Call of Duty
WE ARE ALL WE'VE GOT. This new chapter in the Call of Duty® franchise features a fresh dynamic, where players are on the side of a crippled nation, fighting not for freedom, or liberty, but simply to survive. Special Operations forces, a mysterious group known only as "Ghosts", lead the battle against a newly-emerged, technologically-superior, global power.
In Call of Duty®: Ghosts multiplayer, customize your soldier and squad for the first time. Level environments are more realistic and immersive than ever before.
CREATE-A-SOLDIER. In Call of Duty®: Ghosts you don't just create a class, you create a soldier. Choose the head, body type, head-gear and equipment, and you can even create a female soldier for the first time. With over 20,000 possible combinations, you can create the soldier you've always wanted. And each soldier you create will also have his or her own load outs.
KILL STREAKS, ADVANCED WEAPONRY & PERKS
There are over 20 NEW Kill Streaks in Call of Duty®: Ghosts — such as Juggernaut Maniac, Helo-Scout, Vulture and the ODIN Strike. You can even bring in Riley, from the single-player campaign, as your guard dog to warn you and attack when enemies are near. Scorestreaks are back, and can now be customized – to alter performance attributes or increase the power of a particular streak. The new Perks System has a value from 1 to 5, and you have 8 points to allocate. You could also choose to get rid of your secondary weapon and get up to 11 perks.
Squads introduces a whole new level of competition to Call of Duty. We've taken the best parts of the Multiplayer experience and combined that with a vastly improved AI and our new mechanic of creating your own squad-mates. All the hard work you've put into customizing, playing, and prestiging your squad can now be put to use on a brand new playing field.
NEW ENGINE. From maps and modes, to animation and audio, to who you are as a player — this is the biggest overhaul of multiplayer since the original Modern Warfare®. Things like Sub-D, Displacement Mapping, Real-Time Lighting, and Dual-Rendering tech gives us the ability to build the most visceral gameplay experience we've ever created.
Call of Duty®: Ghosts has redefined how you move through the world.
· A new contextual lean system now allows you to lean around obstacles without adding button combinations.
· A new mantling system allows you to move fluidly over objects, while not losing momentum.
· The knee slide allows you to naturally transition from sprinting to crouch to prone.
DYNAMIC MAP EVENTS
We're immersing players in the multi-player maps in ways similar to what we've done cinematically in single-player, while adding new ways to play and interact with the environments in a meaningful way. New interactive elements and player triggered events make the maps evolve as the match goes on. From player-triggered traps to map-changing killstreaks, the entire landscape can shift and require new tactics and strategies.
OUTNUMBERED, OUTGUNNED, BUT NOT OUTMATCHED.
An independent, covert, and ultra-elite Special Forces unit, GHOSTS operates outside of the normal military chain of command. Formed from the remnants of Tier one operatives, who were nearly wiped out during Operation Sand Viper in the Middle East, in 2005. The fifteen survivors, including Captain Gabriel Rorke and Lt. Elias Walker, were formed into a new unit known as “The Ghosts.”
The resource-rich promise of South America has been fulfilled under the Federation. Fully consolidated energy production combined with a rich factory infrastructure arising from First World outsourcing, the Federation is operating and enjoying a period of growth similar to the late 20th Century Middle East.
The United States ushered in a new era of space-based warfare with the launch of the O.D.I.N. (Orbital Defense Initiative) space station. The ODIN station was armed with a battery of sophisticated kinetic projectile launchers. The ODIN’s weapon systems were designed to drop tungsten rods from orbit with pin-point precision. One rod hit was equivalent to the detonation of a small tactical nuclear warhead.
NO MAN'S LAND
"No Man's Land" (NML) is the slang term for a 60-mile wide strip of suburban desolation that runs East-West across Southern California, starting between San Diego and Los Angeles. NML stretches from the Orange County coastline out into the Mojave Desert to Las Vegas, and beyond…NML was ground zero for the ODIN orbital strikes when the Federation saboteurs used it against the US. The Odin kinetic bombardment left massive craters and rendered it tectonically unstable.
