Cricket is my favourite game. It is a very famous sport and has immensely evolved during the ages. Cricket is for both men and women. It is an outdoor game which requires a total of 11 players. Two teams play against each other, and the team with the maximum number of runs wins the match. Cricket can be played in three forms - a test match, a twenty-twenty and a one-day game. Cricket has two parts - one is batting, and the other is fielding or bowling. The team that wins the toss gets to choose whether they are willing to bat or bowl. My favourite is batting since I excel in that part. Cricket is also known as the “game of uncertainty”, as the winner cannot be easily predicted until the last ball.

200 Words Essay On My Favourite Game Cricket

I love playing all sports, but a sport that excites me is cricket. Two teams consisting of 11 players each play it. The official body that governs all cricket and organises tournaments is ICC. Cricket has three formats mainly: test format, ODI format, and T20 format. The test match is for five days. The ODI runs for 50 overs, and the T20 game is for 20 overs which is the shortest format.

Cricket has been an integral part of my life since my childhood. Playing gully cricket with my friends on Sunday afternoons is a memory that till now I love to relive. Each six, four, or wicket can bring tears to our eyes, either of joy or sadness. I still remember the world cup winning night in 2011. We were all jumping with happiness, and that six from Dhoni made us cry out of joy. I was also a batsman in a state-level team back then. Every game of cricket makes me happy, and the glee of playing or watching cricket is immeasurable. This game has taught me sportsmanship spirit and to never give up until the game is over. Cricket is not just a game but rather a beautiful emotion.

500 Words Essay On My Favourite Game Cricket

Sports have always been an essential part of my life since childhood. Cricket is my favourite game. Cricket is the national sport of England. The Britishers introduced it before Indian Independence. Since then, it has become an essential sport for survival in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. In India, too, cricket is widely played among men and women of all ages. I started watching cricket on television in my childhood. Since then, I have always been mesmerised by this game. Cricket, also known as the “game of uncertainty”, can never be predicted until the last ball. After the ICC Cricket world cup, IPL is considered one of the biggest cricket tournaments. The World Cup is my favourite tournament.

My Favourite Player

My favourite player is Virat Kohli. He is my inspiration and helps me to believe that we can achieve whatever we can if we are determined. His batting style and the attitude he carries on and off the field make me his fan. He plays an integral role in making India a strong competitor in the ICC tournaments. He has already achieved so many things at such a young age that he is known to be one of the most incredible men who have ever played the game of cricket.

About Cricket

Cricket is played between 2 teams; each team consists of 11 members. It has two main parts—the first being batting and the second being bowling or fielding. The team winning the toss can choose whether to bat or bowl first. The team with the maximum number of runs wins the match. A total of 3 umpires are present during a game to give their decision on whether the particular batsman is out, not out, hit a six or hit a four. The third umpire is the one to tackle a difficult situation where critical decisions need to be taken.

Significance Of Cricket

Cricket, also known as the “gentleman’s game”, has emerged as a worldwide sport. Earlier, women were not encouraged by society to play cricket. But over the years, the spirit of cricket has encouraged women to participate in this game too. Nowadays people visit and cheer for women's cricket tournaments. Even though cricket is not the national game of India, it is still considered to be one of the most played sports. India has won the ICC ODI (One Day International) World Cup twice. The first was in 1983, and the second one was in 2011 under the captainship of Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni, respectively. India also won the T20 World Cup in 2007 and the Champions Trophy in 2013. The World Cup is held every four years.

My Love For Cricket

Cricket is my favourite sport. I love batting. Playing with friends in summer and winter evenings is the best part of my day. Virat Kohli is my favourite batsman. It baffles me how much the man has gained at such a young age. He keeps on inspiring me with his skills and talent. Over the years, cricket has enhanced my critical thinking and also developed the qualities of team spirit and hard work. I want to be a great cricketer and represent my country on the international cricket platform.

My favourite game Cricket (200 words)

Out of all the games I love to play cricket the most. It is the most popular game around the world. I love to watch and play the game as well. This game is played in many formats like T20, ODI and test matches.

Cricket is a game played between two teams of 11 players each. Each team has to play until they reach the over limit or until the team is all out. The team which makes the most runs wins the match. Each team has batsman , bowlers and fielders .

I love to play cricket with my friends in the playground. And not just at home but even at our school we play cricket daily and have practice. My friends and team doesn’t let me do batting much but they always let me bowl because I take the most wickets and do not let the other team make many runs.

