps members are also considered for redeployment on medical grounds. Corps members are expected to come with a medical report from an NYSC approved hospitals. The ailment or disease these corps members are suffering from must be such that would make it difficult for them to stay away from their State of treatment and their family.

Some of the medical conditions that can be considered for NYSC redeployment are asthma, leukemia, stroke, heart and kidney diseases, HIV/AIDS, etc. For this purpose, NYSC usually accept a Doctor’s Report as well as a letter of redeployment from corps members with the Doctor’s Report attached.

Hello Abbey, I suggest you go ASAP to your LI or to the NYSC secretariat where you are posted to and lay a complain. You should also expect them to be reluctant in granting your request, but do not give in to what they will tell you. If you are considering NYSC redeployment to another state, here is the procedure you need to follow.

Applying for the

It can be more difficult if as a corps member you don't have a genuine reason for the redeployment you seek.

Although all corps members have the right to seek redeployment, before doing that, the NYSC expects you to have a concrete reason for considering a redeployment.

Here are five reasons that'll make the NYSC management consider corps members redeployment applications.

Any corps member who has a recurring illness that required them to be closely monitored are allowed to apply for redeployment to any state where they can get medical attention. However, before you apply, you will need a medical report from your institution’s medical centre or from a recognized hospital.

2. Marriage

Seeking redeployment on a marital ground most times apply to only female corps members who want to live with their husband.

Such corps members are expected to write an application letter stating why he/she wants to be relocated to another state of her choice.

Applying on a marital ground will require you to attach three documents to your letter, they are:

When writing a formal letter, it is important to be respectful and exercise caution with your language, especially when writing a request letter for NYSC . To ensure that your letter is standard, LEGIT, and considerable, follow these essential tips and format:

1. Begin with the sender’s address, which will be the company that wants to request Corps members.

2. Include the date. The date you intend to send the letter.

4. The subject of the letter should be written on a single line. If it is in uppercase, do not underline it, and if it is in lowercase, underline it. In this case, the subject could be an APPLICATION FOR A REQUEST OF A CORPS Member or A REQUEST LETTER FOR A CORPS MEMBER. You can even add the name and call-up number of the corps member.

5. Begin the letter with a greeting such as Dear Sir/Ma. If you are sure of the gender, be specific, but if you are not sure, use Dear sir/ma.

6. The body of the letter is crucial and should be divided into three paragraphs:

The opening paragraph should introduce yourself and explain the reason for writing the letter.
Your second paragraph should contain all the necessary details.
The third paragraph should serve as a conclusion, in which you outline your expectations for the situation.

7. Close the letter with “Yours Sincerely,” followed by the date and signature.

By strictly following this format, your request letter will have a greater likelihood of being approved.

Important Tips For NYSC Letter Of Request

One fact you should know is that the NYSC Management can either approve or disapprove your request letter.

However, you will increase the chance of approval if your request letter meets the standard requirements. In this section, I will briefly talk about those requirements and you should pay attention to them.

The letter will have two addresses and an opening salutation.
The request letter is a formal letter, therefore, use formal language in your letter and throughout the letter.
Avoid grammatical blunders and errors at all costs. Proofread and read it again before you submit it.
You should go straight to the point. Don’t beat around the Bush, and don’t talk about anything unnecessary. Go straight to the point.
Make the letter persuasive. Do not use an authoritative tone or be aggressive.
Avoid large vocabulary and make it as simple as it can be.
Try typing it and using A4 paper size.
Just try to remember formal letter characteristics back then in secondary school days. It’s time to put the lesson into practice.
You can submit it during the Orientation camp or after the Orientation camp. It’s best you submit it during the Orientation camp so that the corps member can get the direct posting letter to the local government area of the company.

When Do You Need A Request Letter

Before I show you the NYSC request letter format, let me explain to you the best time you can submit the request letter so that you will know when to prepare it.

During Orientation Camp

This is usually the best time to process your NYSC PPA so that on the last day of camp, you will get your PPA letter on your dashboard.

If you have a specific place of primary assignment you want in Lagos, during the Orientation camp , you will ask the company to write the request letter, or its better if you write it for them.

Then you will take it to the Orientation camp and submit it at the ICT center or ask any staff to direct you on where to submit it.

The reason why you should submit your PPA request letter during camp is so that NYSC can post you directly to that PPA.

If you don’t submit it, NYSC will post you anywhere in that state. It may be any town or village and even any local government which might not be close to the PPA you want.

After Relocation

If you applied for relocation, you might need this NYSC request letter format especially when you want NYSC to post you to a specific place of primary assignment.

Whenever you submit an NYSC request letter, the management might post you to that exact place in the letter. However, if you don’t submit the request letter, NYSC will just post you anywhere at any local government.

After A Rejection Letter

Another time you might need the NYSC request letter format is after a place of primary assignment rejects you.

Your place of primary assignment reserves the right to either accept or reject you. Once they reject you, you have to either go back to the local government for a reposting or you can look for a PPA by yourself.