BROTHERS IN ARMS
Hesh and Logan Walker trained their entire lives under the watchful and demanding eye of their battle hardened father, Elias Walker. Their innate abilities as marksman and hunters gave them a particular advantage growing up. Their father had hoped that these traits would help both of his sons maintain their self-reliance should things get rough. Ten years after the Odin event, Lt. they serve together on a recon team based out of Fort Santa Monica, tasked with defending and patrolling the California front. Both were grounded by Elias’ subtle training – core to which is that Hesh and his younger brother Logan must always look out for each other.
Warfare is no longer limited to the trenches. Fights take place underwater, in outer space and even on jagged rock faces. Diverse missions and battlefields have you rappelling down buildings, floating in zero gravity and taking aim inside a helicopter. The diversity of gameplay keeps the action epic and redefines what it means to be a soldier in the field.
Extinction is a completely new 4-player, co-op game mode featuring a unique blend of fast-paced survival gameplay, base defense, player customization and class leveling rounding out this robust new Call of Duty: Ghosts game mode. Teamwork is critical. Your team faces an inhuman menace that has overrun an isolated Colorado town and you must eliminate the threat via any means necessary.
At the start of the game, each member of the team chooses from one of several custom character classes - medic, engineer, tank, and weapon specialist. As the team battles through the streets of Caldera Peak, players earn currency that can be used to purchase a variety of upgrades and character abilities. The team can scavenge for special equipment and weapon mods left behind by previous, unsuccessful, military forces.
Extinction’s fast-paced survival combat features a series of intense base-defense scenarios, where your overall objective is to destroy the alien threat with the help of a nuclear device. Team members must work together to hold off waves of alien attackers until each alien “hive” can be neutralized. No two games are the same as the moment-to-moment upgrade decisions can dictate the strategies of the team.
Extinction features a variety of new “alien” enemies, from wall crawling Scouts, ferocious Hunters, devious exploding Seekers, leaping and spitting Scorpions, and massive armored Rhinos that can decimate an unprepared squad in a matter of seconds.
HINTS AND TIPS FOR SUCCESS
Players can equip up to four found attachments on their weapons, find flares, trophy systems, special ammo, and even a "Hypno-Knife" that can brainwash enemy creatures, transforming them into savage allies for a limited time. Extinction’s new Combat Spend system also offers access to a wide range of offensive, defensive, and support equipment bonuses that can turn the tide of a desperate battle.
EXTINCTION EPISODE 1: NIGHTFALL
Anchoring this first content pack is Episode 1: Nightfall, the first installment in Extinction's four-part episodic narrative. At a remote facility in the Alaskan wilderness, the shadowy Nightfall Program has been researching the origins of the "Alien" threat. When the scientists lose control, a small team of elite soldiers must retrieve the intel and exterminate hordes of savage creatures.

E-mail newsletter lets slip Call of Duty: Ghosts' four map packs.
By Martin Gaston on November 21, 2013 at 4:52AM PST
Activision has reportedly sent out an e-mail listing the names for its upcoming Call of Duty: Ghosts DLC packs.
A new leaked poster suggests that the Ghosts DLC packs, titled Onslaught, Devastation, Invasion, and Nemesis, will be released over the next year.
The first letter of each pack comes together to spell O.D.I.N, the name of the space station that is central to the game's plot.
The image was originally sent out in an e-mail newsletter, and spotted by MP1st , but was later removed by Activision.
The e-mail was sent out to promote the season pass for Call of Duty: Ghosts, which Activision says costs $10 less than buying the packs individually and also comes with the exclusive Team Leader digital content pack.

Call of Duty: Ghosts' latest map pack lets you kill with mine carts, extreme Canadian weather

Nemesis , the fourth and final downloadable content pack for Call of Duty: Ghosts , launches Aug. 5 on Xbox 360 and Xbox One, giving players all-new ways to kill each other in multiplayer. From mine carts to evil Canadian blizzards to vertical take off fighter jets, there's no shortage of fresh opportunities for virtual killing.