My favourite Game Cricket (500 words)

I play a lot of games but cricket is my favourite. Cricket is played between two teams. The teams can consist of 11 players. The game is played with a ball and a bat.

The team which scores the most run is the winner of this game. This game is played on different levels like international, national etc. Cricket has several formats such as ‘One day’, ‘Test cricket’ and ‘T20’.

Cricket is considered a gentleman’s sport. Cricket was invented in England. Other than the players there are two more people present on the field they are the umpires. Umpires take the final decision of any action in the game.

The players who throw the ball are called the bowlers; the players who hit the ball using the bat are called the batsmen. Each bowler can bowl for one over which contains six balls. The players who catch the ball or stop the ball after the batsmen hit are called the fielders.

Before the game a coin toss is done between the two teams, whoever wins the toss he gets to decide if they want to bat or bowl. This game is played on the field and in the centre of the field is the pitch.

While doing the batting, the bowler can take the wicket of the batsmen by either hitting directly the stumps behind him or by throwing the ball at the stumps on either side of the pitch while the batsman is taking a run. Another way to take a wicket is when the batsman hits the ball in the air and the fielder catches it before the ball hits the ground or the boundary.

Cricket was first played by Prince Edward in England during the sixteenth century and from there it began to spread throughout the world and this was the reason why this game was called a ‘Royal Game’.

In India this game was introduced by the British and now this game has become more popular and loved than our national game.

A council called the International Cricket Council (ICC) was created to organize and support the game. ICC also provided the proper rules and regulations for the game.

One day or ODI format is basically a match that is played in one day where each team has to play for 50 overs in that single day.

T20 format is one in which each team has to play for 20 overs. This format is played in different tournaments like Indian Premier League (IPL) and ICC T20 World cup which is held every four years.

At last I would like to conclude my essay by saying that I love cricket because of how easily this game could be understood and played and someday I would like to work hard and make it to team India and represent my nation

Numerous international matches are played each year, and they’re organized and supported by the ICC (International Cricket Council). ICC makes any principles and guidelines of cricket and allows the group to play.

The highest level competition is the “World Cup” which is held every 4 years between high-positioned teams and hosted by various nations each time. For some, including me, the World Cup is the most loved cricket competition.

Formats of Cricket:

Cricket has three formats T20, ODI, and Test. And nowadays T10 is also a format with a limited 10 overs.

T20, otherwise called 20-20 is played for 20 overs by each team. The first T20 format was created in India. And then spread all over the world. Some T20 formats like IPL (Indian Premier League), and BBL (Big Bash League) are very popular nowadays. Not only that, The ICC decided to perform a world cup league that repeats every 4 years.

ODI , One Day International is played for 50 over by each group and keeps going the entire day.

The Test format design is played for five days by the two groups with something like 90 overs each day.

Why is Cricket My Favorite Game?

My favorite game cricket essay in English

Cricket is a ‘Royal Game’. The rules and regulations are very simple and a child can play easily. We can play cricket even if there are too many or fewer players. I love to play cricket with my friends after school, in the playground nearby my house. My team members always allow me to bat first as I can score good runs quickly. I love this game so much that I don’t miss even a single practice session.

Conclusion on My favorite game cricket essay:

The game is now heavily influenced by thugs and crooks and this entertainment has become a source of criminal activity in the last few years. The ICC should take steps to control such activities so that the spectators can enjoy a good game every time. This is a difficult but easy game to practice regularly. I also love to play cricket and play in the playground next to my house every evening. My parents are very helpful and always inspire me to play very well.

It is enjoyed by the old and young. Over the years, this game has gathered a huge fan-base, who connects emotionally with it in our country.

History of Cricket

The game of cricket goes long back to British times. When it was introduced in India, very few people played this game. The Maharaja of Patiala, Bhupinder Singh brought this game into limelight. He was a great patron of sports. He played cricket and he had his own team. Cricket was his second love after his kingdom. He was the man behind the golden history of cricket due to his passion for the game. His team Patiala XI was the best team during that time and he was the captain of the Indian team. He himself sponsored his teams for the tours to England.

How is Cricket Played?

Cricket is a game played by two teams of eleven players each on a pitch with two sets of three stumps, which are called wickets. The bowler bowls the ball down the pitch to the batsman of the opposing team, who must defend the wickets in front of which he stands. The target of the game is to score as many runs as possible.

