Dharani sacrifices his love for Vennela so that lovebirds Suri and Vennela can live happily ever after. But their happily ever after is ruined by a local goon Chinna Nambi who lusts for Vennela. How will the trio survive the local politics and Chinna Nambi’s ulterior motives? With Keerthi Suresh and Nani in the lead roles, the film tells you that alcohol ruins the best of people, relationships and lives. ‘Dasara’ translates to Dussehra, and the film’s subplot revolves around the victory of good over evil. The film collected 117 Crore at the box office.

2. Vaathi | Netflix

Who could have thought there’ll be a film on education? But it is 2023, and here is Vaathi, a period-action drama about a teacher’s fight to keep education accessible for everyone. The film was shot simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu and has crossed the 100 Crore mark worldwide. Watch Dhanush’s film on Netflix because it is too much of a good thing to miss!

3. Varisu | Amazon Prime Video

Varisu is a Tamil family drama. It has Vijay Thalapathy in the lead role. High on family sentiments and comedy, this film is the third highest-grossing Indian film of 2023. WaItair Veerayya is a Telugu movie. It is based on a smuggler fisherman in need of money. A suspended police officer must catch a wanted criminal who’s escaped the RAW by killing policemen. He offers Waltair cash on the condition that he’ll get Ceaser back. Waltair agrees to catch him, but he has a back story and a plan. The action revenge drama has Chiranjeevi, Shruti Hassan, Ravi Teja, Prakash Raj and Catherine Tresa in lead roles. It is exciting to watch Chiranjeevi and Ravi Teja together in a face-off on screen after 22 years. Waltair Veerayya is the highest-grossing Telugu movie of 2023.

5. Veera Simha Reddy | Disney+Hotstar

Veer Simha Reddy is a Telugu action drama. Watch Jai reunite with his estranged father, Veera, after learning about his parents’ complicated past. However, things only get complicated from there on. The film’s main cast, Nanadamuri Balakrishna and Shruti Hassan have an age difference of 25 years and yet complement each other in the movie. 

6. Thunivu | Netflix

The hit trio of Valimai (2022) – Ajith Kumar, H. Vinoth, and Boney Kapoor have again created a masterpiece with Thunivu. What happens when a group of criminals who plan to rob a bank’s money get to know that their heist has been foiled as the bank’s money has already been looted? The heist film runs more on action sequences than drama and will leave you asking for more. The Tamil film collected more than 200 Crore at the box office.

Kabzaa is a Kannada period action film. The film’s narrative is built around how an Air Force Officer becomes a part of a gang war to avenge his brother’s death and becomes the ruling underworld don. Christopher is a Malayali action thriller film that follows the events in Christopher’s life that make him who he is today. The Malayalam Horror comedy is about 7 friends who use the Ouija board to communicate with spirits, and a spirit named Anamika makes contact. 10. King Of Kotha | Disney+Hotstar

An action crime thriller about a young boy named Tony who aspires to live a normal life unlike his father Ravi. However, in a crime-infected town called Kotha, when the inspector feels that normal ways wouldn’t work, Tony, a man simply in love with a woman, now also has to return to the city as the ‘King’ to take over and improve the situation. Dulquer Salman’s smooth acting would make you believe that he is, in fact, the ‘King’!

A Tamil-language crime thriller about a newly appointed rookie cop who teams up with a senior and experienced cop to investigate a series of murders that have occurred over some time. On unfolding a lot of tangled information and shreds of evidence, they find out that a menacing serial killer is on the loose, and if they don’t capture him soon enough, many more lives will be lost.

An action crime drama film that revolves around the life of a sorted cafe owner who starts pursuing violent criminals and introducing himself as a past gangster. He has to save his family and fight off the bad guys. But was he a gangster? And why so?