Included in Nemesis are the maps Dynasty, Showtime, Subzero and Goldrush. Dynasty is a hectic small to medium-sized map, according to Infinity Ward executive producer Mark Rubin, set in a Chinese lakeside village. It has a map-specific killstreak reward, a nod to the harrier strike from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 . Showtime plays out like a game show in a tight, tiny map based on Call of Duty 4 's Shipment.
Things get a bit crazier in Subzero, which lets players call in a death-dealing blizzard — that has glowing red eyes — as a killstreak reward. And in Goldrush, players can ride in and run over other players in mine carts, a video game staple that suits the Old West mining town theme.
Rounding out the Nemesis DLC pack is the fourth chapter in Ghosts ' cooperative Extinction campaign. Players will battle the insect-like Cryptid and face a new enemy that fights with psionic and mind control abilities. If any of this sounds too outlandish, remember that Call of Duty: Ghosts ' previous DLC add-ons featured Halloween 's Michael Myers and the Predator .
Nemesis costs $14.99 and is included as part of the Call of Duty: Ghosts season pass. Expect it to hit non-Xbox platforms in the coming weeks and months.

The first map pack for Call Of Duty: Ghosts is released, but does the presence of Michael Myers make this a classic selection?
There is a very vocal section of gaming fandom that seems convinced that Call Of Duty has had its day and is only one sequel away from joining Tony Hawk’s and Guitar Hero in video game oblivion. They’ve been thinking that way for at least the last three years and yet Ghosts has already become the best-selling multiformat game on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 (even if it does owe that position in large part thanks to America’s taste in sport).
It is true though that Call Of Duty’s sales have been slipping in the last few years, but then so too have most other established franchises. And yet Call Of Duty has maintained an enviably consistent quality over the years, in terms of both the mainline games and their downloadable content. Although in the latter’s case that consistency has always meant skirting around the edge of exploitation and superfluousness. And unfortunately this is one of those times when it comes closest to falling off.
If anything the problem with Onslaught is simply how predictable it’s all become, a complaint which you could of course aim at the parent game as well. As usual four map packs are planned for Ghosts, each with four multiplayer maps (at least one of which will probably be a remake), a co-op map, plus a new gun or other minor extra.
Things have worked that way for half a decade now and the inevitability of it all is an increasingly big turn-off, even before you’ve downloaded the thing. And yet the four main maps are well designed, with even the largest being of no great size – as if to emphasise Call Of Duty’s mastery of close quarters combat when compared to Battlefield’s larger, vehicle-orientated maps.
The best map by far is Fog, and not just because it has the best gimmick: complete a field order and you get transformed into Michael Myers from the Halloween movies. This may seem an odd addition but it works great in practise, as the old axe-wielding maniac proves very light on his feet and even has his own theme tune following him around.
As soon as you hear it panic immediately breaks out on the map, whose visuals are a perfect hodgepodge of every cabin in the woods style slasher movie – from Evil Dead on up. Unfortunately this is a level of invention that is not shared by the other maps, which are just bog standard Call Of Duty designs, from the predominately brown colour schemes to the nondescript settings.
BayView comes the closest to being visually interesting, but even though it’s meant to be a Californian coastal town it still manages to look gloomy and miserable. The trams scooting about provide some interesting cover though and you can call in artillery strikes from the destroyers moored offshore. But the numerous choke points and unpredictable elevated positions means that it’s a camper’s paradise to anyone that’s memorised the layout.
Containment is set in a rundown-looking Mexican village, with a central bridge filled with vehicles. One of these contains a radioactive missile which has the strangely specific effect of stopping your mini-map from working. That in itself is an okay gimmick, especially as you can blow it up with a field strike, but the map is visually bland and again seems specifically designed to encourage camping.
Finally, Ignition is the remake, turning Modern Warfare 2’s Scrapyard into a missile-launching facility. It’s still the same basic layout underneath, and with visuals and textures that feel like they’ve come out of some Call Of Duty clip art collection. The gimmick (sorry, we should probably be calling these ‘dynamic events’) is simply igniting a test engine. Which we don’t think we need to tell you is not as exciting as suddenly turning into Michael Myers.