Runs are scored by individual players by running on the playing strip (called pitch) between the wickets, or by hitting a ball that flies outside the boundary of the playground or which falls inside the boundary but bounces or rolls outside. When the balls go directly outside the boundary, the batsman scores six runs, and when the ball falls within the boundary but rolls outside then the batsman scores four runs. The opponent team will bowl and field and their objective is to take the wickets for each of the batsmen playing on the pitch.

A batsman can be dismissed in one of several ways: by the bowler hitting the wicket with the ball, which is called, bowled; by a fielder catching the ball hit by the batsman before it touches the ground and it is called caught; by the wicket-keeper or another fielder breaking the stumps while the batsman attempts a run and is therefore out of his ground. This is called stumped or run out. A batsman can also be dismissed if the batsman breaks the wicket with his own bat or body and this is called a hit wicket; by a part of the batsman’s body being hit by a ball that would otherwise have hit the wicket is called leg before the wicket or “lbw”.

A match consists of one or two innings, and each inning ends when the tenth batsman of the batting team is out, when a certain number of overs (an over: a series of six balls bowled) have been played or when the captain of the batting team declares ending the innings voluntarily.

Forms of Cricket

There are three forms of cricket: Test matches, one-day internationals, and T20 internationals.

Test matches are played for five days. To play this game, the players have to excel mentally and physically. This game is played in white tees and trousers. In this game, the players have to play for ninety overs each day.

In one-day internationals, the players play an inning of fifty overs. This kind of cricket is played only for a day. It was introduced in the 1980s.

T20 is the latest format of this game. In a T20 match, they play an inning of only twenty overs. This game is pretty interesting and engaging.

Achievements by the Indian Team

India won its first world cup in 1983 under the captaincy of Kapil Dev. It was a big win in the history of cricket. Next, they won the world cup in 2011 under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. India also won the T20 ICC World trophy and ICC Champions trophy in 2013 under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. Besides these prestigious trophies, India has acclaimed many other victories in world cricket.

Games immune us physically as well as mentally. Games are important for us because they give us the fitness to stay healthy. If we are physically fit then automatically our brain will function better. I have never received any open playground in my childhood.

So I have grown up playing different indoor games with my parents and siblings. My favourite indoor game is chess. I love to play chess, especially with my father who has taught me all the rules and regulations of that game. The best thing about this game is the use of the brain. Even the easiest step can do checkmate. I have often lost to my father but still, I love to play it again and learn it always.

Playing outdoors under the open sky is great fun and happiness. It means freedom from studies and the tensions in our lives. Every evening playing outside with my friends gives me lots of pleasure and joy. The best game that I like to play is ‘Hide and seek’.

Many people can play together and so it’s my favourite outdoor game. With many friends, it is great fun to hide in different places and make one search for all of us. Hide and seek involves lots of physical exercises and that enables us to stay fit, even without our knowledge. Also, that search is exciting. The sudden finding of one friend and often using that friend to get others to involve lots of mischiefs. The laughter at the end is worth the most to me.

Today due to the lack of any playground we hardly get a chance to play this game. However, it is still an important part of our memory. As we have grown up over the past years, we have realized how important the simple game was. Today we have smartphones and video games but then only this innocent play every evening meant a lot to us. Also running back home all happy and fresh in mind helped us to concentrate better on our studies. Hide and seek still remains to be more fun for me than just any other outdoor game.

Games are an essential part of human life. It is very important to play games as it helps us to remain healthy and fit, both physically and mentally. All sorts of diseases and pains can be reduced if we regularly play games.

Indoor games help us to immune our brains while outdoor games are important to build our own strong immunity and body. From my early childhood, I have loved to play games, especially outdoor games. My parents have always encouraged me to play games to keep a healthy and fit body. The game that I have played the most and also have seen the most is cricket. It is not only my favourite game but also the ideal one for me.

Cricket is generally a game played by men, but nowadays women equally engage in playing cricket. My inspirations in this game are Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, Jhulan Goswami, and also M.S. Dhoni. I have watched them play several matches and every time I have been inspired to play like them. My father taught me the basics of cricket and later on, I was admitted to a club. From there every morning I go and practice cricket.

Cricket involves lots of exercise and practice. This game originated mainly in England as a colonial sport and later on spread over several countries. It happened when Britain started colonizing all over the world and the game spread all over as part of their culture. But today it is almost a native sport for the country as well. When I play cricket it does not seem that it was once used by a different country, but now it feels like it is my own.

