Beach and my soul, essay on beach cleaning.

Beach is one of my favourite places to visit. I feel so refreshed after visiting a beach. It makes my body and mind active, and I think it is the best place on this planet where we can enjoy ourselves with our friends and family members. I love playing with the sand and building sandcastles with my friends. We made a huge sandcastle on our last visit to the beach and named it ‘The Castle of Wonders’. My friend and I announced ourselves as the two kings of that castle and placed two flags above it. The red flag I put represented me as the king of the castle, and the blue one represented my friend. We also clicked a picture standing before our majestic sandcastle, and I consider it one of the greatest moments of my life.

The unpredictability of waves always amazes me. The way they hit the shores is magical. I love playing with waves; my friends and I run away from the waves to avoid getting our legs washed by them. We also write random names and words on the sand and watch them getting cleared away by the waves. It is an exciting game that fills my heart with bliss. English Summary

A Day at the Beach Essay

A beach is an area of sand or small stones around the sea. I spent a day at Marina Beach in Chennai when I went there with my family on vacations. It was one of the best days of my life. I always wanted to visit the beach because it is a lot of fun.

The beach was surrounded by dense trees and it was very clean. My mother sat on the sand under a tree and took out a book to read. My sister and I went to play with the water in the sea. We splashed water on each other and enjoyed the sea waves when they made us go up and down. After some time, we came back. Then I and my sister made a sandcastle. I also collected shells on the beach and we decorated the castle with them.

The beach became more splendid when the sky turned red. After six o’clock, we went to the changing room and took bath and changed our clothes because the guards did not allow us to be on the beach after sunset. We came back to our hotel and we all talked about our day. We all were so happy because the day was well spent.

Sample narrative essay - A day at the beach

a day at the beach with my family essay

It was a sunny day at the beach. The sand was hot under our feet. My little brother Xoli started crying. “Pick him up, Busi,” my mother said.

I picked him up. He was so heavy. And his nose was dirty. I didn’t want that snot on my summer top! I put him down and he started crying again. “Pick him up!” my mother shouted. I picked him up again, wishing I didn’t have a baby brother who was always such a pain.

Finally we got to a good spot and spread out the towels. My mother got out her magazine and started reading. I tried to play on my cellphone but the sun was too bright. So I lay down and closed my eyes.

Suddenly I realised it was quiet – too quiet. I sat up and looked for Xoli. He was nowhere around. Then I saw him. He was digging in the sand close to the water and a big wave was coming. “Xoli!” I shouted. But he didn’t hear me.

I started running as fast as I could. My mother had heard me and she came after me too. But we were too late. The huge wave swept him off his feet. I rushed into the water and managed to grab hold of his arm before he could be sucked out to sea. I picked him up. He was spluttering and crying. When I saw he was all right I nearly started crying too. “Why did you go so far?” I started shouting.

But my mother took him from me gently. “He is just a baby, Busi. We should have been watching him.” The two of us sat with Xoli and built a sandcastle. I found shells to decorate the castle and Xoli clapped his hands. My mother went to buy us ice creams.

A Day At The Beach Essay

A day at the beach is a perfect way to relax and enjoy the summer sun. The colors of the sand and sea are so relaxing, and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore is just mesmerizing. Spending a day at the beach is definitely a must-do during the summertime!

On a hot, smothering day, my pals and I decided that it was a good day to go to the beach. As we drove into Newport Beach in Rhode Island, the Sun’s bright yellow pellet boiling in the sky, I could see that things were getting chilly. The open-air temperature was dropping steadily and traffic lanes were narrowing down, which meant we were nearing the beach.

As we finally got there, we parked the car and walked to the shore. I could feel the shining Sun beating down on my skin, warming my body up instantly. I could see the long expanse of the shoreline—the waves crashing against the rocks, seagulls flying in the sky, people playing volleyball on the sand, children building sandcastles, couples walking hand in hand. It was a scene of tranquility and peace.

The first thing I did was dip my toes in the water to test the temperature. The water was freezing cold! I quickly took my feet out and decided to go for a walk instead. I walked along the shore, letting the water flow over my feet every now and then. The cold water was refreshing and invigorating. After a while, I sat down on the sand and watched as the waves rolled in, one after the other. It was mesmerizing.

The sound of the waves crashing against the rocks, the smell of salt in the air, the feel of sand between my toes—it was all so calming and relaxing. I could feel all my worries and stress melting away. I felt like I could sit there forever and just soak in the peace and serenity of the moment.