Compared to other multiplayer games even the least interesting maps are still above average but we don’t know why Infinity Ward didn’t just run with the horror icon theme and make each map based on a different one, like Freddy, Jason, and Pinhead or something. Anything really that wouldn’t have left you with one cleverly imaginative map and three that look like they were designed by a computer rather than the person using it.
We certainly don’t know what they were thinking with the new Maverick weapon, which has both a sniper rifle and an automatic version, and in the latter form at least seems worryingly overpowered. Luckily the pack does have another saving grace though, in the form of the new Extinction map. Extinction is essentially Infinity Ward’s version of Zombies, only with aliens instead of the undead. It was one of the best new features of the parent game and each of the new map packs will include a new ‘episode’ which, again like Zombies, will provide a backstory to the otherwise unexplained invasion.
Episode 1 is called Nightfall and although it feature yet another Call Of Duty mainstay – the snowbound military base – you get two new aliens to fight and a new weapon that’s powered from squashed xenomorph goop. The big new boss character is good fun too and although the alien designs are disappointingly generic it’s a good co-op game and much more focused than most Zombies maps, with competent teamwork giving anyone a reasonable chance of seeing the ending.
So, there are a few good elements to this map pack and a lot of sadly predictable ones, but what disappoints us the most is the price. Call Of Duty downloads have always been expensive but nearly £12 for this is beyond the pale as far as we’re concerned, even if in real terms it’s not much more than a £1 extra. But the package as a whole struggles to stay above mediocre and it’s a shame the price tag doesn’t also reflect the inessential-ness of the download.
In Short: Not one of the best map packs Call Of Duty has ever seen, and yet for some reason one of the most expensive. Being Michael Myers is fun though.
Pros: Fog is a good little map with a great gimmick that shows a passion the other maps lack. Nightfall is good too, even if the visuals are very generic.
Cons: BayView and Containment are not great maps and Scrapyard is an uninspired remake. The Maverick seems overpowered and the overall price is getting absurd.

Call Of Duty: Ghosts Onslaught DLC Release Date, Maps Revealed?
Update : Activision has officially announced with Onslaught Map Pack with a gameplay trailer.
Original article : The first Call of Duty: Ghosts map pack will launch later this month on Xbox One and Xbox 360, according to a retailer sign. The sign also gave a rundown on the maps included with this Onslaught Map Pack.
The GameStop display, leaked on Twitter , says that Onslaught will add four maps to competitive multiplayer. Bayview is set in a coastal town with a lighthouse. Ignition is set in an industrial area. Fog and Containment take the action to more rustic locations. If those descriptions sound vague, it's because the thumbnails for each map are a bit tough to make out.
Onslaught, like some of the DLC packs for Black Ops 2 , will give players a new weapon as well. The Maverick AR & Sniper Rifle gives marksman another option for their - okay, yeah, I'm bullshitting again. I can't tell a thing about it from the picture. If Black Ops 2 DLC weapons were any indication, the Maverick will be unlocked as soon as you download Onslaught.
The Onslaught Map Pack also provides new content for Extinction. Extinction is a survival mode in which four players fight off waves of aliens. The DLC adds a new episode for the mode called Nightfall. You might have noticed that Nightfall is called "Episode 1." Additional chapters will be released through future DLC.
The DLC will hit Xbox 360 and Xbox One on January 28th. Thanks to an agreement between Microsoft and Activision, Call of Duty arrives on Xbox platforms first. PS4, PS3 and PC players will have to wait at least a month for the content.
The $49.99 Season Pass for Ghosts provides you with access to the Onslaught, Devastation, Invasion and Nemesis packs as they're released. Each provides new maps, weapons and Extinction content. The Season Pass also provides you with the FreeFall map and new customization options for your multiplayer avatar.
If you bought the Season Pass for a current-gen console, you can transfer the DLC to a next-gen console for no charge. This freebie has its limits, unfortunately. You have to buy the Season Pass before May 31st in order to get the content on current-gen and next-gen. Also, you need to stick with the same brand of console. In other words, you have to upgrade from Xbox 360 to Xbox One or PS3 to PS4 .