Cricket is played with a bat, ball, wicket, stumps, and a proper pitch for a smooth throw of the ball. The team contains 11 players and all need to be equally efficient to be a part of the cricket team. The best part of playing cricket is teamwork. I love to see the captain planning everything and then adjusting it with his or her team.

This constant equation between the team member is my favourite part of the game. Cricket has taught me lots of things. It has only made me physically fit. Cricket has taught me how to collaborate and work as a team. It has successfully built the team. It is always a great company to me than any simple outdoor game.

I have adopted a simplistic approach to writing essays on the topic for a better understanding of all kinds of students. If you still have any doubts regarding this context, kindly let me know through the comment section below. Keep browsing our website for more such sessions.

Essay on My Favourite Game Cricket for Students and Children (1000+ Words)

Many times, sports can be counted as a crucial part of our life and also on both the national and international levels.

These are the sports played on an international level while rugby, kabaddi, and many more are few games native to a few areas. So, my favourite game is cricket.

What Is Cricket & How It Got Discovered? The History of Cricket

Cricket is a game that is played by using a bat and a ball between two teams of eleven members each. Rules of this game are not very complex, and so even the kids can play it. This led cricket game to be the most favourite one in the subcontinent.

Cricket matches are usually played for five days with one’s rest day with two teams of eleven players in each. The whole test match contains two innings of 1 st and 2 nd innings. Win and lose in the cricket depend on the highest total runs scored by the teams in these 2 innings. And the team getting max run at the end is declared as the winner of that day match.

Why My Favourite Game Is Cricket?

Prior to the start of a match, a coin is tossed to decide which team will start the batting first. The team who wins the toss bats, and opponent teams do the bowling. But both the teams get a chance of batting and bowling alternatively.

Different Formats of Cricket

Test matches.

These are long-form cricket, and it lasts for 5 days. This is played between two countries, and who plays the matches is chosen by ICC. It is only a convenient way of playing cricket, but the ICC has made different other forms also to make the game more entertaining and commercial.

National League Systems

Limited overs cricket, one day international.

T-20 or Twenty 20 game just has 20 overs and is played between two countries. This game is exciting to watch and is perfect for those who cannot wait a whole day to watch the game, even if cricket is their favourite sport.

Cricket in India

Cricket these days is very much affected by the corrupt, and bullies and this entertainment is getting the source of a criminal act by the last few years. ICC should take some steps to control these kinds of acts so that the spectators can enjoy a good game every time.

Many games have been played on an international level in this modern era, and many are native to only a few locations, such as cricket, tennis, badminton, hockey, football, and others. These are the sports that are performed on a global scale, whereas rugby, kabaddi, and a few others are regional sports. But among all these sports, my favorite is cricket.

500+ Words Essay on My Favorite Game

The origins of cricket.

Cricket was first played in the 16th century in South East England. In the 18th century, the sport became England’s national sport, and in the 19th and 20th centuries, it was recognized worldwide as a part of the commonwealth experience in the various nations the British occupied. Since 1877, various international matches have been held, and it is now the second most popular sport in the world, after football.

At the international level, cricket is overseen and managed by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The game was originally known as “Creckett” and then began to be known as “Cricket” eventually. It rose to prominence in the 1800s and became well-known.

Essay on My Favorite Game

During the time of the British Raj in India, cricket was introduced as a sport and quickly became popular. Indians picked up the game and have since gone on to become global champions in this sport. Cricket is one of the most popular sports in the world, and many people like it. It is a game that was invented by Prince Edward and has since spread around the world.

Cricket is a bat-and-ball sport in which two teams of eleven players compete against each other. The rules of this game are simple enough that even children can follow and play it. As a result, cricket has become the most popular sport in the Indian subcontinent.

When a test match or a national/international level competition takes place, there is a large number of cricket fans across the world who throng the stadiums to watch the game. People have a favorite cricket team among the many that play as part of these tournaments. The teams have large fan followings and it is always an exciting experience when rival fans cheer for their teams in a filled stadium.

Cricket is not a native Indian sport, although it is enjoyed and played with great fervor in India.

Cricket matches normally last five days, with one day off in between, and feature two teams of eleven players each. The entire test match consists of two innings, the first and second innings. The highest total runs scored by the sides in these two innings determine who wins and who loses in the game. The team with the most runs at the end of the day is proclaimed the victor of the match.