Eventually, my friends came to join me and we spent the rest of the day swimming, playing beach games, and just enjoying each other’s company. It was a day well-spent indeed.

Colorful umbrellas, beach balls, and towels dotted the shoreline as people enjoyed a beautiful day at the beach. The sound of laughter and shouting could be heard over the sound of waves crashing against the rocks. Children were playing in the sand, building sandcastles or digging holes. Adults were sunbathing, reading books, or chatting with friends. Couples were walking hand in hand, enjoying the romantic scenery.

The water was a deep blue and the sky was a clear, bright blue. The sun was a huge yellow ball that blazed in the sky, sending its rays down to Earth. The beach was the perfect place to spend a hot, summer day.

We pulled into a parking place and set out for a stroll across the scorching black asphalt, which radiated heat from the sun. I could see across the silver lagoon, which was tinted blue by the sea. The sand burned my feet as soon as I put them on the silt white sand. Waves crashing and unruffled sea breeze blowing By, I could hear sounds of waves colliding and felt the soothing sea wind brush against me.

I set my beach items such as my castle, sunscreen, and towel on the sand. After I was all situated I started walking towards the water, which looked like a never-ending abyss. As I walked in further the temperature of the water gradually decreased making it feel therapeutic. Now that I was fully submerged in the water I could feel my body slowly relaxing from head to toe.

All my worries and stressors from school felt like they disappeared into oblivion. laying there for what felt like hours but were only minutes, I realized how blessed I am to have this moment right now. Moments like these are what we live for; moments that make us feel truly alive. Experiencing nature and its beauty is one way to achieve pure bliss. Who knew something as simple as going to the beach could provide me with such serenity and peace? As I slowly walked back to my stuff on the shore, I felt grateful for this moment, this day, and this life.

This is a beautiful piece about enjoying a day at the beach. The author describes the scene in great detail, from the sound of the waves crashing to the feel of the sand on their feet. They also reflect on how moments like these are what we live for – moments that make us feel truly alive. This is a great reminder to take time to appreciate the simple things in life that can bring us joy.

As I glanced around my surroundings, the beach was crowded with individuals. People lay down on various colored beach towels to get a sunbathe towards my right, while others are on an umbrella in order to get some rays. I could see many youngsters decorating their sandcastles with smooth round seashells as I looked down.

The smell of suntan lotion and BBQ’s fill the air as I begin to walk on the sand. The sand is warm and feels good as it rubs against my feet. As I get closer to the water, I could see that the ocean was a deep blue color and there were people walking, running, biking or just simply sitting on the beach enjoying their day.

Nearby, I could hear the sound of waves crashing against rocks and seagulls squawking in the distance. The sound of waves crashing makes me feel calm and relaxed. Sitting down on the beach, I let the sun hit my face as I close my eyes and enjoy the moment.

Are you ready for a fun-filled adventure at the beach?

It was a beautiful summer day, and the sun was shining brightly in the sky. A group of friends had been planning a trip to the beach for weeks, and finally, the day had arrived. They packed their bags with towels, sunscreen, and snacks, and made their way to the shore.

As soon as they arrived, they laid out their beach towels and began to build a sandcastle. They worked together, piling sand on top of each other until they had created a magnificent fortress with turrets and a moat. They even found some seashells and rocks to use as decorations.

Once they finished their sandcastle, they ran into the ocean to cool off. The water was refreshing, and they splashed each other and played games. Some of them swam out to the buoys, while others stayed closer to shore.

After a while, they got hungry and decided to have a picnic. They spread out a blanket and unpacked their snacks – sandwiches, fruit, chips, and cookies. They also had some cold drinks to quench their thirst. As they ate, they watched the waves and listened to the seagulls.

After lunch, they played beach volleyball and Frisbee. They even saw a group of people playing a game of beach soccer, so they joined in. They ran around the sand, kicking the ball back and forth and trying to score goals.

As the day wore on, they started to get tired. They lay down on their towels and soaked up the sun, feeling the warm sand beneath them. They talked and laughed and enjoyed each other’s company. Some of them even dozed off for a little while.

Finally, the sun began to set, and it was time to go home. They packed up their things and said goodbye to the beach. They walked back to their cars, feeling happy and content after a day filled with fun and relaxation.

As they drove away, they talked about how much they enjoyed their day at the beach and how they couldn’t wait to come back again. They all agreed that it was a perfect way to spend a summer day with good friends.