Activision has unveiled the third downloadable content (DLC) pack for Call of Duty: Ghosts.
The Call of Duty: Ghosts — Invasion pack, which has four new multiplayer maps and new episode of the bug-killing Extinction narrative, will arrive on June 3 on Xbox Live for Xbox One and Xbox 360. The timing is interesting, as Call of Duty: Ghosts multiplayer needs to hang on to its players even as hardcore fans gravitate to Ubisoft’s new Watch Dogs open-world hacking game. The audiences may be very different, but both compete as blockbusters.
The Invasion pack includes “Episode 3: Awakening,” the third chapter in the four-part Extinction co-op narrative. The pack sells for $15 à la carte or as part of the $50 Call of Duty: Ghosts DLC Season Pass for 2014. This map pack feels like an attempt to take the action of Call of Duty and place it into the settings of other games. It seems like a tactic to stave off boredom.
Above: Call of Duty: Ghosts — Invasion: Extinction Episode 3.
Invasion has four new small-to-medium-sized multiplayer maps. “Departed” is a medium-sized map set in a rural Mexican town during the Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration. It has skeleton masks, colorfully decorated streets, vendor carts, and storefronts for run-and-gun play. And it has a unique Field Order where you can unlock the Death Mariachi killstreak. It reminds me of Grim Fandango , the classic LucasArts adventure game.
“Pharaoh” is set in an abandoned archeological site of an ancient Egyptian palace. Players must look out for collapsing monuments and urns full of flesh-eating scarabs. Inside the palace, gamers can battle through multiple chambers in close-quarters combat with short-range weapons. Anubis, the half-jackal/half-human, protector of the dead, will reward players who unlock the map’s Field Order.
The third map, “Mutiny,” transports players to a remote Caribbean island harboring an eerie pirate hideout complete with abandoned trading posts and prison cells. It feels a lot like the environment of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, as the players fight among pirate ships. This map rewards speed and stealth. The Mutiny Field Order will unlock two ghost pirates, who will send enemy combatants down to Davey Jones’ locker.
Lastly, the fourth map really is from another game. “Favela” is a refresh of the fan favorite map from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Since its original release, the Brazilian shantytown has seen substantial change. Buildings once under construction are now complete, while others have crumbled into a state of disrepair. Players have to avoid falling to their death as they traverse the map from one building to the next. Those who complete the Field Order will be able to call in heavy air support from a nearby Y-8 Gunship, which has a 105mm cannon, a 40mm auto-cannon, and a 25mm cannon.
Lastly, the Extinction episode puts the co-op team into an alien underworld, where they can strike at the subterranean fortress of the Ancestors, the mysterious puppet-masters behind the Cryptid invasion.[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6TVU1_txeA&w=560&h=315]

Call of Duty: Ghosts Devastation pack includes alien kraken and The Predator
The Devastation map pack for Call of Duty: Ghosts will include four multiplayer maps and part two of the increasingly mad Extinction mode. The co-op players vs. NPC aliens aside is set on a "high-tech ghost ship" besieged by a "skyscraper-sized" sea monster and infested with dog-like alien creatures. The trailer also teases the inclusion of the Predator. The actual Predator, from the films. I haven't paid attention to Call of Duty in a while, so it feels like returning to a familiar old house I thought I knew, to find it full of dinosaurs.
The shooting will be familiar enough, I'm sure, even with the addition of the "Ripper 2-in-1 SMG/AR", pronounced "Ripper two-in-one Smgaargh". Multiplayer maps include Behemoth, set on the walkways of a vast mining machine, Ruins, set in a Mexican jungle near an erupting volcano, Unearthed, a map "inspired by" Modern Warfare 3's Dome, and Collision, set on a cargo ship that's crashed into a New York bridge.
The Predator's a tease. Is he playable in a new mode? Is there a map-specific killstreak that sends him after the enemy team? XBox live players will find out on April 3. PC players will probably get it a month later. It'll cost $15 / £10. Find out more on the Call of Duty site , and get a look at the new maps, and the famous monster, in this trailer.