Why is Cricket my Favourite Game?

Every year, the International Cricket Council (ICC) organizes and approves a number of international matches. The ICC establishes cricket rules and regulations and allows teams to compete.

The Cricket World Cup, which is held every four years amongst high-ranked teams, is hosted by a different country each time and is a high-degree competition. The World Cup is the favorite cricket tournament for many people, including me.

A coin is tossed prior to the commencement of a match to determine which team would bat or bowl first. Whoever wins the toss gets to pick either of the two for their team. However, both teams get an opportunity to bat and bowl alternately.

Winning and losing are two features of the game that make it mysterious and intriguing. When a batsman hits a chauka (four) or a chhakka (six) with the ball, the entire cricket stadium and ground fills with the high-pitched sound of cricket fans, especially when one’s favorite cricket team is batting.

Cricket is one of India’s most popular sports, and it is enjoyed by all. Cricket is my favorite sport and I like watching every match that is played. Indians have grown up watching cricket and have all played gully cricket at some point in their lives, which makes the game that much more closer to our hearts.

Formats of Cricket

Some of the numerous formats of cricket are T-20, One-Day International, Limited Over, National League Systems, and Test Matches.

Test Matches

It is a type of long-form cricket played over a five-day period. The matches are played between two countries, and the ICC selects the teams. The play for each day lasts 6 hours, with at least 90 overs being bowled every day. It is slow-paced compared to other formats but is a very interesting format of cricket to watch, especially at the international level.

National League Systems

Various smaller teams in England, numerous states in Australia, various islands in the West Indies, and even India’s Ranji Trophy are all examples of this format of cricket. These bouts happen between smaller clubs and teams and might last around three to four days.

Limited Over Cricket

Also known as one-day cricket, it is a format where the match is aimed to be finished in a single day. It has various sub-types, from T-20 to 100-ball cricket. Every team is allowed to play by innings, and if the game is hampered by weather, the Duckworth-Lewis Method is used.

One Day International (ODI)

The 50-over One-Day International (ODI) is a match played between two countries. This is the most often used and followed format.

A T-20, or Twenty-20, is contested between two teams and consists of only 20 overs. This game is thrilling to watch, and it’s ideal for individuals who can’t wait a whole day to watch cricket, even if it’s their favorite sport. It is fast-paced and interesting, with matches happening at both domestic and international levels.

In India, cricket is seen as a religious pastime, and many regard the renowned player Sachin Tendulkar as a deity. Indians are extremely enthusiastic about cricket, especially when a match between India and Pakistan is taking place. When the game is between neighboring countries, the entire country comes to a standstill at that point. Cricket is my favorite sport, as it can also be a game that brings the country together and brings harmony to its citizens.

An Essay On My Favourite Game!

Games are an essential element in the healthy development of childhood and beyond. Before telling you about my favourite game, I want to let you know why it is important for children to play games rather than only study .

Playing outdoor games with their friends allows children to experiment through trial and error; build physical, cognitive and emotional strength; work out the best strategies; bring in proficiency in skills; nurture their imagination; and help them find solutions to problems. So, children must follow at least 1 game that is their favourite.

For me, it was cricket. I used to play cricket with my friends while I was in school. I played many matches representing my school as I was in my school team. We used to cope with winning and losing (sometimes) as both are a part of the game. But, when we used to win the tournaments, it was a great feeling. It was a proud moment for our coach, all teammates, and the entire school.

Playing cricket

I found cricket the most exciting game among all other sports as the game is highly unpredictable. Moreover, the game has lots of drama; I did not find any other sport as dramatic as cricket. Many of my friends used to be spectators and watched me bowling, as I was a fast bowler.

Mostly, it was me and my other friend (who was the spinner) who took most of the wickets of the other team. The excitement when we say 'Howzat' (an abbreviated form of 'How's That') could be easily seen among the spectators as well as among the team players when we used to appeal for the batsman's dismissal. It is considered a way of asking the umpire whether a batsman is out or not.

So, I like cricket the most. However, for you, it may be something else. For instance, an outdoor game including badminton, tennis, football, or an indoor game like chess, table tennis, carom, ludo, squash, etc. could be the one you admire. Many other outdoor games entice children, including hide and seek, kick the can, four square, jump-rope & double dutch, etc.