ORDER PAPER LIKE THIS

As I step on the granular surface of the mildly sun-drenched beach, I feel the refreshing gush of ocean air, caressing my nostrils. The water is glistening in pearly evanescence, its serenity humbly interrupted by a thunderous squeaking of the children, valiantly rushing towards the water, only to huddle even faster back, to the safety of terra firma. The circular, luminous ball in the sky is not acknowledging the arrival of noon yet, and the lack of people, sunbathing on the beach feels more than good. As I am walking, I can feel the little grains of sand protruding through my fingers, giving my sore feet a pleasant, tickling sensation. Ever since I was little, I loved walking barefoot, especially on grassy and sandy surfaces. Grass always possessed an earthly cloud-like essence in its gentle plasticity, while sand, coarse and rough at times, felt almost like an always welcome massage. On finally having found a secluded little patch of terrain, adjusted for solitary basking in the auriferous landscape of aquamarine and honey, I seat myself on my hippie-inspired towel, and continue to observe the vastness before me. My introverted meditation is again interrupted by the shrill sounds of children, squeaking in delight. One little girl is particularly loud, yet not in an annoying way, rather in a way that makes one go green with jealousy at seeing someone enjoy something so simple such as running through the shallow part of the ocean, making sure to make as big of a splash as possible. She appears to be four, maybe five years old, with a wetted hair, sticking to her gently tanned face. Her hair is shimmering in the sun, tied with two cherry-colored little bows. On her nose, traces of suntan lotion are still visible, white, urging the skin to soak them up. It was gently and very carefully smeared on by who I assume is her mother, the lady who is lying on a hammock merely a meter away, keeping her little treasure under her hawk gaze constantly. Behind the girl in the little crimson bathing suit, two white dots appear on the horizon; hopeful fishing boats and its crewmen, out for the day. I imagine their sun burnt faces, how their fingers must have soaked up the smell of the ocean, of the fish they take out, like the butcher who, no matter how often and thorough he washes his hands, the faint scent of meat perpetually remains underneath the fingernails, revealing the secret of his profession. The boats swing rhythmically, like a cradle, lulling a baby to sleep. The water is tranquil and sempiternal. Above it, the cerulean image of the sky lies prostrate as far as the eye could see, with little dabs of puffy whiteness smeared over the clear blueness. The sun is beginning to pierce the blue serenity above and below, but nobody seems to mind. More and more people are starting to gather at the beach, forming a miniature ant society, scattered throughout the cinnamon surface greeting the water. They do not mind the smell of decomposing water life forms, which float carelessly along the glass façade of water. It is the smell of saltwater, floating on a breeze and they welcome it for one, heavenly afternoon. When the time comes, they will return to their concrete jungle of car mufflers, busy streets, trash and smog. But now, the moment consumes us all, we are one with nature that spreads its marine perpetuity in front of us and embraces us as her children. She caresses us with her dripping fingers, clings to our bodies in grains of arenaceous particles, brushes past our faces in buoyant wafts of Neptunian air, and lulls our minds in the clement glow of aubade warmth. All of a sudden, I hear music, which is utterly out of tune with the tranquility that this magical place offers. One of the café places on the beach has started playing some modern music, the one that appeals to younger people. For me, it completely disrupts the meditative qualities of the beach. I close my eyes, and endeavor to deafen the sounds of the music, giving emphasis to the squawking of the seagulls and the playful squealing of little children. I open my eyes, and the light is bewildering, yet enchanting at the same time. The people are all black dots on the auburn covering of the beach, like rare black pearls found in only some shells. This reminds me of the uniqueness that we all possess within ourselves, yet which is so easy to forget. The people are scattering around, looking for a place to settle down for the day, and put down their towels in rainbow colors. In a blink of an eye, the beach becomes an anthill of activity, the voices growing louder and louder, as faces grow by the numbers, finally transforming into one big human face that decided to inhabit the beach for the day. This is not the beach I enjoy anymore. The serenity of the place is gone; its meditative abilities have been stripped down to a commercialized noise of reckless polluters. I close my eyes and try to go back to the flapping of the seagulls’ wings and their talking to Mother Nature. The waves of music coming from the cafes and human clamor overwhelm me, and I cannot hear the gentle swaying of the ocean waves anymore. I bury my hands in the sand. It is warm and comforting to know of a constant in life. We will all dissolve, become granular, become one with the universe around us. We will all be given immortality, if only we know to appreciate it. With my eyes still closed, I smile enigmatically at the vast watery panorama in front of me, the soothing sounds of waves crashing against the rocks far away tickle my eardrums. I take the sand in my palm and let it slip through my fingers in waterfalls of sand, joining the granular plethora around me. I smile, because I hear nothing but the water anymore.