“Call of Duty: Ghosts” DLC Includes Playable Michael Myers: ‘Onslaught’ Release Date Announcement Video Shows Map Packs, Weapons And ‘Halloween’ Surprise
Activision has set a jan. 28 release date for the first "cod: ghosts" map pack.
Activision (NASDAQ:ATVI) has announced the release date for the first set of new map packs and other downloadable content for “Call of Duty: Ghosts.” The DLC is called “Onslaught,” and “COD” fans can download it on Jan. 28 for the Microsoft Xbox One and Xbox 360.
The release of “Onslaught” will offer players four multiplayer maps, a new weapon that can be used as an assault or sniper rifle, and a new “Extinction” level.
One surprise from Activision’s “Onslaught” announcement video is that “Ghosts” players who successfully complete a field order on the horror film-influenced level “Fog” map can actually play as psychopathic murderer Michael Myers. The character, from the “Halloween” film franchise, makes an appearance as the first licensed character from outside of the “Call of Duty” series to be included in the game.
Michael Myers will wield an ax, and according to “Call of Duty: Ghosts” multiplayer designer Joseph Cecot, “You don the mask… the soundscape changes, everyone knows you’re coming, and you just tear them up.” The “Fog” map also features three key areas, including an area with tall grass for cover, cabins in the woods, and a barn with clear view of both.
There are four multiplayer maps in the “Onslaught” DLC that are smaller than the ones that players are used to in “Call of Duty: Ghosts,” according to Mark Rubin, executive producer. “What we’ve done is create four small to medium maps; they have a very classic Call of Duty play style,” Rubin says in the “Onslaught” map pack release video.
The “Ghosts” DLC release will also feature the Maverick, a new weapon that can be used as either an assault rifle, or an A2 sniper rifle. According to Rubin, the Maverick is actually “two weapons based on the same receiver and stock.”
Cecot adds that the Maverick is a “highly accurate, very dependable rifle. [It] comes with a sniper kit, and it has a really cool teched-out sniper scope.”
All four new maps for “Call of Duty: Ghosts” will feature special field orders. On “Bayview,” a seaside tourist town, players will be able to call in an artillery strike. Cecot notes that players can actually place sentry guns inside of the map’s movable trolleys to take out enemies.
“Containment” sees a Mexican town separated by a river, allowing players to fight across the sides with multiple entry and exit points down below. The map also features a mortar strike field order that detonates a radioactive missile on the map, destroying anyone in the area.
“Ignition”, a remake of “Scrapyard” from “Modern Warfare 2,” is a U.S. spacecraft launch facility in Florida – much like NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. A field order ignites the spaceship’s test engine to incinerate players below it.
The “Onslaught” map pack offers a new, survival-based “Extinction” level that also kicks off a five-part miniseries that tells the story of why the “Cryptid” aliens have come to Earth. “Extinction” also features weapons derived from the game’s scorpions, along with two new aliens: the “Phantom,” a jumping alien that becomes invisible during leaps, and the massive “Breeder.”
The “Onslaught” map pack is the first DLC release for “Call of Duty: Ghosts,” and it will appear on Xbox 360 and Xbox One before Playstation 4 (PS4) and PS3. Activision has not announced a release date for the Sony consoles or PC.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is getting its fourth and final DLC pack next week with Nemesis, debuting on Xbox One and Xbox 360 on 5th August.
It will likely come to PlayStation consoles and PC after 30 days, like all Call of Duty DLC.

The four new maps are described as being "small-to-medium" and "designed specifically for Call of Duty's distinctive fast-paced, gun-on-gun gameplay."

The final episode of Extinction, Exodus, will allow players to choose their path and craft new weapons as they square off against the alien menace. This time out there will be a new enemy type with the Ancestors, a mind-controlling race with psionic attacks.
As with the other DLC packs, Nemesis is £11.59 / $14.99 a la carte and is included in the £34.99 / $49.99 Season Pass.