Cricket has been my favorite sport since I was a kid. I love the game and its intricacies, the skills involved, and the spirit of camaraderie between teammates that make it so special. In my view, cricket is a very interesting and complex sport. The game has several aspects that make it unique and challenging. The way the ball is bowled, and the strategies used to achieve a favorable outcome is fascinating. Cricket has many different playing styles, from the aggressive batting of David Warner, the calm and composed bowling of James Anderson, the daring spin-bowling of Ravichandran Ashwin, and the all-round talent of Virat Kohli. Each player brings something different to the sport and adds to the drama and excitement. I love watching the cricket matches and it’s a great way to learn different tactics and strategies. I also admire the sportsmanship of cricket. The respect given to the players, the teams, and the game is testament to its prestigious place in the international arena. The way different players celebrate after a victory, or react to a loss, is something that I deeply appreciate and aspire to achieve in my own life. I am truly blessed to be able to witness the beauty of this great sport and continue to support it in any way I can. I am deeply grateful for what cricket has given me, and all the opportunities it has presented me with. Undoubtedly, cricket is my favorite game and will continue to be for a long time.

Cricket is one of the most popular games in the world. It is a game enjoyed by millions of people worldwide. The game is played with a bat and a ball between two teams. Each team consists of eleven players, and the objective is to score more runs than the opposing team. Cricket is my favorite game because it requires skill, strategy, and teamwork. It is a game that tests your endurance, patience, and quick thinking abilities. I love to watch the excitement on the faces of the players and the roar of the crowd as each player hits a boundary, takes a catch or makes a run-out. Furthermore, cricket has a rich history and traditions, which make the game even more profound. It is a game that transcends borders and brings nations together. For me, there is nothing more satisfying than a good game of cricket, and I always look forward to watching or playing it whenever I get the chance.

My Favourite Game Essay for Students and Children

500+ words essay on my favourite game.

My Favourite game essay-Playing games are very important for a human being. It keeps a man fit. Moreover, it keeps him away from diseases. Having some physical hobby is essential for a person. Most importantly many nutritionist and doctor recommend it. Children play many games. Some of them are cricket , basketball, football. Tennis , badminton, etc. Since in India the famous game is cricket many children are having it as a hobby. But my favorite is football.

My Favourite Game Essay

My Favorite Game – Football

When I was a child I liked cricket too but was never good at it. So I changed my hobby to football . Football was new to me in class 3. I did not play well in the beginning. But I liked the game very much. So I started practicing it. As a result, I began to play it well.

In class 5 I became the captain of my class football team. At that time I was so much excited to become the captain. With time a learned a lot about football.

In Football total 22 players play. Division of players is in two teams. Each team has 11 players. These players have to play with the ball only with legs. They have to kick the ball in the other teams’ goal post. Football is not like cricket. Weather is not an issue in football. Due to which players can play it the whole year.

In addition to football is a game of stamina. The players have to run on the field for the whole game. Also for 90 minutes too. Since 90 minutes is a lot there is a division in time. There are two halves. The first is of 45 minutes. Likewise, the second half is of 45 minutes too.

Get the huge list of more than 500 Essay Topics and Ideas

Rules in the Game

Like all the other games there are some rules and regulations too. First of all, the ball should not touch the ball by hand. If the ball gets touched by hand the other team gets a free-kick. There is a small area near the goal post. ‘D’ is the name of that area. The boundary of the ‘D’ is at least 10 yards from the goal post. If the player touches the ball there the opposite team gets a penalty.

Moreover, there are other rules. The second important rule is the ‘Off-Side Rule’. In this rule, if the player crosses the defender line it becomes an offside. If you are a true fan of football you must know what are defenders.

In the game, the players are into three subcategories. The first category is Forward. Forward are players who put the ball in the net of the goal post. The second category is a Midfielder. Midfielders are players who pass the ball to the forward player. The third category is the defenders. Defenders stop the other team players to put the ball in the goal post.

In addition to all the players playing on the field, there are other players too. These are substitute players. Football is a harsh game. Because of which many players get injured. When players get injured the substitutes take their place for the rest of the game.

Furthermore, there is a referee on the field. Whenever any place does a foul the referee whistles and stops the game. The referee then gives the penalty or a free-kick to the team foul against.

Moreover, if a player injures and fouls the other team player the referee gives him a Yellow or Red Card. The yellow card is a warning card. The red card is a suspension card. This card suspends the player for the rest of the game.