A Day at the beach

Spending a day at the beach is often awesome and splendid especially for the family after having hectic tasks throughout the week. Despite having stress resulting from overlapping duties and responsibilities at the workplace, it is important for the family to recover their lost pleasure by spending at least one of the weekends at the beach. Most of the beaches all over the world are built purposively for leisure time and fun. The breeze from the ocean’s tides and the sand beaches are enough to ease the family from the stress. In other words, a day at the beach is much better than a day at any five stars hotels. This paper will, therefore, explore the significance of spending a day at the beach and not otherwise.

Swimming exercise at the beach is one of the most interactive activities that is worthy for the family recreation and leisure. During holiday’s season, family and relatives from diverse background meet at the beach to celebrate and enjoy their day. During swimming, visitors with little experience are advised to use the shallow end of the sea while the swimming experts may go deep down the ocean. Others may be provided with the swimming costumes and floaters for the exercise. In an ideal situation, the majority find pleasure and comfort in swimming than any other activities. According to nutritionists, swimming is one of the best physical activities for the overweight and obese victims.  In regards to this, spending a day at the beach is very significant since it promotes a healthy and active lifestyle.

Building sand castles is another significant and common activities at the beach. However, the majority who have never experience the scene may remain to stare as the rest proceed. The sand along the beach forms one of the perfect and safe ground for various physical activities. It is funny and fantastic to see huge bodies competing in different races along the beach. Moreover, seeing young teenagers rolling on the sand like snakes and busking themselves on the sun will continue to break your ribs. The funniest scenarios are when they paint and cover themselves with sand as they relax to grasp for fresh air and sea breeze along the Seashore.

A day at the beach may also have funny experiences of exploring the tides pools. For those who may not believe in Seven Wonders of the World, spending time at the beach can give them real testimonies. It is interesting and fantastic to see hills forming inside the water bodies. Interestingly, such hills are in motions towards the Seashore and they apparently disappear. Tide pools at the beach usually leave majority in wondering moods as they try to imagine what could have triggered calm-water to move up and down forming hills.

Lastly, a day at the beach does not only promote social interaction with people from a cultural background, however, it equally promotes interaction with other natural creatures like birds and sea creatures. Visitors often enjoy watching of different species of birds along the Seashore. Birds are friendly to human beings and they have got funny behaviors to get food and survives along the beach. Lastly, artist and other talented personnel who are ever there along the beach for entertainment purposes have exceptionally created a conducive environment for recreational activities along the beach. Sincerely speaking, a day at the beach worth a million times traveling in the air.

The church I grew up in opposes IVF. Are my infertility struggles part of God’s design?

Me after an egg retrieval — just one step on our long road of fertility treatments.

Most people in Los Angeles spend their Saturdays at the beach in the summer. I spend mine sitting on a bench outside a fertility clinic, praying to be pregnant.

It’s been almost four years since my husband, Anthony, and I started trying for a baby. Like many couples, we thought time was on our side, so we spent our 20s getting degrees and advancing our careers. Kids would happen “someday”; we assumed we’d have two or three. In the meantime, we relished becoming the fun uncle, and the cool aunt.

A few weeks after my 30th birthday, I scheduled an appointment to remove my IUD. Anthony had just turned 34. “Hopefully I’ll see you in a couple of months!” my gynecologist said before sending us off with recommendations for prenatal vitamins. Little did she know we would see her and so many other doctors frequently in the coming years, but never once for a pregnancy.

IVF Treatment

According to reproductive endocrinologists, our issue is likely egg quality — though anyone who has experienced infertility knows this is often code for “we can’t figure it out.”

Medical research for infertility is wildly underfunded despite declining fertility rates across the globe. A 2023 news release from the World Health Organization states that 17.5% of couples struggle to conceive. For some, the diagnosis is straightforward — endometriosis , blocked fallopian tubes, male factor infertility . For others, the diagnosis is unexplained, as has been the case for us.

At the beginning of 2023, after two years of failing to get pregnant on our own, Anthony and I turned to in vitro fertilization (IVF) as a last resort. Until then, the cost had made IVF seem like an impossible option: in Los Angeles, one IVF cycle can be over $25,000. Many health insurance plans don’t cover fertility treatments, including ours. But if I’ve learned anything about infertility, it’s that it will make you both desperate and willing to do whatever it takes to have a baby. For us, this has meant taking out loans, borrowing money from family and working second jobs.

If I’ve learned anything about infertility, it’s that it will make you both desperate and willing to do whatever it takes to have a baby. For us, this has meant taking out loans, borrowing money from family and working second jobs.

Still, the bills are suffocating, especially when you’re paying for something that doesn’t always work — like at our most recent appointment when my body didn’t respond to the birth control pills (yes, birth control is, ironically, used to help regulate your ovaries), and we were forced to cancel that IVF cycle. At the clinic where we go, we pay a package fee for every egg retrieval and embryo transfer. If a cycle is canceled because my body doesn’t respond to the medication, we back pay for all my appointments and blood work, which are now a la carte services. Two 15-minute appointments ran us $1,300.

My fertility treatments cause bloating — among numerous other physical and emotional side effects.

The stress and grief Anthony and I have experienced in our journey to become parents is unlike anything I could have anticipated. It’s taken a toll on our mental health, our marriage and our bodies. Yet, in recent weeks, I’ve found this stress and pain to be exacerbated by current religious debates about the ethics of IVF and reproductive assistance in the United States, especially because I grew up in the church.

Two of the churches I attended as a child belong to the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), which recently voted against the use of assisted reproductive technology. Their biggest concern is embryo banking — the creating and freezing of multiple embryos — since they believe embryos are human beings.

The report advocates “for the government to restrain actions inconsistent with the dignity and value of every human being, which necessarily includes frozen embryonic human beings.” It also emphasizes adherence to what the SBC perceives as “natural” reproductive methods, viewing IVF as an artificial intervention in God’s design. I have to wonder, though: Was it God’s design for my husband and me to have difficulty conceiving?

I have to wonder: Was it God’s design for my husband and me to have difficulty conceiving?

While I no longer belong to any church or believe in the doctrines of the SBC, I feel overwhelmed and devastated for congregants who’ve used IVF to have their babies, or those who are in the throes of infertility. They must now wrestle with ethics and possible shaming from pastors and other church members, especially if they currently have frozen embryos waiting to be transferred. And with more than 13 million members, the SBC does not exist in a silo; its opinions hold weight, especially on the political stage. A day after the report, Senate Republicans blocked a bill that would have protected IVF access across the nation.

I wish my two frozen embryos were human babies; I really do. But the statistics don’t favor this wish. A 2018 study conducted by Reproductive Medicine Associates and presented at the annual meeting of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine found that three chromosomally normal embryos are needed for one live birth (a 94.9% chance of pregnancy). Sometimes it takes less, but often it takes more.

Last fall, for example, our first egg retrieval failed. I cried for weeks. The retrieval was textbook, and I had 19 follicles going into the surgery. But from those 19, doctors were only able to create one embryo. It arrested, or stopped developing, within hours.

Embryo banking has never been an ethical concern for Anthony or me or the other people we’ve met doing IVF because we all know that our embryos are not compatible with life until they are reinserted into the uterus. Even then, the embryo has to implant, and the cells must continue to divide to form a fetus. So much can go wrong between transfer day and birth, especially for infertility patients. To have a chance at a family, creating multiple embryos is necessary. For cancer patients, too, embryo banking is a gift as it allows them to preserve their fertility.

I also wish the SBC was correct in its assumption that IVF “routinely creates more embryos than can reasonably be implanted.” This may be true sometimes, but it isn’t our story. Anthony and I will have one embryo left after we transfer our first embryo this summer. Our doctor tells us there is a 60% chance it will lead to a pregnancy. We will likely need at least one more egg retrieval to have more than one child.

Back on the bench outside the fertility clinic, I think about how my parents raised me to believe that God can heal and perform miracles. According to the Bible stories I learned as a girl, Jesus walked on water and raised Lazarus from the dead. But my parents also taught me that God created the brains responsible for inventing modern medicine and that ignoring the medical interventions available to us would be like choosing to drown despite a nearby life raft.

“We commit to pray to our God who hears, sees, and remembers on behalf of those couples struggling with infertility” is how the SBC resolution ends. Anthony and I will continue to pray, too. But we will also rely on IVF.

Kayti Christian is a writer and editor living in Los Angeles. She is represented by Sallyanne Sweeney with MMB Creative and is currently writing a memoir about IVF and infertility. Find her writing about infertility on substack .