My Favourite Game Essay

Everyone has a special skill in playing several games, and we all grew up by playing various games and studying in the school time. My sports teacher and father always told me that study and sports are two legs of a growing stage where study makes your educational life better, and sports make your physical life better. My father is also a National level Rugby player of his time. I am studying in the 12th class in my school. I have a big ground near my home, and my school also has a large playground. My friends and I regularly play Cricket in the school playground in the off lectures and the home playground after school time. My favorite game is also Cricket. So whenever my friends ask me to play Cricket, I never refuse to play, even at the time of the exams.

I play Cricket very politely, and I know to play aggressive as well as defensive Cricket according to the situation. It is a game played between two teams, and each team contains eleven players in all formats. The match was played with different overs as per the discussions. The 50 overs, 20 overs, and test format play is played in the International cricket games. In our locality, we mostly play Cricket for 10 overs. There are 6 balls to be bowled in a single over. I am an allrounder and the youngest player on my team. My friend and I used to open the match, and our partnership lasted longer, and we made many records of our collaboration in many tournament matches.

Our committee frequently organizes the cricket tournaments in our home ground, which we named as a little Wankhede stadium. We play with all the international rules and regulations in our matches. My team players always compliment my batting and bowling skills and always appreciate me for keeping the play and improving more in my game. My father also loves watching me playing Cricket in our playground. My father always encourages me because of my play. He supports me to continue my Cricket and promises me to get admissions to the cricket academy after high school and told me to continue my graduation and cricket practice in my Grand mother’s place, Hyderabad. I am very happy for his deep belief in me and promise to myself that I’ll give my 100 % in the game, and one day, I will make my father proud of me and his decision.

A whimsical illustration shows five thin figures, wearing leotards and ballet shoes, balancing on top of one another in an outdoor setting to form a human pyramid. On the bald head of one of the two men at the bottom perches a cricket; on the other one’s head sits a watering can. The woman standing on the men’s linked arms holds out an umbrella with one hand while steadying the two children above her with the other — one of whom balances a garden spade on his toe while the other, at the very top, pokes her nose toward the sky to sniff a hanging bloom that’s bigger than her head. Are these figures fairy folk?

I first encountered Cricket, the literary magazine for children, at the home of my best friend, Elaine. Elaine was the most sophisticated child I knew. She always chose coffee ice cream. The tooth fairy brought her not crumpled dollar bills but smooth stones painted with miniature landscapes. She had traveled a lot, visiting family, and the Inwood apartment where she lived with her parents was filled with art and books and the smells of the elaborate meals her father cooked — the fact that he worked nights, and so was available to take us to museums after school, was itself glamorous. Even the apple juice they served us, in vividly painted Turkish tea glasses, tasted richer and finer than any I had ever tasted.

Cricket was beautiful. Its logo looked as if it had been painted by a calligraphy brush, moving from elegant but clear lettering into a delicate image of its namesake insect. The cover of the first issue I remember seeing featured a Margot Zemach illustration of a regal tiger reclining on a green bench; the back cover showed the equally regal back of his head. Inside were poems, stories, cartoons; work by Madhur Jaffrey and Hilary Knight — but also by other children, my age and younger.

After that, I started looking for Cricket at the library. I read it conscientiously, aware that it signified something about the kind of child I wanted to be. And when my birthday came, around five months later, I requested a subscription. My parents were happy to oblige. It was the first magazine I’d ever received in the mail. Each issue was a delight, a challenge — and slightly scary. These were thick, book-quality magazines, with volume numbers, to be treated not as disposable objects but as treasures. The title, I would learn, was a reference to an Isaac Bashevis Singer story in which a cricket chirps continuously, “telling a story that would never end.”

I wasn’t allowed to read Highlights. I guess my mother didn’t think it was good literature. So I had to covertly mainline “Goofus and Gallant” at the dentist’s office, as I would later sneak the Baby-Sitters Club books . (Ranger Rick was for that alien species, animal kids.)

For those of us with literary or artistic pretensions — however amorphous — Cricket wasn’t just our best option; it was our only option.

I’ll admit it: I didn’t always keep on top of my Crickets. Sometimes schoolwork took precedence, or I became absorbed in a book that wasn’t “good literature” or in a Newbery-winning novel where a child experiences tragedy. Crickets would then accumulate in a reproachful stack — an early lesson in the pile-of-serious-magazine-induced guilt I’ve always felt needs its own German compound word.
